ESSENCE Jellyfish are non-polyp lifeforms from the phylum Cnidaria. They are marine animals whose bodies consist of gelatinous bells and trailing tentacles. They can pulsate their bells for locomotion - though some merely drift with the currents even then - and use their tentacles to sting and ensnare prey. Jellyfish are widespread, found in all oceans in all oceanic zones. They are also among the oldest surviving animals, having been around for at least 500 million years but are debated to have been around as long as 700 million years.
Unlike most animals, jellyfish lack many of the specialized systems required for life including a digestive system, a centralized nervous system, respiratory system, and circulatory system. Their bodies are 95% water and the "jelly" that gives these creatures their name is found primarily in the bell of the animal.
Jellyfish size can vary from only a few centimeters to several feet depending on the species. All jellyfish can sting, with various results to humans depending on the species the person was stung by. This can range from no reaction at all to excruciating pain to even death. Beached and dying jellyfish can still sting and even simple pieces of a jellyfish's tentacles can still trigger nematocysts to deliver venom when touched. If stung, one must deactivate the nematocysts and remove the tentacles to prevent further harm. Vinegar is the most helpful way to deactivate the venom (whereas the myth of urine does not and can in fact make the sting worse), while a knife edge works to remove the remaining tentacles.

DUST Character Name: Zelda Nicknames: None yet! Dust Essence: Jellyfish Gender: Female Powers: TBD - stingers for certain however
Appearance: Obligatory Tektek (Ignore the clothing, it was just for coverage)
A jellyfish is every bit as soft, squishy, and round as one imagines when they are told to think of what such a creature looks like. Zelda is no different. Although not among the smallest children, her physical appearance is stout and a little round; with baby fat limbs, chubby cheeks that dimple on both sides when she smiles, and a child's belly (think baby Korra from Legend of Korra). She is soft and almost jelly-like, which fits when one gets to her skin. Like many jellyfish, Zelda's skin has a certain degree of translucence about it. This mostly shows in her appendages like hands and feet, where her bones are allowed to show through almost-perfectly through her lavender colored epidermis, but also show at her joints as well as on her torso (please see the tektek above for a good example of what I mean). This translucence might not be much at first, but as she ages, it will expand.
Traveling to her face, Zelda also has some translucence around her cheekbones, but these spots are mostly covered by her hair, which is a pearlescent white, almost boyishly short, and covers her eyes completely. Despite the obstruction Zelda can see quite well through her fluffy hair and if she pushes her bangs back one will find her eyes are a dark yet vibrant indigo. However, this is not a common occurrence as it seems she finds enjoyment in leaving people mystified to if and how she can see. Zelda has a button nose and unlike her eyes it is not completely covered by her hair. Her mouth is the same in the latter respect, but her lips are slender. Her ears, like her eyes, are covered and I have no preference to if they are shaped like a human's, tapered like an elf's, or small fins.
When it comes to clothing (again, please ignore the tektek, that dress was just to cover the avatar) Zelda prefers girly things because girly things provide a degree of looseness and ease of wear. She loves dresses, especially shorter ones with the skirt part kind of in a bell-shape, and seems to not be picky when it comes to color (just go with what you think looks best, pretty much! Maybe some teals, whites, or seafoam greens perhaps?). The more flow-y or formless the cloth, the better, and she's not opposed to wearing sleeves that aren't connected to what covers her body (think the various Gaia items where the sleeves are just slid up the arms). Accessories I'll leave up to BP but again, Zelda isn't a picky child. She does prefer to go barefoot, but if her Guardian manages to get her into shoes, she likes sandals best.
Distinguishing Features:
Translucent skin at her hands, feet, joints, cheekbones, and some parts of her torso; short, white hair that completely covers her eyes; perhaps a degree of "color-changing" ability in her skin (some jellyfish are so pale or clear that if you shine various colored lights into their tank, the jellies appear to take on that color. It'd be neat to see her take on an orange tint at dawn or a bluer one while in the shade, etc). Some jellyfish are also bioluminescent so maybe that could be worked into her somehow if BP feels it fits?
Personality: Mellow | Amicable | Spacey | Procrastinator
Zelda doesn't so much "dance through life" as she does float through it because this is a Dust who always goes with the flow. This flow occasionally leads her to places where she gets into unintentional trouble, but with a personality as easygoing as hers is, Zelda is less likely to be bothered by her situation and instead more mildly amused by it.
Carefree? You have Zelda in one word. Careless? Almost, but not entirely and not to a degree that make her apathetic or insensitive toward others. Instead, Zelda is one hundred percent a mellow girl. This comes as no surprise given she is a jellyfish Dust, but even then Zelda seems to take 'going with the flow' to the next level with how laidback and mild-mannered she is. She lives her life with the notion that nothing needs to be rushed nor should be rushed and that doing so is...well...a silly thing to do. How can one enjoy life when they're stressing out or running around like a decapitated chicken? From Zelda's point of view, it seems that they cannot and that's just a saddening thing because it's fun to be relaxed and thoroughly comfortable.
Because she is relaxed as anything (and perhaps even more than that), nothing seems to bother this girl. She takes everything in stride and with such level-headed clarity that it's a wonder if she ever gets riled up about anything at all. It seems she doesn't, as Zelda goes through her days with a surprisingly thick skin. Insults and the like don't seem to phase her much at all and in fact it might make a person wonder if she's even listening to what's being said! Yes, she is a complete and utter space-case, particularly fond of daydreaming when not in conversation - or even when in one as she seems to slip into the clouds without any warning. Thanks to this, you'll find she might end up lost or a half hour late to some engagement quite often. Her apologetic excuses are usually heartfelt - she does feel bad if she does miss out on something entirely or hurts someone's feelings - but she seems in no hurry to change her methods...or do much else quickly either.
Yes, Zelda is quite the procrastinator. As before, she sees no benefit in getting upset or worked up over the little things and this definitely extends to tasks throughout the day. Taking the laundry out, doing the dishes...Her thoughts on such matters are 'it can be done a little later, don't worry'. This of course ends up repeated over and over and while she's generally an absentminded girl in regards to her possessions, saying "I forgot" is the excuse she generally ends up using before apologizing and saying something along the lines of "Don't get flustered, it'll get done". Eventually it does, but people around Zelda might end up getting frustrated with her lack of immediate motivation and lackadaisical ways.
At least on a plus side she is quite amicable and a decent listener so long as the conversation holds or a brief moment of mental wanderlust doesn't kick in. Zelda takes to just about anyone almost immediately. A few minute conversation with her is enough to have her telling her Guardian "I made a friend today" and she gives people the benefit of the doubt until they prove themselves to be the sort she doesn't approve of (ie: mean people). Because of this, she's bound to have many more acquaintances than she does solid friends, but all are cherished just as equally and are bound to receive a little something on the appropriate holidays.
Likes/Dislikes:
Unsurprisingly, Zelda likes water and anything to do with it, whether it be swimming, bathing, rain, storms, puddle jumping, etc. She also loves sea creatures, especially the edible ones. Seafood dinners and sushi (if it exists in this world) are high up on her 'I would always eat this' list. She enjoys nice days but not overly hot ones or ones with the sun beaming down directly on her skin and is fond of getting lost, wandering around, and relaxing. She also enjoys conversation with others because everyone has a unique story to tell. Glass art, crystals, trinkets, dresses, things with frills, and horoscopes are also things she's fond of. On the flip side, Zelda is not favorable to mean people, fast talkers (she can't keep up!), busy days that give her no time to rest or explore, being rushed, shoes, being enclosed for too long, and being too dirty.
Hobbies:
Given she has terrible wanderlust, one of Zelda's hobbies is talking walks and seeing where the road takes her. She loves to explore and find "treasure" and is bound to have several small boxes filled with odds and ends she's happened across on her days out. Her more stationary pursuits include coloring, painting (watercolors especially), having stories told to her, and taste testing anything she is offered. One of her likes is mysticism and she's especially fond of horoscopes, tea reading, crystal balls, and that ilk perhaps even developing into an interest in conspiracies and so called "otherworldy entities". Of course, one of her forever loves will always be swimming and beach-related activities such as seashell collecting and sandcastle building.
Anything Else:
Since her Dust Essence is just 'jellyfish' I was kind of hoping her bottle could encompass more than one species in its design. Moon jellyfish and sea nettles are the two species I'm particularly fond of and if anything I would like for a few of the former and one or two of the latter to be present at her bottle's Spin stage.

GUARDIAN Character Name: Sebastian DuPont Nicknames: Seb, Bastian Gender: Male Age: 32
Home:
A cobblestone wall and wood floor two bedroom apartment in the Floating City, Seb lives near the outskirts of the city, but by no means in a bad area of town or too insanely far from any place he would want or need to be. He lives on the top floor of his building and has a decent view of the surrounding area even though his home is not quite a luxurious loft. The place is warm in the winter and cool in the summer and that's good enough for him, with the two bedrooms, open kitchen, wide living area, and modest dining area being a plus. His bathroom is on the small side but not cramped with a shower/bathtub, sink, and toilet nestled inside. His only complaint about the place is the broken outside laundry line that the building owner has yet to have someone repair - if he didn't have a risk of breaking his neck to do so, Seb would have fixed that himself by now otherwise!
Appearance:
Standing at a solid 6'2", Seb is someone you'd probably not want coming at you in a dark alley and not just because he's an officer of the law. The man is a cut of solid muscle accented with hard lines and rough skin that screams 'intimidating' even if he's simply idling against a wall. Although not a body builder by any stretch, Sebastian has enough muscle on him to mark him as a man who works out and it shows even through any long sleeve shirt he wears. His skin is a dark tan color that comes from a mix of genetics and time spent outdoors, which Seb tries to get a lot of even when not working, and the skin of his hands is rough from work and his exercise routine. His feet have a couple blisters and rough patches but he doesn't make a point to walk around barefoot often when out and about so they are otherwise unremarkable.
Looking at his face, the first thing a person may notice is Seb's dark blue eyes. They stand out against his skin and contrast quite nicely with his dust-colored hair, the latter of which is taking on some strands of grey and is kept short and close to his head. His face is square with a strong jawline and low cheekbones, and his ears have hanging lobes. His bottom lip is fuller than his upper one and bears a small scar from a punch where his opponent was wearing a ring. Sebastian's nose is straight with wide nostrils and surprisingly hasn't been broken once in all his years.
Clothing wise Sebastian's wardrobe is sparse, well worn, but suitable for him and his lifestyle. His uniforms are the best kept pieces of the lot, with the two pairs of work shoes he has kept highly polished and the cloth portions pressed and tidy. For his days off the clock Sebastian has a few pairs of slacks, five different long sleeved shirts, about ten short sleeved ones, and three pairs of pajama bottoms. Not counting his two pairs of work shoes, the man is the proud owner of one pair of boots, one pair of walking shoes, and one pair of slippers. The most of any article of clothing he has goes to socks and underwear, because if anything's important to have, it's clean socks and underwear.
Accessories are sparse for Seb, he doesn't see much point to them unless they apply to a job or certain task. That being said, his revolve around his including a whistle, baton, and a simple pocket watch. Out of all three of those things, the watch is the only thing consistently on him at any given time because if anything, he likes the ability to know what time it is without having to look for a clock tower or the best place to view one.
Distinguishing Features:
Sebastian's musculature stands out as a decent distinguishing feature. Even the loosest sleeves don't hide his biceps and coupled with his height children probably think he's a giant. His eyes are also very identifying both for their dark coloration and how they stand out against his skin and hair. Likewise, his hair's coloring is probably one a person might not forget, especially since his greying is so obvious.
Personality: Determined | Stern | Health Conscious | Loyal
With a big and imposing build, one might want to think Sebastian's a big softie on the inside. While this isn't completely false, Seb's personality seems to stick with his 'big and imposing' appearance more so than not.
Being a police officer isn't a job for the weak-hearted. Sure, Seb might just be a simple beat cop, but it still takes balls to willingly go out and look for trouble and even bigger ones to throw oneself into that trouble in order to set that corner of the world right again. Because of that Sebastian DuPont is more than a little gruff and stern at first meeting. He has to be when working and it seems he hasn't quite learned to turn off that mode when not on the job. Couple this with the fact he's a very masculine guy and you practically have your 'big and imposing' descriptors right there. Going into that last trait, Seb is masculine in that he is a guy's guy and one of the boys, even if he doesn't drink or smoke along with them. Crass jokes, boasting and chest beating, sports, and all that ilk are his forte and he's happy in that respect. The arts, dancing, what wine goes best with what cheese...any such topic and you'd have him lost in an instant and he'd much rather the conversation move on to something else entirely, thank you.
As it's plain to see from the below sections, this man is quite clearly health conscious. He takes good care of himself - and others if someone needs to rely on him - and makes sure he is in peak physical condition and health at all times. That's not to say he doesn't take time to relax or that he's a meathead with nothing but pumping iron on his mind of course. Seb just finds that the best way for him to de-stress is to go for a run or a swim and believes the best tasting food is bought fresh and prepared by his two hands.
Although stern, Sebastian is not heartless, nor is he completely stony. He's not the sort to come out and be your best friend right off the bat, but he's not at all against giving a nod and polite - if not curt - 'good morning' to anyone who happens to catch his eye as he passes and he still has his fair share of friends too. He's not the best conversationalist however, and struggles to keep idle conversation going with anyone, civilian or fellow officer. This is because of lack of trying for the most part, but you can't exactly blame the man when almost all of his attempts haven't yielded fruit.
Lastly, Seb follows a routine. He loves the routine he's in and anyone who calls his life a 'rut' has to reevaluate their own lives in his opinion. He's not used to changes in the routine - the most major ones generally being on the job, but even then disturbances to his patrols are seen as natural and unavoidable - and if his daily schedule is upset he ends up feeling off for the rest of the day. It's generally a nagging feeling, nothing too serious usually though if so he will be left visibly surly, but he'd much rather pencil a person or event in rather than just have it sprung on him willy-nilly. He can much better prepare for it that way.
Likes/Dislikes:
Good food, good work, and good health are high on Seb's list of likes and each one sections off into lists of different things under those subtopics. In the vein of good food, Seb loves healthy and homemade foods including mushroom soup, seafood, fruits, vegetables, and breads. He's not one for junk food all day every day, but once in a blue moon gets a hankering for blackberry pie that he does indulge in for that brief period. Good work applies to his job and any personal tasks he has at hand, whether it be for pleasure or for the good of his home like fixing a leaky pipe or unsticking a particularly stuck door. Sebastian likes working with his hands and he has a fondness for whittling both as a hobby and as a good way to pass a particularly idle stretch of time. Good health sort of applies to good food in a way, but this encompasses his enjoyment of working out and just being all around healthy. Sebastian abhors getting sick and he avoids it in any and all ways possible. Like Zelda, he also enjoys the water and swimming is one of his tried and true loves, though he's not particularly fond of rainy days, especially if they're cold ones.
As far as dislikes go, alcohol and smoking are vices he perceives to be disgusting and unappealing. He is also wary and not tolerable to those who talk fast as in his experience those types seem to always be wanting to get something out of someone else. Laze-abouts and "dirty punks" fall into this category as well, with the latter being, in Sebastian's words, the sort who would do wrong to others like pickpocket or mug.
Hobbies:
Not all of Sebastian's hobbies revolve around the globe that is health, but a few can be seen as extensions of this particular hobby. Cooking is one, and even though he isn't the 'invite people over and entertain them' type, Seb does like to bring a pie or other dish to one of the police station's potlucks both to get some more practice in and soak up a little bit of praise and admiration for his skills. Sticking with food, Sebastian also likes to keep a small garden when possible and though he will admit he's not very good at keeping plants alive, he still makes an attempt with a tomato plant or two every spring all the same. Going out and taking walks is another hobby of Seb's, even if he can sit down and read for awhile, he does get itches to move about and can get surly without some sunlight every day or so. Swimming is a good way for him to do this and every summer it's not an uncommon sight to see him at the beach on his downtime, soaking up the sun, sand, surf, and a beach-going lady or two. As stated before he also likes to whittle, and this is a good distraction during the cold winter months or on a day where the rain is coming down particularly heavy. He also simply enjoys working with his hand and a hobby of his is just going around his home, fixing what he can and keeping his abode in tip top shape.
History:
Born to a pair of grocers, Sebastian has lived in the Floating City his entire life and has rarely left its boundaries save for the odd family outing during the summer months. He attended and graduated school there, fallen in and out of love there, gotten into scrapes, made friends, worked and strove, and had some of the best times and worst times of his life there too.
Although his life has been fairly standard as far as lives go, his interest in becoming a police officer stemmed from an incident that occurred at his mother's store when he was ten years old. After school each day, young Seb would walk from his class to his mother's establishment and, after homework was done, pitch in with stocking, sweeping, and other small tasks that needed to be done. That particular day had gone much the same as any other until a customer came in and brandished a weapon, demanding money and making loud threats to his mother and two other women who were just getting their weekend supplies. Sebastian was in the back at the time the man came in but watched the scene from a crack in the door connecting the store with the backroom, planted firmly to that spot by fear. His mother, he saw, tried to resist such bullying by stating they had nothing to give as business had been slow but that did nothing to make the man leave and instead earned his mother a clock on the head that sent her sprawling. The two women in the store shrieked as Sebastian's mother hit the floor but cowered right after as the man took a few aggressive steps toward them. When they did, he turned his attention back to the counter, hopping over to attempt to get the register open with mounting frustration as the constantly sticking door on the machine refused to do so.
Although the would be robber was in a rush to get in and out, the machine proved to be a worthy adversary and he refused to leave empty handed. This was is undoing as the women's frightened scream had alerted someone outside and sent them running for the posted patrol officer. Said officer had wasted no time in getting to the scene of the crime in progress and Seb had watched him burst through the front door, vault over the counter top, and whack the criminal across the head with his baton with a speed Seb could only describe as 'blinding'. The criminal was then apprehended with a well-practiced ease and the day had been saved. Even better, his mother was fine but with a sizable knob on her head for two weeks following - and a great impression had been left on the young boy. From that moment on, Seb wanted nothing more than to be like that police officer and he would have been damned not to try to get there.
Such determination did not go unrewarded. Sebastian put in all the effort he could, starting with his health and physique. He had always been a stringy child, but the man who had saved his mother and her business had been nothing short of a superhero and his current physique wouldn't do. Puberty helped this development along, but it wasn't until his mid-twenties that Seb reached the current build he now has. Of course, it wasn't just the body that he focused on. Sebastian also put more effort into his studies because an officer wasn't just strong, he was also smart. He never made valedictorian - in grade school or the police academy - but he did well enough that his prospects looked brighter and his parents were happier too, even if they did originally want their son to take over the family business.
One of the happiest days of his life was getting the coveted acceptance letter to the Aimes police academy. It came during the first few weeks of summer after Seb had finished grade school and the now eighteen year old Sebastian was over the moon. As he had before, when he was in he worked his butt off, and the investment was returned to him. In three short years Seb was trained up, eager, and in the top percentage in a class of twenty-seven other men and women. He was happy, his parents were happy for him, and he was starting his new life upon graduation - moving from the small but comfortable home he shared with his parents to an apartment on the south side of Aimes paid for by his savings and a graduation present of money from his family.
Of course, things were rough in the beginning. Seb wasn't used to living on his own and as a rookie he got the short end of the stick for shifts. Money was also a problem in those early days since the lowest rung got the lowest pay, but if Sebastian was anything, he was determined. He would go days without buying food just to help save up for rent and oil for the lamps, cut into his savings here and there if things got really tough, and even took extra shifts when offered to help raise his status and hopefully his rank. However, for him it wasn't about the money or the fame, it was about doing what was right and helping people. And help people he did, no matter how small the problem - at one point he even shimmied up a tree to rescue a cat; a feat which earned him the moniker 'Sebastian the Cat Wrangler' around the station for several months afterward.
In the end there were good days and bad days - some of his worst including finding a murder victim and promptly throwing up on the crime scene which he inwardly feels is keeping him from a promotion and being sent off to find a suspect only to be informed after an all day search that the report was made by an bitter old man who had a vendetta against an otherwise innocent neighbor - and there continue to be. Through it all Seb has grown and changed - for the better or so he says. He thinks he might not be on the same tier as that man who had saved his mother, those women, and the store that day just yet, but he's aiming for that still and firmly believes he'll be there someday...even if he doesn't exactly realize he's already right where he's desired to be all along.
Anything Else:
Seb has had two relationships in his thirty-two years. Both women came into his life after he left home and both relationships didn't last more than a few years, due in part to conflicting interests. Seb wanted to work and keep with his routine, while the first woman wanted to settle down after dating him for a year and a half and the second wanted to see the world before doing much else. Seb still keeps in touch with the second - a brunette by the name of Lorelei - but most of the time his letters come back to him due to her having moved on to a new location in the time it took her postcard or letter to be sent to him. He'd be willing to give their relationship another go if and when she ever comes back home, but it's looking as if that won't be any time soon.

Both characters are fantastic and solid. I'd like to see a little of how they'd interact. Does Zelda's constant procrastinating drive him up a wall? How does he deal with it?
Also, does Zelda have any extra special traits, such as mild control over water or idk leaving slightly damp footprints everywhere?

Eeee~ Love love love. XD
My question is: How does Seb handle Zelda's procrastination, wandering off, and dislike of being rushed if he likes everything to be on a schedule? He doesn't like laze-abouts, but yet it seems Zelda loves to do just that!

Sem: I'm glad you like them! ;u; <3
I see her procrastination being a real niggling point for him for sure (also I can see him being rather uncertain of her because she's gonna be a kid who loves to take baths what even is this XD). As far as dealing with it, I'm a tad uncertain at this point. I can definitely see him trying to make her do it, perhaps even try to bribe her after a point. Maybe he might say 'All right as long as it's done by (date or time here), then you're fine'. 8Ua It's a bit up in the air at the moment I'll admit. I haven't played this dude before even though he's been hanging around the ol' noggin.
Powers I'm uncertain of for right now and I think I'd like to talk to Chrys or BP about them to be safe. >O< Traits though...since she's an aquatic critter, I think some degree of underwater breathing would be doable at the very least! Also since jellyfish lack a central nervous system I would think it pretty cool if she had a high resistance to pain or didn't feel it at all (though that would probably be stretching it).
Niki: :'D <3
As far as her wandering off goes I can really see him being freaked out or scared the first time she does that and going into instant cop mode to try and track her down again. XDD As far as procrastinating, see above, but for the being rushed I can see him trying to hurry her along, constantly checking the time, etc etc. She's not so much stubborn as she is just very very...fluid I guess I would say? Like if he pulled a shirt over her head, picked her up, and barged out the door with her under his arm she'd just be like "|3" the entire time lksfjsdklfjsdklf.

I have to say your description is inspiring - I might just have to do some art for you when I have the time ^_^ I also hope our quests come into existence around the same time - I think Zelda and Chiorli would be great friends (Love of food + love of baking XD). I really like it ^_^
