It was early morning when Kindra was roused instantly by Suunath's angry Bellow as the Gold leapt into the air towards the beast Pens. She didn't bother to dress properly, merely grabbed a wrap to cover her nightgown. She was terrified but she'd been expecting this, The talk she'd had with N'mol previously had her expecting a bit of what she was getting from Suunath.
N'mol..... She hoped he'd be there soonish. She lifted her head produly and stepped out of her room, her mind full of Suunath who was currently just deciding which creature she would grab first, she turned her head towards the direction her Dragon was no in and waited, reaching through her bond to clamp down on Suunath.
"Blood it Suunath... BLOOD IT, let us show these other Weyrs just HOW it should be done, fly long and hard my love, but for that you need to blood it ONLY" she commanded her Queen, she'd never demanded anything of Suunath before so the Gold was alert to her, she fought with Kindra's Will only a little before clamping her jaws on the beast she had downed and drinking it's blood only, her tail lashing, Daring any of the males that were now gathering to select their own kills, to even TRY and grab her before she was ready.
Suunath chose another three kills before she was satisfied and glanced around at the males around her. She gave a snort, as if displeased before she leapt up and into the air. Her eyes whirring purple but giving flashes of Red. She would tolerate no games today.
"If you think you are worthy, just TRY and Catch me, i wish only for the best!" She screamed into the minds of the gathered males as she whizzed overhead before gaining altitude, striving for height and to get as far from the males as she could before they could get off the ground. Just let them TRY, she would show them.... she would show them she was a QUEEN!

Hatteth had been sulking ever since he lost Hyweth's Flight. Why had she let someone else catch her? His rider tried to console him with the fact that at least a bronze hadn't caught her, but he was having none of it. He refused to talk to Hyweth and spent a lot of time swimming out in the lakes.
He'd been dozing on the shore when he heard a bellow. Curiously he looked over to find a gold was blooding her kills. He stared for a moment before rolling to his feet and bounding over. A gold rises. I chase, he informed his rider. He never caught anyone, besides Hyweth that one time, but at the moment he didn't care. He just wanted to chase again.
It was early enough that J'nes was still sleeping when he Hatteth woke him with the news. He turned to look at J'len, who was still sleeping beside him, then slipped out of bed and pulled a coat on. Best to leave her be, it wasn't her Flight. He slipped out of the hut to spend the Flight elsewhere.

D'lin had been expecting this for a little while, although he had been somewhat surprised that the younger Sunnath was rising first he'd trusted his dragons assurances on the matter. Such were the ways of dragons after all. But expecting it and looking forward to it were two entirely different things - he'd grown to like N'mol and even Kindra in the brief times he'd spoken with her...and he knew, without a doubt that this flight would be hard, perhaps not the flight itself..but the aftermath.
To be honest he almost wanted to try talking Plexith out of flying but any attempts on that matter would be like bringing a toothpick to mine ore, Plexith's will was iron strong in this and the bronze had made it perfectly clear that he was flying - regardless of his rider's opinion in the matter. And so D'lin had resigned himself to supporting his dragon despite his inner worries and it was hard to resist the bronzes inner determination when he had informed him of the event.
'She flys!' The bronze suddenly declared, D'lin getting the impression of Plexith surging after her only moment's later. 'Fly well' He bid the bronze whose bugle echoed across the Weyr in answer to the queens, large wings beating the air as he gained altitude and D'lin was left to pick his way to the Goldrider's hut...much like many other bronzeriders were no doubt doing.

Another Flight, so soon after the crimson's, but this was a gold's. But not Cepheith's. No, this was the Benden gold, but a gold was a gold and he would chase her, he would have her. He was still furious about losing Hyweth's Flight, and he would not allow himself to lose this one!
Pipith was at the pens as quickly as possible, and then into the air after her with a resounding roar. She wanted the best? He would give her the best!
Set'al, as always, was considerably less eager about all things Flight-related, but there wasn't much to be done for it but find his clothes and get moving. His foremost thought was that at least it wasn't Cepheith who was Rising yet. He was coming to dread that day.

N'mol didn't need Tyeth to tell him once he felt the Bronze's swell of excitement and possessiveness, but he did anyway. She Rises.
N'mol was already close to Kindra's weyr, but he took the distance at a run anyway. He wouldn't be late. He had to be there for her, even if she wasn't aware of her surroundings by the time he arrived. He needed to do it for himself, and he was sure he wouldn't be the only one present either.
Tyeth followed Suunath to the feeding grounds and kept his distance. When she was in the air, he launched after her, one of many in a flurry of males looking forward to the long, hard chase of a Gold. He had courted her for a long time, but he knew that was no promise that he would win. And that meant he would have to prove himself worthy in the air as well.
He gave her space, but stayed relatively to the front of the pack. He wanted none of these males trying something sneaky to catch her before she had made her own decision. That might just result in a warning swipe (or three) from Tyeth, provided it didn't slow his pursuit of her much.
N'mol came on to the scene, not the first there clearly. However, D'lin he recognized and the group was yet small and he thought those there were primarily Bronzeriders. N'mol stepped easily in to the circle, daring only an extra half step on anyone else, since Tyeth was close to Suunath as it was. He didn't want to incense anyone already fully drawn in to their dragon.
"I'm here, Kindra." He didn't know how far gone she was, but Kindra had a stubborn streak in her. It would be just like her to fight off being fully encompassed by Suunath to make sure he kept his promise. "We're here."

Nachith, having just recently caught himself a lovely crimson, was feeling very good about himself, and perhaps a bit taken with her as well. Hyweth was his first crimson, and that was exciting, and apparently enough for him to start developing one of his little crushes. Not enough, however, to keep him from participating today!
He knew he almost certainly wouldn't win, as this was a gold and he was a brown, and it wasn't really his place to catch her, but...but it was a Flight, and it would be fun! So into the air he went with a jubilant bugle, leaving his rider to find his way to the group of humans.

The tension in the weyr had grown nearly thick enough to see over the last few days. With the glowing hides and primal emotions of two females permeating the air it had been hard for Z'fer to concentrate. It had made his budding relationship with Hekate difficult to manage as well. She understood the procedures of mating flights, or at least she said she did, but Z'fer was learning to tell when she bottled things up inside.
It couldn't stop him though. Even if he'd wanted to Calanoth would not be dissuaded. The morning found them asleep together outside as was their usual arrangement. The bronze had slept lightly for the past few days, alert for any change in the little Benden gold. There. Now! Calanoth surged to his feet dumping Z'fer to the soft grassy turf below. ~ It is time Mine! We Fly for Malvren!~ Before Z'fer could even sit up Calanoth was winging into the air, his hide gleaming and his eyes bright with passion and challenge.
He wasn't the first dragon there but as Suunath made her final kill he hovered in the air above the feeding Grounds. He had no need to kill today. Today he had need to Fly, and Suunath, that coppery little beauty, would be His!
Z'fer didn't bother going back to his shared hut for clothes. Sleeping outside meant he at least left himself decently covered from the waist down. No at this point appearances didn't matter. He'd met the rider of the Queen and he knew from the way she'd looked at him that Kindra wouldn't deny him on looks alone. He arrived at her weyr, confidence in every step as her queen finally rose and issued her challenge.
Calanoth surged after her as she took off. He roared out his own challenge. ~ If you want the best then I will SHOW you the best! None can compare to your beauty or MY Strength!~ (18, 2, 4, 1, 4)

(18, 2, 4, 1, 4) He had been watching her over the last few days. She looked like any proddy gold; beautiful, but not different to the usual. What was more interesting was how the other males watched her, here in this melting pot of theirs. What would it mean to the riders and dragons of Benden if Sunnath was caught by one of their own? What would it mean if she was not? Brumath pondered these and other matters as the glowing female bellowed and surged forward to blood her kills. This would be a race to watch, one that he suspected would bring out the worst in many even more than a normal junior gold flight. This was, or could be, symbolic. If he was to observe then he was going to have to join in the chase. Decision made the old brown stretched his wings, beat them experimentally a few times and then calmly sprang into the air. With his eyes shifting slowly from blue to purple he reached out to address Sunnath.
F'itz meanwhile straightened his jacket and stepped out of the weyr he was sharing with a number of other riders. This was not like the last flight, this was a proper female, and one of Benden's own. Failing to attend in due course whether Brumath won or not would be a slight.

Slowly Hekate's eyelids flickered as she woke cracking them open to stare at the ceiling of the hut from where she lay on her pallet covered in flits. While she had moved the nest with her when she changed weyrs the entire fair had taken to sleeping with her out of comfort for the familiar. Luckily as she glanced around her spying her flits tucked against her or half snuggled under the cover's she found herself relieved that none of them had been awoken by the Gold's scream.
It is time Mine. Devith rumbled low in his rider's mind taking a bit more care to be gentle that morning. He knew His had been trying hard not to think about the upcoming flight and just enjoy the time she had. Now however it had been thrust upon her and she had no choice, but to wait and watch for the outcome.
Slowly Hekate sat up carefully moving her flits to the side earning a few sleepy cheeps, but none other then Baron awoke. Even the little brown himself only cracked an eye open long enough to crawl up her arm and settle himself on her shoulder determined to ride this whole encounter out with his beloved owner. Getting up Hekate drew a robe around herself slipping on her sandles as she pulled her hair back with her clip. She doubted Devith would care what she looked like and no one else would see her this morning, but that didn't stop her from checking her reflection in the water basin and adjusting her clip. Stepping past the two sleeping green riders she carefully pried the door open cracking it just far enough to slip out before closing it lest it creak and wake them up.
Devith had settled himself on a small grassy knoll not too far from their weyr to watch the flight so as to not wake up his two green friends with His rider and his chatter. As Hekate closed the door he half turned watching her approach his eyes whirling a deep blue and green of affection, but the flashes of yellow easily gave away his keen concern for his rider. When the red headed woman drew closer he settled down offering his foreleg as a seat which she took as Hekeat leaned back against his neck. Then dragon and rider lifted their heads to the sky watching as the Queen bellowed and took flight her suitors close to follow. One would have to be blind to miss Calanoth among them.
Are you worried Mine? Devith finally asked his voice ripe with affection and love only Hekate would ever hear as he gently inquired of his rider.
Smiling up at Devith Hekate took a deep breath trying to shrug off the anxiety and worry that plagued her heart in favor for the calm of the early morning light. "No." She replied stroking his shining dusky silver neck.
"Even if he fails to keep his word. Even if everything he's said is not, but pretty lies I still have you. You're all I've ever needed." Hekate explained with a soft smile her love warming their bond like the first rays of a summers day.
"And of course we have the flits." She added gently picking Baron up from where the little brown was all, but asleep at his post on her shoulder to set him in her lap. Baron peeped his disapproval however the little noise was silenced with a crooned when Hekate began to scratch his eyeridges.

It surprised his rider when he announced the rise of a gold with a bugle. He was most definately going to chase. Scarath rose from his wallow and took a quick flight over to the feeding pens to watch Sunnath feed. He blooded two beasts on his rider's orders. Purple filled his eyes and his bronze hide gleamed in the early sun.
Are you actually going to try this time? His rider asked. S'kor was himself joining the knot of riders who's dragons were participating. As an early riser he was already dressed and prepared for the day. He gave a distracted glance toward the queen's rider. A woman from Benden. Was it a good sign that two dragons had risen is so short a time? S'kor had a feeling the candidates would be happy.
In answer to his rider's taunt the large bronze flung himself into the sky after the gold. He even managed to get himself a slightly good position in the pack too. At least he wasn't tail end like in the crimsons. Scarath shook his head. He needed to focus on the gold. A wave of encouragement filled him from His. The brozne gave a soft rumble and deepened his wing beats. There he briefly recognized Plexith, Pipith, Tyeth, and Calanoth for the bronzes, along with a number of browns.
Then it will be upon you to choose the best.

Suunath was furious, why were these males wasting time talking to her.. First there was Calanoth, as cocky as his rider, she spared the Bronze little more than a glance as she noticed he, and several other Bronzes were closing in on her. Screaming again she strove for more speed, her smaller size lending her more manvouerability than most yes she was still easily the same size as most of the Bronzes, there were one or two larger ones then.. ah... there was one that did not make her feel as small, since he himself was small for his size. She had seem him around and he was gaining.
She was less than impressed a Brown spoke to her but she recognised him as from Benden, She remembered, through hers, the Brown, he was Old... which meant he had experience perhaps. That and Kindra's preference for a Benden Dragon gave cause for Suunath to give the Brown a little more respect than she may have during the Flight.
Tyeth.... Tyeth was there.... For a moment Kindra withdrew as much as she could from Suunath, eyes searching for his Rider, she heard his words and smiled, her face still full of fear despite that. When a Bronzerider dared to try and get close, his dragon attempting a manouver to grab for Suunath, both Kindra and Suunath screeched and lashed out at the same time, Once gain Kindra was Suunath, was lust and joy .... and rage at the dirty trick. Both Bronze dragon and his rider were forced to withdraw from the Flight, one dripping blood from a gouge in his cheek from Kindra's nails, the other dripping Ichor from a wound on his neck caused by Suunath's twisting claws as she fought away from the male, she was NOT ready yet... and Tyeth was there, and Pipith and another, a Huge Bronze Scarath... Not ready... it was too soon just yet.
This would NOT do... not at all, they were all too close far too close. Suunath screamed again, eyes flashing red as she suddenly dived down and forwards, away fro the chasing males, thus revealing her drive for height originally, she had room to fly and dive and twist away from the males, only the best would catch her, only the best would do. No matter the Weyr
(note, the bronze and rider are a random pair and have withdrawn from the flight, just tossed it in for dramaz XD)

Why was it that females had such an aversion to speaking to him recently? Perhaps it was the heat. Perhaps he was just chasing a lot of beasts of late; the way the gold lashed out certainly supported that. Nevertheless he kept up his pursuit, because he still wanted to observe the other males and to see if perhaps he could draw a reply out of the gold as he had from the red.
he queried, his tones calm and curious even as his wings strained. Had she risen in Benden, and risen first, this flight would make her Queen of all the Weyr. As it was it would lead to much needed eggs, but not great benefit for her. Power? Of course.

Tyeth gave Suunath her distance, knowing she would want the joy of Flight before she allowed someone to catch her. Note: allowed. The Bronze who tried to take her stealthily had gotten what he deserved for trying to touch her before her say-so. Tyeth didn't spare him more than a passing disdainful snort. The time for politeness and courtly behavior was over. No male here would recognize him as the same dragon. He was in this to win, win the prize he had worked so hard for. That meant resorting to whatever means necessary when it came to his competition.

Pipith had made note of Suunath's size as well - privately, of course, as he would never point out any other dragon's small size, given his own feelings on the matter. But that this gold was small might bode well for him: she was agile for ehr size, and so was he! Much more so than those lumbering, oversized males who thought that that made them better. Well, he would show them!
He dove after her, doing his best to follow closely, but wary of using up too much of his energy so early in the Flight.
