Fleur walked briskly, partly to keep warm and partly to stop herself from thinking. Seeing that she hadn't made a play could keep her in a bad mood for days, and she'd only had minutes to deal with the disappointment this time. The first crash didn't stop her. The second made her turn, then the screams started. People were running, and Fleur almost joined them, only this time, she wasn't helpless. She glimpsed the monster- no, the half-remembered word youma flashed through her mind- a moment later. It had filthy white fir. It was a bit bigger than a human and about the same shape, with stubby legs and oversized arms. Fleur ducked behind a dumpster and rummaged through her bag for the pen.

"Cybele power, make up!" Silver lights, a bit of energy... Sailor Cybele didn't have time to admire these. She ran like the wind towards the youma, vaguely noticing as some of the fleeing people gave her strange glances. It turned towards her as she approached. "A worthy opponent, hmm? But you're going down!" There wasn't much nearby, just a bit of gravel. Cybele took a piece and hurled it at the youma with all her magical strength. "Fight me, you beast!" It looked annoyed. Then it roared. Loudly. For the first time, Cybele noticed the partially crushed cars. She saw that the youma was twice her size. And she remembered she had no idea how to fight.

There was a saying that Super Sailor Tsui had heard many times before but never truly respected until now. "There's ain't no rest for the wicked" was the phrase, and Tsui felt that it needed to apply to the 'good' as well. Despite her revelation and hardships, she was always drawn to the fight, and tonight was no different than any other night. The moment she begun her patrols, her senses caught whiff of a dark presence, and without hesitation, Tsui made her way towards it, trying to prepare herself for either of the following: a strong Negaverse officer or their Corrupted Senshi, a Dark Mirror Senshi, or one really big youma.

Just as her luck would have it, it was a large youma, which was great for Tsui. It meant no talks, or offers to join the 'dark side' or pity them. No sentient being to talk to, anyway, thought it still dug under her skin to think that they were once...

Her train of thought was completely derailed when she heard someone shouting, as well as seeing a piece of gravel fly and hit the youma. She spotted the destruction of the cars as well, but Tsui, as reckless as she was, thought little of it. No, her eyes were set on the one that had caught the youma's attention, and she couldn't help but admire the bravery of that Senshi. "Glad to know I'm not the only one picking fights with things out of my league..."

There was no if, ands, or buts about it; Tsui had to help her out! As it drew closer to the other Senshi, Tsui charged it from behind, looking for an opening and kicking at what she suspected (or rather, HOPED) was its tail with a shout. "Hey, back off, car wrecker!"

An eternity was squeezed into a few seconds while Cybele freaked out. She forced herself to snap back into reality as the youma turned its attention to a girl whose presence screamed senshi as if her clothes didn't give her away enough. (Cat ears? Really?) Cybele flashed the girl a grateful smile, though inside she was rather annoyed. No, angry. She wasn't supposed to need saving anymore!

It seemed that the senshi's kick had been pretty solid, but the youma, annoyingly, wasn't dead or anything. It just looked mad. As in, outraged. It made some unnerving growling noises as it tried to decide who to attack. Cybele was the lucky one, apparently. She shrieked as she quickly sidestepped a large hand that was trying to flatten her, then tripped gracelessly over a shock wave or something that really shouldn't have been big enough to bring her to her knees. She rose quickly, bright red, and leaped out of the way of a second punch.

"You don't know what you're doing either?" It wasn't really a great time for a conversation, but Cybele thought this was an extremely valid point. The comment was delayed a lot... But Cybele was focused on not dying, so... "Look, maybe I can help!" She ran partway across the street, kind of guilty but also really relieved when the confused youma turned its attention to the other girl. Still, it wasn't like she wasn't going to help out. "Cybele hunter's grace!" She put everything she had into those words- and it worked! This was why she wasn't helpless. Cybele aimed the bow that had formed and sent the other girl a blessing disguised as death.

"I... have a general idea of what I'm doing... most of the time!" Tsui said, indignant that someone, whom she was helping, by the way, had the nerve to suggest otherwise. She participated and survived in many a battles, all for some possible rookie to backsass her? Tsui would have mulled over it a little longer, but the youma seemed to be demanding their full, undivided attention, and any sort of chatting they'd want to do would simply have to wait until this youma was dusted.

The other Senshi had shouted something, and Tsui looked in her direction, just in time to see the magic projectile that was shot at her with no time to duck or dodge. Her shout reached the air before the 'arrow' hit her square in the chest, cutting her words off in mid sentence. "What the heck are you-"

The effect was immediate. Everything about her senses seemed to amplify around her: the sound of the youma's clawed feet scraping against the pavement, see ever pore and muscle twitch on its body... the godawful stench of its body odor. For the first time, Tsui felt like a hunter... a tiger on the prowl, and she was determined to make this youma her prey. As the youma was reeling its arm for another blow, Tsui lunged at the youma, white aura forming in her hands and going straight for the underbelly that was exposed as it lifted his clawed hand. "Striking Tiger Flurry!"

If it hit, the creature would go slamming into the wall and would be stunned, giving the two of them the chance they'd need to dust it. All Tsui could hope for was hitting the target, but given the size of the youma, it shouldn't have been too hard, right?

Before the bow even faded from her hands, Cybele's feet hit the ground. Time to get back into action, or something! Though Cybele was still definitely feeling the I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, and I really hope I figure it out before this youma smashes my face in, she was starting to get a grip on things and channel her panic into more productive energy. For example, apologizing to allies who were helping you a lot while giving you really annoyed glances and words. "I'm sorry!" There. But seriously, it wasn't her fault her attack looked like it should hurt! Another example- Fighting youma.

Cybele slowed as it happened. She watched the other senshi's hands began to glow, watched the light become fierce claws. She watched her, seemingly effortlessly, throw the giant beast-youma thing into a wall. Cybele's jaw hit the floor. "You're so... strong," she said, then jogged the remaining few paces to where it was. Everything she'd hoped the rock and kick would do, this pounding had. She looked back. "Do you think it's dead?" she heard it then, a weak growl. Shocked, the senshi of the hunt whirled. In the youma's small eyes, small eyes, she saw no lucididy, nothing human. She hesitated, then punched it in the face really hard.

It was enough. The thing exploded into dust under Cybele's fist. She jumped back, feeling shocked and a little guilty but mostly just relieved. She turned then, looking with respect at the other girl. "I still don't really know what just happened..."

The heightened senses that Tsui was given had ended, right as the other senshi finished off the youma. It took a moment for Tsui to get used to everything being so normal again, but she wasn't going to complain. When she had given her a compliment, Tsui soaked it in and tried to play herself off as a modest young warrior, though she was never good at fooling anyone, even herself. "I try my best when it comes to fighting, no matter who or what it is. It's really all I'm good at."

Once the dust had settled (and given that it was a big youma, there was a lot to settle), Tsui gave the other Senshi a pat on the back to let her know that she did a great job; without her magic arrow, Tsui wasn't sure if she would have had the concentration to get such a direct hit and help end the fight so quickly. At her confession, Tsui flashed her fellow Senshi a confident smile. "So, you new to this gig then? I was too, about nine, ten months ago. It's okay, you'll get used to it. The name's Super Sailor Tsui, Senshi of Tigers."

She then asked, "Who are you?"

As soon as she was safe, Cybele started to go over the fight mentally. Had it been normal, or easy? She couldn't tell, though the size of their opponent made the cat youma that had given her nightmares for months feel like nothing. She snapped out of it when the other senshi patted her on the back, feeling a bit awkward. She'd kind of assumed that she'd go away as soon as the battle was over, the same way she'd suddenly appeared at the beginning. "Cybele," she said without thinking, when she was asked. Instead, she tried thought about Tsui had said. So, she was the senshi of Tigers? No wonder she was so strong. She didn't really look like a tiger, though... Anyway, she deserved a more proper introduction. "I mean, I'm Sailor Cybele, Senshi of the Hunt."

The title still felt weird on her lips. "And you did do a good job. Without you, I would've been... " Dead, really. But Cybele wasn't about to turn morbid. She walked a few steps, turning away from Tsui a bit. "It would have been bad. Because I'm new, yeah, I've never fought before." She turned back, hoping it wouldn't be obvious how embarrassed she was. "I mean, I was awakened a little while ago..." A white lie, it had been months, "But I haven't seen a youma until now. How much do you fight, anyway?" She felt really bad about it, but she had been busy. Inside, she was giving herself all the excuses she hoped Tsui wouldn't ask for.

Tsui was never the sharpest knife in the drawer, and because Cybele was a member of her own court, the Senshi of Tigers was surprisingly trusting towards her. Not once did she think that anything Cybele was telling her was an exaggeration of the truth or even a lie, and she felt a sense of 'mentorship' as she addressed the Senshi of the Hunt. "Well, Cybele, for your first youma fight, you did a kickin' job, though, with that ability of yours, you might want to consider doing your hunts in packs. Or maybe learning a few hand-to-hand techniques, though you did pack a nasty punch."

The dusted youma was proof of that. Sure, she helped, but it was Cybele that laid the final blow... did that mean she got all the experience points? Tsui pushed the thought aside- this wasn't a video game! This was serious business! "I fight all the time. Sometimes a little too much, depending on who you ask, but given recent circumstances, I can't afford to sit back and twiddle my thumbs."

She didn't point to it, but the way she held herself made it clear that she was showing off the rips in her clothing, as well as the scars underneath. Tsui wasn't ashamed of them, not in the least, but she felt the need to show them off, if only to give Cybele an idea of what she was getting herself into. "Youmas aren't the worst out there... between them, the Negaverse and the Dark Mirror Court, we got our work cut out for us."

Cybele was starting to feel a bit detached from the conversation. Tsui was trying her best, but she wasn't really feeling it. Of course, it was probably because she felt really of guilty, this battle hardened warrior singing her praises like she hadn't been not being a senshi for a long time. She'd said nine months. That was about the same time as she'd been awakened, and... the difference was very clear. Cybele couldn't take it anymore."I- I don't mean I was awakened like, last week. It was... this spring."

This happened to her all the time. When she got so wrapped up in everything that she forgot to do things... She hated it, but she still had enough confidence to meet the other girl's eyes. Yet, despite the amount of training she'd had in this area, she still mumbled a dumb excuse. " But, I mean, it's not like anything bad happened when I wasn't around..." She wasn't sure why she had to do this, it was true. She wanted to help people, it was true... but she didn't really want to get hurt, and she didn't have time.

"It's stupid..." This wasn't a comment about the senshi, really, though that's how it must have sounded like. It was just that Cybele was tired, she didn't want to be wrong right then, much less deal with somebody who was obviously much better at this whole thing than she was. "I mean..." she tried to go back to being all polite, and failed. "Really."

Don't have Tsui say too much about the DMC, please, because that would make my other RP really confusing.
PostPosted: Sun Nov 18, 2012 11:01 pm

Tsui always like to act that though she were touch, sturdy, that little could surprise her, but she was wrong. She was always wrong, wasn't she? At Cybele's confession, she was a little surprised- perhaps it was because Tsui had sacrificed a lot of her mundane civilian life in favor of her Senshi one that made her surprised. Or perhaps it was her other confession. The part where she said 'it's not like anything bad happened'...

Yes, it was definitely that part. Tsui could not contain herself, her good spirited smile fading into a more surprised, then almost angered expression, and not one to hide her feelings (well), Tsui repeated the phrase. "It's not like anything bad happened...? How busy were you to have missed the ambush?!"

Or rather, lucky. Though, Tsui felt that she was the lucky one to have witnessed, and survived it, if only a little bit jaded. Before that eventful day, Tsui hadn't really considered the Negaverse her enemies (though the same couldn't be said for the DMC), but it was an experience for her. Not only did she get to see the dark side of her enemies in full force, but she had seen the complete and utter disarray of the White Moon Court as well. To think that someone DIDN'T know about the ambush... it simply blew her mind.

"Well, something bad did happen... but that's not your fault for missing it. Let's just say it was a real eye opener as to just how dark our Chaos-following friends can be..." Then, she admitted, with even more disgust. "And just how messed up our Court is. Two princesses and we still can't get along..."

Not that Tsui was the perfect example of teamwork, but after all the colorful characters she met and argued with, she couldn't help but feel detached from the Court, minus the Jovians and a few others. So long as the Jovians and the handful of others were part of the White Moon Court, so was she... for better or for worse.

Sure thing! I think I can work around that and have Tsui in character. ^_^

Cybele's eyes were glued to the face of the Senshi of Tigers. She was expecting to be properly chewed out, blown up at, whined at, spoken to harshly, and possibly get in official trouble, all while generally losing any respect at all she had just gained by helping with the youma. But, like in all those novels and plays she'd read, that fatal blow never came. Tsui looked a lot more shocked than infuriated. Cybele finally looked away. She was feeling even more guilty than before

"Look," she said, "It is my fault. I could have tried harder, figured something out..." She could have been there. She could have helped, somehow. Not just at this 'ambush', but other times too, maybe... "I should have done something. Just because I didn't know where to start doesn't mean I should have not started." She shrugged, trying to throw the guilt from her shoulders. "I'm sorry." The true thing to say also happened to be the right one this time.

"Chaos. Ambushes. Princesses?" Weren't all the senshi princesses, really? But that could wait. "That's your life, isn't it?" Cybele couldn't imagine her life containing these things. But she was up for it. "I could help. But what would you want me to do?"

ChibiGingi
PostPosted: Tue Nov 20, 2012 4:25 pm

"That's MY life?" Tsui wasn't angry, at first, but now her surprise was slowly making its transformation into that emotion. How did Cybele think that she was that much different from herself? She pointed to her attire, especially her brooch and the intricate tiara that she was wearing, and she could do nothing to hide the slight anger that was edged in her voice. "Last I checked, the moment you put on the suit, that starts becoming your life too. I guess you were just lucky enough to ignore the calling to have missed all of that..."

She hadn't realized that her hands were shaking until she brushed it against her thigh, and she took a deep breath to calm herself down. Yelling at Cybele wasn't going to make matters any better, and she seemed willing to bear the responsibility and make amends, at least. "Sorry... I didn't mean to snap. But what you should do is catch up to speed with things. A few months is a long time, and a lot of stuff happened in between. A lot of crazy stuff."

She could go on and on about her own ordeals, but she figured that this was already too overwhelming for her. "Over the summer, the White Moon Court gathered for a meeting... there was a lot of infighting and yelling going on. Then, we were ambushed by the Negaverse and their allies... it didn't end well for us."

What she wanted to say was 'people died, Senshi and knights alike', but she had a feeling that would just be too much for her to handle, especially if she was the type to get guilty. "Don't trust the Negaverse, or anyone associated with Chaos, for that matter. They'll try to talk you into switching sides, assuming they don't try to kill you outright, but don't listen to them. They're nothing but a sack of lies and heart ache waiting to happen."

'Easier to just... pretend they're all evil and attack without question.' Tsui thought to herself. 'Or maybe just avoid the conflict all together like Cybele and others have...'

"Is there anything else I can help you with?"

Cybele bristled. This girl was making a big deal out of weird things. Of course, she was furious at herself, but that she understood at least. She really hadn't had anything to prove, but it was after she apologized that she had been blown up at. She stood speechless for long seconds, then opened her mouth, forcing her words as slow and calm as possible. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry about your court being a mess. I'm sorry about just being another one of its failures. I'm even sorry about chaos, though that, at least, is not my fault." She didn't get, though, why Tsui was shocked that she hesitated to join this picture that seemed so hopeless.

"And, I'm sorry about me. Really. But... I, of course, don't have to be a senshi. You can't make me." She slipped the tiara from her head, looking at it. She imagined herself snapping it, or throwing it at the ground so that it shattered. She could unlace her sandals and kick them off, tug the flowers one by on from her hair, and rip the brooch from her dress. She could throw them at Tsui's feet, a sacrifice from an unbeliever. But that would be impractical. Instead, she said, "What am I without this, then?" She motioned to her outfit. "Without these? I'd still be a person, just less shiny."

She put the tiara back on. "I will help you, but only because I want to."
She dropped the over dramatic voice, then, feeling a bit silly. But only a little. "Sorry, that was a bit much, wasn't it? But... if I really was new, would you be telling me to catch up? The senshi have been around a couple years, right?" Cybele was trying, so hard, to swallow her annoyance at the Senshi of Tigers, and it wasn't working, so instead she shut her mouth before she said anything else stupid. Instead, she thought about what being a senshi should really be like.

'You're a real pro at making friends, Tsui!' Tsui thought to herself bitterly, seeing how she had upset Cybele despite her best intentions. This was a reminder to Tsui as to why did always did more fighting and left the talking to someone else. She couldn't sympathize with Cybele; the moment she was awakened and this destiny was thrust upon her, Tsui ran with it. She was grateful for the change of pace. She couldn't imagine having a henshin pin in her disposal, but never using it, allowing other things to get in the way. If anything, Tsui's civilian life was suffering from her decision, but who cared about trivial things like school and the mundane life of working for a living that came after school? WHEN YOU HAD A GALAXY TO SAVE?

But getting angry at Cybele would solve nothing. It'd only make Tsui want to punch someone or something, and likely chase the Senshi of the Hunt away. And the White Moon needed as many soldiers and help that they could get. But Tsui just couldn't let that go. "It's not just my court. It's yours too. It sounds to me like you haven't accepted all of this into being your responsibility, and that might be where the problem is."

'Or maybe I'm the idiot for taking all of this so seriously anyway...' Tsui thought, though her sigh made it into the open. She rubbed the bridge of her nose, not realizing how angry she was until the grinding of her teeth had given her a headache. How many times was she going to apologize? It was becoming more frustrating than the thought of ignoring the call for so long. "Yeah, the fight's been going on, even before I suited up. There's a lot of stuff that even -I- don't know about, but there's other Senshi or knights out there that do. I'd suggest going to find them... maybe they'll be more capable of giving you the answers and guidance you need."

When it came to tutoring and guidance, Tsui was one of the worst one could go to. She was a warrior, a fighter. A grunt who might be fighting for a lost cause, but didn't like the alternative at the moment. If Cybele wanted a kind, mentor figure like Obiwan Kenobi or Mufasa, then Tsui was not that person to seek.

"It was a fun fight," Tsui said, trying to focus on the one positive thing, if you could even consider it that, that happened today and not allow her thoughts and her anger get the better of her. "I'm a fighter, through and through- maybe you're not meant for fighting, but that doesn't mean you can't be useful in another aspect of this war. There's intelligence gathering, diplomacy attempts, someone needing to plan strategies... maybe that's more of your forte?"

Looking back at the fight, Cybele realized that she had, in fact, had fun. This made her want to throw up. She hadn’t loved it or anything, but there were times, like at the beginning when she got to rush in like an angel, becoming Cybele, using her attack… More times being exited than sad, though she’d been a little scared the whole time. But now she felt bad about the whole thing. “ The fight? It was necessary… and yeah, exiting… but Tsui, I don’t want killing something to be fun. Even just a youma. I’ll do it, maybe eventually I’ll be happy about it. I don’t want to be, though.”

Fighting was one thing to talk about, but the other senshi had been trying to pin the responsibility for her court and even her life on Cybele, who opened her mouth with another round of protests ready. “I…” don’t have to do anything, I told you that already. It’s not really my court, I mean, you’re the only person I’ve met from it, and uh, responsibility? It’s not like I asked for this, not like I’m complaining, but… This time, she forced her mouth shut. More bickering wasn’t going to get them anywhere, though the responsibility thing really was making her skin crawl. Instead, she thought about everything else. “My court? I would love that…” The stars, shone down on the two of them… and maybe more, fighting evil even as they talked.

“I’d love to be part of something, even if it is a mess. I don’t know if I deserve to be called part of it yet, though…” She didn’t need to go over her mistakes for another twenty minutes. She was obsessing and she knew it, but she spat out another quick line in her defense. “If I’d tried the senshi thing before, I would have been doing it for the wrong reasons. I just thought it was cool that I got to be a shiny princess…” Of course, that was probably part of the reason she didn’t take it seriously, but… she wasn’t going to think about this at all anymore.

Instead, she met the other girl’s eyes. “It’s a lot, but… I’ll do my best.”
