Mud Flower had just started growing used to the warren. She had been a hlessi for a good portion of her life and it had taken her some time to get used to being underground and sleeping without one eye open. She had been amazed to find Creek again and even more amazed when the warren rabbits had welcomed her back from her long years of being lost. She didn’t honestly think anyone would remember her, but she was honestly glad that they had. However she still was not quite used to spending all her time underground yet. So she slowly made her way to the surface poking her nose out of the den ears twitching listening for sounds before she emerged fully to look around.
She was careful and cautious, her body pressed into the dirt of the warren entrance as she looked about for signs of danger. There were none, as far as she could tell; which wasn’t to say that the coast was completely clear, just that for right now things were relatively safe. Which was all Mud ever hoped for, she had learned long ago that even if you could not see, hear, or smell danger, it did not mean danger was not about. She slowly rose to a standing position shaking the dirt off before moving down from the hole to a more even set of ground.
She glanced out around the world, taking in all the sights and smells she could before her eyes fell on the back of a black doe who seemed to be sneaking off? Perhaps she wasn’t sneaking but still she was leaving the safety of the area and Mud knew how dangerous it could be out there. Perhaps the other doe would like some company? After all it was safer in twos than it was alone, if gave you someone to watch your back. With that in mind she started out after the doe working her way to catch up with the other.
“Pardon me?” She called out in a voice that was hardly a whisper on the wind. “Would you like some company?” She asked moving to stand beside the doe her body crouched low to the ground, always careful.
