She wasn’t running late per say, not for the movie, at least. No, that didn’t start for another half an hour. What she was running late for was getting a cup of coffee with Lydia! It was just too cold out today, and she really hadn’t wanted to get out of bed this morning…but who could blame a girl for wanting to stay warm?
Raven shivered just slightly, moving through the door into the warm coffee shop and sighing. It was too cold for this time of the year…these were temperatures she didn’t think she’d have to face until January at least…but. What could she do except bundle up.
And bundle up she did. The blonde glanced around the shop then finally spotted Lydia, beaming and going to the small table where the other girl sat, sitting across from her. “So sorry I’m late, Lyd.”
It was so good to see the other girl…how long had it been? Too long, in reality. She felt so out of touch with the members of her court…the only ones she saw on a regular basis were Remarque and Kestrel…but even seeing Kestrel was a pretty rare thing now it seemed…the girl was always out and about.
“How have you been? It feels like I haven’t seen you in about a hundred years at least. What’s been going on with you?”

A glance at her watch showed her expected companion running behind by at least twenty minutes. Generally Lydia would have been annoyed about this, but as their movie didn't start for a while yet, and she had herself a delicious mug full of pumpkin spice cappacino, she was willing to ignore the time and simply enjoy the quiet murmur of the coffee shop and the delicious beverage warming her hands and filling the immediate area with delicious scents.
It helped, cause in what felt like no time Raven had hurried in and over to her table, apologizing for her tardiness. Caught mid sip, the girl merely grinned around her mug for a second or two. "Don't worry about it," she offered, shoulders rolling in a shrug. "You're not late for the movie, and that's what counts."
Usually the girl would have been guilt tripping and bitching up a storm about inconsideration and thoughtlessness, but there were a small few that escaped her bratty wrath for the most part, and though she wasn't sure when, Raven had joined the list.
As for how she'd been? "I've been," she paused, shopping around for an accurate word. "Busy." That'll work. What with juggling relationships, training newbies, and applying to the music department at DCU, it seemed the teen didn't have much in the way of free time lately. "I sent in my application to DCU, and I've also managed to run into some of our newer "friends"." "Friends" being members of the DMC.
"So how about you?" She questioned, taking another sip of her coffee.

Raven gave a shiver as she really started to warm up then nodded. “Well…busy can be good or bad…” She fell quiet, listening to the rest of what Lydia said. “Well, I hope you get in! I know I like DCU a lot better than I liked that little stint at HITS. That place was awful. Like being back at high school with none of the hope of getting out.
She paused, hoping that the stressed word of “friends” did indeed mean more members of the DMC, but that really only served to make her sigh. “The only new “friend” of ours that I’ve met is the one that was shacking up with Jett…”
Though that wasn’t a subject that she really wanted to get into…it made her just a bit angry still, even though she should be over it. It was just. Stupid.
“I’ve been doing school…you know. “Partying” most nights…hanging out with Jett…the normal stuff. But…I don’t know.” The blonde ran a hand through her hair and sighed. “I really miss hanging out with you and Quinn. We should have another girls night sometime. I think it would be good for me. I’m tired of spending all of my time with Jett. By the way, are the new kids cool? Are there any that I’d want to hang with?” She seemed at least mildly excited. It wasn’t every day that there were more than one addition to the court…and she did want to meet them, even if she was going to hold a grudge against them like with the girl that stayed with Jett. Ophelia or something.

Lydia grinned as Raven wished her luck. Considering her skill with the cello she didn't think she needed the luck, but it couldn't hurt, right? "I don't mind HITS, but there's no music program, and that's really what I'm passionate about." She liked technology and science, just not as much as she liked music. One day, celestial warrior or not, she wanted to be a concert cellist.
A ginger brows rose curiously at the mention of some other girl having been 'shacking up' with Jett, and she considered asking for more details on that, but Raven's tone made it clear the subject was still touchy. Instead she let the conversation move along to Raven's life as of late. "I miss it too. I mean I hang out with Quinn quite a bit, being roommates, but we don't go out much, and It'd be nice to get out and do something, just us."
"Cool?" Lydia had to stop and think about that. The only one she'd met outside the fuku as well as in was Arilee, and she rather liked her. "Arilee, she's a spitfire. Really sweet though." Although a bit of a punk, she didn't think the surfer girl would have much trouble getting along with anyone. "Other then her I haven't gotten to know any of them outside of work." Work being their nightly patrolling.

Raven nodded. “Well, if you’re passionate about music, then that’s really what you should be going for. Good for you. I don’t…have much that I’m passionate about in regards to school. I know I should have tried to get into the DCU cheerleading, but…I don’t know. Maybe that’s just the high school part of me talking, you know? Cheerleaders don’t have the same…worth in college as they did back then.”
It wasn’t that she needed to be one of the popular girls…that’s just where she wanted to be…she liked the spotlight. She liked having people know who she was when she walked through the halls. It was…nice to be loved, honestly.
“Arilee, hm? I’ll have to look her up. I mean, it’s always good to meet new friends…I’d like to work with some of them too…” She paused, then gave a smile. “Now that I have a step up…I mean.” This information hadn’t been shared yet, but…she wanted someone to know, and since Lydia was there…she would be the first to know that she had reached the Eternal rank…or at least, she hoped the redhead would understand. They had been doing pretty good with the code so far.

Lydia interlaced her fingers around her mug, soaking in the warmth before lifting it up to her lips so she could sip at it some more while Raven spoke. "I guess it depends on why you'd want to join. if it's for the fun of it, why not? There aren't may real life applications for a cheerleader though." Another sip, then she set the mug down. "What about something like fashion design?"
Was it weird for them to be discussing career paths? For better or worst, didn't they already have a destiny as members and soldiers for the Dark Mirror court? Hard to say really. Who knew how long this war would last, and regardless of the outcome, what it would mean for them after the fact.
It was quite a deep thing to ponder, and here and now wasn't the place. Lydia brought her mind back to the conversation at hand in time to catch Raven mentioning a set up and after a second or two the meaning of this sank in. "Congratulations." Another eternal in their midst was certainly something worth celebrating, though Lydia couldn't help a tiny sliver of jealousy that it hadn't been her earning her wings. All in due time though, surely she was getting close. Envious or not though, she was happy for her friend. "We might just have our excuse for taking a girls night out. This calls for drinks."
Lips pursed, the teen checked her watch. "We've got about fifteen minutes before the movie starts, we might want to think about heading over to the theater." It wasn't a long walk, but they might encounter a line or two before they could get to their seats.

Fashion design…now that was an interesting thing to think about…she liked fashion, that much was a given…but designing it? Remaining in fashion for a living? How would that work out? She thought this through for a long moment, then blinked when Lydia congratulated her. What had she done? Oh, yeah. She was an eternal now. Well at least that had come through with their amazing secret code.
The blonde stood up and grinned. “Well, yeah. If it’s a girls night out you want, I’m completely and totally ready for this.” She held out a hand to Lydia and batted her eyelashes. “Come on, let’s get out of here and go to the movies. But…the girls night out, I want that, I’m getting tired of only spending time out with Jett. I mean, sheesh. I love him and all…but he’s just…”
She laughed then shook her head. “He’s just not another girl. Things get repetitive. Besides. He has a terrible fashion sense.”
Well huh. Maybe she should go into fashion. It was something to think about at the very least.

A delicately smug little grin slid along Lydia's lips as she watched Raven give her idea serious thought. It looked as though she'd suggested something the other girl hadn't considered before, but might be open to. One more brilliant idea to add to the list. "I think a girls night out would do us all well. Do you want it to be just you, Quinn, and I? Or would you be okay with me asking along a few more coworkers?" Code. Arilee would probably appreciate a night out as well, and there were a couple of other Dark Mirror Ladies that Lydia considered great company. Ignoring Raven's hand, Lydia hooked her arm with the other girl's instead. "You should just leave everything to me," she urged, grinning. "But we can always iron out any details later." They did have a movie to catch." Plucking her cup up from the table, the girl dropped it into a bin as they made their way towards the door. Orangeish Sherbert One more post I think should finish it off?
