There was a beep! on Candace's phone, indicating a new message from Aria. Text to Candace If you've got a minute, we'd like to talk to you. We're in the Mist Lounge. - Lance ... Looked like somebody took someone else's phone. Or they borrowed it. Either way, Candace was being summoned.

Candace stared at the message. We? Why..we?
We would like to talk to you.
Had she done something wrong? She stopped to think back on everything she'd done lately. No, she hadn't done anything wrong. Rile up Rep a bit, she hadn't hurt anyone, she'd been on her best behavior. So it couldn't be something bad. It was probably nothing. She enjoyed their company! No big deal. Candace chuckled and rolled her eyes as she pocketed her phone and grabbed her Hunter coat, tossing it on and buttoning it up as she headed out of the dorms and to the lounge.
"Knock knock~." Candace called out as she entered the lounge, looking around for her leader and the division assistant.

"Over here!" Lance cheerfully called, raising an arm and waving. He had abandoned his chair in favor of sprawling out on the couch, his back against the armrest. He kept one arm wrapped around Aria, holding her back and preventing her from getting up from her seat on him.
"Goddamnit Lance I-- oh! Hello, Candace. I see you got our text message that somebody sent." The flush on the division leader's face failed to recede as she gave in to her assistant, leaning back against him. "I'm sorry for the... rather abrupt nature of the request --"
"She lost a bet," Lance helpfully interjected. His laughter became muffled as Aria grabbed the open book on her lap and shoved it into his face, holding it there before continuing.
"Anyway, of late a couple things have popped up. Cass is currently at another base, leaving you. To make it brief: the lines between divisions are blurring even more. Have you given thought to specializing yet?"

Relief washed over Candace like a tidal wave when she caught sight sight of Lance and Aria. Oh, that was a sight. "Oh yes, I got his text." She chuckled, stepping further into the room and watching the two struggle. This was great. It was nice to see Aria relaxed...well..sort of. "It's fine, I've gotten used to it." Candace cleared her throat and made her best Caelius expression. "Trainee! Be here in FIVE MINUTES! I don't give a s**t you're on the other side of the island and it's at least a ten minute walk two minutes!" She grinned again. It was fine, really.
She lost a bet? Oh, Aria. Take your punishments gracefully. Candace couldn't help but laugh watching them fight, snorting when Aria shoved a book in his face. "Don't be a sore loser, ma'am. Think of it this way, when he loses a bet you can punish him twice as badly."
Things had popped up? Candace blinked, sobering up a bit at the mention of Cass. "Ah...kiiiind of.." She frowned. "I mean, like..I've thought about it. There're things I'm good at, better at than I used to be, it's just a matter of if what I'm considering is enough, you know?" She relaxed again, rubbing the back of her neck with one hand and toying with the ring of her other. "I'd like to, it's just a matter of settling on what I think I'd be best at. Did you have advice or something?"

"Don't give him ideas!" Aria snapped, pushing the book against Lance's face harder as if that would stop the uproarious laughter coming from it. The flush on her face deepened as he reached up and removed the book, tossing it onto a table nearby before he wrapped his arms around her in a possessive squeeze. "To be fair," Lance interjected, "When it's from one of us we usually do expect an immediate response. Just keep up the good habit Caelius taught you and we won't have any problems. Speaking of..." Aria picked up. "You're good with others. Have you thought about maybe mentoring the newer trainees? What with the recent changes, Lance and I are busier than ever. I can even give you a task to delegate to another trainee, if you'd like."

"I make no promises." Candace called over Lance's laughter in regards to giving him ideas, looking completely poker faced as she said so. She tried to fight back the smile from watching Lance hug Aria to him but failed, grinning helplessly and even laughing. This was so cute! It was nice to see Lance out and about again. Hopefully he was...feeling better? The thought made Candace sober up and glance briefly at Lance, clearing her throat and moving closer to the two other Mists. She sat on the corner of the arm of the couch where there was space left beside Lance, giving a nod at the man's words. "Mhm, I know." At least they were reasonable about their time frames.
Speaking of..? Candace blinked and looked from Lance to Aria, her curiosity caught. The mention of them being busier did get a bit of a crestfallen reaction out of her, pouting and leaning over to rest her chin atop Lance's head. Busier than ever?! "Because of the council's deaths?" It did seem rather...sudden. And she'd heard it'd been bloody. How the hell did something like that even happen? Candace mentally shook off the questions to instead consider Aria's suggestion. Mentor? She hadn't thought of that, actually. She liked seeing the Mist trainees and she always offered them help, and they were the first ones on the island she would readily drop something for to help train.
"Huh..." She sat up again with a thoughtful little hum. That didn't sound like a bad idea, being trusted to be responsible enough to mentor trainees...and she would still have time to do any missions that cropped up without completely stressing herself out. Hell, she could take some along if it was okay. "I hadn't thought about it, actually. Not to say it's not something I would be interested in just that it hadn't occurred to me as an option...would this be just for the Mists? I'm always happy to help them out should they need me." Sydney's confession of admiration for her still rang through her head sometimes. Candace smiled again.

Aria shot Candace a glare as she began to laugh. She pointed at her eyes, then at Candace: I'm watching you. The division leader shifted, wiggling free from Lance's grasp in order to sit further down the couch, angled in such a way to face both of them. "Mm. The Council's demise was sudden, but coming." Aria shrugged. "There are lots of things to do, and more and more trainees seem to be slacking off." She sighed, shaking her head. "If you decide to be a mentor, it is my personal preference that Mists come first. The other divisions have their own resources they can use." As Aria was speaking, Lance had slowly moved. With a quick motion he had scooped Candace off of the armrest and onto his lap, making himself comfortable. "It couldn't hurt to train others," he pointed out, "The more... useful we present ourselves the more likely we are to get transfers in. We could always use more Mists, and other divisions could use us too." Lance shrugged, adding, "Otherwise, you should probably focus on your own skills first until you come up with things you feel confident in training others in."

The silent threat was met with a cheeky grin and a little wave. Watch away! Not like she had anything to hide. She stayed comfortable on the arm of the chair even after Aria had moved, pouting her lips and glancing toward the door when the leader mentioned trainees had been slacking. "Mm, and sending each other to the infirmary like it's sport." She muttered, rolling her eyes. How many trainees had gone there before their last mission? And how many had been sent there now? It was getting ridiculous. At least the Mists seemed to be behaving again for the most part. Aria's preference was no surprise, not even a little bit. Candace smiled and nodded her head. "Of course. I'm ha--ah!" The only struggle Candace made was simply out of surprise. For a second she had thought she was falling, okay? Don't judge. It was only after she realized where she was that she settled down, making a happy little noise and getting comfortable on Lance's lap. It really was like winning the affections of a cat. "I'll think about it. It's hard picking just one thing to say I specialize in, you know? I can think of so many things I want but picking just one is like just having one cookie from the jar." You can't just have one cookie, it just ain't right. Candace would try not to take too long to consider her options for Aria and Lance's sake though, a couple days at most. She could mentor trainees even without specializing in it though, yeah? Hm. Still...it was something to consider. Possibly something necessary. "Was there a task in particular you had in mind, ma'am?"

The cheeky wave was met with a cold stare from Aria, complete with a twitch of irritation near her eye. The look seemed to intensify with Lance's actions. Aria shook her head dismissively. "There are several things that need to be done, however I will assign them when you have selected a specialization." Lance smirked from over Candace's shoulders. "Jealous?" "No." "I bet you are." "Lance," the was a warning in Aria's tone as she leveled a look at him. She shook her head, turning her attention back to Candace. "While I appreciate your willingness to volunteer, as well as the fact that I can trust you to complete something, the tasks I have in mind are for trainees, not hunters. Your task is to consider specializing. If you were to help out with the trainees, that would be greatly beneficial." "She's so jealous," Lance murmured quietly to Candace. "I heard that."

"Yes, ma'am." Candace tried not to sound too distracted as she tucked her head under Lance's chin and settled against the man. Usually she would allow herself to close her eyes and let herself relax but Aria was here, she didn't want to look dismissive to her leader. Candace had more respect than that. At Lance's question she blinked and looked up at him and then at Aria, trying not to smile at the warning Lance was given. Ha!
She had to look serious now. Candace was probably already pushing her luck right now as it was. "Sure, sure. Understood. I'll let you know what I'm doing before the end of the week. You've just given me more options to consider."
Lance's insistence on Aria being jealous made her grin again, tilting her head back and leaning up to kiss his cheek. "She had her chance and she wasted it~." She settled her head under Lance's chin again when Aria snapped, making her laugh. "Lance started it!"

The flat glare gained a layer of frost as Aria directed it at both Candace and Lance. She crossed her arms, the dark look intensifying with Candace's brazen actions. The look was dropped as she threw up her arms, rolling her eyes in exasperation. "Lance, kindly please stop being a distraction, at least until business is done." The division assistant had closed his eyes, resting comfortably on Candace. When he was addressed he opened his eyes, giving Aria a blank stare. He sat up and slowly released his grip on Candace, holding his hands out as if to show he was unarmed. "She is right, you did vacate the premises before time was up. You do realize that you still owe me, and for breaking the deal early --" "Enough." Aria cut in, "You have work of your own to do too, Lance."

Candace felt the glares before she saw them, opening her eyes in time to watch her leader throw up her arms and give Lance a command. Oops...she'd pushed it too far. Or she was getting to that point. She'd behave now. Even Lance had let go of her, allowing her to sit up and straighten herself out as she moved off Lance's lap. See? She's a good girl. "Sorry, ma'am."
At least Lance was in trouble and not her. She could save this! She could avoid it. "Is there anything else you'd like to discuss while you have me?" See? Candace behaves better than Lance. That terrible, terrible Lance. She'd make it up to him later.

"Yes, actually," Aria replied. "If you're going to consider mentoring trainees, at least take them through the Mist Tower." It wasn't as if she specified Mist trainees. Just trainees to go through the Mist course. "Or drag them to the entrance, kick them in, and lock the door until they come out." The division leader waved vaguely, "Otherwise, think about a specialization. I'm going to be leaving soon, which means if I'm not here you'll need to report to Lance." That made the assistant sit up and snap to attention. "Wait. Wait. You're going --" "Yes." Aria cut through. "I am. You have your own training ahead of you, Lance. Perhaps even Candace could assist you, even." She turned to Candace, gesturing towards Lance. "Here's another task for you: make sure he completes a few training courses and spars. I can't afford to let him warm the bench anymore and need him ready for combat, just in case."

Now that was something Candace was more than happy to do even without prompting. She couldn't help but laugh at the suggestion to just lock them in the tower until they were done. They would be so pissed if she did that to them. She was quick to sober up upon hearing news of Aria leaving, immediately turning to Aria with a look of dismay. No! "You're leaving? For how long?"
She was still frowning even as Aria gave her a task. "Yes, ma'am." She turned to Lance, pouting.
And then suddenly she grinned. "This makes me your keeper." And the amusement was back.

"For however long it'll take me to complete my task," Aria replied with a shrug. "I'm itching to get off of this island. I've already been here for too long already."
Lance seemed to be sulking, his sullen look turning into a smirk as he matched Candace's look with one of his own. "I wonder who will be keeping who? Better keep a close eye on me, then."
Aria once again had a look of annoyance which Lance ignored.
