[Alright, open flight. Match Hyweth's dice.
Bronzes - four dice
Browns - three dice
Blues - two dice ]

Though J'len had noticed Hyweth exhibiting unusual behavior, the crimson rider had made accounts for it due to her dragon's need for space. It hadn't been so long ago that they had had their own weyr, with no need to share it. Even J'len--as happy as she was to be near her weyrmate--was feeling it. Cramped and uncomfortable, J'nes watching her every move. It was enough to make her pace, even with her injured ankle and the warnings J'nes so often gave her. It would take longer to heal if she didn't stay off it!
Hyweth had been irritable all that morning. Hers was injured, and not obeying. [Mine! The crimson's tone was sharp and commanding as she looked down at her rider. Mine, you will stop that? Stop it! I will call Hatteth's. Hatteth's! Mine is doing that again. You have told her not to, and she still does. It angers me. Stop her!

J'len, despite her worry and rebellious pacing, was not new to this. Hyweth had almost consistantly risen four to five times a turn. How she had missed the signs...She wasn't sure. Maybe it had been the distraction of being weyrmated. Maybe it was her injury. Hyweth would start by choosing a favorite--she always did. Whether or not that favorite was the one who caught her, that was a different story. Hyweth never did seem to mind who caught her, as long as they had proven themselves worthy of her.
The last time, it had been Hatteth. Oh, J'len hoped it would be again. To have a flight so soon after being weyrmated would be--awkward, to say the least. J'len hadn't been raised in the Weyr, though she had lived there long enough to be accepting of custom.

I hunger.

The crimson bellowed out a challenge. She flew off, blooding her kills. All those dragons worthy of chasing her, perhaps to catch her, would come. With a fierce snarl, she challenged her rider's authority; J'len was telling her to blood only. She was starved! Only blood, my love. How else will you fly? If you are too heavy, you won't be able to fly well. The crimson obeyed, but voiced her displeasure. She blooded a third, and took to the air.

Gaia glitched on me and rolled twenty four sided dice when I said four twenty sided dice. Trying again.

J'nes had been practically hovering over his new weyrmate ever since she hurt her ankle. Every moment he didn't spend at other work, he was at their shared weyr, trying to take care of her. She wanted to be up and about much sooner than the healers thought she should, and he feared using it too much would just hurt her more. It was a full-time job to keep her off it as much as possible.

Of course, she didn't appreciate the restriction at the best of times, but today she was even more irritable than usual. Irritable, certainly, but still came over for for brief bursts of kissing and cuddling before storming around again. He almost missed the signs. Snappy, tense, oddly affectionate, unable to settle...he caught a glimse of Hyweth and just managed to confirm here hide was glowing when she bellowed and headed for the pens. Then he was busy trying to usher J'len into the weyr to wait out the Flight.

Hatteth had been more observant than any of them, and had been watching Hyweth keenly all day. He had been silent, just watching as the crimson grew more radiant. He followed her closely as she blooded her kills, and was first in the air when she rose. She liked him. Their riders were mates. He had caught her before. He was determined to catch her again!

As he rose, he bugled his response to her challenge; a loud, confident bellow. It was meant both to let her know that he chased, and to warn other pursuers that he would oppose them. He was Hatteth, and she was his!

[Brumath]

F'itz looked up from the chair he was mending; he might not be a crafter of any kind but he was handy enough with basic repairs of this and that. Even as he made that request he felt the shape of what was going on. Surging blood. Glowing hide. Glowing... red.

And so blues were sea and sky, browns the earth... he would ponder this later; for now there was a challenge to be answered.

Brumath launched himself into the air and called to the rising female, long and low.

A crimson! Bolth lifted his head letting out a delighted bugle and bunching his legs readied to leap into the air the moment she took to the sky! It would be his first chase, but hopefully a good one. He could feel his own rider's shock then determination welling up within his steely blue chest as he spread his wings wide.

A female was Rising. A crimson.

Most of the bronzes at Trine would ignore the atypical dragon's Flight, but Pipith was among the few that would not. She was female, she was flying, and he wanted her. He wanted to win. He always wanted to win, no matter what the prize was. Even if her hide was red, that wasn't the point: the competition was. Winning the competition was.

So when Hyweth announced herself, he didn't hesitate. He was at attention and in attendance just as quickly as he could manage, and up into the air after her with an eager bugle.

Oh, yes. A Flight! Flights were pretty much Nachith's favorite thing ever, and though he had no idea who the Rising dragon was, it didn't matter. He loved almost everything about chasing after females (except the other males, when they got all macho and confrontational about it), and had quickly found that there was one major benefit to having nearly three Weyrs' worth of dragons in one place: there were three Weyrs' worth of females to chase! True, he loved greens most of all, if he were to have to choose, but crimsons were quite lovely, too - and golds, of course, but he never actually caught those, so they didn't count quite as much.

The brown was in the air within a matter of moments, abandoning his bath - and his rider - quite abruptly, and as a result was soaking wet and only half-scrubbed. Hopefully the lady wouldn't mind, but surely it was better than being late!

[Opeth]

Xan stabbed herself in the thumb with the needle she was using to repair her riding straps, and said a very rude word. "Shards Opeth!" she cried less uncouthly a moment later, looking up to see her blue already taking to the skies after the crimson. "You could have warned me!"

mine and if they get in my way their ichor shall stain my claws! I shall draw my strength by blooding from the arrogant bronzes!>

Xan rolled her eyes, blinked hard and set her work aside. Giving her sore thumb another suck the blue rider got to her feet and set off in the direction that instinct drew her; she really hoped Opeth won this time, he was so much more relaxed after he won a flight.

Thus far, Mazamath had never really taken more than a vague interest in Flights, as they seemed like an awful lot of fuss and effort to go through on the off chance that he might win. The call of the Rising crimson was cause for little more than raising his head to look and see if it was anyone he knew. He would have gone back to sleep, then, but his rider had other ideas. She thought Flights looked like fun, and she was tired of just watching them from the ground!

"Oh, c'mon, don't go back to sleep!" she begged, prodding gently but insistently at the blue. "It'll be fun! Why don't you just give a try and see? Besides, look at her, doesn't she look pretty up there?" Mazamath rumbled wordless skepticism, but did have a second look, and as he did, Adi continued her efforts to persuade him. "And she's crimson, and that means she might have babies, and that would be awesome. Just think, Maz! Babies."

His was very cute, looking at him like that. And it would make her very happy, wouldn't it? Finally, he assented. Fine. Just this once. We'll see if it really is fun.

Despite his agreement, however, he took his time about rousting himself and stretching before taking to the air to join the pursuit.

S'kor looked up from what he was working on as a dragon bellowed. It had sounded slightly challenging.

A crimson is Rising Mine. Scarath calmly informed His.

Going to chase? An equally calm reply. He felt the dragon consider then confirm. Well he could use a break. With a mental nudge he sent the bronze to blood his kills and take off after the crimson. All in all it was a very slow start for him. S'kor wondered if he'd need to cut back the treats and increase his exercises.

Scarath snorted at the though of forgoing his treats. Duitifully he blooded the kills and leaped after the crimson. It didn't surprise him to find Pipith already in the air, along with a good number of others. The large bronze crooned his position from the back. He could show His he wasn't fat!

A dark blue stired and stretched. He had heard the crimson's call and was going to answer. Mine there is a Flight. That was really all Zurith needed to say. His would just have to deal with the sky and whatnot. The dragon knew his rider could.

With a bellow the blue leaped up into the sky to follow the group. It didn't please him to be in the back. He was surprized to find a very large bronze there as well. They weren't all high and mighty!

(So sorry about the mix up! Skie and I discussed and we decided two dice for blues.)

Hyweth was at a safe distance when she craned her neck to see which dragons were following her. Hm! There were many fine dragons this time around. Fine dragons indeed! Hatteth was among them, and Pipith, a bronze! She would have to tease Hatteth later.

She bellowed a challenge, flicking her tail. They would have to earn her attention! Could they? Perhaps. Perhaps not. None of these were yet worthy. She dove suddenly, picking up speed. Would they follow her? Could they match her?

[Brumath]

Brumath wondered when the crimson merely bellowed rather than responding. The old brown beat his wings steadily, not yet pushing himself hard to catch her. How could a dragon lust for one that merely roared like a beast?

F'itz carefully carefully got to his feet. The flight called to him... but he hesitated. He believed in unity, that it was needed, but he did not yet believe as Brumath did that all dragons were the same. The atypes, they had their skills, but the cost of them... it was not something he could codon. It was not something he would be a part of.

The brownrider picked up the chair he had been repairing and wedged it in front of the door. Whatever the outcome, he would have no part in this flight.

Hatteth barely glanced at the other dragons chasing Hyweth. Bronzes, other browns, even blues? They did not deserve her. Hyweth was his! He snarled at the dragon who was closest to her besides him, a bronze. At the moment he didn't care that he was smaller than the metallic dragon. He just wanted the other to back off.

Then Hyweth was diving, and he folded his wings to dive after her. He crooned at her as he chased, encouraging her to look at him. He was here! Close and getting closer! He angled his wings to spin a bit as he descended, hoping the flashy move would catch her eye.
