personality Dignified and proud, Hadar has at least a century of wisdom under his belt and is generally well respected by others. He is a very traditional sort of centaur: territorial, protective, and politely deferential to the leader of his herd - and of course, mistrusting of humans, a trait that has both come naturally and been socially engrained in him. Despite this, Hadar still feels it would be best for both species to maintain a civil, if not friendly, relationship, and he does his part by acting diplomatically towards any humans he meets and advocating peace until violence is proven necessary. More generally, his age and experiences make him a natural advisor, although he always warns against relying on the word of a single centaur.
He has a tremendous respect for almost all animal and plant life, and believes in giving back to the Forest what you take from it. Therefore, he can often be found replanting all the plants and herbs the herd burns for their divining activities.
background story Born in the 1920s into the main centaur herd in the Forbidden Forest, Hadar grew to know the Forest extremely well over the next sixty years of his life. Uninterested in the more "political" aspects of the herd, he stayed well out of the way of any decisionmaking to tend to the flora of the Forest instead, living relatively alone.
Sometime a little while after You-Know-Who rose to power in the 1980s, Hadar left for Greece - a decision that he claimed the stars had written for him. There, in the homeland of the centaurs and free of any petty human wars, he flourished intellectually. Only when the second British Wizarding war began, when he heard that Hogwarts had been taken over by Death Eaters, did he return, determined to do his part by defending the herd. Despite an initial awkwardness upon rejoining the herd, he later became one of the fiercest warriors in the Battle of Hogwarts - an event that left his body scarred and one of his legs severely injured.
Since then, he has done his best to live a peaceful life, occasionally teaching younger centaurs about plants and Divination, and providing advice when consulted.
