Rainfall had entered only one of the races, thus she didn't exactly expect to be promoted right off the bat. The young doe should have entered earlier, this she knew, but what she did, she did for fun. She was a speedy little thing, light on her feet and stream-lined. Running professionally for the warren had never occurred to her before, yet something had possessed her into entering the final, most dangerous race... Which she seemed to breeze through with little to no problem. Her team had successfully and quickly brought back plenty of flay-rah and she had eaten well that afternoon.
Her heart had practically been soaring... But there was the one rabbit who never returned. He had stopped running and this only served to teach her her own mortality. The young, charismatic, energetic, and still somewhat naive doe had her eyes opened. It could have been her. She might have been shot or picked off by elil. Still, she did enjoy a challenge and that added danger only served to spur the little daredevil on.
She now lounged leisurely on he down's slopes, none too far from the main burrows. She was still somewhat full from the fruits of their labor during the races, but she needed to pack on weight for the winter, still. Thus, she nibbled quietly on some still good grass.

Foxtail twitched all over as he nibbled on a large dandelion at his feet. As he had recently become a father he had missed the races and his whole body ached as if to punish him for not entering when he had the chance. Fox was still very much naive and kitten-like despite his offspring, and the thought of becoming a runner was always the main thing swirling around in his brain.
With a huff Fox finished his snack then headed towards the slopes of the Down, trying not to feel upset as the races began to finish up and the winners basked in the glory of their new ranks. One day this chance would be his, but not today. Glancing around, Fox spotted a pretty doe lounging on the bank nearby, and suddenly perking up at the chance to meet another member of the Warren Fox bounced over to her, "HI! Nice day huh? Missed out on the races this time, darn. I mean it's unlike me to miss things, I became a Dad you know? Gosh it'd be nice to become a runner, don't you think? I'm pretty fast when I get going!" he stopped to breath, completely unaware that his back foot had begun to vibrate against the ground as he got more and more excited, "I'm Foxtail, what'syourname? Goshit'salovelyday!" his words started to blend together as he spoke, but Fox didn't seem to notice.

Rainfall heard the buck coming before she saw him. Her long ears swiveled to face him and a soft smile played across her lips. He was a handsome fellow, lovely caramel colour, with a dark foot and bi-coloured ears. He seemed antsy, but not nervous-antsy, more like an excitable antsy.
"It's pretty pleasant, yep! I only managed to snag one, but not due to kittens. Congratulations, by the way! It must be wonderful to have little ones running about. Time consuming, but wonderful. It's good that you are an attentive parli, don't see many of them, unfortunately." And it was true, many got what they wanted and left. It warmed her heart to see males take an active role in their kittens' lives.
"That last race was really pretty dangerous, too! A couple either didn't make it back, or didn't make it back in one piece. Being a runner certainly has it's challenges, but I reckon it'd be nice, too! Anyway, it's nice to meet you, Foxtail. I'm Rainfall!. Do you... Do you maybe want to have a little race of our own?"

Foxtail's headed bobbed as he listened to the lovely Doe's responses, not because he was listening (although of course he was) but because all the energy that had build up inside him felt the need to leak out anywhere it could, "A heard there were a few who followed the black rabbit..." Fox shuffled his feet awkwardly as he said this, not wishing to talk about such things if it might make either him or Rainfall feel uncomfortable.
Suddenly realizing what she had said last his ears stood straight up "A race?!" if rabbits could grin he most certainly would have been beaming from ear to ear at this suggestion, "I'd love a race ooohh, what's the course? Where we racing too?"

"Yeah..." She trailed off for a moment, recalling Falcon and Charcoal. Oh, the poor dears.
She didn't linger on the thought of elil and the black rabbit for long, however. Her stubborn and upbeat personality wouldn't let her and she was nearly instantly on her paws. The other seemed like an absolute outlet of energy, almost as though it was coming off of him in waves, and she couldn't wait to get going. Sure, she was a bit full, but a rabbit had to always be ready to run.
"Hum, well, what about one lap around the warren. He can use this big rock, here, as a marker." She gestured towards an upturned rock, one that would be visible enough to stand out on the return. She hopped towards it, giving it a good, gentle sniff to make sure it would serve them well, before turning her gaze back to her new friend.
"Whaddaya say? Wanna give the go?"
