Due to her unfortunate circumstance of being stuck in the infirmary, or at least in one of the watching rooms in the life labs due to her rather slow healing despite having a weapon to "boost" her along, Ofelia had not spent a good deal of time in the kitchen. The only periods she'd been able to get out had been when she snuck herself out and those times really didn't end too well on her end. One of them had ended with her finding Rep and wondering about stuff that way (meeting Solia was a plus though) and the other had her working with Allan (which could have been a plus anyway).
If there was a chance she could just have the kitchen to herself, a chance where she could bake in silence and maybe make something she had only eaten once or twice as a kid back home, then everything would be okay. Her aunt had made a meal for her once, back when she first came and before her accident, and for some reason it was that meal she was craving deep down. Was it a want of something homemade, nostalgic? Why did she feel like she had to get back a bit of what was lost when really nothing had vanished from her grasp? Perhaps it was the silence in her head brought on by the onset of the evening or perhaps it was just that she was really hungry.
It most likely was the second option since Ofelia would never admit to the first, her river of denial flowing ever so strongly, and she slowly made her way to the kitchen with a book of recipes in her mind. By the time she sneaked back to the hospital she'd have a belly full of something other than hospital food. Nasty, nasty bland food.
Did they not know how to season s**t, seriously.

Madeline was hungry.
There was no other way around the issue at hand; she was starving and if there was a backwards, two headed beaver that looked like roadkill, she would probably roast it over a fire and eat it. Thus, and with no one to stop her, Madeline began the long, arduous journey towards the kitchen, her nose stuck in a book and her long auburn hair pulled into a tight bun. The book itself was an ancient tomb of recipes she'd found somehow buried beneath a pile of guides on not getting yourself killed in a variety of situations in the library. Most of it was nonsense to her - she was a medical student, and anything kitchen-related was better left out of her head lest she somehow cook a brain instead of a turkey for thanksgiving one year.
As the empty kitchen came int sight, she lowered the book and looked up, blinking. What was I even going to make, was the first thought in her head, followed quickly by, oh god, how fast am I going to blow this place up? She'd either eaten junk food or takeout her entire college life (and most of her childhood life, seeing as she'd spent so much time either holed up reading, making love in the backseat of cars, or playing baseball), making her knowledge of cooking dismal. Grasping at mental straws, Madeline barely noticed Ofelia until she was walking right past her.
Stopping immediately, the girl's head snapped to the side, blinking out of a food-related reverie. "Oh." She pondered the words to express hello. "Are you starving too?" She asked instead. Her conversational skills, as usual, were somewhat short of understandable, and closer in range to flat out crazy. She smiled toothily at the fellow sun hunter, ignoring the inner monologue.
"I hope you can cook better than me - I tend to burn, butcher, or otherwise eviscerate every single thing I touch in and off the battlefield."

Ofelia was gathering out supplies, a process that was slower than she'd like thanks to how her body ached with all its stitches and everything else, but she took the time to turn when she heard someone approaching. Originally she was worried that it might be one of the life techs out to get her but when it was someone she'd....not really seen before she eased up. Ofelia had come to know the faces of the techs just as much as they'd come to know her and it was a sad, sad thing.
"Cookin' is mah forte so yer in luck, an'...not really hungry?" Ofelia said as her stomach whined. "Okay, so yeah hungry but not really starvin'. Hard ta work up a proper appetite when they're pumpin' ya full'a meds all the time, yanno?" There were bruises on the insides of her arms from where Ofelia had yanked out the IV without take care to make sure nothing happened. The tech in charge of her was likely to s**t kittens when she returned. That would be an amazing sight if it didn't involve Ofelia getting into so much trouble it wasn't even funny. "Anythin' in specific yer hungry fer? If yer interested Ah don't mind cookin' ya sommin' unless ya wanna do it on yer own? The only way ta get better is ta keep tryin'."
Those words were a lesson Ofelia had learned many times over as a child and now she was sharing them with someone else. Someone who...she really did think looked familiar. Probably not though, Ofelia was somewhat decent with faces, and she tried to peek at the jacket the girl wore for more information but ended up looking like she was trying to stare at her a**.
