Enough time had passed, or maybe Ofelia just thought it did because everything seemed to blend together in terms of days while at Deus, and while the red-headed teen was normally content to just forget and move along there was something always weighing itself at the back of her mind. It wasn't like her in the slightest to dwell on something since dwelling lead to regret which in turn lead to not wanting to do things. Seeing as boredom happened to be a major enemy of hers Ofelia decided to spit out this horrible feeling before it had a chance to develop into a crippling fear and she set out to locate the person she knew to be one of the sources of the issue.

Her steps, careful and slow thanks to her body still being in recovery, lead her to a dorm room where she was pretty sure a certain blonde, nine-fingered hunter intermediate trainee was still residing. Last she'd heard on the grapevine he hadn't moved, or at least she hadn't seem him sulking about anywhere else, so trying to find his nameplate on the list of dorm room registry was a good a start as any. It took her much longer to get there than she would have liked, her wounds and getting lost acting like a wondrous combo of column a and b, but eventually she settled at the door and looked around. It felt creepy to be here, like she was paying some kind of house call as Red Riding Hood (minus the hood and with red hair). At least the basket she had full of treats might make this all the easier.

"Deryk? Ya home?" Her voice was a choking gasp as she asked, softly rapping against the door with her knuckles. No need to pound on the first try, she'd totally go at it the second or third round.

Deryk had just been sitting on his bed, giving Tooley a bit of maintenance when he heard a knock at his door. Looking up, he could hear Ofelia's voice on the other side.

"Yeah I'm here. Door's unlocked. Come on in, yes," he replied while he was carefully making sure that there wasn't any gunk in the intricate mechanisms that allowed for the hidden blade to pop out like it did. Ever since he almost lost his weapon, he had been giving her a little extra care and attention. Not that he didn't take good care of her before, or that she even really recalled what had happened, but he felt the need to do this anyway. In a way, he supposed he sort of took her for granted to always be there, even if she didn't say much. There was that constant feeling that he wasn't alone.

"Something up, Ofelia?"

Pleased as a peach to find that she'd been correct in thinking Deryk would be in his room (rather then out somewhere else), the teen carefully turned the knob and opened the door in, peeking her head around the corner to spot the person she was looking for. Thankfully he was dressed (apparently she was the only one who enjoyed being topless or pantless in her own room) and he seemed to be working on his weapon.

It sort of made Ofelia wonder where she'd shoved Rue's tablet, seeing as . . .well, that was beside the point. She wasn't here about herself, she was here for Deryk and talking about stuff that happened to the two of them. "Hope ya dun mind me stoppin' by - Ah brought ya some brownies Ah baked as a gift since Ah think ya said ya liked 'em?" The basket actually entered the room before she did, like she was holding it forward as a peace offering, but as soon as it was in she quickly followed. Standing in the hallway had felt so awkward and therefore she didn't even think twice about entering into a guy's room.

She glanced around, not really sure if she wanted to stand or sit (because she planned on staying for a while, even if they just sat in silence) and the sun hunter decided to lay it out straight. "Ah came ta talk wit'cha 'bout the DETH thin' an' that crazy hunter."

Ofelia was always so blunt.

Once Ofelia came on in, Deryk looked up and smiled faintly at her, setting Tooley and the rag he was using onto the bed for the time being. He seemed to perk up at the mention of brownies. He did enjoy her baking quite a bit after all.

"Yeah. They're pretty tasty. You do good with them, yes," he nodded. The hunter trainee scooted over a bit, in case she wanted to have a seat, though he paused as she mentioned DETH. It had been a little while since that had happened. It was pretty crazy too. The ones who had brought them in pointed fingers at Halloween but... he knew the truth behind the matter.

"Ah.. Yeah. That was kinda crazy. Wasn't it?" he murmured; his mood dropped a bit at the thought of it. Though, now he could kind of sympathize with Mike regarding losing his weapon. That had been a rough time for himself. It worried him that the higher ups might force that upon one of them.

Then again...

Cael had technically done that to Ryan, didn't he?

As Deryk moved Ofelia took the hint and sat herself next to him, moving the basket between the pair and pulling off the top layer. The brownies were fresh, still slightly steaming from the oven, so it was very clear she'd either come prepared for him to be silent and needing to be bribed to talk or she just came prepared for a long conversation. Either way she was ready, as a Sun Hunter well needed to be. She pulled one out and plopped a bit of it into her mouth as Deryk spoke, listening, and her cheeks flushed a bit happy at the compliment over her cooking. Most people just ate it, which was compliment enough, but few said anything about it.

Just eating wasn't always enough, seriously, she had an ego she needed tending to once in a while.

And then Deryk seemed to want to talk about it after all (Ofelia was glad she brought brownies) and she nodded her head as best she could. The bandages on her neck still limited a lot of her motion, she was peeved at the not-Rue-Rue for it, but at least she could do some basic things. Like nod. "Ah dunno if crazy's the word Ah'd use fer it. That guy...was he even human anymore?"

That was what sort of plagued her there. If they all lost their weapons did they go into some sort of withdrawl? Was the point of having a weapon to develop such a strong bond you'd rather die than be without it? Ofelia seemed to be doing fine without Rue though she'd bitterly admit the silence of Deus was starting to bother her sleep at night. "Do ya think he's in any kinds'a records 'round here? Ah'm really curious, s'not like Deus would ever let a hunter go rogue. Ah've always heard we get killed or podded."

Deryk's hands were a bit dirty from the oils he was using to clean Tooley, so he didn't go for one of the brownies just yet. That would come soon enough though. At Ofelia's question, he glanced down, frowning.

"Depends on what you mean by human I guess. His body? Yeah. Human. But..." he trailed off there. His goals and motivations were psychotic. Monstrous. From what he was saying to the students, he got off on ending the lives of people. Something that seemed like it disgusted the kids. It was kind of ironic. They were more human than Mike in that regard.

Sometimes... he also had to wonder about a few of his current coworkers on that aspect as well... The ones who was alright with the idea of torture and the like. The most recent incident involving Halloween; Deryk blamed that more on the seemingly volatile nature of insanity than the students themselves. There were a few things about it all that he didn't entirely understand either. Apparently that insanity entity was... a teacher of theirs? It was something he was going to need to try and learn more about later...

"As for records.. maybe. He knew Clarice. She might know something. If not... Death Databases probably have something about him. Yes. Not sure what could have happened... but. Mebbe Mark or someone would have access to that info... Yes."

"Mark, hmmm?" Ofelia finished chewing the brownie in her mouth and mulled over the thought. "He only works fer money, yeah? Ah got 'nough saved Ah think Ah could ask, if yer curious as much as Ah am. There's gotta be a reason he got out an' went on ta do what he did." There was a small part in the back of Ofelia's brain that refused to accept that people could just do cruel things without even thinking about it. She knew firsthand, first blood, at what people were capable of when they didn't care for others but that blind denial and faith she had in all things was what kept her going.

Like being able to be near Rep, for example, was one of those wonderful cases. Also not screaming and having a horrible breakdown like Cass or anyone else.

Yet.

So, they'd get back to that. "On the event though, how are ya holdin' up? Wasn' really like we thought it would be, huh? Not that Ah had any idea'a what we were gonna do." It was hard to think that anyone could be properly prepared for any Deus mission, least of all one that came from Caelius and sent them lord knows where via portal.

"I got some money too. Might be able to pool together on that. Could try asking Clarice later too... but.."

Well. Deryk wasn't sure if Clarice really liked him all that much, seeing how she kept calling him "Death spy". But.. finding out more about this guy could be useful. What caused the weapon to be taken away? And were there signs of him acting like this before? Could something like this happen again? The whole rogue hunter dealie.

"No. Had no idea. Thought it was just gonna be an investigation. Definitely didn't turn out that way. Was saved by a student and almost killed by former hunter. Not every day somethin' like that happens. No," he murmured with a sigh. All the more reason for him to not want to antagonize those kids. He didn't even have to fight any of them in that last mess of a mission they were on. Plus, he knew there were a few who didn't want to kill him because of who he was and were willing to work together if need be.

"Hmm yeah, that reminds me. didja happen ta see any'a 'em, the group'a people Ah mean, when we were in the haunted house...thingy? Was it a haunted house, Ah dunno. Ah. . .sorta am tryin' not ta remember bits an' pieces'a it."

She didn't want to remember cutting into Bix, flaying his body. Even if there were rumours of him being alive now, that his death had been a temp thing (which sounded weird to say, even in thought) she didn't want to think on it because sooner or later she'd have to confront him. It wouldn't really be much of a confrontation though since Ofelia would have to admit to attacking him with the intent to kill and the joy of doing it.

Even now it was making her sick to her stomach, so she pressed past that and kept the focus on the kids that they'd run into. "Ah wanna know what happened ta 'em. That one girl - the spider wit' pink hair - she saved me." Ofelia touched her shoulders and lower arms, feeling the weight of that Halloween teen's body on her own. She'd protected her against the flames, against everything, and had saved her life. Sure everyone had come back from the mission safe and sound on the Deus side but what about Halloween? "Is it....is it kinda wrong'a me ta be worried 'bout 'em?"

They were all supposed to be enemies, right? Why did Ofelia feel like Deryk was the one person she could properly ask without fearing a report?

sorry about that, did some laundry >___>

Deryk furrowed his brow at that, trying to recall. So much had happened that it was almost all a blur. But, he did remember one other thing. That was still just as important in a way.

"I... don't remember seeing them specifically at the house but.. did see Lizzy 'n Junko during Fright night. Were fine. Didn't catch sight of the cowboy, no," he replied. It might have been safe to assume that he was fine as well. Letting out a breath, he touched Tooley and let her return to her unsummoned state for the time being.

As for Ofelia's other question, he paused and glanced up at her.

"Wouldn't say so... But.. not all agree probably. Worried too. Yes.." he started while trailing off. At least he wasn't the only one on that front. These were kids who proved to really not be all that bad. And if that DETH thing was really what they said it was, then there was definitely hope that they could coexist.

On the other hand.. there were those like the horsemen... which brought a new frown to his face.

Ofelia watched the frown, watched Deryk, and instead of responding right away shoved another brownie into her mouth. It was easier not to talk when she didn't have anything to think of, at least not right away, and the brownies would go to waste and cool if she didn't eat them. Deryk hadn't made a move for them, she knew he liked them so it wasn't a worry, and since he hadn't shoo'd her off she was going to eat her fill because why did she want to eat when nervous.

"Ah'm glad ta know ya saw 'em, kinda wish Ah'd seen 'em too. Ah...wanna find a way ta get ta her an' thank her but after the house. . . Ah wonder if they'd even wanna look at one'a us fer a while." Three of their own, the Halloween's own that is, had been turned into weapons even if it had only been a temporary thing. Of course in the process Bix and Ceres had become beasts that haunted the tail end of her nightmares but she doubted the creatures of Amity gave a s**t about that. "Part'a me doesn' even wanna look at some'a us 'cause'a what Ah did."

She didn't want to touch on that, she wasn't going to touch on that. Ofelia knew Deryk probably had seen her go after Bix, just as she'd seen him step in to protect Ceres. She would have attack Ceres too if she hadn't been trying to stop Before from hurting that one guy who'd held Bix's crumbling body. There was no point in lying over that or blaming the insanity that seeped through her veins. Still though she could think of good things, maybe talk more on DETH?

"When Ah was travelin' in the house Ah met a girl who was part'a the DETH program too, or at least knew 'bout it. Do ya think it might kinda be widespread more than we know of, like PETA fer humans as Marcus mentioned?" She asked. While that thought could be considered comforting she wondered just how. . . fanatic some people could be. Also, hadn't a human managed to sneak in the ranks and. . . ?

"Mebbe not... Dunno. Lizzy is kinda wary of us, understandably, but she trusts me I think. Might have to try and see if I can talk to her. Maybe get some more information in the process," Deryk murmured. Though, he paused and looked up towards Ofelia, not sure what she was talking about next. Why wouldn't she want to look at some of their own? Though, with everything that had been going on, something could have happened between her and some of them that he wasn't aware of. Yes, he had seen her attack Bix, but even he had struck the guy once before he decided that they needed to be protected instead of slain.

The mention of meeting another student potentially affiliated with DETH though, caught his attention.

"Maybe... though didn't learn 'bout it till recently. Might not be something a lot of the students are apart of. But.. some better than none. Maybe it's still a new organization. Might explain a few things. Hard to say. Might be something worth looking into too."

"The sad thing is, if one'a us did sommin' like that, a PETA sorta thing but fer the Halloweeners, it wouldn' end well Ah think. Ah wonder if them kids are treated like pariahs." Ignoring the fact that Ofelia could use the word pariah properly in a sentence she felt like she had a point. If she went around telling others that they needed to get along with the Halloween folk she'd be treated even worse, or at the worst case placed back into her pod for being unwilling to follow orders.

For the most part Ofelia just...felt like she was following orders. No hard feelings towards anyone, no desire to murder anymore. Just, good business and a loyalty to a place that gave her a home.

Except in regards to the horsemen.

"Ah'll say though Ah really, really hate the ponypeople. Bastards are jus'....ugh." She thought back to everything, on how they treated all of them. Trance, illusions, just general whatever, and then the capture and torture. Plus they seemed to be so arrogant it rubbed her entirely the wrong way. "As fer the girl Ah met up wit' - she's a witch? Her an' her zombie boyfriend helped me an' Clover . . .er, Before, out."

Blade Kuroda

Deryk frowned at the thought of the kids being like pariahs. They didn't deserve that. But he agreed with her on the other point. His views were not widely accepted here on the island, which was why he kept them to himself. He would rather not end up getting killed or worse because of them.

"Can't say I hate them but.. they are definitely a problem, yes. As they are, they're a danger to humanity. Not like the kids. Getting along with horsemen not an option. Have to fight them for sure," he agreed. The horsemen were all about the destruction of their world. Most of the troubles they've had were because of them really. It seemed, more often than not, that the students were either caught in the cross fire or simply used as stepping stones.

"Ah. That's good to hear. In the fog, the lizard kid, Bul, was still with us for awhile. Ended up getting separated though. Dun think he liked the horsemen much either given the way he fled when we ran into their camp..."

Ofelia was well on her way into another brownie, chewing and listening. She'd made just enough for her and Deryk, there wasn't a need for him to share with everyone, so there was no real worry there about her eating all of them and him getting none.

Though if he did want one he'd need to hurry up, and while she chewed she took her phone out and sent a quick text. There was no need to delay on it, the sooner she got things out and texted the better or else she'd end up forgetting. The whole point of this conversation bordered on what happened next, so she was glad that for the last while she'd been saving her pay.

Zoobey
Text to Mark, from Ofeliatheres money with your name on it if youre willing to work for it. triple digit

The text was sent and she swallowed the brownie, looking towards Deryk again. "Kinda wish Ah could say Ah didn' hate anythin' but it's...gettin' kinda hard fer me. Well, not really hard to hate or not hate, jus' the lines are startin' ta get blurry where they shouldn' be. Ah'm more scared'a most'a the people on this island rather than what we gotta fight sometimes."

Was this a serious confession system to Deryk? Maybe. Part of Ofelia wondered if he could be open and honest with her as well, or would he just say something along the lines of what she was in order to make her feel better? He didn't seem the type. . .
