 She had felt the itch begin while she had watched her brother face the challenge so he could remain with the pride instead of leaving once again. Now it had gone from a minor irritation to a nearly constant itch that left her stopping every couple paces that she took to scratch. She noticed a lot of the others seemed to be having the same issues and wondered how they had all managed to get the biting, little bugs that were causing the incessant itching. She sighed as she stopped once again to scratch behind one of her ears.

 Hari nibbled briefly at an itch on her shoulder, then paused; spotting the annoying little hairball, she picked up the flea and cracked it between her teeth. Immediately after, she felt the itch that was growing all too familiar as another flea bit at the base of her tail. Grumbling, she chose to ignore that one, getting frustrated with the infestation. She didn't know where the fleas had come from, only that they were here now and most of the pride had to deal with it. As many as she crushed with her teeth, there were too many crawling through her pelt for her to get them all while the pride was migrating; even if she managed to get all the original fleas, more would surely find their way onto her from the others.
She stopped to scratch at one such annoyance behind her ear, and as she tilted her head she caught sight of Nyesui, also scratching frantically. Hari stood and padded over to her with a smile, laying her tail tip on Nyesui's back to let her know she was there.
"They're a real pain in the tail, aren't they?", she joked. "I never did tell you how happy I was for you that Nguvu is with us now. You and Hadharani must be so pleased."

Nyesui went from scratching her should to gnawing on her paw. She briefly spotted one of the aggravating insects crawling through the fur of her paw. She picked it up with her teeth and crunched it. Before she could pick a new spot to try to focus on, she felt the tip of someone's tail against her back. She looked up, curious as to who it was, and spotted Hari standing near her.
"Very much so," she replied trying to smile through the irritation of the itching. "We are. Thank you and thank you for stick up for him. I know a lot of them would have preferred for him to leave instead."

Hari laid her ears back uncomfortably. She was well aware that many of the other lions and lionesses in the pride had thought it better that Nguvu leave - even now, with Nguvu being an Umholi, there were still those who muttered negative comments when his back was turned. Hari felt uncomfortable discussing the mild disquiet among the pride surrounding her friends' brother, and so she changed the subject instead.
"So I see you have fleas, too; it seems most of the pride was infested. I can't wait until the little buggers die off." As she spoke, she lifted one hind paw to scratch behind her ear. No matter how many of the things she got rid of, she still didn't get a break from being itchy.LexThetaSigma Sorry that took so long; I didn't know you'd responded. haha

Nyesui scratched lightly at her shoulder as the itching flared up again and tried to ignore Hari's folded back ears when her brother had been brought up. Thankfully she had changed to a slightly easier topic of discussion. "Yes," she replied as she switched to scratch the other shoulder, "I think most of us got them, though I'm not sure from where. It..will..be..amazing when they die off," she stated as she struggled to reach one particular spot on her shoulder blade.

Hari shot a sidelong glance at Kamal; everyone in the pride knew that the lion was a suspected source of the fleas - possibly even more suspect than the baboons. With a chuckle, Hari shrugged. It didn't really matter why they had fleas, the point was that they did, and knowing where the fleas had come from wouldn't make them leave.
Hari shook her head, forcing out the curiosity of whether or not fleas felt sentiment. What a weird train of thought! She focused her attention back on Nyesui with a smile. "So how is Nguvu? And Hadharani? I'm so glad you guys have the chance to spend quality time together."

Nyesui nodded in agreement, "It probably was the baboons," she replied as she tried to ignore another slowly building itch. She looked over to see where Hari was looking as her sentence trailed off. She thought Kamal had been the cause of their flea infestation? Though, she thought, as she gave into the urge to scratch again, it didn't really matter. All that mattered was waiting for the infernal things to die off. When Hair asked how her siblings were doing, Nye smiled. "They are good, well, as good as they can be with this going on. He seems to be adjusting well to being back." she gave the other lioness a grateful nod, "Thank you."

Hari chuckled at Nyesui's joke. Of course; how could anyone feel anything other than annoyed when they were covered in tiny, biting pests? Speaking of which, she reached one forepaw up to her face and speared one such pest on an extended claw. Wiping it off in the dirt, she sighed. Hopefully this torment ended soon.
"I've had about enough of this. I'm going to look for a watering hole or something to bathe in - care to join? I believe there was a small one not far from here that the pride doesn't drink from."

Nyesui would have done just about anything to have even a small reprieve from the infernal itching that the fleas brought so when Hari mentioned going to a near by waterhole, the other lioness jumped at the chance. "Yes, please! Though are you sure there's one that isn't being used for drinking?" Hopefully Hari was right so they could get in and enjoy the relief the water would bring.

"I've never seen anyone there. Well, except for the odd rogue hyena, and honestly who cares about them? I've been there a few times now, and no one from the pride has ever been there."
The water in question was far enough away from the pride that Hari was sure they would travel that far just for a drink, especially when there were closer ones; however, it was close enough to not be a pain to get to. Rising to her paws, Hari started in the direction of the watering hole. Glancing back over her shoulder to ensure that Nyesui was following, she broke into a loping stride and relished the feeling of her powerful muscles at work.
Her pelt may be crawling with irritating insects, but underneath her muscles were still lean and strong, and that was a comforting thought.

Nyesui breathed a sigh of relief when Hari explained that no one had been seen at the watering hole. It would be nice to be able to soak and let the little miscreants that were the cause of the infernal itching to drown. "That sounds great," just the idea of being free from the irritation was enough to get the black lioness up on her paws and following quickly after the other female.

The two lionesses bounded on for several moments before reaching the watering hole. Hari, still in the lead, slowed her pace gradually to a walk when the shimmering surface came into view. She was panting, but only slightly, more from being hot than from beginning to tire. Looking up, she squinted at the sun; it had moved only a whisker's width from its position before they had set out, and it was still beating down warmly enough that the pool would provide relief from more than just the fleas.
Glancing at Nyesui, she jerked her head to indicate the water and sprang forward. A tail-length from the water's edge, she stopped and leaped into the air with an exultant cry. The strength of her muscles as she pushed off from the ground felt just amazing - almost as amazing as the first shock of crashing into the cool, clear water. Striking out with all four paws, she swam swiftly to the surface and gulped in air. Treading the water, she relished the freedom from the biting pests.
"Come on in!", she called to Nyesui. "Nothing has ever felt so great!"

Nyesui followed after her friend while keeping an eye out so she would remember how to get to it again. Maybe even bring her brother and sister along so they could get a bit of relief. When they reached the pool, she walked over and took a drink first to quench the thirst that had developed on the walk over before hearing the loud splash from Hari jumping into the water. When she called for the black lioness to join, Nyesui took a few steps back before making her own jump into the pool. Between the cool water and the sudden relief from the itching, Nyesui breathed a sigh of relief.

Hari turned her head and shut her eyes tight against the splash, chuckling even as the waves jostled against her. She struck out toward the shore, stopping as soon as she felt firm ground beneath her paws. Turning back to face the rippled area where Nyesui had jumped in, she waited for her friend to surface as the water lapped at her legs. Without the constant irritation of biting fleas it was easy to pretend that they were here purely for fun. So easy, in fact...
As soon as Hari spotted Nyesui's head bobbing to the surface, she lashed out with her forepaw as though swatting a ball of moss and sent a wave of water cascading over her friend. The two dove and splashed about, purring with mirth, until Hari noticed that the sun was starting to sink.
Turning to Nyesui, she gestured with her tail and remarked, "It's starting to get late; we better get back." Turning, she started to pad home with Nyesui at her side.LexThetaSigma I just turned this into a finish post. If you want to do your own wrap-up, feel free. c:
