Welcome to the fourth Race!
Althea will be hosting, so listen up! The Owsla-marli doesn't care to repeat herself. Best of luck, and Frith-speed!

For the hrairth time she raised her head to search the skies. This was NOT what she had in mind when she'd been told to find the warren new runners... but the courses hadn't been picked by her.

She'd led the crowd down the hill and now they were facing towards the river. Crow had not been pleased, at all, in his part for this. The black buck was huddled by the river's edge, hidden amongst the reeds for protection. Though he was heavier than most rabbits, he really didn't want to test how much weight a hawk could carry.

And Althea wasn't exactly pleased about being asked to put her offspring in danger either. Displeasure obvious in the way she held her body, the owsla sat up as she addressed her charges.

"Today, Frith guide you, you're going to be clearly in harm's way."

She looked out over the tall grass to the large tree that stood close to the river proper. Shuddering, she continued.

"Your job is to get through this patch of tall grass all the way to the river and back, without waking the Bird."

The way she said the word showed respect and dislike suggested at what was living in that tree.

"I might not be able to get to you in time, if you do."

She warned, looking at them sternly.

"Be careful, be safe, and Frith guide you. At your ready..."

-----------------------------------------------------------------

How to Play

- You will be racing through tall grass, not far from the tree of a sleeping hawk.
- The hawk's attention will be drawn by rustling grass (roll a 2 or lower), if you wake him (the grass rustles twice), and he can tell where you are... (roll a 1 after he's awake...)
- THERE ARE TWO WAYS TO ROLL
----- you may use either a d12 for each post, or you may choose to use 2 d4's. A d12 will obviously get you there faster, but is much more dangerous. You will not be spotted by the hawk with 2 d4's, no matter how many times you rustle the grass.
- You will post and roll 10 times.
- Please write at least one line of RP in each post
- You may edit your post to include the rp, but if you delete your post you will be disqualified

More Info

- There will be 5 races held
- Your rabbit must place in the top three for three two races (don't have to be consecutive) to be re-colored on the runner lines
- There will be hazards in some of the races, and there is a chance your rabbit could die

Rules

- DO NOT DELETE YOUR POSTS (and yes, I can see if you do that)
- You must use the rabbit you want to become a runner as the rabbit in these races
- In the event of a tie in scores, the person that finished rolling first will be ranked higher.
- If you mess up, forget to roll, etc etc. QUOTE THE MESSED UP POST and post again with your roll

WHAT YOU CAN WIN! (everyone's favorite part)

- Place in the top 3 in three races and your rabbit will become a Runner! -
- Every time you place in the top 3, you'll earn a piece of Flay-rah! (unless you win three times, and wish to turn your rabbit into a Runner. If that rabbit continues to enter races and wins you'll earn flay-rah for additional races) -
- Participate in all five races and you earn a piece of Flay-rah! -

WARNING! - YOUR RABBIT CAN DIE.
If you roll a 2 or lower twice, the hawk will wake up! If at any point you roll a 1 after that the hawk will attack! Quote me and Althea will make an attempt to aid you if she can get to you in time...

Recap on How to Play

You will post and roll ten times
you may choose to either roll a d12 or two d4's
Once you pick which dice you'll use, you cannot switch.

If you roll a 2 or a 1, you will rustle the grass.
Rustle the grass twice and the hawk will wake up!

Roll a 1 after the hawk awakes and he'll attack your rabbit!

THIS IS PER PERSON. EACH INDIVIDUAL RABBIT WILL HAVE THE THREE STRIKES YOU'RE OUT SORT OF THING.

If the hawk attacks, QUOTE ME and Althea will attempt to save your rabbit.
--------------------------

By choosing the two d4's your rabbit will be moving too slowly and stealthily to be seen by the hawk, even if the rabbit wakes the hawk up.

By choosing d12's you're risking that the hawk might attack, and might kill your rabbit. But! You have a greater potential of running faster!

Falcon looked up at the tree and already felt his heart pounding. He really wanted to be a runner but he also didn't want to get eaten. He did see this as a challenge though to show he can move fast without waking up a hawk thats nearby. So he was always up for a challenge to prove himself. So he crouched in the ready position to go all out in this race. He was going to be the first across the finish line and show that he could make it there and back without putting himself in danger.

Falcon was feeling really good from that start. Maybe this wouldn't be as hard as he thought. He was watching the grass tuffs so he wouldn't trip over one and rustle the grass too loud. Pushing his legs hard though didn't feel bad, the rest and good food from last night must have really helped. He just needed to concentrate on not tripping and rustling the grass while making sure he was running at top speed.

He was feeling really good, speed was picking up, he wasn't really touching the grass. He needed to keep this up. He was getting close to the tree, he could see the river in front of him. He was almost halfway there and doing good. He kept his eyes on the tufts of grass keeping his paws away from there to keep from tripping and rustling the grass. Just had to keep pushing his legs hard and keep from tripping.

He had slowed down a bit, he almost hit a mound of grass which would have made some noise. Thankfully he saw it just in time and was able to dodge it. He had to be a bit more careful about these mounds of dirt and tufts of grass. He kept his eyes on what was in front of him and the path he needed to take. Didn't want that to happen again. He kept pushing his legs hard, trying to get to the river which was so close to him now. He wasn't going to worry if the hawk saw him yet or woke up, the only thing he could do is keep from making noise and keep moving fast. The faster he moved the closer he would get back to safety.

Falcon started to feel his speed slowing, maybe he was more scared than he was willing to admit. He had to keep pushing though, overcome his fear and do what needed to be done even though he was afraid. He was at the river now, he saw Crow and just needed to reach him and turn around. Then he would be on the home stretch and every little bit meant he was closer to safety. He just needed to keep concentrating on his paws placement and moving as fast as he could.

Falcon relaxed just a little too much seeing Crow there, he had been careful this entire way but he definitely his that grass and made it rustle. He turned around at Crow and looked up at the tree praying he didn't see the bird before taking off into the grass again. He was now on his way back to the warren, he just had to keep his mind on not making noise instead of how close to safety he was. watching the grass tufts pass and the small mounds of dirt, he was watching where his paws were moving so he wouldn't hit another one. He kept pushing his legs hard for as much speed as he could get.

Falcon must have been more scared of being heard than he would be willing to admit. He was moving through the grass very quickly and actually very quietly. Just keeping his concentration on those mounds of dirt and placement of the grass tufts as he ran through at full speed. He wanted to keep this speed up but also keep from making a mistake. If he kept this up, he would definitely show that he was born to be a runner. He would get across that finish line first and with every step was one step further from the tree.

He was moving through, he could feel his legs were starting to get a bit tired but he was almost done. He kept his eyes on the ground and grass so he had a planned path to follow without touching or rustling the grass. This was working well for him and he just needed to keep this plan up. So he pushed through the warriness of his legs and put some more distance between him and the hawk.

Falcon was feeling really good, he loved running and he was almost to the finish line. He was watching the tufts of grass as they passed and moved towards that finish line with all the speed he had left. He was still concentrating on the mounds of dirt so he wouldn't trip and the tufts of grass so he wouldn't unknowing hit one. If he kept up his speed with his well placed steps, he would definitely be number one in this race. There was no way he was going to draw the ire of that hawk.

Falcon could now see Althea and was right near the finish line. He wasn't so worried about waking the hawk now, there had been enough time between when he had rustled the grass and now that he was almost positive he was safe. So he pushed his legs as hard as he could while watching for anything he could trip on. He wanted to cross that finish line moving at top speed. This was his time to show he was meant to be a runner.

Oxlip hesitated for a few moments. This race wasn't just fun and games. Stinking elil. He knew his white pelt pretty much made him a wandering "eat me" sign. He better just run for it and hope he was faster and smarter than that bird. Hiding wasn't his thing.

The field seemed so large, but he decided to zig zag a little. The bird was supposedly sleeping, but it felt better not to stay in the same spot for too long.
