Ah, Destiny City Doll Expo. Every year it brought joy and promised the vacuums of wallets to collectors and little kids alike. Dolls big and small made their way to exhibits and the dealers room: plush, ball-jointed, Japanese figures, action figures, the list went on. There was no shortage of fans dressed up as Barbies, Fluppy Dogs, teddy bears and He-Man. This was the doll fans' paradise. And it was too bad that it only happened for once a year. Esme Blanchard LOVED this time of year. She'd never missed an Expo! EVER. Even if she was sick, she always made it. Money was no object either. Those days mowing the lawn or babysitting really paid off. Birthday money also turned into doll money. Sweet, sweet doll money. Awwww yeah. One table had these absolute gorgeous ball-jointed dolls. Esme just had gotten into them a year ago, and now it was time to collect collect COLLECT. Her eyes trailed all along the table of a particular dealer, looking for the perfect one. She could almost SMELL it. Her hand reached over to touch a particular beauty... Would this be the one...? Could it be?!?!?!

Candice took a deep breath as she looked at her table. All the other years at the Destiny City Doll Expo led her only to be a buyer and a spectator, but this year she had decided different. When she first started studying biology at HITS University, Candice was stressed and really didn't know how to relieve it. It took a few months for her to realize that her dolls and creating clothing for them, helped her relax. A lot.
People would walk by her booth and look over the little outfits she was selling. Candice had made a fair amount by the time the expo opened. Of course, she was quite proud and loved them all, but a college student needed money and this was definitely her way to make some.
Already, she had made some sales. Candice didn't take all the credit though. She had made lovely clothes for her three dolls Millie, Stephan, and Nadezhda. They were on display close to her and what they wore definitely caught peoples' attention. Millie was in a delicate kimono with what appeared to be 5 'layers' of cloth. Stephan wore a steam-punk inspired tuxedo. Nadezhda was dressed in a han-fu that looked like it would fit an empress. They were Candice's pride and definitely not for sale.
Candice saw a pink haired girl eventually approach her booth. Smiling, Candice greeted her. "How may I help you, Miss? All of these are handmade. Most of the cloth is scraps I've found or had and was made into these beauties!"

Esme's eyes snapped up to meet the blue-eyed blonde's and her mouth opened a bit in total awe. "Omigosh, you MADE these?" The three dolls on display had definitely caught her eye, not to mention all of the outfits that she had on the table. "These are really good!" Her fingers brushed along the velvet of one of the outfits. "Like, really REALLY good. Amazing even." Esme just couldn't stop gushing over them. She'd go on forever if she had to. "Oh! Ah. I've never seen you as a seller here before. Have I missed your table this whole time?! I mean, I just got into ball-jointed dolls a few years ago, but I go through the whole hall.. I'd think that I'd noticed your booth before cuz this is so amazing." Yep, couldn't stop gushing. "My name's Esme!" Or random introductions to random people and White Mooners trying to kill her. She offered a hand as she smiled broadly. "I wanna buy all your stuff. All the things. Well, I would if I had enough money for it, buuuut you knoooow.."

Candice blushed and smiled with the girl's words. "Yup and I'm glad you like them!" She looked at each of them on the table thinking and remember. It was interesting that she could somewhat recall when she had put the pieces together. "I don't really want to sell all of these, but a college student is always short on money!"
"This is actually my first year with a booth," she continued. "Other years I would just spend my time browsing booths, but I thought my time could be better spent trying to make more money than spend more money." Candice let out a laugh with the last bit, since it was true. The fabric needed for the outfits were not too expensive since she bought them as scraps, but she did spend a lot of money on other things, like skincare products...
"It's nice to meet you Esme," Candice held out her hand for a handshake. "I'm Candice, and these are my dolls: Millie, Stephan, and Nadezhda. To buy what they're wearing you'd have to more than bribe me, but I do have stuff that's under 10 dollars." She went and picked up a piece that looked like a Senshi outfit. "Like this one. Inspired by those supposed crime fighters that love to wander around at night."
Of course, Candice didn't mention she was one of them.

"Uh..." Oh, wow. WOW. The slack-jawed look on Esme's face betrayed any notion of hiding her surprise at the look of that senshi outfit. "Crime fighters.. The ones that love to wander around at night.. right." Her hand went up to feel the fabric of that little fuku after she shook Candice's hand. Esme blinked heavily and drew her hand away. "Ahahaha, have you actually gotten to see one? Like, are they a myth or are they really real?" As far as she knew, all of the senshi and knights and Negaverse agents kept hidden away from the general public. Had they actually popped out of the woodwork? On purpose or by accident? "Er, what is, how much are you selling that one for? It's totes adorable." Esme looked away, blushed. Couldn't... reveal... anything... argh...!

"Seeing one... More like being one..." Candice of course, didn't mention that. Even before that however, Candice had experienced the Surrounding. It was more than a year ago now, but the memories were still in her mind. "Not really now, but a while ago," she told Esme with a smile. "It was kind of a bittersweet memory, but yeah..."
Candice held up the outfit again and looked at it. "I guess you can call this a memory of the past." "And more of a symbol for the hope of a brighter future for myself."
She laughed. "This one, only 8. The pieces I used for this had been used for this one and a few others, so you're mostly paying for labor." Candice winked. "I'm not here to charge an arm and a leg for these things!"

That was.. another interesting development. So the magical had made itself known to the common people. Whether accidental or on purpose, she had to find out. "I want to know more!" she blurted out. "Er, I mean, if you don't mind. I .. really like magic. And this is the first time I've ever about someone confirming their actual existence.." Esme flushed. "The crime fighters I mean. And, I'll take it! The outfit I mean." She might be digging herself into a hole, but this was important! What did this girl know?

Candice was a tad bit surprised; other than those that had experienced what had happened at the Surrounding, no one really believed what she had to say. She felt that it was just that Esme was curious about it, but... Did she want to relive it all again?
Well, it was more that she hated remembering dying and then coming back to life.
She sighed and looked at Esme with a smile. "Well, it happened over a year ago. Myself and 58 to outer space, in which I learned was called the Surrounding later on." Candice paused and closed her eyes, not sure of what else she wanted to tell. "We didn't know how we got there, but what was around us was a battle between good and bad. I didn't know what to think of at the time, the two sides, but meeting some of them made me realize how much they were trying to protect us."
"There we different monsters that appeared, alongside 'powered' people." Candice realized how much she had hated them before becoming one. It was hard to understand the battle until she was a part of it. "Some how... I came back alive and... Remembered it all."
Her mind wandered some more as she went to bag Esme's purchase. Candice folded it in half carefully and held out a hand. "Eight dollars please," she told her with a smile. "It was... An interesting experience, but I don't know if I could live through that again."

Esme listened closely as Candice went into semi-detail about what had happened to her. It was even more surprising that the girl actually spoke of it in the first place, that it wasn't like some closely guarded secret that only she and supposedly fifty-eight another people shared. "A battle between good and bad. Monsters. Powered people," Esme repeated quietly. "..Wow." Blink, blink. This was, uh, something she definitely needed to get in touch with Leto about. As Esme fished into her purse for some cash, she continued, "Interesting? I'd say!" Out came the eight dollars, which she handed over to the girl. There was one thing that was certain. Esme appeared interested and appeared that she believed her. "That's really.. more than interesting, to say the least. What happened to the other fifty-eight? Do you keep in contact with them?"

"I guess interesting is one way of putting it." Candice wasn't sure about others and how they felt about it, but for herself, it took her a long time not to hate both sides. Becoming 'TianGuan' helped her see more of whom she was and how she really felt. "Being up there helped me decide that I wanted to become a doctor. There were a lot of people hurt there... Both sides, I think. I was kind of useless there, but after I get my Doctorate, that won't be anymore!"
Candice handed Esme the bag. "Thank you for your purchase! It means a lot to me, and I wanted you to know that this money will help towards my Doctorate!"
"From what I know, everyone made it back. I haven't see everyone that I met there, but I know a few of my friends made it back." Candice wasn't sure for those that were powered though. She knew that her abilities were enhanced so was pretty sure those people made it home safe as well.Ryndilee ((Oh! And Leto should know about that already xD I think she was there... Leto was one of the DMC pre-meta, but always something to RP about if you/Esme/Aurora wanted to learn more about it :3 ))

ATh e a r t ((Awesome! I'll keep that in mind~)) Esme held the bag to her chest with both hands, beaming, a little kid getting exactly what she wanted for Christmas and her birthday combined. "That's really amazing. That you feel that way and are getting a degree because of that..." This was the stuff that stories were made of. She got two good stories in one today! "Hey, do you sell your stuff online at all? Maybe we should get together sometime and talk more about dolls n' stuff. I don't really have many real life friends who like dolls like I do."

Candice smiled when she saw Esme's reaction. She was so happy that her work would cause that much happiness for one person. The time she spent working and designing them... 8 dollars didn't seem like what some people would charge, but it seemed worth it. Candice got a bit of money as well as happiness from a customer.
"I haven't had the time or money, really, to set up something like that." She paused while looking around for a scrap of paper as well as her pen. Once she found a piece of paper, she wrote her number on the paper and gave it to Esme. "Here's my number if you need anything!"
She then handed the other piece of paper to Esme. "You can give me your number too, if you'd like." Candice smiled. "I'll gladly offer more outfits if you'd like. Some free, some not!" She winked.

ATh e a r t I think we can call this fin after this or your post? Whaddya say? wink "Oh.. oh wow." Esme was just in awe. If there was some way she could be more in awe, she would find a way. Candice was ... giving her her number! And she wanted HER number! Not only would it be important in the history of magical girl-kind, or something, but she had found another friend. This was the ultimate awesome. The pen-ultimate awesome. Okay, maybe not quite that awesome, but in the history of awesome it was pretty darn good. She scribbled her number down and handed it over to her. "This is my cell number. Call me whenever you'd like! Even if it's 2 am in the morning on a school night and you need to talk about whatever. I'll wake up!" She'd need to invest in coffee, but hey.

She laughed at the last bits of what Esme said. "I'm pretty sure I'd be asleep, or at least my dog would be mad at me if she caught me waking up around then." "Well, at least that was half the truth."
Candice smiled and tucked the piece of paper into her pocket. It was one of those times were she actually had time to make friends, so she might as well right? Hopefully she'd have time to contact Esme sometime and not be super busy with school work.
Someone else soon approached Candice's table and she hastily had to finish her conversation. "It was really nice to meet you, Esme! I'll be sure to contact you when I'm not busy between my dog and school! Sorry I have to go and help out another person now."
She waved at Esme and walked over to greet the new potential customer. "I hope this person is as fun to to as Esme," she thought as she showed her wares to the customer.Ryndilee (( Yea! Sure thing :3 Last post for me xD ))
