PERSONALITY . As someone who works with trains, Kali firmly believes in logic and information. He does not like abstract or philosophical concepts, but ideas he can put into equations or theories. Kali feels most comfortable with organization and numbers and machinery. In fact, it’s easy to get him excited over machinery and science and mathematics. He does not like the outdoors and lack of technology/civilization, so he usually lets Morrigan be on his own as long as he doesn’t cause trouble (this usually doesn’t work).
While Morrigan appears to be more extroverted, Kali is introverted. He feels more at ease by himself or in a small group of people he is at least somewhat familiar with. He is quite shy around others, but if approached by one person or two people he can be coaxed into a conversation. Kali is quite afraid of crowds and avoids them to the best of his ability. When required to travel into town he makes it as quick possible and tries to find the not-as-busy areas. His avoidance of others has led to Kali being socially awkward at times and clumsy.
Despite his social ineptness, he does mean well. Kali has a big heart and is often willing to assist others in times of need. It’s partially why he is not as wealthy as he could be—he usually gives it to others. He has little qualm about inconveniencing himself for the sake of helping someone else, especially a friend or family member. Kali can come across as a pushover due to his deep willingness to assist and indeed it is easy to take advantage of him with the write words and a few begging expressions. While he may be logical, his strong desire to be of use to other people often overrides his brain during such times.
HISTORY . Kali's entire childhood was spent in Faleen. Both of his parents were known scholars working at top research facilities while his older brother was well on his way to becoming a well-loved and talented teacher. Kali enjoyed his stay in Faleen. The place has always suited him and his proclivity toward knowledge and science. While his family tended toward the more conceptual side of science, early on he thrived in Faleen through hands-on learning and tinkering with mechanical parts. It eventually led to him (still a child at the time) pursuing a career as a mechanic. Though it may not be as prestigious as the jobs his parents and brother held, Kali still found satisfaction in doing what he did and learning what he learned.
He had always been a quiet, introverted kid that found it difficult to become friends with the other children. It worried his parents greatly, but they found a bit of solace when they noticed how well Kali got along with his brother. However, not even that lasted for long. Once his brother began to mature and enter his teenage years, he naturally grew distant from Kali, which left the young boy alone once more. Again Kali withdrew to his machines. While he had a fondness for small inventions, such as watches, he found that he had a knack for machinery in general. He continued to hone his skills over the years, remaining mostly a recluse even to his family.
Over the years, his family began to naturally fall apart. It began with the death of his mother when she boarded a ship to Kana and for reasons still unclear to Kali, the ship sank. Years later, his brother moved to Kana while his father passed away after falling into a depression caused by his wife's death.
On his own and with too many memories in Faleen, Kali packed his things and traveled. He went from place to place, fixing machinery or doing other odd jobs he could find. Eventually, he settled in Aimes as a general mechanic and fixer for most machinery.
