Mimi cocked her head to the side as she was separated into working with someone. "Painite... It sounds familiar..." She gave the Negaverse General a meek smile and wave. After that, the young DMC gave her elder in rank a bow. "Nice to meet you, Miss Painite. I'm not sure if I had previously introduced myself. I am Sailor Mimistrobell, DMC of Nightshade."
She stood up straight again and held her hand, ready for a handshake. Mimi wasn't quite sure how the General would respond, but she tried her best to be as polite as she could. No point trying to irritate someone that's higher rank and more powerful that herself.
"I hate to tell you, but I'm not the very best fighter." Though Mimi knew it wasn't true at all. "Well no, I haven't fought very much at all. At the battle, it was Remarque and some others that were watching my back." She was ashamed to have said it, but knew that if she didn't let it out, Mimi would never be able to move past it.
Mimi cringed just a bit. "Sorry you have so much to do."

"Nightshade huh? I like that. Sounds pretty sinister. Or maybe like you walked out of a Tim Burton movie, what with the name. But hey! It works for me, either way."
She grinned at the Dark Senshi. A little light teasing never hurt anyone, and if it did it just proved that they needed to toughen up. General Painite was the gal to do that for them, as she was tough and she liked to play rough. "You're not yet," she said, calling her weapon to her hand instead of shaking hands with the senshi. She just left her hanging, though it wasn't to be mean. Just to get to the point. They could play nice after they had some fun. And by fun, Painite imagined some serious sparring. "But I guess it's my job to help you with that. So how about you come at me with your best shot, and we'll work from there."
She stood leisurely, waiting with the invitation open.

Mimi smiled a little and laughed. "Maybe. Though I already know what my attack is and it doesn't seem very sinister. Else... I would need combat training, right?" Her attack helped her at least temporarily, but with just a stun, there was no real damage done. Mimi knew that she had to learn hand-to-hand combat to survive.
It didn't surprise her that Painite didn't shake her hand. Mimi knew it was rude by her own standards, but she shrugged it off. "I'm new in this anyways... Not sure why she'd even think of responding the gesture."
When she was told just to give her best shot, Mimi wasn't exactly sure what to do. She was intimidated by the weapon Painite held, but she wouldn't really hurt her, right?
She took a deep breath and made a charge for Painite's stomach, hoping to at least have them both land on the ground.

Painite like to leave her opponents guessing, and she liked reading their expressions as they wondered over her. Usually, though, she was out striking fear into the hearts of the senshi, if she could get away with it, so being nice for a sparring match was something she had to keep in her head at all times.
No stabbing.
Painite let her land the punch, grunting, though it wasn't the hardest hit. Her status as General probably helped a lot there. Still, it was a good effort. And then she lashed out, bringing her spear up and swinging for Mimi's head while she was distracted by her own attack.
No stabbing, maybe, at least nothing serious. But small injuries? Those could be healed and tended to, and Painite certainly wasn't above bumping newbies around while they learned the ropes.

Mimi was surprised when the punch actually landed, but was more so when Painite made a swing at her head with her spear. The swish from the swiftness of Painite's spear had been so close that it caused Mimi to duck and lose her footing. She tumbled over and landed on her arm.
"Ouch.. Well that didn't end well."Mimi grunted before rolling over onto her back. She sat up and checked on her arm, making sure nothing was wrong. just a bit of pain for landing on it. "I think my hand hurt more from that punch than it hurt you."
She stood up again, brushing off her skirt before looking back at Painite. "Well, how was that?"

"That might be true," the General grinned, holding her spear. She had it the opposite way she usually held it, where its pointed, but not metal, end was high and the actual spear head was toward the floor. She was using it to train, after all, and while the point was still capable of dealing damage it was a little safer than the metal, rune carved end.
"it was kind of pathetic. Let's get to the real fighting. Think of me as a senshi. A really lucky senshi that has a weapon. Or maybe one of those knights. Whatever, I'm a good guy and I want to stop you for whatever it is you're doing. Because that's just what I do."
She walked closer, slowly, her body now poised for a fight.
She was tense and ready, but there was an air of entertainment around her. She liked training others, and she was actually trying to be helpful and not just make them feel useless. She nodded encouragingly.
"On your feet. If you can't fight me head on, you'll have to think on your feet."

"Maybe that's what's wrong with me," Mimi thought as she listened to Painite. She knew she wanted to make Princess Ares proud, but proud didn't seem to be enough anymore. These.. 'good' Senshi wanted to get rid of her princess right?
Mimi raised her arms, in a position ready to punch; her right leg was in front of her left. She quickly closed her eyes and imagined all of those that had attacked her and her friends the last battle. Different people popped into her head. She didn't know their names, but she knew that those people hurt those that were on her side. Besides Princess Ares, she had to worry about about protecting those that fought besides her!
She let out a side-kick as hard as she could. Unsure of where it would land, she tried to watch Painite's reaction and hope she could react with her.

Painite reached out and caught Mimi's leg, though she had managed to land her kick and that made Painite grin more than anything. But it also made her want to retaliate, and she did that by rushing forward, while still holding the Dark Senshi's leg hostage.
Her goal was to force the senshi down and put painful pressure on her hip, or just awkwardly shove her off balance if she couldn't get her to fall. Either way, she would be able to follow up with a second attack.
She let her spear go, and it vanished into its pocket of negaspace for now, until she needed to call it again.
With her free hand she aimed a punch for Mimi's face, not holding back too much. Fights hurt, after all, and pain was often a good motivator to get better at defending. That, at least, was how Painite saw it, even if her own training had not been quite as intense.

"Crud... I guess my kicks don't work too well either," Mimi thought as her leg was being held by Painite. She knew she wasn't much of a fighter, but still. Did she really have to do so badly when it came to hand to hand combat? Then again, she couldn't do much with her powers either.
She was glad, at least, that her balance was decent and she was still on one of her legs. Her hip with the leg up was not fun though; it was cramping already. "I definitely should have stretched before this... I should start doing that before powering up at all."
Mimi was a bit preoccupied with her thoughts until she saw Painite make her spear disappear and wanted to...What?! The punch almost landed on her square in the nose, but Mimi had turned her head in time and got a punch in the cheek instead. This caused her to lose her balance and fall. Again.
The pain on her cheek was painful, but with the pain that came from her butt after falling, Mimi was confused which one she should baby more. Her right hand ended up rubbing the cheek that got hit while her left hand pushed herself off the ground and she stood up, rubbing her butt. "Bad attempt again, huh?"

"Not a bad attempt," Painite said, letting her get up.
She imagined there would be plenty of time for hard lessons. This pair up was probably not going as well as the Dark Senshi might have hoped. Or maybe it was just what she wanted. Painite was enjoy herself, either way, and it was a good distraction.
"Just bad follow through."
Standing tall, she placed a hand on her own hip and tilted her head at the senshi, watching her patiently but with a keen, hard edge.
"You have to be smart about your attacks: if your opponent is stronger than you, you can't fight them directly. You'll get your face bashed in, clearly. But what else can you do? Battles aren't easy, you just need to focus, train, and reach your full potential."

"Well, at least she didn't think it was horrible," Mimi thought with a sigh. She really wanted to learn how to defend herself, even if it took her days... weeks... years to learn it all. Magic was nice, but physical abilities seemed to be worth more with her kind of magic.
"How do you think I should have reacted," Mimi question Painite, really wanting to know what someone of her abilities would have done. "I can't say I know what to do in succession... I can only really decide what to do one step at a time... At least at the moment." She gave Painite a weak laugh.
Mimi knew that she had to develop her skills in some way. The problem was how, since she didn't know her self. "Can... Can you help me think the way you would in my situation?" It was a kind of half question half plea from Mimi, but she hoped that Painite would say yes, even if it was just basic knowledge.

"Find any weak point you can. Or just get the hell away until you can find that weak point. If you let your opponent get the advantage, they may only need that one attack to take you out. You can't give them that chance."
She watched Mimi, considering.
"If you have time, make traps. Use your surroundings. If you don't, just know your exits and levels, what you can utilize for your advantage. Always assume you can win."
She grinned, knowing that last bit was more a personal preference. She hated failure and did not want to dwell in it. Everything was a learning experience, and her strength came from diligent training and a stubborn refusal to be defeated.
"I'm short. Makes my eyes an easy target, or my throat. I talk a lot, too."

"I don't think you talk a lot," Mimi said with a laugh. "I think I'm asking more questions than anything, so I am very thankful that you talk more and not less." It was true; if Painite didn't talk enough, Mimi wouldn't know what to do or think. "You throw in a good punch every so often too."
Mimi looked at Painite while she tried to decide what weak points there are. Of course the eyes could be anyone's weakness, but she'd feel bad if they did any lasting damage on someone. Sure, it was a small possibilty she could even get that close to someone, but Mimi would rather convert someone and make them useful to Princess Ares than blind them.
"I guess normally I could surprise people using mirror walking?" She wasn't sure if Painite knew what it was exactly, but then again Mimi was sure that she couldn't be the first DMS that Painite has met. "But in this case..."
She looked over Painite, head to toe. "Hm... Where could I attack that might bring her down..." Mimi knew that in normal circumstances Painite would be holding her spear. Then Mimi noticed something. She wasn't sure if it would work, but at least it was worth a try.
Once again, Mimi stood in her 'ready to attack' position. This time, instead of doing a kick aimed somewhere high, she aimed somewhere lower. A lot lower. Mimi tried doing another side kick, this time aimed at the heel of Painite's boots.

"You could, but how long until that is common place? How many senshi already know you can do that? And what if you don't have a good mirror nearby?"
She was just throwing out questions, not really caring about the answers, just wanting to make Mimi think. That really was all there was to it: being able to improvise in the middle of a battle. It was what separated the real fighters from those that would just suffer defeat after defeat.
Until they were defeated for good, of course.
Painite wasn't anticipating someone going for her shoes. She was sturdy on them, but had not been prepped for someone kicking at her foot. It made her wobble, and she felt her body off kilter. She had no balance for half a second, which was likely as large an opening Mimi was going to get.
But it was an opening.

"Hm..." Mimi kept thinking. She knew that if she used the mirrors too much, eventually they'd be discovered and possibly destroyed by others. That would definitely be a bad thing and well, the other DMCs would probably hate her for that too. Definitely not a good thing.
Mimi's kick aiming for Painite's heel was a success! At least a little bit. She grinned and watched as Painite wobbled. When Mimi noticed, she quickly gave a side kick to the other leg, hoping it would knock her down. It wasn't much of a kick though, since Mimi was celebrating more than concentrating.
But still... Mimi made herself an opening!
