Hunting down here was not like in the mountains. You couldn't corner and pounce your prey, you had to stalk it. Easier said than done when procedure called for being hidden in plain sight with no experience all the while sticking out like a... er, like a blue lioness in the sandy-colored grasses. She didn't need to compare her predicament to something pulled out of thin air when the reality damned her just fine.
Korini didn't know it, but she wasn't the only one struggling with this change of environment (and don't get her started on culture shock). The difference between her and, say, her brother, was not the problem; rather, what and how they applied a solution differed. She could just picture him starving himself out there trying to do the wrong thing different ways. Not her. When Plan A didn't work, and Plan B faltered, she went all the way to Plan Lost Count of How Many Other Plans Came Before This One.
She had a special gift for authority. Korini could have no idea what she was doing and appear an expert. Combined with her knack for bringing strangers together, she had settled her hungry stomach through means of temporary arrangements with other rogues. (Yuck, did that word taste gross on her tongue. Rogue.)
The night was the best time to hunt around these parts, Korini learned, and the sun was just about setting. She was in quick pursuit of some companionship to help with her (and their) dinner.
It wasn't long before she found someone. Close to the Pridelands, though not quite over the borders, with Korini none the wiser about it.
"Hey! Male over there! Come over here!"

Marisol was a simple soul and enjoyed the easygoing ways of the Pride Lands. It was all he'd ever really known, and perhaps he had grown up soft. He was a very sweet fellow, and new not a stranger. There were so many lions in the Pride Lands, someone could have been a new member or a long time one, and he probably wouldn't have known. So when a voice he didn't know called out to him, be didn't second guess trotting on over with a big smile on his face. "Hi! Need something?"

That was easy.
Korini had either misunderstood how things worked out here or was so lucky she came across friendly rogues like these time and time again. Speaking of time, she didn't have enough of it to let suspicion get the best of her. There was work to be done.
"Yeah, dinner," Korini replied. Her first impressions weren't always her best, and this one didn't break the chain. If only she sounded as easygoing as she meant to be, not bossy and crass. "How about you? You want to help me and we'll both eat?"
