Cafeteria food was by no means good food, but it definitely beat starving. Eva was dumping a generous amount of salt and pepper on her slightly-wet scrambled eggs. The addition improved the taste, but not quite as much as she would have liked.
Still, with Chara nagging that she had to get some proper nutrition in her, Eva obediently finished her plate of eggs.
And some toast.
...And an apple, an orange, some milk, and--
--okay, Chara's nagging was one thing that Eva kind of didn't miss. By the time her weapon was satisfied, Eva was facedown on the table, groaning about being too full. Her weapon simply sighed. You're the one who barely ate anything while I was gone.

I'm FINE.
Jake had completely lost track of time, and had no idea how long it had been, but he wasn't planning on leaving yet. Sweat dripped down his face as he continued to punch the training dummies, each attack more relentless than the first.
Weak. Weak. WEAK. He was weak.
Without Chester, he couldn't do anything. Just a normal human. He wanted to change this. He NEEDED to change this.
I'm FINE.
He had already lost all feeling in his arms. How long had he been doing this?
With a grunt, he gave one last punch, and pulled back, panting. That would do for now.
After a quick shower, he headed to the cafeteria. He still wasn't hungry, but Chester wouldn't stop nagging him. You could only ignore a voice in your head for so long. He wasn't planning on staying, so he only grabbed an apple (with more complaint from Chester), and was about to head out, when he noticed a familiar figure slumped down on a table. (He could recognize that hairclip ANYWHERE)
Part of him just wanted to go back to training, but curiousity piqued him, and he wandered over to the table. "Not a morning person?" he chuckled.Kaiyumi Sorry for long post. Q__Q And... assuming it's morning due to breakfast foods. I can change my post if it's not though!

The girl jerked in surprise at the sudden voice, her eyes widening as she pushed herself back up. Who...? "Oh, Jake!" Actually, it had been quite a while since she had last spoken to him. They had run into each other--and others--in the fog, but after that, she had only caught glimpses of him as he fought in the final battle.
She pat the seat beside her to indicate that he should sit down before emitting a little laugh. "No, it's nothing like that. I'm usually up pretty early to train, but..." Sighing, she lifted a hand to gently tap her finger against her hair clip, "Chara here thinks that I wasn't taking proper care of myself while she was gone." To be fair, the weapon had a point--Eva had pretty much lived off of toast and water during those days--but stuffing her with food wasn't going to do any good either!
Though speaking of weapons...
"Oh, I never was introduced to your partner, Jake! I saw you guys in action while fighting those monsters in the fog, but..." She looked him up and down expectantly, trying to figure out what his weapon's unsummoned form was. Hmmmm...[A.V.] <33 PFFFF, it's cool! *u* <33 And yeees, breakfast! Sorry I didn't indicate that lkajdfjhas

Though Eva made a motion for him to sit, Jake didn't move from his spot. He wasn't planning on staying, let alone sit around having idle chatter. He had MORE important stuff to do.
He laughed when she mentioned her partner thinking she wasn't able to take care of herself, and remembered Sherry. Another person who was completely useless without their weapon? This was pretty funny... and sad.
You wish.
Jake arched an eyebrow when she mentioned his partner. She had been... watching them? ... oh, right. When they first met, he hadn't had Chester then. Man, it felt like he had been stuck with him forever by now.
Pulling his coat aside, he revealed a pair of keys clipped to his sash.
"This here's Chester. The weapon that never shuts up."
<...Only when you forget to take care of yourself.> Shut up.

Despite the fact he that didn't accept her offer to sit down, well...that didn't really prompt Eva to stop. She gave the seat another insistent pat, and then perked up in interest when the the boy shifted his coat to show her the pair of keys. Oh ho, so this was the unsummoned form of those tonfa! And his name was...Chester?
"Nice to meet you, Chester," She chirped cheerfully, wriggling her fingers at the keys in greeting. "Be sure to take care of Jake, okay? I've found that you weapons tend to be a lot more level-headed than we are, so..."
She trailed off with a little laugh, and then pat the chair next to her again, this time adding a direct, verbal request. "Why don't you sit down, sweetheart? How've you been doing since that last mission of ours?"

Jake scoffed. "I can take care of myself just FINE."
Hmph
Even as she patted the chair once more, he made no effort to move, and cringed when she called him "sweetheart".
"Fine. I just need to catch up on some training."

The girl chuckled. Jake reminded her a bit of Otto, actually...back in the day when they had first woken up and he had been especially grumpy. Not to say that the blond wasn't still grumpy, but...
"I know you can," Eva assured him, resting her elbow on the table and propping her head up on her hand, "But trust me, Chester will help keep you safe--and sane--in the long run. Treat him well, mmkay?"
Of course, she didn't expect him to listen to her--just as he had refused to sit down with her despite her many attempts to request that he do so--but that didn't matter. To solve the sitting problem, she kicked the chair around so that the seat was facing him, reaching out to grab his wrist and giving a sharp yank in the chair's direction. With luck, he'd fall right in.
...And if he doesn't manage to catch himself and falls, Eva?
...Then I...I owe him an apology and a bandaid?

He wasn't so sure about the sane part.
Gee, would you like a pat on the back? A gold star? Shall I shower you with praises day and night? <...>
Jake huffed. "No need to boost his ego. Now he'll never shut up."
And so it begins.
When Eva kicked the chair, he only arched an eyebrow, but when she grabbed his wrist, he realized what she was trying to do... albeit a bit too late. He had barely grabbed onto the back of the chair in time, with one knee resting on the chair seat to prevent him from toppling right over.
"HEY! Are you trying to kill me!?"

Smiling at the bicker that was doubtlessly happening between Jake and Chester--she had gotten used to some of the pauses that the Hunters would take when they talked to their weapons--she waited patiently until the boy's attention turned back to her, lifting a brow in amusement at his grouching.
"Whatever you say, kitten." And considering that this was Eva, she did not mean the term "kitten" to be anything but innocent. she just figured...well, Otto was the adorable puppy, and since this grump reminded her a little of the blond death trainee...
She did look a little apologetic when he nearly toppled over the chair, but her hands had shot out at the ready in case she needed to brace him. Considering that he was, at the very least, unharmed, she drew back. "Of course I'm not! I just wanted to talk to you some, since we haven't really talked since your awakening! I mean," Her gaze slid to his jacket, "It's always interesting to meet another Deathie."

Kitten. KITTEN?! He wasn't sure which nickname was worse. ... How did he even earn these nicknames?
Deciding that trying to leave would only result in, well, he wasn't really sure he COULD leave proven how insistent Eva had been on him staying.
With a huff, he swung one leg over the chair and sat with his arms resting on the back of the chair.
"Listen here. I'm fine with names like names like 'newbie', 'jerkface', 'brat' and the likes. But I DRAW THE LINE at these ones." They were terms of endearment. So much donotwant (and frankly, he wasn't even sure what category "kitten" fit in).
He scoffed, and rested his chin on his arms.
"There's nothing to talk about."

Eva seemed quite pleased when he (grudgingly) sat down, as she had truly been hoping to talk to him a little more, especially now that that mission was over. She smiled at him, but her smile changed into an amused grin as the topic turned to nicknames.
"Sorry, Kitten. I don't like calling people jerkfaces or brats, especially if I don't think that they fit those nicknames." Ignoring Chara's grumble of, "and is 'Kitten' any more fitting?', the young woman leaned forward--clearly with no regard for Jake's personal space--and smiled.
"There's plenty to talk about! Though, I er...did you...get a chance to talk to our division head before...?"
Frankly, she still wasn't sure how to feel. On one hand, she had never liked Caelius--in fact, she had pretty much detested him--but...well, yeah. A death was a death, and at the very least, she felt that he deserved respect for his power.
...Even if he had been a jackass with that power.

And as she leaned forward, he leaned back. ...This seemed all very familiar.
"I don't see how kitten is anymore fitting." he replied, as if speaking out loud for Chara. "How in the world did you even come up with something like that?"
Obviously, he had not been trying very hard if she didn't think that yet... or, he hadn't really hung around her all that much. Something he wasn't planning on changing anytime soon.
"Division Head?"
Oh, right. "Caelius", was it? He shook his head.
"Unless you count getting yelled at talking to."
Well, he wasn't exactly "yelled" at per se, since he was one of the ones who was actually FOLLOWING ORDERS, but yah. Regardless, he wasn't really one to talk, and it probably wouldn't of made much of a difference.
Shame, really. Someone in Deus he finally respected, and they had to go and die.

Jake would quickly learn, Chara was sure, that the concept of personal space was lost on Eva. It was at times like this that the weapon lamented the fact that she couldn't speak to others but...ah well.
"You remind me a little of Otto, who I call puppy," She answered, finally leaning back to a more appropriate distance, "So you're kitten!" She resisted the urge to give him an affectionate tap on the nose as she said this, and merely sat there with her hands in her lap and a bit smile on her face.
Of course, the smile faltered a little when it came to talking to Caelius. She actually looked a little grim, truth to be told. "Yeah, well...count yourself lucky that getting yelled at was all that happened," She murmured dryly, "If you, er, had had more time with him, I assure you that he would have made you feel worthless at least once a week."
A pause.
"Or he would have tried to kill you. I've had some pretty close calls myself."

Otto? Who the heck was Otto? ... What.
He only narrowed his eyes at her as she gave her explanation. ...Something told him trying to argue with her would be a vain attempt.
I swear, I'm going to kill you.
Eva's description of Caelius only made him smirk. Worthless once a week? That sounded soft.
... Try? He burst out laughing.
"Man. What have I been missing out on?"

She seemed satisfied when he didn't protest any further (frankly, in her eyes, she saw it as validation that he didn't dislike it!), but she couldn't help but lift her brows questioningly when he suddenly burst out laughing. U-uh...was it...really that amusing?
"You missed out on...almost being beheaded by that scythe of his, being used as guinea pigs for your promotional mission, being dropped into a pit slowly filling with sand..." Trailing off, the girl made a face, shaking her head, "In a way, I kind of consider you lucky. You first mission was pretty difficult to be sure, but I would have been happy to trade my first mission with your--"
She paused, suddenly remembering that they were in the cafeteria. Not the best place to talk about her first mission to be sure. She eyed Jake with a raised brow.
"Have you eaten lunch yet?"
