Name: Calitra Age: 18 Gender: Female Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual Craft/Rank: Candidate
History: Calitra was born in Igen Weyr to a drudge and a dragonrider. Her father didn't stick around to watch her grow after she was born, instead telling her mother to do what she liked with her. Although her mother, Cainara, told her that her father was a bronzerider she never told her his name. Instead of using part of the father's name for her name she used her sister's name, Nialtia.
For six Turns Cainara tried to take care of her daughter, though by that point she became rather busy working in the Weyr and had to leave Calitra to be mostly raised by the creche workers. She would still try to visit whenever she could, attempting to be an active part of her daughter's life. One day when she was eight Turns old she visited, promising that she would be back tomorrow. But she never came, everyone said that she was a little sick. Unfortunately she did not get better and passed away after a few days.
When she was twelve Turns old Calitra became an active part of the lower caverns. She was given simple jobs at first, getting harder and harder as time went on. Instead of complaining about her chores she worked hard, hoping that maybe if she was good enough she would be chosen as a dragon Candidate. Maybe she would even Impress to a gold and become Weyrwoman, then everyone would look up to her. This kind of thinking began to change when she hit thirteen Turns old. That was when she had an encounter with a new goldrider. When she talked to her and asked if she thought she would ever be a rider the woman laughed, saying that she was just a lowly Weyrborn drudge, she could never be anything great. Proper girls only impressed gold and golds only liked hold bred girls, fighting dragons where for the men. When she attempted to tell her that her father was a bronzerider she said it didn't matter if he didn't claim her, she was just a little girl with no rank that would never have any rank. At first she attempted to push those thoughts out of her mind, saying that the goldrider must have just been a stuck-up holder girl. However, as time went on she had more encounters with people of rank, each of them ending unpleasantly. Eventually she declared that all people of rank must be horrible and she would avoid them all.
She still wanted a dragon though, evil rankers or not. In order to make this dream come true she asked to be searched, a request that was granted. But when the day of the hatching came the only result was her being mauled by a little bronze hatchling. That day nearly cost her her life thanks to sheer blood loss. It was only thanks to the healers the she survived to see another day. Once she was healed she was removed from candidacy, the Headwoman having decided she wouldn't be able to impress a dragon. When she asked why that was she said that after seeing her mauled she believed she was not able to impress.
She was fifteen Turns old when this happened. For three Turns she worked as a drudge. The next turning point came when a rider from Trine Weyr was visiting. She didn't sit around and wait to be searched. Instead she walked right up to the rider and asked to be taken to Trine Weyr as a Candidate. As candidates are not able to transfer weyrs they made a plan together. Calitra claimed to be going to the south to learn a craft while in reality she went to Trine as a candidate.
Throughout all the recent trouble she has been very sympathetic to the revolution. She hated rankers, they seemed to hate rankers, it was a perfect fit in her mind.
Description: Calitra's skin would be pale and white if it where not for the amount of time that she spends in the sun. Because of that her skin has a nice healthy tan to it. Plenty of scars cover it from a less then plush life as a drudge at Igen Weyr. Most of them are tiny things from a scratch that she picked at or a deeper cut received from a knife used for cutting vegetables, but there are some more prominent ones. One is a burn mark on the palm of her left hand from some cooking troubles, another is a long mark on her leg received from falling on some rocks. The scratch wasn't terribly deep, it just refused to heal properly. The most noticeable scar stretches across her stomach, received from a young dragonet. She has wide brown eyes, very round in shape. Everything on her face is proportionate, although her pale pink lips are a bit thin. Blemishes can be found on her face in the form of acne scars and large pores. The build of her face is soft and round with high cheekbones. Despite how ratty it tends to get she refuses to cut her hair short, instead keeping it long but knotted and dirty. It is a dark brown in color, coming close to black.
Her clothes are almost never anything fancy or pretty. All that matters to her is how comfortable it is and if it tears easily. She needs things that will last as she gets them dirty beyond recognition. It doesn't matter to her that clothes like that don't normally look that nice. Frilly dresses and fancy skirts are for other people, definitely not her. The same goes for her shoes. It doesn't matter how ugly or bulky they are as long as they keep her feet warm and don't break.
Personality: Calitra is not some little girl that has been cared for and treated like a little flower all her life, and it shows. She has little patience for those that are delicate and careful, calling them wimps that wouldn't be able to last a day as a drudge or someone that works for a living. According to her those that have life a little easier or boast any kind of rank don't work for a living. They have everything given to them on a silver platter, never having to work a day in their life. After all, don't people always cherish the gold and bronzeriders? Doesn't everyone flock to make sure the gold stays safe in Threadfall? Sure, they are valuable for the ability to Clutch, but she believes that the sensible thing to do is keep them on the ground instead of allowing then to fight Thread in the sky. All they can do in the air is cause everyone else to worry about them while they pretend to be a fighter. Besides, any girl that would make a good fighter wouldn't Impress something like a gold.
Her dislike of rankers goes beyond just thinking them spoiled. She absolutely resents them, thinking that they are all horrid, vile people. When she encountered them as a drudge at Igen they treated her like absolute dirt, like rank meant everything. After this she just assumes that all higher ranking riders or Weyrfolk must act this way. When she encounters a higher ranking person around the Weyr she will attempt to avoid them at first, but if she absolutely has to interact with them she will be incredibly distrustful and slightly rude. They think that they are better than her and she wants nothing to do with them.
Manners are something that Calitra does not care for. Why would she need utensils to eat when she has her hands? No, her hair does not to be freshly washed and combed in order for her to have a nice day. There is nothing wrong with being a little dirty, you walk on dirt, you live on a planet made of dirt, it has a right to cling to you. Rules are another thing that she isn't a big fan of. Of course she doesn't do anything big enough to get thrown out of Candidacy, but all the little things are there to be broken. Doing chores and living a boring Candidate life is something that she absolutely refuses to do. Instead she will go out, get in to some trouble, and have fun. Being a peaceful little girl is an absolutely repulsive idea to her. As far as dragons are concerned she wants to Impress to a nice fighting dragon, something that she can take to the sky and destroy things with.
When interacting with people a lot depends on their rank in the weyr. With lower ranking people she will be generally friendly, if not a little crude and indecent. If she meets someone of rank she will avoid them as much as possible and be rather rude and abrasive if cornered.
Other: Nope

Hey! Calitra looks great to me, just a couple of minor details:
- Why was it that the headwoman decided she wouldn't be able to Impress?
- Transferring isn't something that candidates are allowed to do; if she left with the Trine rider, it would be better for her/them to claim she was going south to learn a craft or something even if it wasn't true.
- Could you tell me briefly how she's felt about all the chaos recently? With her hate of rankers did she feel some sympathy towards the revolution, or not?
- Her personality looks great to me, but could you tell me just a bit about how she interacts with her peers? Does she find it hard to make friends, etc? Does she want friends?
Other than this she looks great! I look forward to playing with her =D
