Lani peered around the Savannah, the medium sized trees and some rocks. Mostly it was filled with tall savannah grass. Which you could hide in to hunt, sometimes it worked and other times it didn't. Lani pinned his ears at the heat and decided to find a small tree to lay under. Finally finding that tree he was watching the gazelle and zebra munch on the grass around him. Not being very hungry,Lani just watched them closely. He liked how peaceful they looked,no one bothered them until someone was hungry. Then a part of their family was lost due to them having to hunt to support their own families. He didn't really like hunting but he would have to do it to survive.

Jalnur had been stalking a hare that had gone into some tall grass. It towered slightly over her, as she wasn't a very big Hyena. In fact, she was smaller than most hyenas. She didn't mind, however. She sniffed, and was pretty hidden in the tall grass. Her tail moved lightly from side to side as she sniffed some more. It seemed to be useless, the hare had gone and she knew it.
She signed and headed out of the tall grass. To her surprise, she noticed another hyena, and food. Though there was only one of her, she'd never be able to take down one of them. She was much more of a scavenger than anything. Lately, however, it had become rather much of a task for her. She had no one to pair with to make it easier to find, as well as her size. Her size was the biggest problem, other creatures took advantage of it and drove her away.
She eyed the male curiously, trying to decide if he was harmless or not. After a moment or two, she decided she didn't care much. She smiled and moved towards him. "Why are you watching them eat?" She didn't think they were interesting. Food just made her belly growl. She looked from him to the food. Her belly rumbled softly, but she paid no mind to it. Even with two, hunting would be hard.

With his tail flicking his eyes wandered around the land in curiosity. Pawing at the ground he started string up dirt to keep him occupied, that was until he heard a hare speed off and a sigh coming from near by. His ears raised as he awaited for something to come from behind him in the grass. A females voice called out to him and he just pinned his ears quickly. Lani lifted himself up off the dirt ground and turned around towards the female. "Nothing else to do." He said quietly. There wasn't really anything much to do because he was a loner himself. He didn't have anyone at all to keep him company. "Did you scare that hare?" Lani motioned to the small little cloud of dirt that fluttered down towards the ground slowly. He noticed how small she was compared to him,"Do you need help?" Lani asked with a small smile.

She raised a brow, he saw her hare? Her ears popped forward, but she didn't see any trace of the hair anymore. Poop, she had lost it for good this time, even if she thought that about ten seconds ago. Her ears relaxed and she looked back to him. "Well, I was hunting it, but seems it got away from me." She giggled. She didn't want to seem like she was a bad hunter, but that was just how most hyenas were. She bobbed her head for a moment in her own little thoughts then looked at him.
"Oh no, I don't need help," She said with a smile. She didn't want to trouble him, but he was the first hyena she had seen in a while. "What are you doing out here?" Curiosity would kill her one day, but today it seemed as if she was safe. For now. He could be some trickster that wanted to eat her... no.. He wasn't a lion. How silly would that be, he was also a hyena too. She never heard of a hyena eating another hyena.

Eyeing the female he shook his head. "It sure seems it." He smiled.Lani took a small look at her markings and how small she was,She was smaller than the average hyena. "Are you sure you don't need any help?" He patted his front paw on the ground,"I don't mind helping." His ears raised at her question."I..am not really sure actually. Trying to find my place I suppose." Lani sighed a bit,he was quite a bit of a loner and that sucked in this world. "I don't have anyone."

Jalnur smiled at him and decided he was harmless. After all, if he wanted to, he could have killed her twice. Her ears bounced up a bit more at ease "Well, I was just chasing a hare that you so happened to see," she started. "Then I lost it, and it got away, which is when you saw it." She said with a nod. "So, I don't think I need help anymore, You told me that it was already left the area." She nodded. Hunting was a tricky business, and not one that she was good at. "next time I'll stick to hunting dead things." She giggled.
"Well, this place isn't exactly what you might want to call home." She said looking at him. She wouldn't even call this place home, and well, she lived around here more than she should have. "It's dangerous." She added. "too many things can go wrong in an area like this, and doesn't look like much shelter is here." From the looks of him, though, she figured he could take care of himself better than she could herself.
She shook her head at him. "You shouldn't be so down about it" She liked being alone, though she supposed sometimes she wished she had a sidekick to come and join her from time to time. But other then that, all she knew was herself, and being alone.

Lani blinked a little bit and listened to her."You have an offer for whenever you need it." He nodded slightly and looked off into the distance that the hare ran off to."Dead things aren't always so good."He laughed."I think i'd rather be eating bugs than rotten flesh." Lani smiled at the female and he turned to look around them to make sure they were both safe. "By how the zebra and gazelle look,it doesn't seem like a very safe place." He nodded in agreement. No shelter?Where could he live? "Maybe we could find some shelter, and some water. I am a bit parched." Lani agreed with her that it wasn't so bad that he was alone, sometimes it was the best to be.Rather than being in a huge group and then the group members ripping each others heads off for meals."I suppose I shouldn't worry about it too much."

This hyena was different and strange. All the hyenas she knew wouldn't care if it was rotting or not. She watched him with admiration. He was a hyena with class, something she seemed to lack. "I don't eat rotting things, just things that other's kill." She said simply. Never would she eat something that had smelled off, but if it smelled fresh then it was all game.
"Worrying will only make you stressed and irritated." She simply said with a bob of her head. "There's no need to be either. "I don't know where there's water, but I'm sure we can find something." If not, then they'd die... Okay, no... they probably wouldn't die. She never had problems finding what she needed when she needed. Her tail started to wag a bit. Maybe they could be friends.

Lani just didn't like the smell or taste of rotten meat,he wouldn't prefer to eat it but if it was the last thing left he defiantly would eat it."If I had to...I suppose I would." He shrugged just a little bit. Then she started speaking once more and he tilted his head."Water would be nice."Lani turned a bit looking around again,"Have you ever been in a small pack?"Wondering a bit about this female,he would ask her some questioned and he hoped she would ask back.Maybe finding her was a good thing.

She shook her head at his question. "No, I haven't been in any type of pack." Not even in a group of more than one, more than an hour or so. She was a lone hyena and that was all to it. She had pondered if that really even counted, though decided it'd have to be at least one moon round before it could count. "I've only ever been with my mom when I was a pup, but since then It's just been me." She said.
She wasn't sad about it, honestly. She didn't know anything else, and to her it was what hyena's did. Or maybe, she was just strange and happened to meet other strange hyena in her travels. Then again, they could have been lying to her. That never mattered, however. Only that she had company for a certain amount of time to make life a little less lonely.
"I've seen some packs before, though." She told him. "But from a distance, they didn't look too friendly towards outsiders." She wasn't about to put herself into danger on purpose. She might have risked her life, but she wasn't stupid about it. They'd probably kill her before she could tell them she wasn't going to do any harm to them. Not that they'd probably believe it anyways.

Listening to the other hyena,he raised his ears in curiosity. She was all alone herself? No matter how sad that seemed it might have been the best. Not really ever did he think about being in a group, but when he did he thought of making a group of rouges.Though that might result in others being murdered by others. But sometimes when you're out there in the world by yourself, the best thing you can think of is bringing together loners. They could be skilled in certain things that others that were born into one didn't have. Which would be a plus in Lani's book. It would be helpful to the whole group, work together to survive and keep going. "I am sorry to hear. At least you're doing well on your own?" He tried to be positive,he hoped she was doing quite well out alone on her own. She did turn down his offer to help her get some food,he wished she didn't.
"May I ask what happened to her?" Lani didn't want to did into her private life, but he was just curious."If it is too painful to talk about then you don't have to say anything at all.I respect that."Sadly he didn't know his parents, grew up and tried to teach himself most of the things he knew.No mentor or any kind of idea what to do,he just did that he thought would do good.He went with that, now he was older and wiser. Lani was glad he grew up the way he did,a family would have been nice. Only if they still let him learn by himself, maybe a few pointers. But he wouldn't have his life any other way.

She didn't know why he was sorry, it wasn't his fault with how things happened. She smiled at him. "Well, don't I look well?" She did a small circle so he could see all of her. Of course, she didn't expect him to tell her that she was the most gorgeous thing alive, but she knew she was pretty. She gave him a sorta wink when she came back to face him. She was sure he'd know that she was quite well.
"Oh, well she chased my siblings and I off. It was hard to keep us fed, and feed one's self." She said with a smile. She wasn't sad about it at all. "When we were old enough, and she knew that we could fend for ourselves, she basically said it was time for us to leave." She nodded. She figured that was how it always was. Her mom wanted them to start off in the world and start their own life, it was the best thing she could have done for Jalnur.
"Didn't your mother do the same?"

"Of course!"He wagged his tail and gave her a smile."Perfect."He nodded and looked back at his ghostly look. She was so much prettier than he would ever be,he was so dull.
He blinked a couple times and blushed slightly at the wink."Really? Is that how things work?"He wasn't familiar with growing up with siblings and family."I honestly don't remember. I just remember getting up one day and living in these lands.I was already an adult,i'm thinking i had a old life but something happened to make me not remember any of it."He didn't remember a single bit,he didn't even know his mother or even if he had one. Lani shrugged.
"Would you ever do that to your own?"He asked her. Lani wasn't sure if he would do that to his own or not.

"I probably wouldn't do the same." She said with thinking about it. "But I'm not what one would call a normal hyena." Family was important to her and she realized that the moment she was chased off and alone. Perhaps it was good lesson, but it had been the worse experience she had ever had happen to her. She just assumed it happened to everyone... Maybe it didn't and her mother was was the one that wasn't a normal hyena?
"Oh, that sounds horrible." She said as she looked at him with caring eyes. How could someone forget everything about their past? She knew that sometimes she forgot bits and pieces about stuff, but not full memory loss. Perhaps he had got hit in the head, or someone had put a spell on him. Oh, the possibilities that could have happened. It interest her more than she would have liked to admit. It was a sad thing, yet she wanted to know more.... Even if he couldn't really tell her.... was that a bad thing?

He was certainly pleased that she wasn't going to turn out like her mother. That really would upset him if she pushed her own out by themselves to try to figure out life. "I'm glad then. I wouldn't know how to feel about it if I seen it happen."He nodded and gave a smile. He pawed the ground a little bit and flicked his tail.
"What is your name?"Lani asked with a bit of a shy voice. "I am Lani."Said in a soft but trying to be confident voice. He was a bit shy when it came to asking about personal questions about the females that might offend them.
