Teenagers who are sexting are starting to be considered as sex offenders They used to give out warnings a few years ago, but it seems the warnings are gone in some states And they are just considering them as sex offenders Here is a video about it (Link)*the link is safe, there are no bad pictures, they blurred them out* Thoughts about it? I like the idea, but i think there should be a warning first I will admit, i tried this when i was younger and got busted the next week The police came to the house and took my computer As well as gave my mom and i a booklet about what sexting is And how horrible it is and its consiquinces Since then, i havent done anything like that And never will because of the fear of being considered a sex offender

There is nothing wrong with sexting as long as everyone involved is legal, consenting, and ok with the possibility of their pictures being distributed. I have shared a lot of photos of myself, and I have no regrets. I was 21+ for all the photos, I only shared them with people who said they were over 18, and I'm ok with it if those people shared them with other adults.
But when teens sext, they're essentially distributing child porn, oftentimes to other children, but the pictures could make their way into the hands of adults too. That's not so good. Especially since teens overall don't understand the consequences of their actions as well as adults do overall, so they also might not fully understand that their pictures can be shared and what they could mean for them.
So I think it's good that people are trying to crack down on teen sexting. But I don't like when people act like all sexting is bad. And I don't like that teens are getting in legal trouble for sexting. Even though they're technically distributing child porn, these laws were put in place to protect teens from adult predators because the law recognizes that the average teen doesn't have the decision making skills and the understanding of consequences that the average adult does. If we legally punish the teens for these kinds of things, it kind of defeats the whole purpose of the laws if you ask me.

I agree that its perfectly fine if both the receiver and sender are 18 or older. Most teenagers, myself included when i did it, might not think ahead that it could be shared to more and more people, including adults. I dont think teens should be in trouble for life for sexting, but i do believe there should be a warning, and if the underage sexting continues then they should be some trouble for it.

Obviously, underage people putting pictures of themselves up for people to see is bad, but the video is making sexting into some big monstrous event, when it's not. People putting up sexual pictures of themselves, regardless of age, are being stupid I think, because they're not realising that absolutely anyone can see them if they have a bit of understanding of technology. I think more needs to be done to explain this to younger people in general. I'm sixteen, though - I realised I sounded really old in the above paragraph - and that's reasonably young, although it's of age here. My boyfriend and I do sext each other, but with words only. It's not that I worry about him showing his friends, because if he was that kind of guy I wouldn't be with him. I don't send him pictures because he's an absolute moron and doesn't look after his phone so anyone could take it, and it's not even password protected. We've been on skype a few times, but that's as visual as it gets when we're not actually together.

Just because someone shares a sexual picture doesn't necessarily mean that they don't realize that other people may see it. A lot of people (like me) share pictures and are perfectly ok with other people seeing them.

A lot of people (like me) share pictures and are perfectly ok with other people seeing them. Unfortunately, though, there's a lot of people that are ok with that, but don't understand what the idea of 'other people' really means. If you're fine with other people seeing pictures of you, then I would see that as fine because you're a pretty educated person about these matters, and you're an adult. I've seen girls from my school whose facebook profiles are them in their underwear, all but masturbating just because they want people to look at the picture. They may be ok with that, but the problem is that they're about thirteen. They're creating child pornography, and also reinforcing the idea that we should all be viewing women sexually. Body confidence is fine, but then there's the people who don't have confidence in themselves as anything more than a body, and the ones who don't actually get what 'anyone and everyone' means.

I dont think sexting should be a problem as long is it's between two people, and only those two people.

Boulivar I dont think sexting should be a problem as long is it's between two people, and only those two people. They should also be of age, 18+. If its only shared between those to people, then its respectful and a plus. But there are people out there that show tons of people. Possibly because they want to brag, or possibley to degrade the other person in a way - like the ex-gf porn sites. Not all of those girls know theyre on the internet. But thats a whole other topic to rant about.

When my boyfriend and I were long distance, we would sometimes sext. We both agreed never to save the pictures that were sent. So eventually the phone would delete them after a certain amount of texts. That way, there is less of a chance of the pictures being stumbled upon.
