Kali had left her cubs with her mother and her half-siblings and slowly walked away from the heart of the pride in order to do a bit of hunting. With each silent step she took it had become increasingly difficult to ignore the loud rustling behind her which she’d long attributed to one of her sons who seemed determined to follow her everywhere lately. As if the poor boy wasn’t loud enough, his pure white coat made it nearly impossible for him to hide in this low grass area - his color, so unlike his father’s pure black was still confusing Kali to this day.

“Come on, Nuria. Keep up.” She said without looking back, a wide grin quickly disappearing in favor of a more neutral expression. Normally, the Patron would’ve sent him away but just the day before Nuria had given her a string of beads that perfectly matched her coat and managed to touch a soft spot in the young mother. Besides, he wasn’t that small anymore and he was perfectly capable of keeping up with her if he really wanted to.

-------------

Zuria was a terribly good mood. He knew he’d made his mother happy with the beads he’d traded for his collection of bones the day before and he was pushing the limits by following Kali again. It was fairly obvious that she knew he was there and the fact she hadn’t sent him away yet meant she didn’t mind his presence. Zuria was ecstatic. He just hoped his grandmother wouldn’t worry about his sudden disappearance though, in all fairness, his little disappearing acts had become fairly predictable at this point.

“Coming!”
he said, running quickly to his mother’s side when she openly acknowledged his presence. He looked up at the purple lioness with a happy grin, nearly tripping as he tried to keep up with her pace.

Popolohua was very new to the pride and in his excitement in learning about his new home and learning even the boarders around the pride. he had gotten himself terribly lost. though one would not know he was actually freaking out about getting lost since he was just humming and walking along without a care. but he knew Lameria was not going to be pleased with him for getting himself lost already. oh well he figured he would some how managed to wander his way back or possibly run into another pride member on a hunt or something.

Sorry! it took a little longer than I expected! <3

Zuria quickly caught up to his mother but ran past her as fast as he could, hoping to impress her with his speed. His playful expression disappeared abruptly though as the pale lion froze only a couple of moments later, looking worried. He had just spotted a strange lion ahead and instinctively crouched slowly even though his white coat fought his meager attempts at concealment.

“Mom.” Zuria whispered, looking back over his shoulder. “There’s a lion there. I’ve never seen him before.”

-------------------------

Kali, however, had seen the lion before and she’d even spotted him before his son. In her former pride, she might’ve quickly forgotten a recently joined male and made no effort to remember his name or appearance but as a Patron she needed to quickly recognize each member of the pride from a quick glance – and Kali took her role very seriously. She supposed it helped that the male shared some of her colors mixed in a dark coat much like the one of the God that had fathered her cubs.

“He’s new.” Kali told her son with little interest although she was curious – and perhaps even a little suspicious - as to what the lion was doing so far from the heart of the pride.

(not a prob. xD; i been so slow i feel bad )

Popolohua stopped humming as soon as he noticed the mother and son together. he wasn't sure if they were apart of the Kizi since he was still rather new. so with a friendly smile, he walked over to them and tried to make sure in his approach wouldn't anger the mother as it seemed both mother and son were a little uneasy about him. " hello, it seems i have gotten myself turned around while exploring the area. seems i tend to get a little lost a bit easy, specially when i'm new to a area." chit chatting away, it was clear he was the friendly type and if possible he could hold a conversation all by himself if the other didn't want to talk.

Kali gave the male a brief nod of acknowledgment as he moved closer. He seemed friendly enough and the lioness didn’t really feel threatened by a lone male to the point of feeling protective of Zuria, especially when the lion in question had recently joined the pride. As far as she was concerned, her son needed contact with adult males and that was certainly the thing most lacking in her family at the moment.

“I’m known as Swiftkill here. This is my son. ” She didn’t know the other lion’s true name nor did she know if he’d already picked a gypsy name but in all honesty, there was a good change she’d forget either if he were to give them to her. “The pride is that way.”

---------------------

Now that he knew the lion was also part of the pride, Zuria had no problems being in plain sight and talking to the adult. Black and purple were common colors in his family so this male also felt somewhat familiar and if his mother hadn’t already told her cubs about their father, the young lion might’ve made some wrong assumptions there.

“Mom also came from the outside when she was younger. The muses were still here back then and everyone was crazy.” The pale youngster said effusively, quickly calming down under the stern gaze of his mother.

" thank you for helping me out. i am Midnight Song. its a pleasure to meet you and your son." it had not taken him very long to get a gypsy name and he felt strongly that is suited him a lot because of his musical notes on his coat. " i feel lucky i came across you both." he had yet to really get to learn alot of the history of the pride but he had heard stuff about the muses and the pride members being crazy at one time. " it must of been a interesting time back then for the pride." he was amused with Swiftkill's son as it seemed he was quick to warm up to him the second he found out that he was a pride member. " so if you don't mind me asking what were you up out here?"

Kali nodded approvingly. It was good that the stranger had already picked a gypsy name as she considered it showed some level of commitment to the pride. When her son started blabbing – it wasn’t difficult to gain his trust, apparently – she winced when the subject turned to the old muses.

“I admit I do not miss those days in the slightest.” It was no secret that Kali had been terribly relieved by the disappearance of the muses but she had the decency to keep those feelings to herself especially around the older members of the pride that did actually miss the creepy whispers that had once plagued her. And because Kali didn’t really like to explain herself to a male, she pointedly ignored his last question.

---------------------

Zuria’s eyes widened when he heard the adult’s name. He could see how it would fit the dark lion and it was similar to the one he was considering for himself. He hadn’t told anyone about it nor had he even tried to say it aloud just to see how it sounded so it was interesting to hear half his name being spoken all of a sudden.

“Mom is going to hunt and I’m… going to watch.” He didn’t know much about the muses but that at least was a question he could answer. He eyed the adult curiously, taking one step forward. “Where did you come from?” He wondered if Midnight Song came from a pride as strange as Kali’s.

Midnight Song could tell it was a touchy subject so after Swiftkill , he let that subject of the muses go. his attention now was on the conversation with the young boy Zuria who seemed to like to ask questions. " i came from no where. i have been a wandering rouge all my life until recently when i decided to settle here." he gave a chuckle and it was clear he had no problems telling someone he was a former rouge. " its always good to watch and learn. i'm sure you will learn to hunt in no time." he only hoped that he wasn't annoying Swiftkill in anyway by chatting with her son.

Kali was actually quite pleased that the male seemed happy to interact with her son even if she wasn’t very good at showing it. The boy needed not only contact with adult males but Zuria would also need a mentor in the future, depending on what task he’d take. Kali suspected that both her sons, despite showing a great potential for size and built, were going to make a different choice than the one she’d made once they turned into adolescents but she wasn’t going to try and influence them in any way. She would support all her children in those important choices even if it meant tracking down lions to teach them the skills they would require in the future.

“I hope you find this place worthy of settling in then. It is…” Kali looked amused for a moment and a grin formed slowly on her maw. “…a rather interesting place now. Have you chosen a rank yet?”

------------------------

“From nowhere? How can someone come from nowhere?” the pale cub asked curiously, tilting his head to the side in a display of mild confusion. He couldn’t have been born already travelling, right? Right…?

“This place is fun. Everyone really friendly and tricky but you’ve joined so they won’t trick you.” He eyed the male, a good amount of curiosity still visible in his eyes as he waited for the answer to his mother’s question. It was one he’d been asking himself lately and so far, he hadn’t come up with a definite answer.

" i find this place wonderful and i doubt i could find a better place to settle in. i had decided on being a fortune teller since i find it to be a very interesting craft that caught my interest." Midnight Song couldn't help but chuckle at the question the pale cub asked. " you can be from nowhere if you never had a place to call home and never stayed in one place very long. so you can't exactly say your from somewhere when you never settled anywhere." oh how he was enjoying this and was glad to be getting to know other pride members.

Kali watched the male for a few moments, silently considering his suitability as a future mentor for her cubs. So far, none of them had really voiced a definite opinion regarding their futures but Kali believed they had the potential to be whatever they wished. Her black daughter might take the same path Midnight Son, she suspected but there was still a long way before they had to make that kind of a decision. I all honesty, she wasn’t even certain all her children would choose to remain in the pride once they were all grown up.

“I hope you find a good mentor. I’m afraid I don’t personally know any fortune tellers.” Kali’s head rose slightly as her eyes narrowed. “I can smell the herd in the wind. Zuria, let’s go. I’ll see you later, Midnight Song.”

-----------------------

“Oh.” Zuria took in the explanation with a thoughtful expression. It seemed a little sad to never have had a place to call home with friends who knew and recognized him. At least Midnight Song seemed really interested in staying with them and making their pride his home so it sounded this story would have a happy ending.
The cub nodded at his mother’s words and followed after Kali with bouncy steps, stopping halfway to smile at the black and purple adult.

“Bye!” the young lion said with a wide smile before his expression showed a mild concern. “Don’t forget, the pride is that way!” He told the adult helpfully before continuing on his way. It wouldn’t do for him to get lost again, right?

"i can only hope that i can find a good mentor to teach me." Midnight song had high hopes of finding a good mentor. he just had to put in the time to get to know the other pride members and find a good mentor. " and no worries i wont forget this time. you two have a good hunt." grinning, he was in high spirits and was pleased with himself for finding friends even though he met them from getting lost. now all he had to do was go back to the pride and find his mate to tell her the news that he made some friends or so he felt they were friends already.
