It was a blessed, blessed thing to have Chara back. Although their relationship had initially started a year ago as the "nagged" and the "nagger" (it was pretty clear who was what), they had somehow managed to develop a close and loyal friendship with one another. Of course, the fact that they were always in each other's heads could have contributed to that, but Eva had genuinely felt lost without having her partner with her.
And, of course, now that she had her weapon back, that meant that she could go back to her usual schedule of training.
It was early morning when the girl arrived at the training grounds, and she studiously worked to make up for lost time, smiling at the familiar feeling of wielding her weapon. Holding the bladed-staff felt so natural in her hands now, and she had sincerely missed Chara's company during her absence. She wasn't sure why it was that her partner couldn't remember the last battle, but all in all, Eva was just relieved to have her back.
Perhaps you should find someone to spar with, The gorgon suggested, after they spent an hour whacking at the practice dummies, It would be much more beneficial to everyone involved if you were to practice with another person.
She was right, of course...but the question was whether anyone else would be up and willing to spar at this hour.

Jude had felt restless and there was only a handful of things to do while at the island and honestly he didn't feel like using up his 'vacation' time that he may have saved up by now so he could go out with the 'civilians' and hang out somewhere where he didn't feel comfortable anymore. Thus he found himself at the training grounds with Yom murmuring softly in Greek at him as if telling him a story to try and help assure him that she was still there with him.
He'd found himself often asking Yom odd questions just to see if she'd respond and to see if she was really there she seemed glad to comply.
As he got to the training ground he noted Eva and blinked a little wandering toward her, "Doing a bit of training?" Jude offered a small smile.

Oh ho, how lucky! Eva's eyes immediately brightened upon hearing the familiar voice, and ignoring Chara's murmur of, "there's your sparring partner right there", she launched herself at the man, wrapping her arms around him in an affectionate hug. After a few seconds ticked by, she let go with a sheepish grin, slipping back.
"Morning, Jude! You're up early!" Granted that she was too. At the question, her smile grew, and she nodded as she turned to look at Chara. "Yup! I mean, we have to make up for lost time, and it's just so nice wielding my staff again--..."
She trailed off thoughtfully, cocking her head to the side as she looked back up at Jude. Tapping her chin with her gloved hand, a small smile slowly began to curl on her lips.
"Hey, would you...be willing to spar with me, maybe?"

"Early enough to see you out here, at any rate," he replied with a small smirk. He listened to her chatter and then trail off, Jude raised an eyebrow. She asked him to spar and he lifted his hands as if to hold her back, even though she was in no way touching him.
He shook his head a little, "I get kinda mean when I spar, Eva. I don't want you to get that side of me," he said quietly suddenly bashful around the girl he let play with his hair.
Yom seemed amused by this turn of events.

Eva blinked blankly for a few seconds before she suddenly reached out to grasp one of Jude's hands in both of her's, staring up at him with a determined expression on her face. "It's okay! Even if you get kind of mean, and even if you beat me up, I promise that I'll never dislike you!" She said this with all of her confidence, as she knew for a fact that even if she were to, for some reason, try to dislike Jude, she would never be able to bring herself to do so.
And then suddenly, her determined expression dropped into one of pitiful hopefulness. "I really need to practice with some spars! Please Jude, pleaaase? A spar without holding back between two friends?"
Chara could only sigh.

Jude found his hand being grasped. Eva was pleading at him and assuring him that she would not dislike him. He gave a small quiet sigh as he finally relented, "You promised," he reminded her as he carefully pulled his hand away and summoned up his weapon.
"If this is what you think you need, then let's get started." He said trying to smile and look cheerful for the spar.
...He wasn't all that excited at the moment.

Jude would find himself on the receiving end of a tight hug as she threw her arms around him--weapon be damned--before she stepped back a few paces. Summoning Chara, she held the staff up in front of her at the ready, getting into position.
"Yup, I promised," Eva agreed, nodding, "Just promise me you won't hate me either, okay? ...Ready?"

When it became clear that they were both ready and the battle could begin, Eva made the first move, darting forward towards Jude with her weapon in hand. As she got close enough to strike, there was a falter--okay, so hitting Jude, even for a spar, made her feel a little more conflicted than she had originally thought--but she managed to recover quickly enough. She brought Chara down in a diagonal slash, perking up a little when she felt the attack connect with Jude's FEAR shield.
Stay on your guard, Eva!

He let her hug him but didn't return it for obvious reasons.
"There will be no hard feelings," He promised her with a bit of a smile. As she came for her first attack he simply took it on, braced for it even. Jude's body tensed as he felt it hit his FEAR shield. It was amazing how much he missed having a weapon until it was gone.
He shook out his arms a bit, "Nice one," he said coolly. Jude suddenly ran toward her making slash at her with not just one punching dagger but the other one as well. HP: 45 DMG: 7

She knew for a fact that she had not signed herself up for an easy fight by asking Jude, but that was how she liked it. She knew that her friend was skilled, and really, it only made sense to her to start off her training again by battling someone who would prove to be a challenge.
Sure enough, she was right. Eva winced at the strikes and attempted to retaliate, but she felt her blade merely graze Jude as she jerked backwards and tried to get into a better position.

"Well, that tickled," he responded to her less than stellar hit against him.
He didn't give her much time to adjust as he went in with a new attack aiming to throw her off balance by striking to the side of her. Jude was aiming for all of her undefended areas. If she wanted to train then he would help her do so.

Eva swung Chara out just as Jude staggered her, the girl's eyes going wide as her attack just barely connected (another unintentional tickle attack) and she was sent stumbling. She managed to catch herself at the last minute, but only by using her staff as support.
Graceful. Real graceful.
She could practically see Chara facepalming in her mind.

He attempted to deflect her attack with a blade but due to her graceless moment he accidentally swiped at her and caught her forearm with a part of his blade.
Jude didn't apologize for it.
"A little out of practice already? We were without for only a small while without weapons," he teased softly. HP: 42 DMG: 2

Eva couldn't help but grin, emitting a slightly sheepish sounding laugh. "Seems like it, huh? But the good thing is that I'm never one to give up!"
And then she gave him a friendly poke for one damage or something before moving to distance and prepare herself for his next attack.

"That's good. I would have kept refusing if you did seem like the type that would give up." he replied. Jude wouldn't have sparred with Eva if she hadn't been so adamant about it, and even then he would have refused if he was certain that she wouldn't take his treatment with her very well.
Jude returned the friendly poke...With a punching dagger.
"I almost feel like you're just playing with me," He observed. HP: 41 DMG: 2
