I think I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the biggest news of the year! (yes bigger then who the next president is) Lucasfilm now belongs to Disney (With George Lucas still co Chairman, but taking a back seat to his current team) and the often rumored and never thought possible third trilogy is now in production!
...With Episode VII due out in 2015!
Discuss, crow, scream, cry, big things are afoot!

This is wierd news to me actually. Lucas never had funding issues, at least none I perceived. However if this is all he needed to get the ball rolling on something he's let collect dust for the past decade or so: biggrin
*thinks* G.Lucas.. Funding issues? same sentence? can't happen. can it..? *checks if hell's frozen over* ..guess not.
They better not make him shape the death star like a shuriken

I doubt we'll get a third death star, but hey who knows. It wasn't as much a funding issue as a time and energy issue. Keep in mind Lucas is getting on in years, and as things stood if he died, Star Wars as a film franchise would simply end.
Instead he chose to pass it on to future generations. *applause* well done sir.

Well i guess it's a great thing to know that star wars is going to go on because of this pact so to speak and he won't need money for like ever so it's fine to sell it i just wonder if this is disney's scheme to rule the world it already has a small army of companies working with it i think it's up to something....

Oh god. This was the "better world" Disney was talking about! Global Domination through all entertainment franchises!
Seriously though, hopefully its all a good thing, though I can already see Star Wars "going back in the vault" pretty soon. rolleyes
*Update* The script writer (and self professed long time Star Wars fan) for Toy Story 3 and Little Miss Sunshine is working with Lucas and Lucasfilm to turn the 40 page story treatment of Episode 7 into a complete script!
