Yes, in honor of Halloween, and to get to know our mental asylum neighbors, I was curious what's your favorite monster/horror movies? For those that like those style movies, anyway.
Anyone who knows me well, knows that I am not a fan of modern slasher movies because I hate the whole gore shock factor in movies these days. They sacrifice a story for extra gore and violence. That's why I absolutely love the old black and white monster movies from Universal and RKO. Those, IMHO, are classics.
There is only a few "modern" monster/horror franchises that I like. They'll be in my top 10.
*****
My Top 10:
10) Dracula 9) Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein cool Predator and Predators (not Predator 2) 7) Terminator franchise (minus Terminator 3) 6) Halloween 1 and 2 (not the remakes) 5) Creature From the Black Lagoon 4) Aliens franchise 3) The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms 2) The Thing From Another World 1) King Kong - 1933
Another movie I always watch at this time of year but I don't know if I'd qualify it as a "Halloween" movie is "Nightmare Before Christmas".
So how's about you all?

I, on the other hand, adore slasher flicks. Admittedly, they can be a bit thin on story, but they're fun.
Oddly enough, I have the same kind of disdain for gorecore that some horror fans have for slashers. Whatever.
10) Jason X. 9) A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors cool An American Werewolf in London 7) Fright Night 6) Evil Dead/Evil Dead 2 5) Hellraiser/Hellraiser 2 4) Phantasm 3) Night of the Living Dead 2) Return of the Living Dead 1) Jason Goes to Hell
On a side note, The Rocky Horror Picture Show always seems to pop itself into my DVD player this time of year.
