History: Tanya lived the early part of her years at Kazvan Hold. When her mother became pregnant with her sixth child, however, 16-Turn-old Tanya realized that either her parents were going to have to marry her off or she was going to have to find work elsewhere. Their home was already crowded and they couldn't afford any idle hands. Tanya opted to find work and with her parents' tears and blessings she was sent to Malvren Weyr to assist in the kitchens and become one of the weyrfolk.

Although she missed home desperately, she gradually grew accustomed to thinking of Malvren as her home during her first Turn there. Unfortunately, fate isn't always kind, and that comfortable change was ripped from her with the wherhandler's revolution. Tanya, not being a fighter, fled from the initial attacks, but was pressed into service by some of the sturdier weyrfolk who had decided not to fight but to help others escape. With their guidance, Tanya managed to stiffen her backbone enough to help them get the children of the creche out of the way of the fighting. They were captured by wherhandlers who demanded their immediate oath of fealty or their exile from their home. Tanya wished to go back to her Hold, to her family, but there was no option for that: their choices were treason or Trine. They all chose Trine.

When they made it to the Southern continent a-dragonback, Tanya was just another young woman buffeted about in the aftermath of Trine's victory, lost as to where to go or what to do. She found the kitchens, still in disarray from the fighting, and was thankfully put to work. Rather than imposing on someone else, she slept on the floor in the ruins of the kitchen with several other refugees and was ready to work as soon as the Trine cooks arrived in the morning. She has been making herself useful where she can since coming to Trine, determined to keep the spirits of those around her up and not be some useless burden.

Description: Tanya is common Pernese to the core. Light skin and medium brown hair make her just another one in the masses, though her eyes are an odd shade of dark gray that only flirts with blue on occasion. She generally wears her hair cut to chin length or so, but when she can't get to a barber (as in the aftermath of the revolution) she tends to let it go as low as brushing the tops of her shoulders before she buckles down and finds some way to get it cut. She's approximately 5' 4" tall, just a little shorter than average. She is slender now, though judging from her mother (whom she takes after) she may not always stay that way, with more than a fair share of cleavage and slight hips. Face-wise her eyes are dark lashed, her nose is not necessarily small but is definitely pert, and her face is long (generally made less obvious by her short hair). Her almost over-full lips are almost always pulled into a smile.

Personality: Tanya is naturally more submissive than the average person. She isn't likely to take the initiave unless it's in her own daily business (obviously clothes have to be cleaned, meals need to be eaten and her living space has to be tidied), so she tends to look to others for guidance and instruction in work and play. In a group she is the follower, defering to the most dominant person, and when in a pair she goes along with whatever the other person wants and is happy to do it that way. Well, really, Tanya is happy with just about anything. She's overall a cheerful individual and if you need a smile or someone who doesn't ask anything of you then Tanya is the girl you should look to. The fact that she never demands anything of anyone is soothing in a way, and although her natural affinity for doing as she is asked has seen others abuse the privilege in the past, Tanya is still always willing to do just about anything for someone she likes as long as it doesn't seem out and out wrong. Naive and flighty are words that have been used to describe her before, but like most things, that kind of assessment just flows right over Tanya without leaving much of a lasting mark.

She is a determined little thing with the right provocation, though. Once a task is set to her that she knows needs to be done, she gets it done come hell or high water. Likewise, if she know someone needs help and someone can overcome her natural flight-over-fight response, she devotes herself to the action with single-minded purpose unless something scares her off-- or the person she's exerting all of that energy for asks her to stop. 'Over the top' can sometimes be a problem for her on many fronts, though it's never on purpose.

Tanya can be quite a chatterbox once she gets started. People speaking to her certainly won't lack for topics of conversation, but it also means you aren't likely to get much quiet while she's around. She tries to let other people speak as well, but often she forgets that perhaps she doesn't need to tell the other person every little thing she thinks on the topic at hand.
