Eva was still, admittedly, quite down about everything that had happened at the Haunted House. Bix and Ceres' deaths, the loss of everyone's weapons...they had taken quite a heavy blow that day, and though it would take a long time to recover...she was doing it. Gradually, but she was doing it.

The hardest part was getting used to the fact that Chara was here anymore, but after the first week, she eventually stopped expecting to hear her partner's voice in her head. This wasn't to say that she gave up on her weapon--no, that wasn't the case by any means--as she had faith that a way would be found to restore the weapons. They had to. For now, she would just have to see it as...Chara went on vacation.

Another morning, another question how she should spend her day. Whereas she would usually fill her afternoon with training with her weapon, that was obviously no longer an option, and so it was always a struggle for her to figure out what to do.

In the end, she settled with the (somewhat boring) decision to take a walk. Getting dressed, she tied her coat sleeves around her waist before stepping out into the hallway.

Taani was starting to learn. Not all the ins and outs of the facility, but enough to know that she should not read while walking down the hallway, because she neither got very far and more often than not inconvenienced someone or another.

That did not stop her from talking to Charles though. She was definitely better at walking and talking, but multitasking to actually paying attention to where she was walking to was still somewhat difficult for her.

"Really now?" she said, trying not to be too upset, and failing rather miserably. She had slipped into Hindi, which somehow did not seem to bother the sentinel, and it was nice to just relax back into her first language. They both knew how awful the practice had went, and the fact that he was sounding nice about it, and had not insulted her about it, had somewhat sealed the deal. At least, for some reason or another, the training are had been rather...non-busy. Possibly due to the performance issues that others were having with their weapons. "So how exactly would you describe a practice session where someone gets tangled up in their own weapon and has to unsummon it just so they can walk again?"

She was talking with her hands, large gesticulations as he fell silent, knowing that it probably meant that even he could not come up with even an off-handed compliment on this one. Despite rendering him speechless it was not exactly a feeling of triumph as sighing she looked up to see another woman in the hallway. Hopefully she had not seen too much of that little display.

Oh, she had seen that display of your, Taani.

She had seen all of it.

And she was smiling.

Frankly, it was nice to smile again when most of her time lately was spent in doom and gloom. This trainee, Eva noted, had not been on the mission with them, and that had been made especially clear considering the fact that she had been talking aloud in an empty hallway (which either pointed to insanity, or talking to one's weapon--she was guessing it was the latter).

Chuckling, the girl propped her hands up on her hips, offering the other trainee a friendly smile. "If it makes you feel any better, my weapon slipped from my grip while I was practicing alone, and I almost speared someone for that."

Ah yes, that had been quite the memory. She had accidentally flung Chara plenty of times, nearly taking out an eye about 50% of those times.

Clearing her throat--and shoving the thought of Chara away for now--Eva held out her hand. "Are you new here? I'm Eva Valente, from the Death division."

A smile. Well, then, she probably had noticed. Of course, there was always the possibility this could just be passed off as rehearsing lines or something, but the smile did not seem cruel. She stared at her for just a moment at the confession before a highly distracting voice murmured in the back of her mind.

She tried not to roll her eyes, and resolutely decided to simply ignore Charles for the time being. She pressed her hands together to great the other woman, belatedly noticing the hand. "Namaste," she said before reaching out to shake her hand. "Yes, I am new here. Taani Prakash, and I have been assigned to the Moon division. Have you been here long?"
