Jaryx was sitting on the border of the pride, staring out at the horizon. Out here, away from the center of the land was very quiet. Not that the members of the pride were very noisy; sometimes it was nice to get away to calm himself. As he stared out at the horizon, he had a brief recall of what it had been like out there; always on the hunt, on the run, never being safe. Here he was safe in the lands and had a place to belong. He had never felt more centered than after he had joined the pride and slowly learned the ways of the Force.

Chionesu had been wandering for some time, hunting when he felt like it, relaxing, and just thinking about life. Although his life may not have seemed very interesting to others, he was happy with it, contemplating and gaining knowledge through his travels. Rather than be a participant, he often liked to observe. He gained more information that way, when he had no biases against either party, it was interesting to watch and learn.

Today he was walking slowly, not quite paying attention to where he had ended up, but that was the usual for him. Ever since he was on his own he had been wandering...

As the cheetah slowed his breathing down to his normal meditation rhythm, he noticed something slowly approaching on the horizon. He sighed and tried to get a closer look to see what it was. He could faintly make out the outline of one of the species making their way closer. It didn't appear to be a lion and it appeared too big to be a cheetah. He tried to peer closer to see if it looked more like a canine instead of a feline. He stepped a little ways passed the border to get a closer look.

Chionesu breathed in deeply, smelling the newest aromas coming from the area. Every place he visited had them, and he wanted to learn all of them. He was one who would stop in the middle of nowhere, just to appreciate where he was. This was no exception. He continued on, almost at a feeling of balance. He wasn't quite sure, but it seemed to be coming from somewhere near here. Perhaps he was at the border of another pride? Usually he was a little wary of them, as some prides did not like outsiders, so he would stay around the borders, learning what he could, and then move on.

Jaryx watched as whatever it was grew closer. He had been right; it was another feline species. This one appeared to be a leopard; he could make out the bulk of the large cat and the spots on its white pelt. This stranger didn't feel threatening so the cheetah stepped out a little bit further, waiting to see if the leopard would approach him.

He had barely heard it, but the leopard could tell that there had been slight movement. Looking around where he thought he might have heard it, he saw another creature. It seemed to be a cheetah. If he hadn't had the experience already, Chionesu would have been on guard, but he coud tell that this cheetah meant no harm, and in fact seemed to be waiting for him to make the first move.

Continuing at the same pace, he finally got closer to the cheetah. "Hello, I'm Chionesu, I mean no harm. I was wondering if you could tell me where this was? It seems a bit different than the area I was last in." This is what he usually said to those he spotted within the lands. It seemed the best way to break in conversation.

Jaryx waited patiently as the leopard finally go close enough to speak to him. Before joining the pride, he would have been leery of encountering a leopard of his size, but now the cheetah was able to keep his composure at the bigger cat.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Chionesu, my name is Jaryx," he returned the greeting and gave a small, hopefully welcoming smile. "I'm glad you think so. You are almost near the land of the Mizani'Ulimwengu, or the land of the balanced world."

Chionesu nodded at the cheetah. "Balanced world? Sounds interesting. Do you mean of life or of certain particulars?" It was probably the former, but some places had "balanced" lifestyles in terms of other things, such as the amount of prey killed and being let to live, being serious versus letting your ambitions run wild... He almost chuckled.

Sitting in front of the smaller cat, he wanted to hear about this. It sounded intriguing to say the least. He had always tried himself to be in the middle, to not take sides if possible, only to learn...

"Why does it have to be one or the other?" Jaryx asked as he dug his claws lightly into the ground, stirring the dirt underneath them. "If there is one, shouldn't there be the other? If you live in a way of certain particulars, doesn't it become a life?" He hoped that he wasn't getting too philosophical with the leopard. Though it had been too tempting for him to pass up the opportunity to discuss it.

The cheetah relaxed a bit more and brought his tail in close to his body, his ears flicking as a fly flew by. "This is a place of balance and respect for all things. Where there is life, there must be death, where there is respect given, there must be respect returned," and the most important of all, "and where there is light, there must be dark." Even the Jedi had a dark side, he recalled, as he remembered the Sith.

Chionesu smiled. This was the kind of conversation that he liked. "Well, one would think, but sometimes it seems that balance manages to stay quite separated from other aspects of life. Though that may be because they don't follow it and therefore do not have balance within the rest of their life." It was only his experience, but he thought it strange too that they could be divided.

Chionesu listened to the cheetah's description of the lands. It sounded like a good place to him. He hmmed, in understanding. "Yes, if there is balance within of life as you said, there would have to be dark and light because one without the other would make it uneven." He looked to where the land started. "If it's possible, I would like to go in and see it for myself. I have been wandering for quite some time, trying to find a place that would be suitable, and this sounds like it could be it."

Jaryx gave a small smile at the leopard's response. So he hadn't gotten too philosophical; he was slightly glad that the leopard chose to continue the discussion. "This is true, though you have to consider if those really understand and respect the balance of the universe. If they truly understood, there would be no need to differentiate."

When Chionesu asked if it would be alright if he came onto the land, Jaryx nodded. "As long as you respect those on the land, I see no reason why you can't take a look." he replied, "After all, you can't choose a place that would be suitable if you don't know their beliefs and ways, could you?" he flashed the cheetah another small smile.

The leopard nodded his head. "That is true, you speak with a lot of experience." Thought the cheetah looked young, he was quite wise.

Chuckling a bit at the cheetah's other response he nodded his head. "I am honored, thank you. It would be a great trust for me to be allowed on your land. The beliefs here seem like something I might want to follow, but of course I'll have to see them first."

The cheetah gave him another smile and nodded, "I have a lot of experience being outside of the pride," he recalled, remembering his life before the pride, "and I have quite a bit of experience being inside the pride."

He returned the leopard's nod. "You are very welcome. It is understandable that you would prefer to observe first. I don't think there is anyone that joined that didn't want to learn more first before officially joining."

Chionesu smiled and bowed a bit toward him. "I am grateful. This does sound like a place that will be better for my feelings at least. Balance is an important part of my life and if there is anyway I could enhance or learn something new about it, it would be improvement." He got up, keeping his gaze at the cheetah. "If you could be so kind as to lead the way..."

"Well hopefully this place will be what you are looking for," Jaryx responded, returning the leopard's small bow. He slowly stood up and stretched out before turning to go back into the lands, "Just follow me." he replied and led Chioneus back into the lands of the Mizani'Ulimwengu.
