Her delusion had been shattered. There had been just too much talk going around Deus, too much for her to try and make believe that it hadn’t really happened. Before she really knew it, her boots were carrying her to the Hunter cemetery, and her eyes had been fearfully looking over all the markers. She still had clung to the desperate hope that two names wouldn’t be there.

But they were.

Seeing Ceres’ had been a stab, and seeing Bix’s had felt like someone pulled the ground out from beneath her feet.

She cried, of course. It was Molly, after all. She cried a lot. She stood there and buried her face in her hands and just sobbed for who knew how long in front of those markers. There was a lot she felt like she needed to say to the albino Hunter, to thank him for everything he had done for her, and she did. She talked to his marker, and it felt a bit good to get it off her chest. She told Ceres’ marker that she wished she could have gotten to know her, but that she thought she was a very lovely and nice young woman. She then left, but came back with her fiddle, where, once again, she spent a long time just playing that one song from the Lord of the Rings on her fiddle. The same one she had played for Bix after Valentine’s.

That had been earlier today.

Now, Molly stood in the open door way of Bix’s room. Her eyes were red, puffy, and glossy, and her cheeks red. There was a furrow of her brow as she stared at the Sun Hunter’s room, saddened, but with a resigned contemplative expression.

He had seen the letter, but that was both the first - and the last - time that Gale had been in Bix's room.

He had not yet been to the graveyard. The effort it had taken to just go to his best mate's room had sapped him completely of his strength and his resolve, and he could not bring himself to go. Visiting the graves meant that it was real, that it was final, that it was irreversible, irrevocable, and unchanging.

Visiting meant that he could not longer hold onto the illusion that one day Bix would come waltzing into his room, talking about comic books and how Gale was too serious and needed to get a lady with his accent.

He had already lost Leslie. And now he had lost Bix as well.

The hallway of the dorms was deserted as Gale stepped up into them. He didn't know what he was doing here. He didn't know why he had come back. Maybe he was looking for something, for someone, anyone to tell him that it was all a lie.

There was no one for him.

As he made his way further down the silent hallway, he caught an unexpected flash of red, of bright orange curls standing at a doorway a few feet away. Several steps closer, and Gale realized it was Molly.

He also realized what door she was standing at.

It was too late to turn back, and Gale felt his heart beat just a little faster, blinking rapidly.

"...Molly," he said, slowing to a stop.

Molly jumped lightly as her name as called, her head whipping around and sending her curls bouncing. Her eyes were wide until they settled on Gale, and a hand was pressed against her chest. “Gale…” She greeted softly in return, relaxing now. The young woman was silent for a moment. Usually she would have followed up her greeting with ‘how are you’ but that was obviously the wrong thing to ask right now. Even Molly knew that.

She offered the young Hunter a soft smile, and then turned her attention back to the interior of Bix’s room. “…They’ll…come in here eventually.” Molly started, murmuring. “…They’ll pack up all his things and…incinerate them.” Her lips wibbled, and Molly paused, taking a moment to try and will herself to not burst out into tears again. “That’s too sad…I can’t…I don’t want that to happen…it seems like such a…such a mean thing to do to Bix…so I…I think I want to save his belongings…”

He had startled her, and Gale felt awkward and uncertain and he wasn't sure whether or not he wanted to see her right now. Or anyone else, for that matter, considering that his heart was slowly crumbling into a thousand little pieces that were being crushed beneath the feet of their division leader.

But Molly was talking now, her voice low and nervous and she looked close to tears, her eyes shimmering. It took him a moment to understand what it was that she was talking about, piecing together the jumble of words stuttered out - and when he did, he felt as though the floor was caving in below him.

"You - " he said, and then stopped, swallowing hard, willing himself not to cry, not to let it get to him, to keep himself strong and unyielding to the emotions fighting inside of him.

"Are you...going in there, then...?"

Molly was silent for a long while, before she nodded her head a bit.

The young woman wiped at her eyes with her sleeve, and then looked back at Gale, offering him the best smile she could managed. “Yes. I am.” She replied. “Because I…strongly feel that Bix wouldn’t want all his cherished belongings to just be thrown away like trash. I couldn’t sleep okay at night if I let that happen.” Molly turned back to face the room, and took a deep breath.

She then took one step into the room…and then another, and another. The young woman paused once she stood in the middle…and then looked around again.

Easier said than done…but it would happen, eventually. In the bag that was hanging off of her shoulder, she had collapsed boxes, newspaper, and tape.

"W...wait," he started to say, but she had already opened the door and stepped inside before he could stop her. His hand was outstretched, as though to perhaps stop her - but he wasn't sure he would have, even if he could have.

Breathe. Just breathe.

Jinhai, where are you?

His heart beating faster than it should have, Gale closed his eyes briefly, then moved slowly into the room after Molly.

Nothing had changed since he'd last been here - since he'd seen the letter that Bix had written. It was still lying there, on top of the desk, and Gale swallowed hard, feeling his throat constrict.

It suddenly felt difficult to breathe.

"I, um..." said Gale, stumbling over the words. He moved closer to the desk, blocking the letter from view, his fingers gripping the wood so tightly that his knuckles were white, hands trembling.

"What are you going to do with them?"

She had caught Gale’s plea a little too late, and as she stood in Bix’s room, she turned her head towards the smaller hunter.

Molly made a soft questioning sound, waiting patiently for Gale to get out what he wanted to say. It was obvious none of this was easy for him…it was way too obvious. There was an air of desperation that seemed to come off of the Death Hunter, and Molly could only feed off of it to maintain her serene yet melancholy state. It was something she had developed from single handedly caring for her sister for so long. Patience, sympathy.

“…I don’t know yet…” Molly replied honestly. “…I think...” She shook her head. “No…I’m not certain. All I know, right now, is that I need to get his belongings out of his room…so that’s what I’m going to do...and I'll hold onto them...until I know.” Still, she made no move to set up any boxes yet.

He wanted Jinhai, he needed Jinhai, but he was not there, he was gone, and his thoughts were empty of the dragon's; a painful, hollow space where there should have been something warm and familiar.

He wasn't sure he could do this, but she was right. He did not want to have Bix's things tossed around like they did not matter, because they did. They mattered a great deal to the person who had once lived in this room, and that made them indispensable, irreplaceable.

It made them precious memories.

"I - " said Gale, but the words stuck in his throat, and for a few moments he could get nothing out, simply closing his mouth and staring at Molly, his eyes filled with a despair and hopelessness that could not be conveyed through words.

After a long moment, he closed his eyes, opened them, and said, in a slightly shaky voice,

"...the, um...action figures...I...I'd like them."

Molly placed her bag down where she stood, never taking her eyes off of Gale. Poor Gale. Molly never looked down at him like a kid…sure, he was young, but he was so mature and responsible that Molly never thought ill that he be a hunter…but right now...Right now Molly couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming urge to just hold onto him, because he was young, and because he looked so despairing and hopeless.

She left her bag, and made her way over to the Death Hunter, where she paused for a moment before tentatively wrapping her arms around his shoulders. “Of course, Gale.” She murmured.

Closing his eyes again, Gale took a deep breath, trying to calm himself as Molly's arms wrapped around him, her voice soft in his ear.

He hated this.

He hated Bix for leaving him behind, for leaving at all, for getting to be with the one he liked even if it wasn't in the way that he had planned it. But most of all, he hated that he, Gale, was still stuck here with no direction, no where to go but down, down, down.

He pulled away from Molly, turning around, busying himself with collecting the figurines on the shelf. His fingers were shaking as he took them gently down, setting them in front of him like a little display.

"Do you have a box I can borrow?"

Molly let go of Gale as he pulled away, and looked over and watched as he started to pull the figurines off the shelf. The way his fingers shook…it was sad. “…O…oh yes…of course.” She replied softly, and went to where she had dropped off her things. Molly constructed a large box for the Death hunter, and lined it with bubble wrap and newspaper. She then brought it over to him, and placed it nearby, along with a roll of bubble wrap. “There you are…” She murmured, and then went to make more boxes.

Seems like she’d take everything else…and Gale had the hard part, making sure the figurines were packed safely, as they were the most fragile of Bix’s belongings.
