Waasi snorted quietly as he got a noseful of dust. It was rather windy out today and, thanks to the lack of rain, the savanna was one big dust cloud. Every now and then a gust of wind would sent the flying sand particles right up his nose and he'd snort and huff for a few minutes while trying to clear it. This really wasn't the best way to find water, he decided after a while. He hated his demeaning jobs, and this was one of them. Sending the slaves out to find water during this time of the year was a joke. It was busy work, it was stupid, and he would refuse to do it if it didn't mean his untimely death.

He squinted through the dust as it began to settle, trying to spot some kind of life. A few trees, some birds, even a patch of grass would be welcome. That would put him in the right direction, at least. Once the wind settled to something manageable, Waasi let out a few quick yips to let the sentry know where he was. He had to do this every few minutes so the female in charge of this expedition could keep track of her charges. There were three other males searching for water in the three other directions.

"A fool's mission," he muttered to himself as he started to limp onward. His leg was bothering him again after all the walking he had done in the past few hours. Still, he knew better than to go back now with empty paws. He needed to keep walking for a few hours more if he wanted to go unpunished.
