Zia stumbled over a crack in the sidewalk and caught herself on a building, frowning at it like it could feel shame or something. It was dark. It was cold. She should've been where she was before the sun went down!

Except for her car breaking down, her phone being out of service, and needing to walk to where she was going forever late. She wished she'd actually bothered to hang around and call Pascal on a land line or something. Amongst all her personal complaints, she was starting to be afraid he would think she was standing him up.

She groaned and brushed off her boots, one of which now had fresh scuff marks on the side, and rubbed her freezing arms as she glanced around, trying to remember directions to Pascal's place.

All of this, while being completely oblivious to the stumbling, skeletal looking youma in the near vicinity. Maybe if she was powered up she would've sensed it, but as a civilian, she didn't even notice until the pitiful looking monster clawed at the sidewalk just behind her.

Zia jumped back out of shock, and then a few more steps just for safe measure. It looked disgusting, especially when it gasped out what she was sure was a word. Brains, maybe? Either way it was creepy as all hell, but the only words she had for it was "Go away, I'm not in the mood." She debated if it would be quicker dispatched with a rock to the head or a cat laser.

Pascal had long since left his apartment to search for Zia. She was supposed to be at his place, and given her ability to drive he was certain that either A: she should have arrived five minutes before she said she'd be there or B: the car crashed into something that popped out unexpectedly. He wouldn't have been surprised if that had happened and that worried the young man. Zia was becoming a favoured companion of Pascal and her lack of arrival had left him with only one choice: he left his apartment in search of her.

"Brrrr," the young man shivered, looking around outside his apartment first before continuing down the road. It was so cold, he hated to think that Zia was out here. It was a little depressing but the first thing Pascal was looking for was a crashed car, Zia's crashed car to be specific. He didn't see it anywhere though and that was both relieving and worrisome at the same time. It was possible that maybe she was just standing him up but that thought didn't cross his mind. Zia didn't seem the type to simply not show up so it left him to his worries.

His search brought him down the road until inevitably he stumbled upon a rather frightening sight: a youma and Zia. He froze in his tracks, a fear befalling the young man. Not just fear for Zia but also fear for himself. The Surrounding had left him cautious and traumatized. He couldn't just stand there, could he? His fear that something terrible might have happened to Zia and his search had all led him here and that's exactly what was happening. He obviously wanted to help her but what could he do? He couldn't do anything. He remembered what those monster did, and he did not like the reality of the situation.

Given the circumstances, Pascal had several choices here:

A. Turn around and walk away.
B. Turn around and run away.
C. Be eaten by that monster along side Zia.
D. Power up into the one thing he hates to save Zia.

Pascal had actively avoided any sort of paranormal related activity for a year now but even all the logic in his head couldn't prevent him from forgoing everything he had striven to avoid to be Zia's hero. It could be just like those superhero movies, or something. She had been on her way to his place prior to this so it wasn't that much of a stretch of imagination to assume, was it? Either way, before Pascal even knew it he had powered up into the very thing he hated.

Sailor Orpheus, Dark Mirror Senshi of Charm stood in the distance. It was where he spent a moment to feel disgusted with himself. The sunglasses were pointless at night but he didn't want to risk Zia recognizing him so he kept them on. Surprisingly enough, he actually didn't have any trouble seeing through them. A deep breath and a look behind his shoulder to see what he was leaving behind Orpheus stepped rushed forward to what he wouldn't leave behind: Zia. Once he was close enough to the youma Orpheus drop kicked the beast, sending it falling backwards.

Chaos versus chaos, Orpheus flashed Zia a charming smile on the outside as he felt so dirty on the inside. It was all for Zia though, and without noticing any horror on her face he shifted his attention back to the youma rather quickly. It was horrifying, terrible, frightening and disgusting all in one. He worried it was going to trample all over him just like they had in the Surrounding but when Zia's safety was in question he found himself remembering all those senshi never seem to have problems. Much to his disgust, he was was Sailor Orpheus right now.

The youma almost seemed confused as it crawled back to Orpheus with a strange noise. It's empty eyes on the senshi, Orpheus met its eyes with his own. A charming look promptly cast a spell on the youma, causing it to stop its advance. It seemed weary, sort of suspicious, but not filled with the same hatred it seemed to have before. Not exactly friendly, but it didn't seem as willing to tear it to shreds as it had prior. It left Orpheus with an opening, allowing him to pummel the youma with a series of blows from his kickboxing training.

The youma hadn't been very strong as just a skeleton and it didn't take long before it fell to dust, leaving a confused look on Orpheus' face as he tried to understand the logic of it. He had killed it and it turned to dust, sort of strange, but then again what about this situation wasn't? Defeated, Orpheus could finally take a minute of realization to understand just how fast his heart was beating in his chest. He had been trained since he had been shipped off to boarding school but he had never had to use it before.

"Are you okay?" He questioned, quite concerned about Zia's safety. He had gotten here but had it hurt her before he did?

Zia was shocked to see the arrival of a senshi, and her stomach twisted in knots when she didn't recognize which senshi. It was sort of an epiphany. Negaverse senshi? Enemy. DMC senshi? Definitely enemy. White Moon? Maybe 50/50 enemy or ally.

It kind of sucked being an island in a war zone.

She watched as a bystander, holding her arms from the cold and frozen in half in shock as he dispatched the thing. It gave her hope he would be an ally, but, when he turned to ask her about her safety she felt her stomach drop and her heartbeat go a mile a minute.

She had done her best to avoid the DMC. She didn't know how she'd handle being face to face with one and now he was here, in front of her. She, he saved her and all, but that didn't change the fact he was one of them. A toy of Ares, and an abomination by nature.

Emotions clogged, and for a second she looked like she was going to cry. But when it came down to it, she didn't cry, or run, or thank him. She frowned and punched him square in the nose.

"Who the ******** do you think you are?" She snapped. "Go away!"

Orpheus may not exactly have been expecting a kiss like in all those superhero films but a punch in the face had been light years away. He shot back immediately, his gloved hand flying to his face protectively. What had just happened? Orpheus' eyes were wide and confused, like a deer in the headlights of a monster truck speeding down a roller-coaster. He had just saved her and she punched him in the face!

"W...what?" He said through his gloved hand, taking a step toward her with his other hand outreached in a very friendly manner.

"I'm not going to hurt you!"

Zia recoiled from his hand and took a step back to match his forward one, visibly showing the fear now. Why was he being nice? Was he sent for her? Did he have any idea who he was messing with? She didn't have answers, but maybe Zirconia did. If Zirconia would wake up.

She was practically screaming inside her skull for the assistance the older soul could offer, and none came. In fact she could've sworn she got quieter.

Zia glanced over her shoulder with a quiet whimper as if she was expecting rescue from her rescuer and then looked at his hand, shaking her head rapidly. "No, just go away," She said, trying her best to sound threatening after she'd gone and let her anxiety slip. Her arms had been folded after her sucker punch, but she still made the threat, "I'll hit you again."

Her options were flitting through her brain. He looked like a basic senshi, so their powered forms were probably matched for strength. But he had magic where she had one energy blast, and that wouldn't be enough to kill him for seeing her identity.

Yeah, killing him was a considered option, only rejected because she didn't have a means to. She was cornered, in a human versus senshi conflict and no amount of assurance was going to fix that. He wasn't just an enemy, he was the personification of everything broken and dead, and two years worth of tragedy, and it was all she could do not to break down in front of him.

"I... just... just go away!"

Orpheus did not understand anything. He didn't understand why she hated him so much when not only had they just met but he had just saved her! She didn't recognize him as Pascal and it was leaving him with some conflicting feelings. She liked him, he knew she did but now she hated him or rather she hated what she seen as Orpheus. Ares' slave, or so she thought. If only he knew, if only he could tell her the truth: that he hated Ares for doing this to him.

His hand pulled back, his eyes looking through his sunglasses with a hint of sorrow, his face turning into a definite frown. There was no charming smile, no proud accomplishment or happiness. The utter disgust of the reality: he hated himself and now Zia did too.

"Why? I don't understand."

"Why?" Zia sounded blank at first. The why was usually so obvious, and she had to restrain herself to keep her identity secret. Though it wasn't hard when you were thinking being killed on the spot was an option if this guy found out who her alter ego was.

"Why?!" Her voice rose as the rage and grief bubbled up and she gripped her arms tighter as if that'd shield her. "Um, I don't know, maybe because your 'queen', source of all your power and unquestioned ruler killed people I loved? Destroyed the only home I had and ruined my ******** life?" Her throat burned from the cold air, which wasn't helping her attempt to bite back tears and keep her voice steady. It still faltered in spite of her efforts.

"I broke myself for her and she paid me back by killing every good thing I had left! You... yo- you can't understand. There's no way you know how much you just--..." She tried to catch her breath and her grasp on the English language, but ended up grabbing the sides of her head and looking down like she could will him away and hide her tears, "Please, just go away."

If he had expected anything from her in response to his question, it certainly wasn't what he got. It left the dark mirror senshi even more confused than he had began. He couldn't help but wonder what had happened to Zia, and just how she seemed to know so much. Not that he had much to compare to considering he knew very little about the court he pretended didn't exist but she seemed to know quite a bit. He knew senshi were bad people but for them to ruin her life to this extent? He felt really shitty but when she looked as if she was about to cry, that was the breaking point.

"What Queen? I serve no one but myself," he confessed. It would have been simple to just tell him how Ares had ruined his life but Zia looked like she was about to cry and he already felt bad enough. It felt like his presence here as Orpheus was going to do more harm than good, no matter what he said. It was in his and her best interest to simply get away and come back as someone she thought was friendly. He'd come back as himself, try and push the disgust away. It would be hard not to think about it for awhile, think about the idea that deep down inside he was the very thing both he and Zia hated so much.

"I apologize for the inconvenience..." he admitted, turning his back to the woman he was so fond of. It was then that he ran away as fast as he could, powering down the second he got out of her view. Back against a wall, Pascal found himself with his hand over his nose and his heart shaken. Zia was all right, that's what was important right?

Zia didn't look up from her boots until she was absolutely certain he was gone. And when she did, it was like coming up for air after drowning in an ocean. It was a huge gasp for air, and sudden free flowing tears. A manic half laugh, half sob from the ridiculousness of the encounter rang out from her chest and she ended up flopping back against that wall she caught herself on earlier, trying to calm a burst of hyperventilation.

"Oh god," She whispered and sniffled and choked trying to get a grip. Nothing like facing your worst traumas and possible death on a cold autumn night, right?

Serving no queen confused her. Of course he did, how else could he be what he was? Everything was muddled and didn't make sense, but while wiping away her tears she felt vulnerable and exposed in a way she hadn't even when there were starseed eating monsters on the prowl.

She didn't want to be alone, she didn't want to feel like a terminal patient waiting for Ares to find her, and she didn't want to cry in the cold any more. She stood up and glanced around before taking off towards the only nearby place she thought would offer some sanctuary.
