What to do, what to do? Troubled Waters meandered around the marsh, the sun setting behind her. I should go to the meadows she thought distantly, her teal hooves swishing through the grass and her golden companion hopping close behind her. She had come upon the meadow just in time to see the first few fireflies fluttering lazily from the bushes and trees and flicker to life. She stood transfixed as they performed their swirling, golden dance as the sun crept lower under the blue velvety blanket of night. She shivered as a light breeze ruffled her coat, wrapping her tail around her. The warm glow of the firefly's light reflected in her eyes as they slowly adjusted to the star-speckled darkness.

It had been a short while since Dream's Desires had wandered away from the Glade in which he lived with three other kin. He had left behind his foxbun for the time being, as it would only likely pester him about wanting food or clean water to wash in, and he wanted simply to be alone. It was nearly night, after all, and he had found a wonderful little meadow where he could relax, alone, unpestered, able to let down his guard at least a little bit.
With that hope in mind, the large buck narrowed his glowing red eyes, and carefully placed each massive hoof where he knew it would make next to no noise, glancing over his back on occasion, to ensure the others did not follow. His foxbun was slumbering peaceably on their moss bed, and the others were busy feeding fish, tending gardens, and tidying up the area to notice the male vanish. From that moment on, the night was his, his to do with as he pleased...

Troubled Waters let her thoughts drift feely, like the fireflies on the night breeze. Her teal ears twitched as they took in the pleasant sounds of all of the night critters, weaving a lovely light lullaby. The doe swayed involuntarily as all of the sounds and dancing lights filled her head. Her frog, Glint, had hopped several feet infront of Troube, his emerald eyes following that of the dancing balls of light when suddenly- -SPLAT- Glint had flicked his long tongue and managed to catch a firefly. This broke Trouble's trance, and when she had spotted what had made the noise, she couldn't help but giggle. From inside of the golden frog, the firefly was flashing wildly, lighting up her little amphibious friend like the full moon above. Glint gave a disgruntled croak and hopped farther into the meadow where more fireflies had gathered. Trouble followed him gracefully, her long, willowy legs swishing through the high grass. Her ruby eyes followed the beautiful dancing lights as she got lost in the dance of the fireflies.

Dream's Desires had always loved to watch fireflies secretly. They had fascinated him as a foal- after all, they glowed as his own eyes did, and he had always been curious about that little trait. He had done as most foals did, and caught more than his fair share of them in his mouth, giggling and then spitting them out, unharmed. He hadn't noticed the slightly luminous golden frog hopping towards him until it was a mere five feet from him, and then he swung his horned head about, snorting in bemusement. Frogs had entertained him, too, as a foal. There were some that puffed up when frightened, and he'd delighted in stomping just in front of them, to make them do just that. He rose quietly, and then snuck closer to the frog, intending to do just that, until he caught a glimpse of a doe.
How he had missed such a brightly-colored doe in the darkness, Dream did not know, but now that he'd seen her, he felt a hint... embarrassed. He was the hunter for his group. He was supposed to notice even the tiniest changes in his surroundings... but he hadn't noticed the vibrantly-patterned teal and gold doe who probably thought he was some immature young buck. He coughed softly to himself, and then looked to her quietly, and nodded his head. "Hello... this your frog?" he asked quietly.

Troubled Waters stopped moving when she saw a pair of deep crimson glowing eyes. She watched them loom closer, but soon realized that they were trained on Glint, and not her. She was surprised that she didn't hear him approaching them. She marveled at how silent he was despite his size. Trouble observed him creep closer to her frog, and was startled when he had broken the silence. "Frog?" She said mistily, her eyes traveling from the buck to the golden frog. "Oh! Yes, Glint is my companion." She murmured fondly, taking a step closer to the green-eyed amphibian. "He likes to wander with me. He is a very good listener, too." Troubled smiled happily, and giggled when Glint puffed out his throat, the firefly winking on and off inside him. "I'm Troubled Waters." She greeted, bowing her head politely.

"Ah... My name is Dream's Desires... I have a foxbun, myself..." Dream murmured softly, and moved closer, to nudge the frog with his forehoof gently. "Have you ever seen a frog that swells up when frightened? They are... quite amusing, actually..." he murmured, feeling awkward and off-balance... vulnerable.

Trouble smiled warmly at Dream's Desire, lifting her head high. "Foxbuns," she repeated fondly, "are my favorite." She said, by spoke up again when Glint ribbited grumpily. "Next to frogs, of course." She tilted her head, watching him move closer to her frog. "Glint was the first frog I've ever come across, and I haven't seen many since. And when I have stumbled upon another frog, I like to watch them." She explained. "But that does sound amusing." She added, smiling shyly up at the buck.

"It is..." Dream grinned broadly, a lop-sided, unused thing that looked somewhat comical on such a buck. He blinked, and then let it drop away, peeking around quietly, and then looked back at her, at a loss for words for the moment. He coughed, and then looked at the grumpy frog... maybe if he brought out Descent, the two of them could play, and maybe Trouble would like that, as well. Normally, he wouldn't care one lick, but the moon was just right, and she'd caught him in a friendly mood. His herdmates might think him ill, to see him like this, he thought.

Trouble caught Dream's grin and smiled amusedly back at him. She could tell by how awkward his smile was and how after a few seconds he let it go and glanced around sheepishly, that he wasn't the smiling type. The fact that he was trying, though, warmed her heart. "Do you think Glint would puff up if we scared him?" She asked mistily, moving her eyes from Dream to Glint. She decided she would try and get her frog to swell up. It was an instinct of theirs after all, right? Trouble slowly drifted several feet behind the frog and silently snuck up behind it. Without alerting it of her presence, she leaned as close to it as she could, and under the drifting fireflies, shouted, "BOO!" All of the fireflies within five feet scattered away from the teal and gold doe. The frog hadn't moved an inch. She straightened up disappointedly as glint croaked in a very disapproving tone. Remembering she was in the presence of another, Trouble slowly turned her head so one red eye was looking at Dream. Her ears flicked embarrassedly, and she bit her lip. "I guess I'm not scary enough..." She mumbled sheepishly.

Dream felt something like amusement at her not-quite-scary-enough plight, and then closed his eyes, and snuck up on Glint himself... and let out a quiet hiss, like a large swamp snake, one that might eat such a frog. That usually scared the hells out of the tougher frogs. He straightened to observe his handiwork, grinning at her, and then added, "Would you like for me to fetch my foxbun? Descent and your Glint would make an interesting pair, I think..."

Trouble watched intently as Dream worked his magic. She wasn't quite sure what he was going to do until she heard a low hissing noise that made her coat stand on end. Glint swelled just like he said and hopped frantically away from the black-and-red-horned buck. "Impressive." She admitted, her eyes drifting back to Dream's. "I would love to meet your little foxbun. I'll see if I can go calm Glint down..." She said, watching a bouncing ball of golden light reach the edges of the meadow.

Smiling at the doe, he nodded at her, before heading out to fetch his lovely little foxbun. He returned with his companion, who hopped off his back, and stood up on his hind legs, peering about. "This is Descent..."
Delicate Rose Bud I'm really sorry I forgot about this rp.
