I think mine was not saying sorry to a friend I rarely see.

When I was 12, my older sister Jenn wanted me to go to the park with her but I was on the phone with my best friend from school and didn't want to go. I got a little annoyed with her about it. The next day we were all about to eat dinner and Jenn usually got home about 30 minutes before dinner. We sat down to eat and my mom came in and said "Jenn's still not home yet?" She hadn't called so we didn't know where she was. We heard a helicopter overhead (which is a little weird in my hometown,) and about 20 minutes later the phone rang and my grandma answered. She was talking to someone about an accident. When she hung up the phone and turned round we were all staring at her waiting for her to tell us what was going on and she said that Jenn had been in a severe car accident, and they had to fly her to the hospital. We immediately jumped in the car and sped to the city. She had been run off the side of a road by a logging truck. The hill was so steep if she were to hit the brakes she would've flipped. Her car ended up wrapped around a pole.. They said she survived, but only just barely. They said I was too young and wasn't allowed to go in and see her.. Jenn spent 11 days in the hospital when they noticed she was starting to bloat. Apparently they didn't catch a tear in her small intestine when identifying all her injuries.. She had about 24 hours left before it would kill her. They finally let me in to see her, but they told me she couldn't hear me.. My heart broke when I saw her. She looked so broken and helpless. I held her warm hand for the few minutes I was allowed in the room with her. I talked to her about basketball tryouts at school. And just about anything I could think of to say. I told her I loved her and kissed her cheek as gently as I could before I left the room. Not even 5 minutes later she left this world.
I should have hung up that stupid phone and went to the park with her.
