General Information
The large stone cavern with the tiled floor and large yellow smiley face is likely familiar to at least several trainees, and may even feature in a few nightmares from time to time. Welcome to Deathsweeper, the training course that may only be attempted via c-type golem, and often acts as a testing ground for the Life Division's more painful creations. Stealth and detecting imminent danger are vital for Death Hunters and anyone who has to spend extended amounts of time near Caelius. The Deathsweeper chamber is full of hidden traps that only the finest of survival instincts can survive unscathed.

If you fail: you get to once again relive the sensation of dying. Painfully and sometimes quite strangely.

If you win: you have survived stepping 5 tiles into the room. Anything further is purely for peen and bragging rights.

    Mechanics
  • roll 1 d10
  • check for hp loss and death
  • decide whether or not to use your bonuses
  • if you survive, repeat.
  • roll list: the traps are ICly constantly changing, so feel free to get creative as to what exactly those traps are!
  • -50% HP is off your full HP, so if you hit -50% twice, then you are 100% KO'd

    01. horrible death
    02. - 50% HP
    03. live
    04. live
    05. - 50% HP
    06. - 50% HP
    07. horrible death
    08. - 50% HP
    09. live
    10. horrible death

    Bonus Mechanics
  • This bonus is consumable.
  • All participants get a flag, this flag will allow your character to notice something about the area they're stepping into. OOCly this means you can adjust your rolled number, up or down, by one point. Instinctive moves are used in the same manner as flags. These are stackable, so if you have 1 flag + 1 instinctive move, you can use them up in order to adjust your roll by two.

(If you roll a 1, you may not move your number down to 0, -1, or 10. And 10 cannot be adjusted to 1 or 11.)

  • Trainees: 1 flag
  • Death Trainees: 1 flag + 1 instinctive move
  • Hunters: 1 flag + 1 instinctive move
  • Death Hunters: 1 flag + 2 instinctive moves

((Bumping that 5 up to a 4))

Candace had not missed this course. She hadn't missed this golem either. It was big, clunky, heavy and annoying. But it was the golem she had to use to do this stupid course, and she really needed to get it done. What else could she do? She'd done her duties for the day, she'd been reading up on anything she possibly could and now she was feeling restless. No Mist tower or Shadow Run for her though, not until she had Atropos back. The tablet was kept in her pocket at all times, she even brought it to bed with her; it had originally slept on the pillow beside her but the smoke it produced forced her to do the smart thing and move it to her bedside table.

It would be weird doing this course without a voice in her head. She stepped up to the first tile, glaring at it with the intensity of a thousand angry bears. Today was the day. She would beat this damn course.

First things first, she took out her flag and dropped it on the tile in front of her. Couldn't start off with a mistake. And good idea! The tile closed with a snap like a bear trap. With a confident little hum she stepped out onto the tile beside it, finding it to be perfectly safe. Good, good. Not a bad start.

((Bump that 5 to a 4...again))

The next tile didn't prove so lucky. She stepped on it, heard a click and bolted to the next tile just in time for the one she had previously been on exploded.

God, how did people survive this before golems?

This was how it worked. She did three steps, sometimes flawlessly, and then she ******** up on the last two steps. Hell, sometimes it was the last step that Candace failed on. It wasn't fair. Why couldn't she do one stupid step? It was such a tease, getting her to the end only to cut her short and deny her the finish she so desired.

...That sounded kind of familiar.

The third step was fine. Nothing happened. No clicks, no ticks, no sudden explosions or spikes. This wasn't so bad. It gave Candace hope!

((It doesn't matter what I change it to she loses half her health anyway))

The next step she didn't get so lucky. She heard the click again and dove for the next tile in an attempt to avoid it. A flaming arrow still got her in the knee anyway.

Candace limped onto the next step and just collapsed on it. Any second now it would kill her.

Aaaaany minute now..

....Wait a second..

"I..I did it?" She waited a few seconds more. Nothing happened. "I did it! I ******** DID IT! AHAHA!" She stood and jumped up and down, doing as good a victory dance as this bulky golem could manage.

Apparently someone didn't like her saying that. She was done with the course, what did they care now? She didn't need this golem anymore...and so her golem's head exploded.

Son of a b***h.
