Jacin was a little on the roughed up side, having taken as many punches as he'd given when it came to that little pain in the a** Shield Boy that he'd had the run in with. There was something that he would rather not do again, that be getting into a fist fight with a slab of muscle. If nothing else at least there was plenty of ice in Zena that could be used to ease his wounds, something that he had been appreciative of to say the least. With a tightly packed ball of snow in one hand, pressed against his jaw where it was aching the worst, "Ugh, that was something I hope I don't get side tracked with again." He muttered to himself. He still had to find Keilana he thought to himself, making a bit of a face. It was important that he get to her, talk to her, and get everything planned out that would happen between here and Tale... and he really hoped that included her coming with them. He didn't want to leave Kei alone in Zena, worried more for the Ice Tribe then he was for his sweet little sister, certain that she would beat them all into submission with her hammer...

"Where are you my Little Kei!" He called out when he got closer to where their tribe was camped out, giving a little wince as he did as it caused his split lip to twinge before it started to bleed again, just a little but enough to annoy him. Making a face he set to licking at his lower lip a little, trying to stop the bleeding, finding it more then a little annoying. He only hoped that the blows he'd gotten in were as good as what he'd gotten, annoying, shield wielding little a** deserved ever punch and then some for what he'd said and threatened to do! How he wished he could have gotten a few more licks in... giving a shake of his head he tried to push the thought aside and returned his attention to looking for his sister. The sooner he talk to her the sooner they could prepare to leave, the sooner they left the sooner he would never have to see Takoda's little hanger on again. Making a face he continued the search, tossing aside the melted snow so that he could fetch himself some more. It was after all the one upside to Zena, not that he fought nearly enough to stick around for such a simplistic reason.

Keilana had been preparing dinner, grumbling and growling to herself since she hadn't seen or heard from her brother ..for a couple of days. Okay well..that was an exaggeration she had seen him just not for very long and ...she wasn't exactly use to being ignored by him. Grumbling she huddled in her cloak as she tried to encourage the fire to grow higher. If she could get some good coals going then she could roast the meat that had frozen...in the snow...

That hadn't been a smart move.

There were many benefits to using the snow, food for example kept for a long time. Disadvantage...it was frozen solid. And trying to cook it from a frozen state often meant the outside being charred and the inside still raw. Keilana had learned through trial and error to cook the meat you had to either cook it slowly or...let it thaw then cook it. Thus far...she'd tried the semi thawed version and it seemed to have turned out a lot better than she had hoped.

Now she was making a gruel/soup of sorts, since you couldn't just eat meat here...and finding fresh vegetables was rare. So most of what she could get or trade for was...root types...that apparently did stew well and a few sprigs of some dried plant that would help make it taste better. The pot was being borrowed, from a nice ice tribe woman who ...sympathized with her predicament of trying to 'roast meat' in an outdoor shelter.

Had Keilana mentioned she was VERY tired of the ice and cold? She would eagerly trade for her dry Tale...any day.

With the pot on the fire she poked the coals and scooped snow into it letting it melt to become the base before she stuck the sprigs of ...whatever herb it was into the pot and began to cut up vegetables and plunking those into the pot when she was done. Now it was time for the meat.

Spotting the unhappy cloaked figured near the fire he gave a bit of a smile, so there she was he thought to himself, glancing at the food she was working on, and a part of him couldn't help but to worry and wonder what it was that she was working on. It couldn't be any worse then her first attempts of cooking in this land he thought to himself, debating on coming back later, but deciding that maybe it was a good idea that he talk to her now. He didn't want to wait too long, not with that shield wielding pain in the backside waiting to swoop in and steal Takoda from him. That was just not something that he was going to allow to happen he thought to himself, making a bit of a face as he hurried over to where he was, plopping down across the fire from her, looking her over then said, "Keilana... we have to talk." He told her, attempting to muster up a serious sort of voice.

Allowing himself to soak up the warmth of the fire, shifting in place a bit he said, "Ahh... so I was thinking that it would be nice to head back to Tale, I don't know about you but I am starting to miss home." He told her, figuring that it was the best place to start, to tell her that he wanted to head back, then he would bring in the idea of company that would be joining them on the trip back... and then staying with them once they got there. Of course then he would need to tell her that he had finally found someone that he had feelings for and that the person he had feelings for was a guy... and one that she seemed to have a bit of a past with. It was all rather complicated, wasn't it? Especially adding in that the guy had a bodyguard that wanted to steal him away before they got anywhere close to Tale. When he thought about it how was he supposed to explain it all to her? He wasn't really all that sure...

"I was wondering, are you coming back with me? I don't really want to be so cruel as to leave the Ice Tribe all alone with you with nobody to protect them from your temper." He said in a teasing manner.

Keilana had half a mind to give her brother the silent treatment as she continued to peel root vegetables to plop them into pot that was beginning to simmer. Of course when she looked up and saw just how beaten up her brother was she dropped her knife at her feet and was nearly up and moving over to him. Instead she forced herself to sit back down, calmly pick up her knife and go back to peeling.

Cutting her thumb on the blade when he announced that he was thinking of going home. Looking as the blood welled up in the small cut she stuck her thumb into her mouth and gave him a look. A look that was suspicious of what her brother was up to.

".....Of..course I am coming back with you...you wouldn't survive the trip home without me to protect your back." She commented finally removing her thumb from her mouth, though there was little humor in her tone. "...I am getting tired of being cold anyway."

There was a moment as she sat putting the vegetables into the pot before she moved onto the meat.
"What happened to you anyway? Looks like you got into a fist fight."

Jacin watched his sister as she fumbled with her knife, giving herself a bit of a cut, and he gave her a somewhat worried look, "You alright?" He asked of her as she set about sucking on her thumb to ease the bleeding, a method he'd used before in the past since it worked when there was nothing else around that could be used to ease the bleeding. When she was done tending to her little wound she commented on how he wouldn't survive the trip home without her there and he gave a little chuckle and a nod, "Most likely not, I agree. I am glad to hear that you are going to come home. I was a little worried that you would want to keep exploring perhaps." He murmured, now that she had a rank he couldn't exactly order her about because 'he was older' anymore. Instead, being ranked, she had as much sway as he did, a frightening thought.

Leaning over to look into the pot, curious what all was in there so far, he said, "Yeah, you guessed it. Some idiot thinking that he could come up to me and tell me to leave someone alone, the idiot. He deserved every bruise he got and then some." He would have loved to have gotten in a few more blows but he figured it was best that they ended it where they had, instead of getting caught or causing an incident. They got their blows in, though it really hadn't solved much of anything since the Shifter was still likely to get in the way of him taking Takoda back to Tale and Jacin meant to fight just as hard to keep the Healer at his side. He'd won, damn it. Takoda was his, the Shield Boy had missed his chance which was likely better then the odds that Jacin had given that he wasn't born a Shifter like Shield Boy was. Regardless he knew that it wasn't the end of the battle, not by a long shot. Not to mention that he still had to figure out how to tell Kei that they would have another person traveling home with them... still, surely even she would have to admit that Takoda would be a helpful person to have along. Even as he thought that he knew that it was wrong, Keilana would argue that the son rose in the West if someone annoyed her enough, she was just hard headed like that...

Explore? True she found it all interesting, but the cold was enough. Good to visit not to stay indefinitely. "I don't want to stay in this frostbitten place another minute. We could leave in the morning. In fact why don't we?" She suggested warming up to her brother as she plopped more meat into the stew. Seeing his expression she gave a small snort,
"Don't worry this is eatable. An elder in the village told me this was a foll proof way to cook food out here. She even threw in the herbs for free." She explained as they both seemed to live life through their stomachs being full.

Finishing up she wiped the blade in the snow and tucked it away, raising an eyebrow at his comment. "Leave...someone alone? Who are you pestering besides me Jacinthus?" She inquired and by using her brothers full name meant she wanted answers..not beating around the bush types. "And I doubt Enki would be thrilled your picking fights with other tribe's members...arn't we suppose to be on some sort of peace keeping mission or something?" She commented as she finally rose to move to her brother's side. Pushing him away from the pot so she could get a better look at his wounds. Lord...someone really was irritated with him.

Sighing she knelt down and took some snow and began to rub it on his cuts. "Don't whine. I don't have any melted water to clean you off." Kei warned.

When his sister said that she didn't want to stay another minute and that they could leave in the morning he shook his head, "We will leave the day after tomorrow, it will give time for us to pack up, say our goodbyes, and get ready for the journey back to Tale." He said, it was also when he and Takoda had agreed to meet again. While he would much rather just go and find the Healer and say that they were leaving in the morning he wasn't sure if he would be alright with that... he doubted telling him that they had to leave straight away to escape from Takoda's idiot friend would go over well. They had to wait a bit longer, just until Takoda was ready and then the three of them would book it as far from the Shield Boy as possible.

When his sister asked who he was pestering other then him he shifted in place for a moment, seeming to think on it for a moment, trying to figure out his words, "I... it would seem that... ahh... myself and that Shield Boy... we both ended up with... feelings for the same person." He said, his ears twitching, cheeks coloring darkly as he admitted to such a thing to his sister. They had actually been talking about such a thing not too long ago in Sauti, her asking if there was someone he liked, trying to figure out who he might like, at the time he hadn't really thought about Takoda in that way and hadn't really connected his feelings from that first meeting and the way that he was always thinking about him, wanting to see him again, not until he had actually seen him again... it was then that it clicked. Giving a grumble he continued, "I was coming to talk to you about it when the b*****d confronted me, told me that I couldn't bring Takoda back with us to Tale, and that I should just get lost... such a b*****d... not my fault he was stuck in friend zone." He muttered, looking over much as though he were wanting to go find Chal again just to get a few more swings in... instead he watched as his sister came over toward him.

"Eh?" He gave a bit of a wince as she helped to rub the snow against his wound, "Ow... yeah, I have been using the snow for that too... well and for all the bruises. That seems to be its only use other then trying to freeze people to death." He muttered, more then eager to head home, would be happy to go in the morning, if not for Takoda asking for a bit more time to get ready.

Keilana sighed , she would much rather of left right this instant, okay maybe after dinner it was beginning to smell really good or at least more appetizing than anything else she had made recently. Of course she wasn't entirely sure WHY they needed to wait. Perhaps Jacinthus wanted to say goodbye to people? Keilana would of if anyone had stuck around, she was rather strangely saddened with Animah left, their goodbye had been very brief and she found herself missing the girl.

Keilana took a moment when he mentioned the person he had gotten into a scuffle trying to pull up a image and then nodded when the only shield user came to mind. The shifter? Same feelings for the same person? Keilana wondered if they had been fighting over herself. After all her brother was quite protective of her, but it didn't seem to fit just right, about to inquire more her hand froze on the spot on his cheek when the name Takoda came to the forefront.

Sitting there she stared at her brother with a look of complete shock on her face. She had met this one before Takoda the one in the forest who had antagonized her so. As the snow melted and dripped down his cheek and her fingers she seemed to suddenly explode.

"YOU LIKE A GUY???" She surged into her brother like a provoked Radaku as she hit her brother in a way that seemed more like she was slapping him. Trying to wake him up. "And not just any guy a shifter! What are you thinking? Are you insane??"

A sound of surprise escaped from Jacin's lips as he found himself getting yet another blow to the head, though this one a lot harder and less expected, Keilana rarely slapped after all. As he recovered from the shock, used to being hit by her but not in that manner, he picked himself up and starred at his sister who was currently screeching at him like some of pissed off bird. Lifting his hand up he rubbed it against his cheek, certain that must have a red, hand shaped print forming there as he tried to think about how he should respond, but he really had no idea what to say, "I... I just... I don't know! I don't know why or what I am thinking! I probably am insane but... I just... want him." He said, knowing that it sounded childish and stupid, that he should have a real reason, how the sun didn't set without Takoda or something along that sort of romantic line but instead he just had this overwhelming desire to have Takoda at his side, one that was difficult if not impossible to ignore.

"I just... I know what I want, Kei, and I want him and I know it's crazy, he's not a woman, he's not a Leaf Tribesman, he's not even of Tale but he is willing to come home with me!" It meant something, Takoda was willing to go to Tale, never once asking Jacinthus to go to Jauhar instead. Giving a sighing sound he continued, "I'm... sorry, sister. I was going to find a better way to tell you but I got... thrown off my game when that shield wielding twit challenged me like that." He muttered. He would have thought of something, a better way to tell her what was going on, a better way to explain how he was going to be taking a Shifter Healer home with them, that he meant to keep Takoda at his side, but had been unable to. Instead, in his anger over the fight, he'd just blurted it out. Nobody would ever say that Jacinthus was smooth or had the most tact in the world, but this was a moment where he was even more lacking in those areas then was normal for him.

Scooping up more snow he packed it down and pressed it to his cheek, "So I am taking the slap as your formal protest?" He asked in a muttered tone, finding that it stung far more then any punch she had ever given him and that he didn't much care for open hand slaps.
PostPosted: Sat Oct 27, 2012 10:23 pm

Her hand stung from the slap, she shook it out almost child like and perhaps she was acting like a child, but she couldn't help but suddenly be full of dread and worry. Dread for the fact this probably meant Jacinthus was probably going to leave her, and worry for what the tribe may think of the situation. True there were lots of ..results of mixed breeds around, but most of them seemed to be outcasts of society. Keilana didn't want such a life for her brother and the one he intended to be with. What hurt her most of all..was he would no longer be sticking to her like glue. His attentions were going to be elsewhere, fawning over someone else. It was selfish of her to want him for herself...especially since she had only months prior felt rather smothered by him. Shouldn't she feel relieved?

Sitting on the ground she glowered at her brother as she stuck her hand in the folds of her cloak as if trying to hide the weapon that had struck her brother. The poor girl was having a hard time pinning down just what about all of it bothered her.

"....are you sure these feelings...are true? " She ventured, trying to figure out just how deep this went. "You barely know the guy, unless you've been sneaking off to meet with him when my back was turned." Her tone became accusing, eyebrows narrowing as she tried to calm herself down again. "Th..this is going to be a HUGE change for either of you. He will probably become an outcast in his tribe you know that right? and well I can only fathom what the elders will think about you and your choice. Are you ready to make a sacrifice if it came down to it? Outcasts....shunned and possible banishment?" It wasn't that Keilana was trying to dissuade her brother from going after the shifter, she just didn't want him throwing his life away over a crush. Cause she was the mature one...right.

"The feelings... they are... strange. I always seem to be thinking about him, even though it's been some time since I have seen him. I met with him once before now, when I was on one of my hunting trips into Jauhar... I just... I don't know." He said, glancing in the direction that he knew the Shifter group was bedded down, shifted in place, then looked back at his sister, "I met him that one time and he's been in my thoughts ever since, then when I saw him again, saw my chance to talk to him, I just... reacted, I grabbed him and dragged him away so we could have some time to talk on our own..." He could have caused quite the incident if anyone saw him kidnap the Healer since he seemed to be well loved amongst his people but hadn't really thought about it at the time.

Sighing he squatted down, starring into the fire as his sister told him it was going to make an outcast of Takoda, that she couldn't guess at what the Leaf Tribe elders would think of Jacinthus, and he found himself wondering the same thing. What would they think? What would they do to him? Strip him of his rank, throw him out, would he no longer be a member of the tribe because of what he decided when it came to Takoda and his feelings for the Healer? He gave a rapid shake of his head, "They wouldn't throw me out! They know everything I do is for the tribe! And it's not as though I am bringing home someone who won't be useful to our people. Takoda is a Healer, he can summon Water, he is someone that they should welcome!" He said, feeling that the power that Takoda had at his disposal should be something that their tribe should welcome and be thankful for, what was better then someone that could call for water in the middle of a place like Tale? Even more importantly he could heal the wounds of those that hunted for them, guarded them, he would could very well become essential to their group if they only looked passed the fact that Takoda was both a Shifter and Male... it was a lot to ask but he felt that they should do it.

Giving a sigh he pushed himself to his feet, "I just have to get stronger, I will climb in the ranks, I will become someone too important to the Leaf Tribe, someone they can't throw aside so easily even if I made a strange choice in the way of my future mate." He said, sounding quite determined now. He just had to make himself indispensable, to the point that they would look at him, look at Takoda, and know that despite him having a Shifter at his side that they needed him too much to complain. His plan had always been to become a powerful member of their tribe but now it seemed he would just have yet another reason to do so, to protect Takoda.

As her brother explained how his thoughts always strayed back to this shifter she felt that jealousy rise up again. She tried to smother it quickly though the glower still came across in her eyes. Part of her was surprised by her brothers description about how when he saw the shifter last he basically stole him away as if to lay claim to him. The shifter was popular...even Keilana hated to admit that but she had seen the crowd of people...friends or admirers surround that man.

Listening quietly as she could she looked at the fire and picking up a stray stick, the end smoldering she poked at the fire with it. As Jacinthus then proceeded to explain why the tribe wouldn't kick him out she felt like her heart was sinking. Sure he says all this now. What if he was forced to make a choice? The idea that he would have to make a decision sooner rather than later made her feel crushed. Also jumping to the worst conclusion of her brother having to leave.

Flinching at the word mate she sighed and tossed the stick she was fiddling with into the fire completely. Moving to move her hair out of her face she wondered if he would feel the same way if it had been her in this situation.

"I'm ...sorry I hit you Jacinthus..you just ...startled me with this...sudden attraction declaration. I had no inkling you liked something...so it threw me for a loop. I think though you should keep it quiet...at least until your convinced he won't just leave you up a tree as soon as the tribes start to grumble.."

Jacinthus starred over at as his sister did something that he had never thought that he would ever hear her do. In fact it took him a moment to even believe it, had she just... had she... apologized? Were they at home he'd of been quick to check to see if Tale was freezing over around them, but they weren't in Tale. Not yet at least. Instead they were in Zena where it had already seemed to have already frozen over ages ago. Shaking his head to free himself of the shock that went along with his sister apologizing he gave a bit of a smile, "It's alright, little Kei, you aren't the first person to hit me over this particular revelation." He said, giving a bit of a grumble over that other Shifter who had beat him black and blue. At least he had done the same in return though, that was the only reason that made what happened at least somewhat alright.

"Ah well... I guess it was worth it." Both beatings really were worth it since in the end he might end up with exactly what he wanted, that being Takoda. He just hoped that somehow that shield carrying a** didn't somehow talk Takoda out of coming back to Tale with him. He didn't think that Takoda was as frivolous as all of that though. He wouldn't tell him that he liked him, that he was going home with him, only to change his mind just because another Shifter was throwing a fit about it. He had faith in Takoda, they would be going to Tale together, the two of them as well as Kei since she seemed to be as eager to get home as he was.

Looking over at his sister he gave her a smile, "Best that we get him used to Tale life before we announce it to the tribe, you are definitely right about that." He agreed, he didn't want Takoda to be back uncomfortable after all, he wanted him to be happy with his choice to follow Jacin back to Tale, "Thanks for understanding to a point, Little Kei, it means a lot to me." Even if she had hit first then accepted it, that was just her way of doing things was all.

Despite apologizing Keilana had no intentions of being friendly towards the shifter, she still didn't trust him or like him but she was going to have to travel with him...and that was going to be irritating she bet. Giving her brother an indignant look she returned to the pot,

"Why are you staring at me like the world is about to end." She commented hotly as she roughly stirred the contents of the pot hissing when a bit of it splashed up and against her hand, nearly dropping the ladle in the pot. Hissing she withdrew her hand and ladle and stared at it a moment before she blew on it and licked a bit of the stew off. Surprised it actually tasted...good she stuck the spoon in her mouth...rather childishly. Sucking on it she looked over to her brother and then removed the spoon from her mouth and dunk it back into the pot, she then removed it and offered it to her brother.

It...was a reminder of the past, Keilana had done things like this when she was very young, a peace offering to her brother with food.

"Well? You going to accept it or not?"

"Are you sure it's not ending? Not too often that you apologize, Kei." He reminded her with a bit of a chuckle. He was sure that she was likely to punch him again were he to continue to tease her so he would need to try to refrain from doing so. Instead he moved to sit down next to her near to the fire, watching the flames dance, then gave a happy sound as he lifted his hands up to warm them up, "Ahh, that's nice." He murmured, mostly to himself as he felt his hands, as well as the rest of him, start to warm up.

Turning to look over at Keilana he said, "I never thought that I would miss the dry, sweltering heat of Tale." It was something he'd thought on many occasions before now but the longer the was in Zena the more he missed Tale. In Tale they built fires to make food, not to keep from freezing to death like what one had to do in Zena. That was yet another thing that he found himself missing about Tale, "I swear I have a growing list about what I miss about Tale, makes me more and more eager to get back there, to return life to normal." Traveling was alright but he would just be happy to keep to Tale for a time. Even going as far as Jauhar felt like it might be a bit too far when what he really wanted to do was focus on his family, his love, and his tribe. He felt that he had spent more then enough time away and it was just time to get back.

When the food was held out to him he took it from her, "You know I never turn down a good meal." He said, inhaling deeply the scent coming off the stew of sorts that his sister had made and then set to digging in, "The one thing I don't look forward to is eating bugs again." He said with a laugh, not that he minded so much the taste, they tasted fine with the rice spices, but they were just so... ugly. It made it a touch more difficult to eat something when it looked bad but at the same time they were convenient since they cooked in their own shell so while there were down sides and gross sides he supposed the insects had their upsides as well.
