Lovers, Friends, and Others: Alexander Blackstone ~ Late Husband / Soul Mate. Several "lovers" throughout the years...most of whom wanted a child for their own family, but were unable to have one. Any children she has had since have been for other families. Michael Blackstone did not survive past childhood, and she has not tried to have a child for herself since. She keeps to her home so much that she does not have friends save for the "extinct" creatures she saves and keeps in her home.

Personality: Edel is friendly, hospitable, nurturing, calm, patient, and quite motherly at times. However, any kindness will vanish if she is angered, and she will become hostile very quickly.
People Skills: Edel is friendly and hospitable. She does her best to make others feel welcome and comfortable...especially if there's a potential for mutual benefit. She sometimes seems to know what others desire, and if she's able, she will usually do her best to fill another's need. She loves children, but has none of her own.
There are certain subjects that she simply will not talk about, and will put up an emotional wall. Her late husband and children are a subject she tries to avoid. She rarely leaves her home for that reason. If someone crosses her, or angers her for whatever reason, she becomes hostile very quickly. "Hell hath no fury" is a term that fits her quite well when she is angered. And she will take her time making sure the offender pays.
Goals: She had ambitions to raise a family with her soul mate, and become one of the most powerful beings on earth. Since the death of her husband and child...she has focused everything she has on helping others (for a price), and studying to advance her magical abilities.
Fears: Being forgotten, trying for another child or family and loosing them again.

Skills: She was taught several kinds of advanced magic as the years have gone by. She is also able to calm most wild creatures, having experience with many different types of aggressive creatures. It's hinted that she may even own such a creature or two, but they are rarely seen by guests.

...are among her known and skillfully used magic. Though with her day to day life, she mostly uses these abilities in aiding others, or practicing to continue her mastery on such magics.
The magic Edel most uses are conjuring, defensive and fortifying spells, and a kind of Healing magic that she is continually trying to master and perfect. All three are likely linked to the loss of her late family, and her desire to never let such a thing happen again.
Edel is also able to use Elemental magic, but not as well as she can use her other magics, as this is still a field that she is studying and trying to master. She is able to use Earth, Water, and Fire, but only one at a time, and only for a limited amount of time. Because of how much it drains Edel physically and mentally, she relies much more on her other magic.
Edel is able to use an Energy blast, but this is an ability used only as a last resort or a result of rage. It leaves her incredibly weak once she has used the spell. Edel had begun to study Auric magic, but with the changing times, she was only able to get her feet wet with such strong magic. It's on her "to do" list, and she expects that it will take a few centuries for her to use well.
For a while, Edel had been tempted to try and learn Dark magic...after the loss of her family. She had wanted to try and bring them back to her, but could never bring herself to actually try to preform such magic. She has never tried to get rid of the notes and books she has on such magic either. They are kept locked away in some guarded area of her home...just in case one day she does decide that she wants to learn dark magic.
Weaknesses: She has immortality, but she's still human; she can be physically injured and killed. She is also weak against certain kinds of magic, mainly dark magic. This does not mean that she is to be taken lightly...Edel will fight with everything she has until she physically cannot go on.
The subject of her late family also tends to be a heavy downfall for Edel. If the subject is touched on the wrong way, it can bring out Edel's rage quite quickly. If gone about the right way, it can bring out Edel's more depressed emotions. Leaving her guard down, and sometimes open to suggestion on how to bring them back. In the past, Edel had thought about using Dark magic to try and bring them back, but she couldn't bring herself to actually preform such magic.
Technology/Weapons/Pharpenilia: The best piece of technology she owns is a cell phone and a computer. She is not that knowledgeable with modern technology. As for weapons and such, she carries several magic based items in a small, magical pouch that she carries at her side. The bag allows her to carry a great number of small things such as stones, runes, cards, guns, daggers, etc. Larger items, she can only carry one or two things. Such as a cloak or blanket.
Edel is also rather opposed to Alchemy. Coming from a largely magically influenced background, she doesn't understand how science can be turned into magic. Science is science, and magic is magic. She has centuries of wealth built up and saved in her own vault...she has no use for turning rocks into gold. She has immortality, so she has no use for questing for prolonged life. So she has no interest in learning about such a type of magic.
In all honesty, the subject tends to give her a headache when she tries to understand it.

History
Edel was born to a small clan of witches who lived reclusely in Europe in the 15th century. She was taught magic, and groomed to try and work her way up to a more noble stature. Instead of marrying her family into the line of the nobility, she fell in love with the son of a local tradesman. The two agreed upon an immortality spell that would bind their souls together, with the risk of an unknown curse. After preforming the spell, the two fled to begin a life of their own. As the years went by, and no sign of a "curse" made itself known, Edel and Alexander tried for a child. They were blessed with Michael Blackstone.
After a few years, their home was attacked. Edel was delt a nearly fatal blow to the head, and woke up the next morning. Alexander and Michael were gone...leaving Edel alone with her immortality. Edel also has no memory of who or what had attacked their home, and is unable to gain a clear image of the attackers no matter what magic she tries to use.
As the years passed by, Edel kept herself nearly locked up in her home, learning as much as she could about magic. Determined to make a name for herself. As society changed with the times, however, Edel's desire to become the most powerful being on the planet died little by little. Instead, she moved to America and set up a home and magic shop in a very rural and private location. Keeping herself locked away, and tending only to herself and her customers.
She knows of many of the different races, has done business with them from time to time, but she isn't very up-to-date with the modern times or the different races.
