So far the little white and grey cub had been enjoying all of the sights he had been getting introduced to. It was interesting here, much more than it had been during the long walk to get to the pride. Granted, he had enjoyed the playtime with his siblings but they didn't see too many others while they were out there, where ever they had been. Here there were always others around! Other lions and cheetahs that they could meet and talk to and play with. It was so exciting! Today he had decided to sneak away while his dad was being told about the breeder thing he wanted to do and his mom was busy bathing his brother. She had told him it would be his turn next; that's when Baldric decided to slip away. He wondered who he would meet, wandering around in the pride alone.

 Per'roth was stretching for her race. She lowered her front and stretched her front paws out as far as she could manage. Then one back leg followed by the other was extended out behind her, and she wiggled her toes. If she hadn't known the importance of these exercises before meeting Mavi she sure knew them now. The healer had been very thorough in her education. The cheetahess whipped her tail side to side to ensure it was limber as well.
Stretching exercises completed. The purple cheetah moved onto the next part: the warm up. She ran slowly in a circle until just barely breathing hard. Her muscles were toned, stretched, and warmed. Again she checked herself to ensure that she felt well and nothing felt strained. Mavi took excellent care of her and wouldn't let her race if the slightest bit was out of place. She looked up in time to see a white and grey lion cub wandering around. It brought a smile to her lips knowing Mavi would soon have her own tiny litter.
" 'Cuse me, young sir. You look offly young to be strolling around here without your mom or pop."

Baldric was too busy taking in the sights and scents around him that he almost didn't notice that someone was speaking to him. When he looked in the direction of the voice, his small, yellow eyes widened. A cheetah! At least he thought it was a cheetah; he didn't see a tuft of fur on her tail like his mom had.
"I-I-I guess so," he stuttered, trying to find his voice through his excitement. This was the first cheetah he had gotten to see up close and she was very pretty in his eyes. He wondered, and slightly hoped, if she was one of the racers. "But it was this or a bath."
"Hi, you're a cheetah right?" Once the sentence was out of his mouth, he could feel his cheeks heat up slightly in embarrassment.

He is quite young, she thought to herself. Had she heard anything about a litter like him? She couldn't remember, but she could always ask Mavi. The healer would likely know. Per'roth gave a friendly grin.
"It gets rather crazy around here come race time youngling. A bigger lion might not notice a scrap like you under foot. Better be careful eh?" Per settled herself down to chat. Her race wasn't 'til later, so she could afford to watch him 'til someone came calling. "Now there is nothing wrong with a good bath! Though I suppose if it wasn't your idea it might not seem so great?" She arched her brow as she asked.
"You don't want to be known as that scruffy, dirty lion do you?" She gave him a wink. His next question brought a laugh. "Oh I am, I am. No need to be embarrassed. You're still young to the world. I had to ask my first lion if he was lion. I'm Per'roth. What's yours?"

He took a good look at the cheetah and noticed the differences between her and his mom. Her tail was different, it didn't have a tuft on the end. Plus she was smaller than his mother. She had a baby blue coat and purple fur on her head. He wondered if she was one of the ones that the breeders would be looking at. Maybe once his dad got settled into the breeding position, he could tell his dad about her. Though he still wasn't entirely sure what 'breeding' was.
He gave her a small grin. "I will! I just wanted to look around," he replied and wrinkled his nose at her, "Yeah I know, but she likes to clean us all the time. I'll get my bath when I get back." he moved a bit closer and dropped his voice slightly to try to whisper, "I don't like to have my fur dirty all the time, 'specially this," he whispered, rubbing the white fur on his chest. Though he hated bath time, having dirt and sometimes dried mud in his fur was worse.
"Thanks. My name's Baldric," he replied with small bow. As he bent back up, something she had said earlier in the conversation finally registered, "There's a race today?"

Oblivious to his thoughts, she laughed. This lion promised to be one thoughly entranced with racing. Maybe he'd even bet on her now and then. "Eager to see hm? Not that I blame you. It gets pretty wild during a race." Per tilted her head with a grin. "That's a mother's job. I've a friend who's about to give birth. I'll bet you that she'll be just as bad as your mom, if not worse." The cheetahess leaned closed to whisper conspiratoryly, "she's a healer."
She nodded sympathetically as he gestured to the white portions of his coat. Those would surely be a pain to keep clean. "Well all I can suggest is pay attention to how she does it. Soon enough you'll be able to do it for yourself. A right pleasure to meet you Baldric!" She gave a delighted giggle at his bow. "So cute too!"
"Mmmmmm indeed there is! There's actually a couple. I'm in one of the later ones." She tilted her head at him. "I'll give you a choice since you seem so interested, and I don't think you're pulling my leg. We can either stroll around where the cheetahs get ready for the races, or I'll sit with you to watch the first races." Her eyes danced as she waited for him to make a choice.

Eager? He wasn't sure exactly what it meant but he was definitely excited! "Yes!" Baldric exclaimed bouncing slightly on his paws. When they arrived, the family had to get settled in and find a den to call their own. So far they hadn't been able to go down as a family to watch a race yet and he was slowly getting impatient.
At the mention of the cheetah's friend that was about to give birth, his eyes widened even more, if that was possible. There would be more cubs! That meant he might have others to play with besides Nili and Ries! His little tail wagged furiously behind him, giving away every ounce of excitement he was feeling. "Wow! Maybe my mom can work with her and I'll get to meet them. My mom wants to be a healer too."
When she suggested that he pay attention to how his mom gave them baths, he thought about it. He could give himself a bath whenever he needed it, she wouldn't have to do it anymore. "I could do that," he replied, chest puffing out slightly in pride at her remark about him being cute. "Thank you."
At her offer, his tail stopped wagging and his mouth dropped open in shock. "Seriously?" he wasn't sure which option he would rather choose. He wanted to see the cheetahs but he also wanted to see a race. But he would have the opportunity to see a race later; when would he get the chance to see where the cheetahs prepared themselves. "I wanna watch, but I really wanna see the other cheetahs too."

Per gave a giggle. "I'll see if I can't introduce you after their born." In fact it would likely be several days before Mavi would allow anyone but close family or friends near the cubs. Still she could drop a hint this cub would be a good playmate for them. "That's excellent. I believe Mavi is looking for an apprentice. With the cubs coming she could use some help, I think personally."
She nodded pleased that he had taken her suggestion to heart so quickly. "You are welcome." Her eyes twinkled with laughter that she didn't want to give sound to lest she hurt his feelings. "Absolutely. C'mon then cub. Lets go meet some cheetahs." Per rose easily to her feet and headed off to where she knew the other cheetahs waiting for the races would be.

Baldric's eyes widened when she said she would try to introduce him to the new cubs. He would have others his size to play with besides Nili and Ries! He wondered what the cubs would be like and if they would like to play with him. "Oh thank you so much!" he replied happily. "I know Ms. Mavi, my mom's gonna be working with her."
He gave her a grin and lightly bounced on his paws from excitement. "Alright!" he replied and quickly followed after her.

She was delighted with the foyfulness of this cub. If only they could all be like this. "Excellent!" Her mind schemed already. If his mom, and Mavi were going to be busy with healing stuff, this clearly left her to watch the cubs. Per grinned. "If I babysit you will you play with me too?" She wiggled her ears hopefully at him.
Back behind the starting line she pointed out the different cheetahs she knew. Introducing him to a couple who had a few minutes to spare, then showing him how behind the scenes of a race worked.

She was willing to babysit? "Of course!" he could be babysat by a cheetah and see was willing to play with him, even after showing him around and letting him meet other cheetahs? How could he say no!
He listened with rapt attention as Per pointed out some of the cheetahs she knew. This was the best day ever!

Well and truly pleased with herself the cheetahess purred. This was something she was going to look forward to. She watched the cub as she showed him different places. It was almost a regret when his parent finally came for him. Per waved her goodbyes and headed off to her race.
