So first, a thank you. I was encouraged to keep going and try to vend more and more until I got good at it a few months ago, by members of this guild. Now, today alone I made close to 200k on vends.
So, a few questions:
I have anywhere from 1m to 100k in funds normally (it dips down when I wait for items to sell. Currently, all gold + items that are waiting to sell, I have 1.2m) and I'm normally vending "luxury" items worth 100-900k for a 10-30k profit off of each item (Not including 2% tax, which is around 4-5k for a ~200k item). Is this the best price/profit to be vending at? With 1.2m, what should my daily gold intake be, and what should my average profits be off of each item?

Also, my theory. So, I bought to of an item for 50k, and sold them for 59k each. Now, the price has dropped to 52k. I could just take a hit and sell them back for 50k again, but I had an idea: What if I bought the 550k worth of them that are cheaper than mine, and sold them all for the same price as mine? A kind of "mass-buy", if you will. Would this work, or would the price just drop again as more people list? Because, in essence, if I could take 10--15 items ranging from 52k to 59k and resell them all for 59k, it would be a fairly nice profit, right?

Sorry, I'm fairly new to the rules of the marketplace. yeah its essentially that, and odds are it doesnt really work mainly because other people could list lower

And couldn't you make at least a little profit off of it? Also, another question. Would it be possible to cause item shortages to bring a price up? Lets say I have 15m currently. If I invest it all in an item that is no longer being released and have, say, 70% of all of them on Gaia, would the price rise? Or would users just not notice, and it would be back to that selling higher when the average price is lower thing?

Or would users just not notice, and it would be back to that selling higher when the average price is lower thing? 1. the price would probably drop back to the norm because of the average buy price 2. thats basically artificial inflation and its a taboo amongst vendors/most people on gaia 3. odds are people would notice if the price spiked that much and theyd try to list for lower prices in order to cash in on the surge in price, once that starts more people list lower to sell quickly and the price stabilizes that way

The problem with artificial inflation is that there is absolutely no way you are going to be able to monopolise any item on the market, except for maybe the rare shinies that bank at 20m+ each. There's just too much supply for everything else, so the market resets VERY fast. That plus the fact that Gaia supplies market information means that a stunt like this is only going to work on people that live in their own little bubbles.
As for your first question about which items to deal in: generally, items that have a higher turnover are a better source of profit, because you'll be able to sell more in less time. And the cheaper an item is, the more likely the turnover is going to be high. If you're sitting on 1m, I'd go up to 300-500k max per item, focusing on buying cheaper items with the highest profit margin.
