It had been several days after Arusi and Kerer had bumped into that pretty female, but it was still on the adolescent's mind. Kerer had not, in fact, stayed with the lioness what's-her-name; he'd followed right after Arusi when she'd gotten mad. Why that was, however, she wasn't sure. It wasn't like it was a secret that her temper flared up easily, just like her mother. She'd even started to figure out why she'd gotten so angry. She'd been jealous, just like how she got when she'd watched her sisters and brothers as cubs. They were all so graceful and she... well, she just wasn't.
Though it kept tugging at the back of her mind and resurfacing, as though maybe she didn't have it quite right. She gave her tail a little flick as she glanced back over her shoulder at Kerer; trailing behind as usual. She turned fully around, walking backwards slowly. "So what d'ya wanna do?" She called back; things had been much too boring for her tastes.

Kerer had stopped worrying about Arusi's temper after it became apparent that his apology and leaving Lys would be sufficient. He liked that about Arusi, the fact that she wasn't the sort to hold grudges. Most of the time Kerer couldn't be bothered to hold grudges, but he supposed he could if sufficiently provoked, like if someone he cared about was hurt. But then he wouldn't hold a grudge. He'd just kill the offender. Problem solved, no grudges necessary.
"Oh, er. I've been smelling saltwater on winds from the east for a while. Do you want to see what it is?" he asked. The territory around them was kind of jungle-like, but in their travels they'd seen enough of that Kerer was no longer disconcerted by the profusion of trees. In fact, he positively adored the shadiness of such locations, if only they weren't so humid.
"There're probably some different fish in salt water. They might taste better than the ones we caught before." He hadn't liked those. It had been his first time eating fish, and he hadn't liked it at all. Too...fishy.

She considered what Kerer was saying, she'd been starting to grow bored of the jungle like area. She didn't like how confined it was, how hard it was to see everything. "We could go fer a swim!" She declared, grinning and nodding. "Less o'course it's just like... y'know not good to swim or sommin." Oh, that would certainly be a let down!
Arusi had never been picky about consumption, basically if someone said it was edible she would eat it. "Bet I can catch more o'em." She did, however, care about winning. It didn't matter what it was that she won at really, just as long as she did win.

A swim might be nice. After the experience with the leeches Kerer had been reluctant to go into the water in the jungle. He'd drink it, but even that he tended to do quickly and in short spurts so that nothing would have a chance to latch onto him and attempt to suck his blood. That had been just disgusting. He didn't mention them, though, because he didn't want to put up with any more teasing on the subject. It hadn't been funny to him at any point, and it still wasn't.
"Yeah, maybe," he allowed without much enthusiasm. "Maybe we'll even meet some other people. That would be nice."
It probably made him a bad friend to think it, but Kerer was getting tired of Arusi's company. She was just exhausting to be around and he spent more and more time just agreeing with what she said because if he spoke his mind then they'd get into a fight and he didn't feel like fighting. Even for a lion who was not given to a great deal of talking, being virtually silent most of the time got annoying after a while.Lethrossen I'm so sorry. A lot of my RPs have just been slipping my mind lately. I'll try to get through this one quick-like.

Arusi hadn't been effected much by the leaches, at least she hadn't been freaked out or disgusted with them like Kerer had been. She guessed that was why he sounded like he could care less about swimming... though that didn't account for why he was just getting more and more boring lately. He didn't even have a laugh about the whole leaches thing! Not to mention he didn't really talk that much... not that he was a big talker in the first place. But usually he told her some pretty interesting things... "Right." She allowed after a moment. New people certainly would be nice. "Maybe they won't be boring scardy-cats." She half mumbled, rolling her eyes.
He hadn't even said anything about who could catch more fish, which was obviously her. She could catch way more fish than Kerer any day and... well. It wasn't really fun if he wasn't going to compete with her. As they got to the water she fell into a sulky silence as well, not sure what else to do or say. "Think anyone lives around here?" Other people... the more she thought about it the nicer it sounded. Princess_Feylin No worries, sorry if this reply was a little dopy. IDK -runs-

Kerer's eyes narrowed slightly. He wasn't as absurdly hyperactive as Arusi, but he knew he wasn't boring and he resented being called boring. More than that, though, he hated being called a scaredy cat.
"I have no idea," Kerer said sharply. "Why would I know that any better than you? You think I've been here before?"
It wasn't really unreasonable of her to think he might have noticed some sign of habitation. He had been trained as a hunter and he was pretty good at it. Of course that had been for a desert territory, and they definitely were not in the desert any more. He was no better trained for jungle terrain than Arusi was.
"If there are people here, I really hope they're children in adult bodies who have to be entertained every minute of every day or else they start whining. I've had a lot of experience dealing with that kind of person since leaving the pride and it would be so rewarding to put all that experience to some practical use," he answered her. His voice practically dripped with sarcasm.

Her ears went beck in annoyance. "No, I don' think that." She spat the words out as if they were leaving a horrible taste in her mouth. Of course she knew Kerer hadn't been in the jungle before but the fact was she did rely on him for making practical assumptions. She supposed that maybe she should do a little thinking on her own once in a while... maybe she'd just let it grow into to big of a habit. "You're right. Why would you know any better than me?" Because she could know things too!
She turned around completely at his next words, almost tripping over her own paws in her haste to face him. "Hey!" She shouted the word, though wasn't sure what to say next. "I'm not like that!" She growled, though the reason she felt so offended at his words had to be because she knew exactly what he was talking about. "At least I'm not some... some... dull... mud-loving... dummy...!" She continued to shout, though once the words were out she almost wished she'd taken a few more moments to say something more clever than that.
"Maybe you could just go around saving stupid idiots from drowning!" She wasn't sure why the incident had popped into her head, but it had and it had made her eight times angrier. "Oh wait, maybe then you'd get leeches on you and we couldn't live with that could we?" She turned now, not really in the mood to swim but not sure what else to do. So she stomped her way right into the water, tail lashing.

"Oh, ouch!" Kerer answered mockingly. Mud-loving dummy? Was that really the best she could come up with? He would have laughed, but frankly he was too frustrated for laughter, even if it was mocking.
"Do you even know how childish you are? At least Lys is an adult who acts her age. I should have stayed with her. I have no idea why I came after you." He, too, was in a mood to be unkind at this point, and his words came out as snarls. It didn't much help his case in proving that he was more mature than Arusi, losing his temper like this, but it had been bottled up for a long time.
"Why don't you just go find someone else to annoy? I'm sick to death of looking after you and dealing with you. If I had wanted to be a nanny I would have stayed in the desert." His eyes blazed with a challenging fire almost never present in his expression. He really, honestly hoped she would take him up on the dare and leave.Lethrossen Not as quick. If acting like an adult meant not knowing how to swim and being all googly eyed and... going around licking strangers and basically just being a huge moron than she'd rather be childish forever. Why was he so obsessed with acting his age anyhow? Besides, who decided the 'proper' way to act at any given age? That was a stupid concept to her. Couldn't anyone have a good time and just let loose? "Yeah, you should have stayed with miss 'I'm so obsessed with myself I probably started drowning because I was too busy staring at my reflection'! You guys could have been sticks in the mud together!"
She smashed her paw down into the water as she looked down at her own reflection, still sloshing through it. Fish and swimming had been completely forgotten at this point. "Looking after me? Dealing with me? Oh gee, I didn't know I was making your life oh-so hard!" She flung a nasty look over her shoulder, glad the anger was thick enough to cover up her hurt. "Well I'm sick of you always holding me back and just... just... fine! Fine, I will go find someone else and they won't be annoyed. We'll have fun and have adventures and not just walk around endlessly!"
It wasn't like she needed Kerer, she'd be just fine without him. She turned back toward him but refused to look at him as she stomped back out of the water and right past him without another word.

Kerer wasn't so chivalrous that he was going to get annoyed about Arusi calling Lys names. He had found Lys attractive and the idea that she had found him attractive, too, was both appealing and flattering, but in all likelihood he would never see her again. Certainly he wasn't going to go to the effort of trying to find her. So Arusi's remarks on that front more or less rolled off his back.
"Go ahead," he said with a shrug. It was easier to feign nonchalance when she was yelling at him because he despised being yelled at and so he really wouldn't mind as much in this moment whether she left him or got eaten by a snake or anything.
He let her stomp past him and get a few feet beyond him before calling out, "Oh, Arusi? Don't think you're going to find me here, waiting for you, when you can't make it on your own."Lethrossen Last post from me, I think.

She snorted at his last words and thought about saying nothing, but she couldn't stand the idea of not getting in the last word. "Hah, yeah right like I'd come back. Don't bother thinking I'll be here when your life gets so boring you'd do better off getting run down by a rhino!"
She totally could make it on her own, she'd show him! Well... she wouldn't show him because she'd never see Kerer again. Or she'd eat her own tail! princess_feylin and a last post for myself as well!
