So I'm about to take a test tomorrow in my graduate Human Development class.
I'm going to the same school I did my undergrad in, and the professor is the same professor I had for my undergrad developmental psych class.
Holy crap is it different.
We're talking at least double the reading. At least. One chapter per class, plus secondary source materials that are equal to (or longer than) the chapter per class. At the end of the semester, we have a major paper do, but we had to do a pre-paper where we critiqued one journal article. The "pre-paper" was eight pages.
I've been studying for this grad test for the past few days and my head feels so stuffed with information. blarfdghdfjkdh
how is your schooling/work going?

Number Theory is an easy A. Complex Analysis and Mathematical Models? Not so much. I got a D and an F on my first tests in those classes. I can pass Complex, but I don't know about Mathematical Models x__X
I don't get grades like this... I just want to cry, but instead I just try not to think about it

Thermodynamics: A bit difficult to catch up on, since I missed out on a lot of work early on. I didn't have the book, and couldn't complete any tutorial problems due to the lack of tables. Static Mechanics: Easy 'nough. Material Science: Primarily need to catch up on an assignment I have to present in a couple of weeks. Linear Algebra: I should manage to pass this unit this semester, as I've actually done most the assignments.

I found it to be an absolute waste of time, with the only thing worth learning that I didn't already know not even needing one full week to learn. I gave it the amount of effort I felt it deserved, and they didn't seem to take too kindly to that. Still pondering on a better way to go about things. If I give college credit for anything it's the ability to make better alternatives difficult, if not impossible, to find.

All three classes I'm taking this quarter are retakes of subjects I've already passed because the one class that I have left to take wasn't available this quarter. I'm retaking Photoshop I because last time I took it we were still on CS4 and not we're on CS6 and I want to learn the new tools. It's hella easy for me, I sit in the back of the class working on my own projects and my teacher, who was the one that taught me photoshop perviously, is perfectly okay with it as long as I get the work done. I'm retaking Lighting & Effects in Maya to improve my Maya modeling skills, and this time I'm learning a lot of new stuff the s**t for brains teacher I had last time didn't teach us. I'm retaking Concept Art-Characters just to get an improved grade. That class is just fun because I have friends in there that I can joke around with plus I only have class one day a week and the rest is homework that the teacher posts online.

My tax class, plus a few others I'll have in the next two terms, are hybrid classes where they count as both undergrad and grad classes. In Tax, the grad students just have an additional paper to do.

Comparative Studies: 4 readings (2 weeks) behind in reading Chemistry: It's just not going to ******** happen. (i.e., only understand up to ch 6 of the material, we've started ch 11 last week) Math: Fun, but getting into stuff I don't understand. Caught up and staying on top of classwork. CSE: Frustrating, but slowly being able to write code even if it makes me yell at the computer for hours on end.
All in all, I can't wait for next year and on's classes. They're actually going to be interesting whereas I'm stuck with all the pre-req classes now... Next semester will be fun... Bio, Math, Stats, MechEng/MatSci...

Advanced Molecules, Membranes and Cell - boring boring boring, as boring as the class of a similar title I had to take last year. Also doesn't help I'm ill and as such didn't attend class today...
Brain Function and Malfunction - Acceptable, some of the lecturers suck donkey doodie but thats par for the course, and the dissection elements are hell of an interesting thing to do. If rather disgusting... well week 2 was disgusting the rest of it isn't so bad... except when I got dead person in my hair that one time...
My other class for this semester hasn't started yet and next semester is devoted entirely to whatever Honours project I get and exams.
Oh and I've got like 9 or 10 deadlines and things to do already

I graduate this spring, my 5th year to be exact (because the bastards in finance department wouldn't let me waive a requirement on the very last class I needed, I have 1 class next semester x-x )
That aside, I hopefully start a job with the Department of Defense in November supposing my paper work checks out.
After that it's some accounting and finance certifications, and I'll apply to the FBI in a year or two.

I just hit freshman year of college (though I transferred in 48 credit hours, so....). I'm pretty good at my CBE class, doing well in gen chem (though I took AP chem in high school), got a nice solid D in calc 2, and then I've got a few "fluffy" classes that replace all my comp 150 things and aucc stuff o.o but it's different. I'm having to work a lot harder in a lot of classes, when they used to just come naturally. It's an odd feeling.
