This is an open RP for everyone which means, yes, rogues, non-lions, familiars and pride members [so long as they have permission] can join in. You may also join in the fun if you already own a Nergui, but with the understanding that all prizes available here are for Nergui newbies only. There will be at least two prizes given away [see next post for details on how to win].

exclaim To find out more about the pride click >>>Here<<<

And all that is left to say is have fun and feel free to jump in and join us at any time! [Oh, and read the next couple of posts for all required info!]

Setting the Scene
For the best part of a year, a small number of Nergui spies, headed up by the infamous Tömörbaatar, were dispatched into the southern lands on some vague quest to uncover another piece of Graos Oma's vision. However, their time has long since run out and with no sign of their returning, a group of Nergui have been sent to retrieve them.

Ilizi, niece of the Kaar Oma, and two of her cousins [the sons of Mchawi and Tömörbaatar] are those who have been sent to locate them and bring them back.

Without a doubt, this small troop will be attracting attention as they draw closer to their target...

The Prizes!

These two girls are the daughters of the Kaar Oma Mchawi and the esteemed Shuko Tomorbaatar. As such they are viewed as 'upper-class' citizens within the pride for as long as Mchawi remains in her high rank.

Things you need to know about these girls:
- They are nav blood.
- They would be bilingual.
- They have never met their father, though they will know he is a highly regarded Shuko on an important mission assigned by Graos Oma.
- They have not been rolled for their seer status - winners are free to do so.
- It would be difficult but not impossible for them to achieve a promotion in the future due to their parentage.
- They have two brothers born in the same litter; Drogon [wooga Paes] and Nyarl [Mimsey].
- They also come with all of their other stages and back-dated RP is available for them if the winner should wish to.
- They may not leave the pride without serious IC implications.
- It is advisable to read up on the pride via the link given in the post above to understand all implications of owning one of these ladies.

Their Family:

Mother--Mchawi [owned by Kimaria]
An ambitious and clever lioness-witch with a shady past. She enjoys being feared and takes much pleasure in her role as Kaar Oma. Mchawi views everyone as a pawn in her game - everyone except for her family. In fact, one of her only redeeming qualities is her love and devotion to her blood relatives. Whilst she is not a 'cuddly' mother, she will praise her children and do everything in her power to see them grow into strong, independent adults. Her pride in them is clear and she would defend them fiercely. It is said that she is the most powerful seer the Nergui has had at its disposal in quite some time and has so far gone unchallenged by the other Kaar in the pride.

Father--Tomorbaatar [owned by Kimaria]
Mchawi has told stories of Tomorbaatar's prowess at stealth and his clearly focused mind. There may not be love between them but there is a grudging respect. This male spends a great deal of time outside of the horde, sneaking through the south lands at the order of Graos Oma. An older male, tough and scarred, he is mostly gruff and stern though he will likely take a masked pride in his children if they do well within the Nergui. An aloof lion who struggles to stay in one place for too long, he can be snappy and impatient when not out doing his duty.

Brother--Drogon [owned by wooga Paes]
An ambitious young lion, Drogon has finally begun to develop some more brain to complement his brawn. Though he seems like a clear choice for the Blood Guard, with his size and fighting spirit, Drogon has his sights firmly set elsewhere. He has a tendency to be a little reckless, but is proving to be a fast learner.

Brother--Nyarl [owned by Mimsey]
Nyarl has always been more of a plotter than a fighter. Although unquestionably smart and ruthless, he lacks the strength to really climb the ranks among the nergui. Any accolades have been the result of opportunity, and he sticks close to his family to avoid direct conflict with other members.

Cousin--Ilizi [owned by Kimaria]
A flirty young hybrid who is daughter to Msiba [Mchawi's brother]. She can be quite the charmer when she wishes to be and has a seemingly positive, upbeat nature. Her smile, however, guards a manipulative side that she picked up from her aunt - though she applies it through being sassy rather than for being fear-inspiring. However, in the Nergui she is viewed as an abomination and, if it were not for Mchawi, would have been killed by the pride long ago. Her life is only safe whilst her family hold a good reputation within the pride. This knowledge has tamed her somewhat and she is learning to fade into the background to avoid unwanted attention.

How to win:
Lioness 1 - Raffle including all posts in this thread. One post = one raffle ticket. Raffle drawn at the end of the RP.
Lioness 2 - Map mini-game.

exclaim To be eligible you must not already own a Nergui member.

Quote:
Ilizi had dropped back to lag behind her cousins, the pace the fully-grown lions were setting just a little too fast for her comfort. Not that she could blame them. This was their first assignment, an opportunity to prove their worth to themselves and to the rest of their pride. If she were them, she would have been the same. Unfortunately, she was not. She was labelled abukemoseum and there was nothing she could do to change that, not unless she found a way to drain the leopard blood from her veins.

And then, off to the west, movement drew her eye. Vultures; circling.

"Nyarl! Drogon!" She raised her voice. "To the west. Do you see the vultures? If a lion has made a kill it might draw others. Others we can question for any signs of your father?" Or maybe just grab a bite to eat...

Flicking her leopard-tail, the hybrid turned slowly in the direction of the ugly, feathered scavengers. "It's worth a try, isn't it? We're getting closer to where he was last sighted."

[OOC: I'd like my posts to count as tickets for the first pride newbie to post in this RP heart If I may xd

Also, please presume that Xavier, while a god, is under a disguise - Vunde's to him about the Nergui and their ways, so he's not going to just waltz on in as himself to the north, he's going to use a disguise.]

From another direction, Nuri had spied the vultures. One in particular was strikingly familiar, and she couldn't help smile a bit. Right there behind it, a larger-than-average raven... The hooded lioness, this time not wearing her favored spot-hiding rug, began to walk toward the vultures. As she drew closer, she contemplated just what might be there, or maybe even who. While the other three had been sent out on a mission, Nuri had simply gone out scouting on her own. Maybe there was a rogue she could recruit, maybe she'd find an actual god to boast about killing... She wasn't sure yet what she'd find, but to spy two familiar birds was at least comforting.

It had been a long walk, but he'd eventually reached the north side of the desert. Xavier still bore the guise of a mortal lion, though now he was becoming irritated enough that he might have to shed it - Vunde had flown off to find some dead thing. The adolescent lion scowled, head down as he stalked after the bird, a low string of angry words in an unknown language passing out of his maw. He paused suddenly, smelling the wind. He wasn't alone... Tossing his black mane out of his violet eyes, he looked around, toes kneading the ground a bit. He'd have to keep the disguise up longer than expected... Someone was close, and he wasn't sure if they were friend or foe.

[ooc; I really should be playing my new hyena girl, but Tahir is just too much fun for me. ;^; ]

Vultures, how delicious. A pair of pale green eyes peered out from the long grass, hiding the scrawny form of an emaciated maned wolf. Tahir wasn’t fond of scavenging, but he had little skill in hunting and there weren’t many smaller animals around to bully away from their kills. Trick and coddle until they shared of their own accord? Certainly, he could manage that, but there were always risks when one set about with lies and deceit. No, today Tahir was going to wait and share his pickings with some old buzzards. Not much of a meal, but he was skinny enough not to be picky.

“I’ll be lucky if there are bones and intestines left for me,” he snorted. Kept his voice low, though, so as not be found just yet.

A different smell caught his attention. He pricked and swiveled his ears. Lions? He hushed a moan and buried his face in his bony legs. Now there would be nothing. He stood, preparing to move off, when the first of the batch came into view.

Lions he’d never seen before. And a hybrid. What an odd group to be out in the rogue lands.

Tahir quieted and settled back on his haunches. Perhaps this was a good opportunity to watch, and wait.

((OOC: Hakuna'jina will NOT be taking her full form, staying in her leopard mortal form the entire time.))

Hakuna'jina was fonder of moving without wings than with them. And being a leopard...well, it was an interesting experience. She was rather fond of the creatures, and their bodies had such unique advantages to them! The crimson female yawned and stretched, hearing a few bones pop fully back into place (she just couldn't seem to shake her age, no matter her form), then looked to the sky. Hm? Vultures. Ah...vultures usually meant food. And creatures. Hmm...perhaps one of them might be able to give her a clue as to where the black lioness with hints of yellow in her shattered memories was. She turned herself towards the circling vultures, unaware she wasn't the only creature looking for info about someone.

Kyouko had ventured far beyond her pride again. Then again...the only ones who would notice the vision-crazed priestess was missing were her family. Epy and Ho and Ime...But her visions had driven her paws OUT again. Out searching for...something. Her 'Shining Emperor' maybe? Yes...that was who she was out looking for again. She'd not yet found him, though. She'd find him one day, though. Yes she would. Perhaps this would be the day? She found herself nearing circling vultures, her dark eyes peering at them curiously. Oh? Who had died?

Nyarl shook out his mane, gazing out across the plain. He saw the vultures, but they did little to ease his mood. He scowled, his young face bunching up in an unattractive sneer. Unlike most Nergui, Nyarl didn't have much of a taste for rogue kind. They were unpredictable, foreign, and just generally intolerable. Hardly worth the power of the one.

But it was an important mission for the family. Like it or not, Ilizi was right.

"We might as well," he said lowly. "It seems the scavengers are already congregating about."

On his shoulder, Mau clicked his bill together. A kill was an interesting prospect...if not a bit irrelevant to their proceedings. The raven hopped forward until he had a good view from Nyarl's head. There were some other birds. Not a bad change of pace.

Drogon had quite the appetite, and was not likely to object finding something to eat. Still, he had a few doubts that going to whatever was attracting the vultures would be entirely useful for them. That would be just so... well, convenient. And, as such, unlikely!

Still, he had no real reason to object to going that way. He glanced at his cousin and shrugged, not objecting, but not agreeing with too much enthusiasm. Perhaps she was right. Maybe someone they saw would have seen his father, or even be their father.

Since Nyarl had agreed, and Ilizi had suggested the idea, Drogon didn't see anything wrong with going that way.

Nearby, Hrafn changed his course as well. He had come with, though at this very portion of the trip he had been flying a bit higher. He hadn't quite been wanting to mix with the vultures, as they could be quite rude fliers, but since that's where the group was going now... He had little interest in being left behind.

As expected, by the time they neared the carcass the vultures were circling, there were already others gathering. Not just lions, either, Ilizi noted, with a strange sort of relief. The lions of the Nergui could be insufferable at the best of times and to be close to other species was nice...somehow. Her nose twitching, she eyed the vultures as they hesitated to land at seeing the massing of the predators below.

But they wouldn't be nervous forever.

She skittered across to the carcass - a wildebeest by the looks of its tattered remains - and set a paw against its hip bone. There was not much meat left. Only a few stringy scraps left clinging to its skeleton. The early scavengers had already been and gone, by the looks of it. "If your father was here." She said quietly. "Then he's not here now." Her head snapped up, scouring the nearby land for any signs of life.

"Hey! Are there any locals around here?"
PostPosted: Wed Oct 17, 2012 7:40 am

Saiorse watched the small gathering curiously. The last time she happened upon a gathering it had turned into quite the adventure, and she couldn't help but be hopeful that she might happen upon something of the same sort again. The lioness sniffed the air, a familiar scent catching her nose. Her little friend, Courage! She couldn't say she cared for the maned wolf much, but it was rare that she ran into any one individual so often. You might say it had left the lioness with a certain partiality to the creature, if you used the word lightly enough. Or maybe the lioness felt a certain sort of guilt for the heavy slap that had so abruptly introduced the two. Regardless, the lioness would never admit to either--whichever it might have been. Her ears perked as someone hollared, and the magenta lioness debated. If they were yelling like that, there was little doubt that they'd be on the offensive, but it also meant that they were likely confidant enough to reveal their presence to such an extent. The lioness stood, her bright pelt a splash of color in the late summer grasses. "I wouldn't say I'm a local," These lions, and the hybrid, smelled strange. Smelled foreign, and more so than any others she had encountered. "...But I might be a bit more local than you lot." She watched the small bunch, moreso than the others she had seen gathering. There was something about them she didn't trust, but the lioness didn't trust many to begin with.

The black and gold lioness soon arrived, spying the... Very pink girl and three familiar faces. Aah, Kaar Oma's little ones... Not so little now, anyway. And their... Cousin... She wasn't sure about the hybrid, really. Hybrids were... Odd to her. The pride she'd come from had seen no purpose to hybrids, and often killed them purely out of pity for their half-breed nature. While Nuri found them odd, though, she simply expressed a neutral attitude at them. As she got closer, she gave Kaar Oma's children a s**t-eating grin. "Well look who I found HERE! Drogon and Nyarl!" She eyed Ilizi. "And your cousin." Her attention turned back to the brothers. "What brings you out this way? And who might you be?" She gave the pink lioness a pointed look, as if challenging her.

When Xavier got close, he did something he didn't normally do. He hid from the present lions. Or he tried to - Vunde and Baa landing on his back made him step out, trying to shake them off. He gave them both a glare and a hiss, "Do you mind?" Vunde only gave him a grin as best a vulture could; Baa seemed indifferent. He then looked over at the gathered lions, tilting his head and lifting his chin. "It would appear, we are all 'ere for the... Remains of the carcass, yes?" He wasn't really, it was more curiosity from the disguised god.

Baa shifted, hopping up onto Xavier's head. She looked at him with a critical eye, before pecking an ear. "Baa!" He shook her off and she fluttered to the ground, looking quite indignant for it. After a moment, she fluttered back up. "Graos Oma sent spies, find truth in visions..!" She clacked her beak, then jumped off Xavier's head, flying over and landing on Ilizi's head. After a moment of fluttering her feathers, she pecked at the hybrid's ears. "Half-lion nice, Baa like!" She then made a rude gesture at Drogon. "Bird eater!" Back on Xavier's back, Vunde only hid his face in his wings...

Nyarl wasn't one for pleasantries. As soon as they'd been identified, the smiling nature of the female was more than enough to get him bent out of shape. He slunk around so that Drogon was at his flank, mumbling something in nergui under his breath. Some might have called him a coward. Nyarl saw it as self preservation.

Mau, quite to the contrary, was suddenly finding himself strangled by family relations. Soon enough, mom would come flapping by at this rate! This wasn't just Nyarl and his sibling's first test outside of the lands. Mau had a job to do, and he didn't want the bumbling antics of anyone, family or not, messing that up.

"Should question the dog," the little raven muttered, peering just over Nyarl's ear. "They've always got their nose to something."

Nyarl crinkled his snout. "We're looking for someone. He might be in danger."

It was a lie, of course. But the best way to find someone quickly.

Okay, let's get searching...

User Image

As I don't think we'll be getting more entrants than there are squares, it would probably work best if you tried not to choose a square someone else has already chosen. [We'll cross the bridge of what happens if more people do turn up if the situation arises].

During your next post you may pick one square [example: B3]. I will then be rolling a number for the X axis and Y axis to get the winner.

Edit: just a small OOC comment on which square you picked is absolutely fine!

----------

Ilizi sniffed, pointedly ignoring Nuri as she turned to look at the small gabble of people around them. None of them looked particularly useful. "More local than us will have to do. As Nyarl said, we're looking for someone. He's--uh..." What did Tomorbaatar look like again? It had been so long since Ilizi had glimpsed him and it had never been more than the briefest of glimpses in any case.

"He's blue-grey." She ended at last. "Mostly blue-grey. With some...scars." She was pretty sure that he'd had scars, he wouldn't have been as highly esteemed without some sort of disfigurement.
PostPosted: Sat Oct 20, 2012 6:05 am

Drogon might have considered trying to talk nice and getting some information, but he didn't really think any of those around here right now would know anything. He wasn't at all nervous about this situation, though, and looked pretty relaxed as he looked over those they had stumbled upon.

He couldn't really offer his opinion on what the lion they were searching for looked like, since Drogon had never met his father. So for the time being he just nodded and agreed, without much to add to the conversation. "The sooner we find him the better." Duh.

...What was she doing here, anyways? He had no idea why one of the Braak was so far south and away from the rest of the Nergui, when only he, his brother and his cousin had been sent out to find Tömörbaatar and the other Shuko. Her meddling was not appreciated, though at the time being the lioness did outrank him and he probably shouldn't go about telling her to get lost. Particularly now, with an audience of outsiders they were trying to get help from. Drogon didn't say anything to her and kept his expression neutral, but briefly glanced at his brother.

He also ignored Baa's comment. Out of the birds that hung around the Nergui, she seemed a particularly stupid one. But Drogon was well past his days of hunting birds for training, and now was not the time and place for it anyways.

-

Now that they were stopped, Hrafn preferred to be up close enough to listen, and he circled down until he could land beside Drogon's paws, clearly not bothered by the young lion like his younger half sister was. He didn't say anything, but was clearly interested in hearing what was going on.

(Edit, wasn't sure if I should be doing this. xD I'd go with A4)

Ruyken had heard the scuffles and muted sound of voices from some distance away. usually this wouldn't have bothered him, but the noises had gradually been getting closer, growing loud enough to identify the voices separately, proving that the group was sizable enough to possibly cause him trouble, and that is was a mix of both genders and species.. Baring his teeth the red and black leopard stirred where he lay high up in the branches of an old sun-blasted tree. Yet it seemed the group was determined in coming right to where he rested and no way was he going to stick around and leave himself open as a target if they took an interest in him. He was still damned sore from the fight with that stupid rogue earlier... and while he was confident he could take on almost any group, he didn't see the point of inviting such an irritation while he wasn't in the mood for it.

Shifting onto his belly he looked out over the landscape then with barely a twinge despite his injuries, he dropped agilely to the ground, heading off at a right angle from where they were coming from.

(Not sure how to add it into the IC post, so can I just pick C3.)
