Halith had begun to take on a healthy, almost surreal kind of glow to her color in the last week or so. It hadn't taken her sharp-eyed rider long to notice (a few candlemarks) or to know what was going on (a matter of seconds). The last week had been spent containing more snappish remarks and bouts of the desire to be close to others than Cetalese could ever remember having in her entire life.

The event itself came about mid-afternoon, when Ceta had convinced herself to break away from the work she was doing (with encouragement from D'lin-- okay, mostly because D'lin ordered her to) and had gone to get lunch. Sitting in the mess hall, surrounded by other riders and weyrfolk who were also gathered there, Cetalese felt Halith suddenly surge to the forefront of her consciousness with a primal presence that could only have been a sign that she was about to Rise.

Cetalese closed her eyes, setting her fork down, and when she opened them again all of the tension that had resided in her frame for the last week drained out of her. It was inevitable, as she had kept telling herself. Now it was time to actually get it over with. Cetalese took a deep breath, looked around at the other riders in the mess hall, at least half of whom were glancing her way, and quickly rose. Her feet carried her to the door, her mind already half with Halith as the Green flew to the herdbeast pens to select a snack or two to keep her going in her Flight. She wasn't going to be surrounded in the mess hall. The closer to her weyr she could get, the shorter the walk would be for the man who eventually had to carry her off somewhere private.

Several riders she passed turned to watch her go, but others didn't seem to notice her at all as she headed back in the direction of the rider weyrs. Cetalese wanted to wish Halith luck, but the words died in her mind before she even got them out. Regardless, Halith seemed to sense them and responded anyway.

I will Fly well, mine. These males with their raging horomones won't know how to catch me and they'll have to work their tails off trying! Just watch! Her voice rang in Cetalese's mind even as a set of several loud, echoing bugles called the males of the Weyr to try their luck.

The sense of Halith took over Cetalese completely.

((This is a closed Flight, meaning the participants have already been invited and no other dragons will be permitted to enter the Chase. For those participating: This is Halith's first Flight. Her rider is Cetalese, a Hold-born girl for whom this will be not only the first time experiencing a Flight, but the first time experiencing sex in general. If your dragon wins, a post-Flight rp is a must! This is going to tie in to her evolving story and character. Who wins and how they interact with her afterward will be important. I may even hit you up for more rp beyond the post-Flight rp, if you don't mind. ;3))

D'lin had noticed Halith's growing shine probably before Ceta herself did but at the risk of panicking her before she had to panic he'd decided not to mention it and so he was not surprised when the Shriek of a rising green filled the air one afternoon as he walked towards the mess. The sound brought him to a standstill as he reached for Plexith.

'It is Halith' The bronze confirmed before his rider even had time to ask and D'lin had a few moments in which to reflect on the future before Plexith's determination began to take over.

'You will chase?'

'She is my favorite green, another will not touch her' The bronze determined with a vicious tinge to his voice before he answered her shriek with a warning bugle of his own and shot after her.

D'lin was left to head towards Ceta's hut - the place he knew she would instinctively go to, his dragons angry determination ringing through his mind and mixing with his own trepidation until his face wore a steely mask.

Asoth had been watching Halith as soon as she began glowing, he never missed the chance to show off and chasing Greens was the best way he could do that. When Halith headed to the herdbeast pens Asoth was ready and he blooded his own kills along with the other dragons. He was unperturbed by the Bronzes, they were Bronze. It was the Blues and the Brown he was more concerned about. Well no matter, he was ASOTH He would show Halith who was the best.

When he felt the shift in Asoth's mood M'lan looked towards Ceta, he knew his brown had been watching. He swallowed hard and fought the urge to get up right away and follow after her when she got up. He forced himself to sit, drink his Klah and swallow a few mouthfulls of his lunch before he got up. "Asoth... don't do anything stupid will you"

I Will show her that i am best, not those Bronzes... not the blues or any other brown. Asoth, is the best and i will show her! came the reply, then nothing as Halith rose, Asoth roared after the Bronze who had taken off before he'd had time to react. He leapt up and beat his wings hard to catch up to the green.

"Wah?" Xan blinked awake from a doze and sat up, pushing her mane of black curls out of her face. "What was that- Oh!" A green was rising! Springing off her bunk Xan stretched and rolled her shoulders.

Exiting her weyr, or the weyr she was sharing at the moment at any rate, Xan licked her lips as Opeth blooded a kill.

will be victorious,> Opeth snapped, raising his bloodied face and screeching a challenge to the other males as he launched himself into the air.

Xan grinned, quickening her pace as she felt herself drawn towards the green's rider.

Z'fer was in the middle of enjoying a casual conversation with a few riders from Malvren when the rush of feeling washed over him. It didn't take the seasoned rider long to realize a green was rising. He didn't even bother excusing himself from the table when a woman wearing green knots rose and left the hall. They were riders, even if they weren't joining the flight they'd understand.

Calanoth's eyes whirled with lustful energy as he hovered near the edge of the feeding grounds. The dark green before him was exquisite and her challenging bugles were answered with a deep brassy roar from the large bronze. Let the other males think they were worthy! Calanoth would not let another get the best of him today. No, this little beauty would be his.

The surroundings barely registered on Z'fer's consciousness as he blindly followed the green rider towards her weyr. Others were joining him but at the moment he paid them no heed. Should they get in his way things may change but for now they didn't matter. Only Cetalese and her green mattered at the moment.

Halith looked behind her at the array of colors forming the jagged pack of dragons chasing her. Bronzes and Browns and Blues! Many Blues! Oh, some of them were agile... but she did not really know any of them. The Browns... and Plexith. Them she recognized. The other Bronze she knew vaguely, but she didn't know how good of a show he would put on. Well, they would have to catch up to her first!

She bugled a brassy challenge at them after Brumath had put in his own call. She remembered him, faintly, from meetings before. Pretty words, pretty words! But it's your skills that will impress Halith! I'd like to see you keep up with me! Her voice was sultry as well as playful, and she immediately folded her wings and went into a sharp spiral toward the ground-- which wasn't that far away.

HALITH.

The distant, dim thought startled her into opening her wings and catching an updraft that carried her higher again, away from the ground that could have made this a very short Flight indeed. The moment was gone as quickly as it had come, however, and Halith was suddenly flying much more swiftly than she had been initially, shooting out ahead of her persuers and making up for the distance lost by her little stunt.

I'm not seeing anything impressive! she called back, crooning almost sweetly as she glanced at them again, her eyes the rich purple of lust.

Asoth grumbled, he was no closer than any of the other males to Halith. Did she not see how brilliantly awesome he was? He bugled, and did a little rolling spin then bugled again. Did she see how clever he was? how GOOD he was? .. she should be watching HIM... not any of the other males, Asoth was the best... he would show her.

M'lan groaned as he was jostled with the other riders who's dragons were chasing Halith. He knew Ceta, knew she wasn't really enjoying this... well probably not.

Brumath rumbled, climbing higher with steady powerful wing beats and then turning a ponderously graceful set of barrel rolls as he sought to catch the updraught and follow the young green.

Down on the ground F'itz had located the weyr. He was vaguely aware of other riders arriving, some of them jostling in a most uncouth manner. Flaring his nostrils the grey-haired rider folded his hands behind his back and waited. It was all in the dragons, and he was his dragon, and they did not stoop to petty squabbling.

Plexith eyes whirled with challenge as other dragons joined in the chase, did they not know she was his? Did they dare think they were as good as he? Apparently some of them did - and a brown had managed to draw closer while he took a gander at the competition. No matter the bronze told himself - plenty of time yet, energetic Halith was sure to fly long.

Folding his wings he dove after her - picking up speed in the dive in an effort to catch her. 'Don not let these lessers think they have a chance.' Plexith crooned to the green. 'Come to your Plexith, I am all you need'

D'lin might have sighed at his dragons vanity - if he were still himself, as it were the dragons words seemed more then accurate and he urged his bronze on.

Opeth hissed, streaking past Brumath and swiping with his claws to leave a set of fine scratches on the bigger dragon's shoulder.

Xan licked her lips and flexed her hands, an uncharacteristic snarl flashing across her face as her mind mingled ever more with Opeth's. Stupid big lump, what did he have that they didn't, and what did the bronzes have? Nothing. They were slow, fat, and spoiled; they would lose!

Skills and daring Calanoth could do. ~ You will find none more skilled than I Halith! Just try and lose me!~ He loved playful greens they were so much better than the nervous or sedate kind. A flight was all the more interesting when the prize became the competition as well!

Calanoth dove towards the ground after her. No warning call came from his rider as the dragon followed the green's dangerous stunt. Risks and the accompanying adrenaline were nothing but old friends to the bronze. His wings snapped open with a thunderous clap as he craned his neck upwards, following her ascent. She was fast, faster than many he'd flown. All the more delicious of a challenge. She would tire herself and her lesser pursuers out long before he even needed a second wind.

Broad wingbeats took him higher and just to prove his point he banked his wings, flipping into a backwards roll that took him below the main pack. This early in the flight he could afford to spend a little speed and distance to earn the green's interest. His enthusiastic crooning questioned if she'd seen his trick? ~ Pretty Halith we will fly circles around these clumsy dragons!~

Now they were trying! Halith let them, twirling through the air in a response to Brumath's own barrel rolls, glancing beneath herself to make sure they were watching-- and see if they were following. Velath had said this was fun-- and today would be Halith's day to have all of the fun with none of the work!

Asoth's bellows reminded her of the males rather than the sheer joy of flight, and she turned in time to catch his roll. She replied with a bugle of her own, all too happy to reply to any kind of vocalization.

Several of the dragons stood out to her now, taking her challenge and working with it. A Blue, Opeth, was clearly agile and willing to win, though the vicious swipe he aimed at Brumath did not appeal to her in the slightest. Where was the fun if you hurt one another? Halith's eyes moved on, but though Plexith was following steadily, his moves were overshadowed. Where once she might have called him to do better, because she knew he could, now she looked beyond him to a large, equally boldly marked Bronze. Calanoth's beautiful flip had certainly earned him points with her and Halith went so far as to imitate it herself before sweeping off to the right in a sharp turn-- not so graceful, but enough to keep the boys on their toes.
PostPosted: Mon Oct 15, 2012 3:44 pm

The blue's strike was more or less ignored; Brumath was solid, and Brumath was accustomed to the foolish tempers of other dragons. They like a fire would burn out swiftly, and he like a mountain would stand solid and unshaken.

She was swift indeed, and he had never been swift and was not now as swift as he had been once upon a time. And how long now until He and His paid for that with silvered screams? He could see why many of his BendenKin thought the new colours an ill omen. White, as your eyes flash in danger. Black, the chill of between. Red of rage filled eyes, and of human blood. Silver. Silver death.

Perhaps distracted by his dark thoughts, or perhaps just not swift enough to keep up with the green Brumath failed to gain ground on the radiant green and found himself assessing the rest in the chase.
