It was that same darkness which another soul lingered the solemn atmosphere, for this mare it was along side the creek which snaked its way through the woodlands. She wasn't sure entirely why she couldn't sleep as of late, her days long and lifeless that perhaps her body desired to become nocturnal so she could at least get some excitement. Long had been the days since she'd seen her family, her parents often together or apart for short times while her mother took to the skies and her father trained relentlessly. Even her sister the amazon type warrior she was striving to get stronger and better, her brother....well she didn't have very much of a bond with him and it had been even longer since their last meet.
Zaiella did occasionally visit her other family, for a lack of anything better to do. Occasionally she pondered about who'd she'd met on her travels and wonder faintly how they were fairing...but that was all it was.
"Have I really...done nothing?" She sighed, no longer young as she was getting on in her years, and the mare couldn't recall anything spectacular she'd done at all. How boring was she? Although she saw a good chunk of the lands...she'd been alone. She didn't come from a broken home, or a hard life...it was simply solitary, and she often felt that maybe she was destined for a quiet life.
She was a wind who couldn't fly, so she assumed in a way she brought it upon herself that she found walking everywhere boring and could not find kinship in those around her. Why would any other winds desire to have a companion who couldn't share the skies and go on grand adventures? It would be stripping others of their joys to make friends with those of her kind...and she often passed by those on the ground thanks to her hours of being awake in the night.
None the less she continued on as the moonlight played along her light pelt and wings tucked against her sides. Her ears kept alert as she knew often or not the night wasn't entirely safe at what lurked in the darkness. None the less the mare hummed softly to herself as her light frame walked steadily along the shore line; her song slow like a lullaby to the night itself. She was sure morning would be in an hour or so, and perhaps then she would head to higher ground to watch the sunrise.
Zaiella often found herself swooning over the stunning colours.

A pale shape lay as if dead on the ground besides a few trees. The one visible wing was stretched out, covering the hind hooves ducked in close to the stomach, all the muscles in the feathery limb relaxed. There was even a tiny blanket of leaves covering the equine like the body had been there for a while, but untouched by predators. The only signs of life was the steady and slow rising of the chest.
To the left of the pale shape came a scurrying sound. From up one of the trees scampered down a little chipmunk, a nut held between its over-sized teeth. It stood on its hind legs a few moments, nose twitching as the head moved this way and that in search of anything that would pounce out and end its happy little life. When it found none, it returned to all fours to run towards the pale shape on the ground.
The tail shifted at the feel of the sharp little nails of the rodent, the stallion's nose twitching in irritation at the disturbed sleep. He slowly awoke, raising his head to stare at the chipmunk now staring at him in surprise at the 'rock' coming alive.
"Yeah. It's alive. Now it would greatly love it if you could find someone else to stand on." And he grinned at the chipmunk in a way that managed to be both an approachable smile and a fake one until the rodent scurried away into the fading light of the moon.
"Well, since I've been graced with a wake-up call, I might as well start the day," Ezekiel muttered, raising himself to his feet and shaking away the leaves. A few here and there clung to his wings, which he momentarily ignored, not knowing they were there. He smacked his lips in dryness, sniffing the air for any bodies of water close by. With the scent of the water came the scent of another Soq to his nostrils. Forgetting his thirst, the stallion pricked his ears in interest and followed the scent until he was close enough to give a rather loud "Good morning, neighbor!"

The sounds of the night were really something else, while it had its own orchestra of music, it was also lulled, and with the added tune of her humming she could have been lost in the melody for some time. It may have also been the reason she did not notice the company she shared with ever approaching in that same lull of night. Her strides remained momentous but never rushed...well, until her ears flicked up and her eyes widened.
"Iee!" She yelped, her wings flaring out of pure instinct alone as she tried to leap and turn at the same time; only to entangle her own legs and crumble to the ground with a large thud and a upheaval of leaves.
Coughing twice and blowing the dust which had formed on her face she looked behind her to the form emerging from the trees; at first she could have sworn from his pure and soft colours he was in fact a ghost. Yet as his frame ever approached she could see he was not spectral...just beautifully lit up in the glow of the descending moon. Slowly did the fear replace with a sense of wonder on her face and more predominantly, confusion.
Why was he calling to her?
Why was someone like he even out on a night as this? Same could be said for her, but solitary knew no bounds.
"G-good...Morning..." She spoke, rising from the ground and shaking her body of dust and debris. Looking to the stallion, she tilted her head a little to the left as the distance had closed between them. "May I...help you?"
Good grief, she was certainly rusty on social-ness.

Ezekiel tilted his head, as well, equally confused by her reactions to his greeting. It hadn't occurred to him what affect his pale form would have on others when emerging from the shadows as he had. He glowed like a firefly.Or, indeed, like a ghost. Quite a startling sight when one was caught unawares. Then again, it was no surprise he was oblivious to how he appeared to the mare. Not often did he wake before the sun was even out. Just as his prism colors suggested, Ezekiel was a day Soq. He loved the morning. Loved the feel of the sun beating down on his back and warming his body. He was already finding this darker light a little chilly.
He moved a little closer, a small smile touching his lips as the shared confusion was quickly forgotten. He shifted his wings so they dipped closer to the ground to cover his stomach, offering their warmth to keep him from shivering. It might not even be that cold out to others, but just the feel of the darkness on him gave him the shivers down to his bones.
"No," was the simple answer as he shifted his feet a little in discomfort. The fact he scared her and her hesitation to return the greeting made him wonder if he was bothering her by being in her space of the forest. Perhaps she didn't want company and he was intruding. Or she had some jealous mate who was returning any time soon. He prayed for it being the first if it was one of those options.
"Just being friendly. I'm sorry for giving you a fright. Do you live around here?"Quote: I'll do one more before bed.

As his body was within only a short distance of her own, Zaiella watched him and his body language very closely. It seemed she had made him uncomfortable...she couldn't blame him though - he'd only said hello and she'd had a fit right down to the ground. Using her wing to push some hair from her eyes, she wished him not to know she'd only had a small number of souls approach her and wish to converse. Both of which, she hadn't seen in a number of years now and had fallen out of touch.
"I'm sorry...I'm more than a little jumpy in the night, so to have such a boisterous and wonderful hello well...you sure surprised me!" Her own smile came back, one she had shared exclusively with her dear family. "Now I see that was a very good thing."
Shaking her head so her hair swayed in the departing night, she could see the sun begin to brighten the sky behind him; usually she would be heading off to have a bite to eat before resting the day away - but she figured if it was company he seek then she would be happy to supply.
It wasn't like it happened often anyways.
"No, I don't. My family lives over at the base of the eastern mountains, probably a day or two away walking. I just wander!" Zaiella smiled, adjusting her wings against her side. "How about you? Are you from around here? Lost perhaps?" Taking note of his mane, she made a mental revelation she'd never met anyone as colourful as he, and of course the wings on his side.
He probably fits in well up in the clouds.. She pondered.

Ezekiel's smile broadened as his discomfort was allowed to slowly dissolve until it was completely gone. He might be the kind of creature who always found a way to make his presence known, but he prided himself in not forcing his company on others when they wished to be alone. Even if he didn't always notice right away when those times were. He was not known for being overly observant. Not unless it was staring him in the face or someone told him.
So now that he knew this wouldn't be the case, he felt he was free to be as social as he liked. The pale stallion was certainly not trying to hide his pleasure at meeting someone new. His head even raised itself higher, where it had been hanging a little at the thought of disturbing the mare.
Tail swaying slowly from side to side like a content cat, Ezekiel shrugged his pale shoulders, telling her with his body language it was no big deal, everyone had their moments.
"I'm jumpy at night, myself. You never know what's lurking in the shadows and with me being so bright."
At the next comments, the stallion lowered his neck, stretching out one foreleg to make a bow of thanks at the compliment. One wing stretched out to grace the grass at his hooves. While still bent, he added," "I do try my best. It pleases me to know it went over well." He straightened back up, flicking the wing towards the sky a few before folding it back against his side. He so loved being half Wind. Wings were like two extra limbs! How creatures without wings functioned, he had no idea.
Here Ezekiel shrugged once more. "I wander as well, I suppose. I don't have one place to call my own. No need to stay in one single place."
The rays of the sun behind him caught in the corner of his eyes. Turning around, he watched the sunrise for a few short seconds. "That's one bonus to being awoken by a chipmunk."

"That is quite a night time disadvantage!" Zaiella smiled, taking a few steps closer to his side as he had turned to look at the sunrise; and she took a good look at him. She couldn't help but admire him, for both his kind outgoing nature as well as his pelt. She remembered some of the souls she would see when she used to remain in the day and only then, their pelts so beautiful and bright. Zaiella thought hers too was bright, but being all she knew she felt somewhat plain; yet it suited her personality unlike her brighter siblings so...it was good for her.
To be like him though....maybe I would have attracted more of a gathering of my own? She thought momentarily.
"Its for good reason though, there are some awful creatures out at this hour. Its fortunate to be such a good runner!" She beamed, stretching a little on her legs. Walking everywhere, all the time gave her long lasting running abilities since it was all she could rely on.
"You as well?" Tilting her head and looking over to him, she pondered perhaps if she was wrong. "You wouldn't have strike me as the solitary type." Usually the wandering types were more like....well, her! Nervous about others, no excitement, that sort of thing. "Is it simply you have yet to settle down as they like to say?"
Settling down seemed to be what her family did best, she had heard stories from her grandfather on how vast the family had really become. It amazed her and frightened her at the same time, just how big did her family stretch to?
"A chipmunk?" Zaiella blinked at him, before bursting out in a fit of giggles. "I don't think I've heard that before...usually its being woken up by songbirds!" Finding her breath, although she still felt the heat of laughter in her throat, she found the means to dip her head gently towards him in greeting. "I'm afraid I didn't even introduce myself. My name is Zaiella..." She said warmly, she knew her family taught her better with her manners than to converse with someone who had yet to learn her name!

Ezekiel continued to watch the sunrise, his eyes trailing across the many colors that appeared as the sun emerged from behind the mountains like a hide-and-seeker who had been found and wasn't willing to accept defeat. When the sun hit certain surfaces, like the spray of a waterfall, he was reminded of his own coat. The faded rainbow of colors that made up his mane. It always mesmerized him when he happened to be awake before the sun was. Not in an egotistical way. Having the same colors as the rainbows in the sky made it easy for them to draw his attention in. Like others of the same names are to each other.
The mare's comment about running made him finally turn his head around. Through his vision of pink, his eyes would have portrayed the curiosity he felt. If not for the forelock covering them. He didn't seem bothered by her being a little closer to him, quite oblivious to what she had been previously doing. His eyes trailed to her wings, finding it naturally strange for a creature with wings to prefer to run from enemies. Being half Wind, he didn't spend as much time in the air as a full Wind would have due to getting tired quicker, but he still took to the skies when he could if danger approached.
Except for when the humans caught him as a foal.
Would it be rude of him to ask about her wings? She could have some disability she was sensitive about. He didn't want to upset her when he just met her. Or maybe she was just afraid of heights. Pity. It was such a beautiful world up there.
He choose to keep his mouth shut.
"That is a bonus!" he answered with much the same amount of enthusiasm, feeding off her cheery mood. "I always take the lazy way out and fly away. Like a cowardly songbird."
The uncomfortable shifting began as Ezekiel was unintentionally reminded of the reasons he was currently a solitary creature. He wasn't sure where his family was. And couldn't seem to locate them. He supposed by now they had all moved on somewhere beyond his reach.
"Not by my own choice. And I guess I haven't." Here he shrugged, again, showing this didn't really bother him. Though it was partly faked. Poorly. He did indeed want to find his place in the world and stop his wandering. "I have no special someone anywhere, at any rate. At least I don't think so." He wrinkled his muzzle at his own joke, chuckling softly at the dryness of it. "I assume you are the same? Aside your family, that is."
"Yes! It scurried on me and woke me up! I guess it thought I was a funny pile of leaves." The alicorn joined in the moment of merriment, adding his voice to hers until he also calmed down. It was rather funny, now that he looked back on it. "Oh! I am Ezekiel Doveling." A name he thought was appropriate to add to his first name, given the kindness of one little boy at the human's camp who had nicknamed him that. "I prefer Ezekiel. Zaiella," he tested on his tongue, never before hearing a Z name on his travels. "It's pretty. As you are, my dear." For all his silliness, he wanted to give a nice compliment for putting up with him this long. A truthful compliment. He found her colors very complimentary to each other and pleasing to the eye.Tirokio Tag for you. And his background for me to pick through at work. <3

Much like her new companion, Zaiella found her eyes wandering every so often as the sun drifted over new bits of land; creating beautiful scenery with hues of gold and rainbow. It was the part of her day she favored most just like the sunset, so full of beautiful colour and the dawning of a new time...be it night or morning. Now would be the time the world would come to life once again, and she would usually drift into slumber from a long night of wandering.
Turning her head back to Ezekiel when he began to speak, she smiled and often did think of it as a bit of a bonus. She'd heard from her mother that the legs of some winds became weak with so much flying...where she had turned to be polar opposite. It also gave her the ability to go anywhere quickly in any condition...storms and gale winds had nothing on her legs. Yet there was that final statement, that last muttering that had her eyes widen...almost in panic as she couldn't hold back her sudden outburst.
"That's not true!" She spoke, her face altered in very real concern. "There is nothing cowardly about flying, nor do I think it is any easy task to take to the skies!"
Catching herself a moment later, her face flushed as her gaze immediately dropped. "I'm s-sorry...what I mean...what I mean to say is for those who can fly...they should. Its not something for the light of heart and is truly, truly amazing.." Her eyes drifted up to the skies for a second or two, dire longing swimming in those ironically sky blue orbs of hers. "I can only imagine the wonders you've seen up there."
Zaiella did notice that he became rather fidgety, perhaps she had said something she wasn't supposed to? When she listened patiently to him after her outburst, the mare was a little taken back that his words held...what she could have passed off as sorrow. She knew full well very few enjoyed being alone, just like herself, but his attitude showed her that if he could still be willing to give such kindness and smiles that he was a strong stallion indeed.
She had a feeling he would find happiness, the spirits couldn't drag someone with his heart for long before gifting him good luck.
Shaking her head, she smiled warmly...although she had been blessed again and again with a growing family; she never seemed to have met that 'one' that so many searched for. "I'm sure that someone is out there though! I guess for some like us it just takes a little longer to find them." Flicking her tail, she let out a small bit of laughter at her own thoughts, before sharing them aloud. "I am very much the same. I do have a very large family though, who it seems every time I return there are always new faces to meet. Its nice, but I can't hang around forever...I too need to find my own place out here in the world...but I wasn't aware it was going to be so big when I had set off!"
Not to mention, lonely.
"You would be the most colourful pile of leaves I had ever seen." The mare smiled, rather enjoying his laughter as it sounded so merry. "Ezekiel it is then!" Zaiella wondered if it was common to have a last name, like he, but had little time to dwell on it before he spoke once more. At such a compliment her face lit up in a bright red like the leaves on the ground, she couldn't recall the last time someone had said something so nice to her aside from her family. Usually the compliments went to her sister that she could recall for such a bold pelt colouring of navy and near sunset. It caught her so offguard, she wasn't aware she hadn't said anything while painfully aware of the thudding of her heart in her chest.
"T-thank you!" She stammered, turning her head and offering a smile despite her redness. "You are simply too kind, Ezekiel." Hoshi Lockhart Tag! :3 Backstories are fun! xD

Ezekiel recoiled slightly in the outburst, more out of surprise than anything else. It had been quiet up until that point, just a friendly meeting in the woods. Not sure how to respond, the stallion merely went a little red in the face from the comment about his actions not being cowardly in the eyes of another. It always struck him as cowardly, but it was always the first instinct he had when danger approached. He was a Uni. He could fight back with his horn. Why did he have to run away all the time like a skittish rabbit or deer?
The prism colored Uni went to clear his throat, only to have his attempts scratch against his insides uncomfortably. Reminding him he still had a dry throat that was getting dryer by the minute. Not wanting to seem rude, but not being able to take it anymore, Ezekiel walked past her with a faint "Excuse me" to the stream he could hear. The action of wetting his throat also gave him a chance to think about his response. It would seem he had struck a chord despite his efforts to avoid doing so. Maybe she did have a disability and his mention of flying had painfully made it clear to her. For that he was truly sorry.
Once he felt full of the water, the stallion raised his head, licking the drops off his lips before turning back around to Zaiella. His cheeks still held a faint hint of the blush. He regarded her for a few moments while he struggled internally about bringing up the matter or not.
In the end, he couldn't resist. His need to make everyone happy over-rode his common sense.
"That is a better way of looking at it," he agreed seriously, swallowing the lump in his throat out of nervousness of continuing. Can you not fly?'"
His smile returned as the conversation progressed, the feeling of kinship with a soul similar to yourself. "Far too many out there for us to be alone forever. But I'm in no rush." He shook his head, the curls at the end of his mane bouncing against his neck. "One can't remain with their parents all the time, no. If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to keep you company. I'm not too thrilled with continuing my journey to nowhere by myself, anyway."Tirokio They are! And provide such fun when they resurface to throw them for a loop. <3 Ezekiel's should be fun.

Oh dear. Oh dear oh dear. She'd gone and said something unnecessary didn't she? As she watched with baited breath as he tried to speak, to as it seemed to her try and reply to her...the anxiety she felt nearly doubled when he'd really said nothing at all. Even so much as turn away with nothing but a polite excuse of his to be absence. She'd scared him off, she was sure of it.
Once she was able to see his back she'd allowed her ears to slide back against her skull and turn her gaze down to her hooves. Was her father's brashness really so embedded in her that she'd strike out like that? It had never really happened before and was new all together. However, so was someone who'd stuck around for so long who wasn't family. Perhaps she really had been too zealous on her means to make companionship with at least one soul to ease the ache in her heart. Yet...he turned around! Zaiella hadn't noticed he'd only but gone a short distance to get a drink...and had once more began to speak.
Oh, how she realized she hadn't been ever this excited to hear someone speak up than at this very moment. She'd have to try harder to make sure he enjoyed her company as much as she was enjoying his...this polite, wonderful stallion before her. Yet then it came, that fundamental question. While she wasn't exactly hiding her inability, it wasn't something she was thrilled to say to one who could fly.
"I...well..." She stammered, her wings moving up to press against her chest as if ti hug herself. "I'm sure that I can fly...in theory..." Looking back straight into the eyes of the stallion she gave the most sheepish of smiles. "However...I don't know how. I did fly once or twice with my mother...but I stopped...because I didn't want to leave my grounded father or siblings. I suppose...I refused to fly." Plain and simple...and to this day, now that she wanted to her memory refused to recall any of the two lessons her mother tried to teach her.
It was simply...gone.
"The rest of my most immediate family, aunts, uncles grandparents....they too are groundlings. So...I'm a wind who simply refused...and now I don't know how. I've always made excuses to my family so they think I can, so I can't go and ask my mom to reteach me; that would just be too embarrassing..." With a small sigh at the end, she added; "So...that's why. I've never...quite told anyone before."
With the promise of lighter conversation she did smile, nodding her head in agreement. "That's true! Rather a long wait for the right one than many wrongs." Or so she told herself, anyways. Then, came something shocking to her ears as her eyes widened and she looked infinitely surprised. "You...want to travel with me?" Was she hearing him right? After all this time...it took one soul to change so much, however it was her turn to blush...this time out of pure joy and the pounding of her excited heart.
"I...I would really, really like that Ezekiel. I've never had a companion before who wanted to spend so much time with me." Oh, but in a companionship...it was more of a opportunity to merge time and skills together too. What could she offer? Breaking into a big smile as she thought of one thing she began to laugh merrily once more. "Well then, I promise not to let anything else mistake you for foliage then while we travel!"

The pale wings of the stallion fluttered a little in response to Zaiella, spreading themselves out wide as he moved closer, back to the distance he was at before he had moved for a drink. They stretched out to either sides of Ezekiel, bending down a little as a wing will do when it's stretching out the stiffness. They brushed the ends of the grass, rustling the leaves before curling back up on his sides. Like the mere thought of flying was too tempting for them to resist.
In truth, the thought of flying was tempting to the stallion. The way the world looked from above was intoxicating. The range at which he could see. The other Soq like ants interacting on the ground. It was almost enough to wish he was full Wind. Almost. He was proud of his Uni roots and his ability to heal.
"Oh," was all the alicorn could think of to say. That wasn't something he had ever had a problem with. The humans had naturally never allowed him to fly. Since escaping, he had taught himself how to in order to get away from danger. He thought Zaiella's reason was rather noble. There was no better reason for anything than one's own family. He felt no less respect for her for refusing to.
Instead, he whistled. "Those are a lot of Ground." Taking one step closer, Ezekiel inclined his head, lowering it and tilting it to the side in a gesture of curiosity and sympathy. "You seem like you want to fly, though."
Remaining in the position, he edged closer and tapped his nose against her cheek in a playful, teasing manner at her question, being sure to keep the point of his horn away from her. "Of course. I like you, Zaiella. You seem the kind I could easily consider a friend." Laughing at her joke, he winked at her, barely visible underneath his curtain of pink. "And I could teach you to fly if you really wanted. It's not embarrassing to me."
Straightening up, he closed his eyes and beamed at her, very pleased with himself that his offer had been accepted so well. "Where shall we go first, than, companion Zaiella?"Tirokio I love when characters get along so well. <3 They're adorable. I've been fiddling with his plot post if you were interested. Eventually I'm doing something with the stallion below because they both had some encounter with Kirin/Uni hunters and he now hunts them. Though I killed off most of Ezekiel's captors while writing his background. xD

Little by little the night completely drifted away and they were left pooled in the still cool morning glow of the sun, as all around her she could hear and make note of the world coming out peaceful slumber. Normally, she would be closing her eyes around this time...and although she was awfully tired she dare not stifle a yawn or blink too much. Such precious time this way with her new found companion...friend. Rest was simply over rated now a days anyways.
As she turned her gaze back to him, she could feel the promise of the day's breeze ruffle her pelt and the navy tips of her wings. Her wings ached, and in turn so did her heart...and not the one which remained on the bridge of her nose.
"Yeah...It mostly still is, I know one of my uncles has mated into wings though; I have never met them but know its Kalona. Otherwise I think everyone else I know is on the ground!" Zaiella loved them all though, and could think of no better family than the one she had been blessed with. After all, they had been so supportive despite the fact she'd long fooled them all. Tilting her head down slightly, she nodded her head quietly at first before speaking up afterwards. "I do...I never would have imagined a day would come where I would be lonely here on the ground. I always had a notion that it was lonely up there in the skies, but I was mistaken and since then have held some regret on my choices and fears."
Fears she would have traveled alone for even more years upon years, until today. Zaiella also made note to be thankful for the little chipmunk who had awoken him in the first place. Yet all the thoughts and concerns of what had been was instantly washed away when she noticed just how close he was, practically a step away with his head tilted in such a way to look directly into her eyes. This was also the first time she realized she was shorter than he, nearly by a whole head! She'd been the tiniest out of her family, but usually being this close to another never crossed her mind till now when he gazed at her like that. Once his nose tapped her cheek all of the heat rushed to her face again as she cursed in her mind her sudden ruby complexion - why was it so horribly easy to get her frazzled!
"A friend?" She breathed out, taken back and alleviated by his statement at the same time. They had just become companions! Was it too soon to be thinking friendship? In her heart she had already decided that he was someone who she'd lay everything on the line for....but she also knew she was the type who didn't take anything like that lightly. It was the same for any of her family...and friends, if she had prior ones to draw back on. Yet it all hazed out when he offered to teach her to fly.
"S...s....seriously!?" The mare gaped, before it felt like her heart burst in joy; kicking back with a delighted whinny before pressing her neck against his as her wings came up to press in a hug like motion around his shoulders. "Oh Ezekiel! I would never be able to repay such kindness! Is it horribly selfish for me to take such a offer?" After all, she knew it would take time for her to learn.
Standing back as to give him his space back and quickly returned her wings to where they belonged, she gave a look around before speaking. "Well...We could go find breakfast? The only plans I had was to meet my grandfather in about three moon's time, something about a surprise for me; so I was heading in that direction when I met you." She smiled, tossing the golden locks from her eyes.
Hoshi Lockhart Me too!! I had to aww a few times XD I took a read! Poor fellow!! D8 If Zai can help in any of them let me know, I know she'd be there for after his "Why can't I be happy all the time" if he got down in the dumps. The same couldn't be said for the stallion. As the sun rose more and more in the sky, Ezekiel came more awake. Living by himself always had him going to bed earlier than he would have if he wasn't alone, so he still had plenty of sleep, chipmunk or no chipmunk. Even if he wouldn't have complained to being allowed to sleep a little bit more. His full stomach was giving him a comfort one could only find in the morning. As the world came alive and you were ready to tackle it.
He couldn't help wrinkling his nose slightly at the word 'Kalona.' He didn't like that the reaction came unbidden. He was still young in his life and had never met a Kalona before, but had heard stories while captured by the humans. Usually from the little boy who was kind to him. The boy would stop by and tell Ezekiel stories about the world beyond his paddock with the high fences and tightly locked stall. About all the different breeds. About how the Kalona, aside the Skinwalkers, were the ones known to be the most cruel. Not all, of course, unlike the Skinwalkers. But enough that the little boy would use Kalona in place of Skinwalkers as evil beings in his stories to the lonely little foal with the rainbow mane.
Ezekiel being Ezekiel didn't take the mention of the breed to mean anything bad against this mare he had just met. Even if he couldn't help the motion. He quickly removed the small grimace.
"It's lonely everywhere," the stallion mused, shifting his feet to kick a rock away to his side, watching it as it rolled down the covering of leaves on the ground and splashed into the brook. For a moment, there was a slight break in his voice that told stories about the loneliness he had felt since his capture. The boy had been good company, but he wasn't the same as other equines like himself.
Raising his head, Ezekiel offered a sly and coy smile, turning his muzzle slightly to one side to appear more mysterious as he responded to the friend comment. "Eventually. Provided you have no demons in your closet I should be afraid of."
He laughed a little at his joke, closing his eyes for a moment. Only to reopen them quickly at the feel of foreign feathers on his shoulders and the feel of her skin on his. The smile faded as the red rose to his cheeks. He attempted to calm his beating heart at the rare physical contact of someone, only to fail miserably. It embarrassed him to know she could probably feel it. His face darkened.
"Y-you're welcome," he stammered, clearing his throat to get the dignity back. Failing at this, as well. He smiled regardless of the pink tinge of his pale skin. "Nonsense, Zaiella. I offered, first. And it really is a shame. It's pretty up there. And maybe you're looking pure Wind means there is no cross blood to interfere with your staying up as long or as high as you wish. A whole new world up there I would be honored to help you experience." Unspoken words about Ezekiel's obvious Wind/Uni cross genes hid. He was thinking it. The inability to go too far above the treetops or for long distances didn't bother him as much as the limit his healing had.
"Breakfast and grandparent visiting? Sounds like a plan. I'm down for both. If you don't mind me tagging along for the second. Some nice apples would be nice if they're still out."Quote: Excuse my lateness sometimes. Letting myself get distracted by games 'cause I'm tired from work. Lots of early mornings. But since she's his companion, you're welcome to join it. o: Don't know what, yet, but we'll think of something. I like letting family/friends/others close to mine in on the other plots if they want. I think this one is just about coming to a close? Would you be interested in some flight training?
