User ImageIt was a small and often treacherous path which the foal had set out on today, the sun nearly heading to its location directly above in the skies. Noon was approaching as his father would often tell him, and as he nosed his way calmly over sea ridden rocks and squishy sand he was determined to reach his destination as well as return before the sea would rise up and submerge the pass. It wasn't the first time he'd come across from the lush environment of the rainforest and his sea side homeland to come this close to the rest of the mainland, but Teo' took utmost care while he was across the pass.

The gift of knowledge passed down from his wise and loving parents told him to be careful, and if he got into trouble yell and head straight back. Besides, he was sure there was someone watching out for him occasionally, where were enough herd members to make sure nothing happened.

As his dual toned locks swayed in the sea breeze, the foal climbed the small path made mostly by his mother up onto the land from the rocky shore; his eyes looking around first off for any signs of danger lurking or traces of just passed. Seeing none, he allowed the pent up smile to return to his pale lips which had been masked by his utmost concentration at hoof. "It's...so nice out." He spoke to himself, used to a monologue or two since although there was other foals around; most were learning professions from their parents and the last batch of children were a little older than he was. Even his own siblings were nearly adults now, well...save for his brother and his children - such adorable little kids. Teo' being young at mind, but not of heart knew he too would love to be a daddy when he was big strong and wise. He wanted to follow in all of his family's hoof prints. Be kind like his mother, wise like his father, and passionate like his siblings. Teo' often wore such a happy expression as contentment was high for the little colt.

He didn't dream of being a knight, or some hero, or to have power like many children his age.

His only dear wish for the future is that the happiness in his heart would never go away, and only grow bigger as time moved past him. However, he was still very much a child, and although perhaps wiser than his years he trotted merrily through the tall grass, to the spot he knew was close by. There, as he reached a small rocky hill tucked against the looming mountains which rose right from the sea were a bunch of flowers, growing taller and taller with a bunch of purple flowers on them.

Teo' knew his mother loved the flowers so from when they lived up near the longhouses, and this had been the only batch he'd seen around these parts. "Looks like you've been doing well, such amazing orchids this time!" He beamed, excited to bring some home.

The young filly had braved it out alone this day. She had grown comfortable roaming through the familiar landscape of the herdlands, mostly because it was small, quiet, and there were very few who often crossed their paths. Though it meant she had no real friends, outside of the flowers she so delighted in, Faelwyn did have family. . . and it was a great blessing upon her little heart. She had heard stories of foals that did not have love, did not have a family to watch over them, protect them, and love them; she was lucky to know that, even when her siblings fought, there was an unbreakable bond between them. Just because Babette only visited from time, just because she went months without seeing her older brother, did not mean they did not care. They were family, as her mother liked to so dutifully remind them all, and that was the greatest bond in the world.

So it was, despite her worries, despite her anxieties, the petite little filly was happy. Perhaps she lived an innocent and slightly naive life, but she was happy. This day was of no exception. Picking carefully through the soft grasses, navigating closer to the mountains, Faelwyn was lost in her own little world. She walked delicately despite her age, and though she still had much to learn, was quite aware of her position in the Kawani. She was a princess, after all, and she needed to learn how to become a lady. . .even at such a small age. Her sisters were so wild and rambunctious, so loud and carefree, little Faelwyn was often shadowed by their much more boisterous personalities. Thankfully, she once again, didn't mind; they could have all the attention, she was an ever present wall flower, and much preferred if nobody noticed her at all. It might not have been the most lady-like or princess-like way to be, but it was much more comfortable to be . . . . over looked.

Thankfully, the chances of her meeting a stranger this day were slim, and for that the pale one was grateful. Had she known she was picking her way on a path straight towards Teo, she would have turned 'round and fled home. As it was, so delighted on pausing to sniff and compliment the flowers she passed, encouraging small ones to grow, and wilting ones to feel better, she did not realize that this day, the little field of flowers was already occupied.

"There, there, little flower," she cooed quietly, reaching down to nuzzle a small orchid just recently bloomed. "A little sunlight will do you good today, I think. And I'm sure some rain is well on its way." She chattered happily, not at all put off by the fact the plants did not, and could not, speak back. They were her only friends, but Faelwyn liked how quiet they could be. . . because she so often was quiet too.

Nosing and searching around for the best of flowers to bring home, he had finally spotted one now that he had almost vanished amongst the tall flowers. Leaning his head down carefully to bite off at the stem, his ears picked up to the sound of another...barely. It had been almost a whisper amongst the nearby sounds of the ocean waves; but once he turned his head to the right he was able to definitely hear a voice. It sounded much like a little filly, from how soft and airy it was to his ears...he was sure if he was being any louder he would have missed it entirely.

Smart enough to not brazenly leap out and confront the owner of said voice, he slowly and carefully moved amongst the violet flowers; partially concealed as long as no one was actively looking for him with his own spots mirroring his surrounding flora.

Nearing a small curve in the mountain where the patch had taken root, his eyes peered out to widen only slightly, spotting such a strange and wonderful little soul so close to him that they were probably only a few meters apart. She had beautiful wings just like his father and the other Angeni siblings he had, except instead of the bright colours which ran from his father's side she had pale, natural colours similar to his mother. Needless to say, the little fellow was smitten with his luck of meeting another Angeni; for he knew for the most part these breeds were rarely evil - and if they were they would have the marks of the fallen which she did not possess.

Making sure he was calmed in his soul he stepped out from the flowers very softly; but definately not quiet enough to not be noticed. Bowing his head deep as his mother taught him to he looked up with his bright golden eyes to her and offered a serene smile. "Beautiful, aren't they?" Teo'xihuitl tone was quiet too, not that he was ever as boisterous as his brother Darius. You could hear that mutant stallion from vast distances.

"I....I wasn't expecting to see anyone around here. Its...a nice surprise." Especially someone young like he!

Oh!

Oh, oh, oh, oh!

Aqua eyes went wide in surprise as the sound of movement suddenly tickled her ears. What Faelwyn had thought might have been a rabbit or other little fauna of the flower patch, instead turned out to be another soquili! A new panic over took the shy and skittish little filly, who quickly backed up a few steps and practically tripped over her own hooves.

"Oh!" She practically squealed, though her words were soft, and hardly above a whisper. She did not recognize this foal, who looked absolutely nothing like her family. He was stripped of wings, just like her massive father, but he had the most peculiar colors! Her family ranged of naturals, browns, creams, and tans, but this one had been stained by the flowers he walked within! So pale and so colorful, all at once, with blues and purples, and almost pinks. . .

. . . . and then she realized she was staring.

Her wings flared, and instinctively she quickly craned her neck and hid herself within the multiple wings. She hadn't been prepared to meet a stranger, and she'd never actually met other foals and fillies before, not by herself. Passing guests that visited meant she was always introduced with her family, and could easily hide behind her siblings or fathers bulky frame. But here, she was alone, exposed, and was being horribly, horribly unlady like! It wasn't a good habit to hide within ones wings, especially when he hadn't done anything but spook her!

Ever so shyly, carefully, the little one dropped first one set of wings, and then spread her feathers a bit so she could better look at the strange colt. "I'm sorry!" She whispered, her nose flushed with embarrassment. Oh, oh she wasn't very good at this at all. Her head dipped and she quickly averted her gaze as she struggled to find her words. "H-h-hello. . . " she stammered weakly, trying to remember what all she was supposed to say and do and act and, of course, answer. He had asked her questions, hadn't he?

About flowers?

"I'm s-sorry, yes. . . yes they are very beautiful!" She explained mournfully, her ears flattening as she realized just how awful of a lady she was. She couldn't look at him, and had shied away so rudely, and hid in her wings, and . . . . This was dreadful. Terribly dreadful. He probably thought her a terrible little filly, and she honestly didn't know how to fix it.

Raising his brows in surprise as he seemed to have startled her something fierce despite his best attempts not to...he should have taken into account he did just come right out from the flowers. Perhaps next time he might need to take additional effort to maybe call out before hand? Dwelling for only a moment as he did realize he was still in company of another he gave her an odd kind of look; wondering what he could do to make her feel better as she stumbled back and hid behind her own wings.

"Don't be sorry..." Teo urged, trying his best to keep himself as calm as could be. Father often said the way one held themselves and acted would draw the same energy onto others...or something like that. He felt a little unsure, he'd never seen anyone so frightened to hide behind their own wings...as far as Teo was aware he was probably the least intimidating thing in his world

As she spoke, Teo felt ease rest in his soul...so, she stammered much like his father. Perhaps when she wasn't nervous it wasn't present, but his fathers was quite noticeable and very much common. If only he could remind her of something about her home...but alas, he knew nothing about this filly. What made her smile, or eased her fears.

Teo wasn't sure there was anything he could do. He was just a colt.

Then it hit him as his eyes drifted to the flowers...she felt very comforted but a moment ago when she was speaking and nuzzling them! Getting a brilliant idea he turned his body and lowered his head into the flowers; so much that he returned with a face covered in golden pollen with a laugh and a sneeze to send some of it in the air.

"I noticed..." He began, adjusting his tone to be soft again. "You were very in touch with them. You must really like flowers." Teo noted, but glanced over so he wouldn't be staring and possibly making things worse. "I wanted to pick one for my mother...perhaps...you could help me pick one which is really nice? I don't quite have the eye for these things and if its not a bother...I think you would be really good at it."

Perhaps it was too much to ask, but maybe, in his mind if he distracted her from him alone...she may feel a little better focusing on the flowers. "A-although if you need to go I understand! I'm used to being on my own as well away from the herd-land."

Faelwyn knew that she wasn't being a very good representative of her family's very-welcoming and usually very warm herd. She was a princess, after all, and part of being a princess meant having to actually meet others, greet others, and generally socialize. She wasn't going to be able to hide behind her wings every time she met someone new, even if she really, really, wanted to do such a thing! Even with her wings tucked anxiously back by her sides, she was now staring down at the grass, which wasn't . . . very good to do either.

Oh, if only her brother or sister were here. They'd know what to do in the company of this little colt! Then maybe she could hide behind them, and watch, and listen, and be there to support them as opposed to having to do this all by herself. But, on the other hoof, her sister and brother were also very much braver than she was, and probably wouldn't need her quiet support. So maybe that wasn't a very good idea either.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.

Thankfully though, the little colt didn't seem too offended. In fact, his words startled her. Not only had he assured her not to apologize, but then he started talking about something that she liked most of all -- flowers! Her bright, teal eyes shyly looked up from her hooves as she studied the purple and blue colt before her. Maybe he wasn't quite as scary as she had first imagined. . . at least, he seemed nice enough, quiet enough. He even was covered in a small dusting of pollen, and was talking about flowers. Well. She could be brave and talk about flowers back to him, couldn't she? She . . . she knew flowers. Kind of. Sort of. Maybe.

". . . I . . . I don't have to go anywhere, if you. . . you don't m-mind me being here." Faelwyn finally spoke coyly, thought it was almost a whisper. She felt her cheeks flush, and dropped her gaze for a moment before deciding that yes, yes she would help him. Could help him. She would do her part, because it was the right thing, and maybe it would make up for her being so shy and rude. "Do you know what . . . what k-kind your mum likes? I mean," she hastily added, realizing that if he knew what kind she liked, he wouldn't need her help, "favorite colors, that is. That could be a s-start."

She didn't have a usual stutter, but often in the extremes of her shyness, at this young age, she occasionally tripped and tumbled over her words. It was just as well nobody pointed out that she did such a thing, because she might never speak again if she thought her words were offensive!

Lifting his eyes from the very flowers they spoke of so hesitately and carefully, he turned his curious glance to the filly beside him. He was pleased she was coming out of her shell...even if just a touch. She was lovely thing with her pale hues of the desert as described by his father; blue eyes like the skies above and of course her wings. It would be a lie if he said he wasn't jealous of the winged relatives of his family and their ability to soar amongst the clouds. Teo' knew he was to be ground bound though, and that was alright with him as just look at all the beauty down here! Smiling warmly, he also knew that everyone had to come down from the skies eventually; and he would be there waiting diligently when they did.

However he looked a little horrified for a moment, drawing in what she said and processing it perhaps a little too much than he should have. How could she believe such a thing, or even fathom it! "No no!" He blurted, but caught himself quickly as his face burned cherry; dropping his head a little so his short mane covered his golden eyes just slightly. "I mean...of course I don't mind; I was....really hoping we could maybe be friends - you know? I've never met anyone outside my herd before."

Well okay, he had...but not someone his age! The urge to make friends with those who were not under his parent's protection in the herd may have been a little too strong in his young soul.

"Kind..? Hmmm" Teo thought on this for a moment, his mother was such a simple femme, who was endless smiles and pleasantries. He was sure his dear little mother would love anything he brought...but he wanted it to be special. Very special. "I don't think she likes any specific kind...but she loves purple ones! Its the colour of my father, and of course some of us." He chuckled; tilting his head with a bright smile on his features. See! Like my spots, that colour!" He turned his head to nose at his rump but kept walking around, doing a few circles before stopping and feeling the impending dizziness.

"Oi...I shouldn't do that..." He shook his mane out before getting back into control as much as a playful little colt could.

"Actually you know what would be an even better start? If I actually introduced myself." He blushed faintly, turning to the fellow youth and dipping his front low in a utmost formal bow as he could. "My name is Teo'xihuitl...what's your name?"
