User ImageEven though his strange wasp companion was perched drowzily on his shoulder in the evening cool, Brilliant Star still heard a sound in his ears like buzzing, and hummed softly along with it as he walked. There was a hill nearby where he had watched the stars come out before, but it had been some time. He needed a change of scenery anyway, and it seemed like a good a spot as any to return to.

As he neared the top, Far-Off stirred to life again, raising her wings from her back and vibrating them for warmth. The little breeze she stirred sent a shiver down Brilliant Star's neck, but, being the warm-blooded one of the pair, ultimately did not mind much.

He was just starting to wonder if Far-Off could see the stars that had helped him name her, with her strange, impassive gem-faceted eyes, when he heard the sound of someone approaching. Brilliant Star thought he caught the outline of another kin moving in the grasses towards the top of the hill in the rapidly-dwindling light, but he could not tell for sure. Whoever it was walked far too quietly for the acha to hear over the buzzing in his ears.

Brilliant Star offered a curious sound of greeting, to see if the stranger would respond.
