There was a dull pain in Maggie's head as she began to come to. As her head began to clear, she realized she hurt everywhere and felt like she was hit by a train. Rolling onto her stomach, she was able to push herself into a more upright position...then retched. With her eyes watering and trying to settle her breathing, she looked around her.

She was still in the fog.

"
She had a lot of questions, still. Maybe even more now. What the hell was this fog about? No one had told her yet. And why in the world did those two students attack her and Alex and Chryses? Alex had said something about "insanity", but she still didn't know too much about what that meant. She could only guess that it meant the people who had it were crazy as implied, but of course there was more to it than that.

Alex and Chryses....

Looking around, she saw Alex laying nearby, also unconscious. Going to him, she knelt down and pulled him onto his back, trying to gently wake him up. "Alex...Alex...hey, are you alright?"

Alexander didn't sleep, but he certainly could be knocked unconscious and had been on several different occasions. It was always a dreamless state for him, however, barring any trance like experiences he had had with the horsemen's involvement. This time was no different, and he lay stone still on the floor, unbreathing, unmoving, a corpse in every sense of the word. Slowly, however, over time his limbs began to twitch back to life. His fingers, his eyelids...When Maggie rolled him onto his back he moaned, a quiet and low sound as his eyebrows furrowed and his forehead creased from the lightly throbbing pain in his temples. Slowly his eyelids fluttered open, revealing one single pale grey eye to stare up into the face of the cat ghoul who had moved him, her soft voice only adding to the pain.

Still, though he grimaced, he lifted up a hand to wave her off, then slowly pushed himself up into a sitting position, rotating his head back and forth on his neck and rolling his shoulders before speaking.

"Ya, I guess I'm physically whole at least." He replied, his voice low and hoarse. "How about you?" He was already looking away from her, taking in the surroundings. Fog, fog, and more fog. Fantastic.

"It seems like we might be inside the haunted house." He muttered, eyes moving to the floorboards beneath him. "How long have I been out? Do you know how we got here?"

"Yeah, I'm alright, and I really don't know. I just woke up, myself. " Shaking her head with a sigh, Maggie let herself drop to her butt to sit with Alex, her head still aching.

"Well, now that we're not being attacked, can you tell me what's going on? What is this place?"

Alexander sighed and just shook his head. "I don't entirely know myself. Come on, we shouldn't stay in one place, in case we get attacked again." He began to push himself to his feet, moving his hands down to his sides to hoist himself up when his fingers brushed against something. Pausing for a moment, he glanced down at the floor, only to see an unraveled pile of bandages and two half dissolved pumpkin pills lying on the floor in a small pile. All pretty much useless, by the look of them. He finished pushing himself up then offered a hand out to Maggie to help her to her feet as well.

"I can tell you what I do know. I think we're inside the Haunted House. It's like..a place that we can get to from inside of the school. There's this corridor that leads right to it, that sort of comes out of nowhere. I've been a few times....Maggie, do you know what hunters are?" She was new to the school, so she might really know nothing, which meant he was going to have a lot of explaining to do as they went along.

Casting a glance around, he thought he spotted a flicker or light in the distance, but it was a cold and harsh light, not one that he really felt comfortable going near.

"Come on, lets move. Keep a hold of my hand, I don't want to lose you in this. Let me know if you see anything."

Taking Alex's offered hand, Maggie rose to her feet again. "Okay." Her ears twitched at the thought of being attacked again. She'd been sure the last time that they were all done for, and that was terrifying.

"Haunted House? But, we live in Halloween...aren't all the houses supposed to be haunted?" This didn't sound right to her. Looking around again, she obviously could tell this was bad. Of course it was. People were turning grey and attacking. "Hunters? I-I can guess they're not good. And I can guess by the name that they want to hurt us." Her eyes widened in horror at the thought that someone would want to hurt her, or potentially kill her.

Her chest sank, and she nodded weakly as her grip on Alex's hand tightened. She was more scared now than she had been, and she didn't want to become someone's rug. Of course, who really knew what could happen to her if she ran into one of these Hunters? They might do worse than use her for a room decoration. She shuddered a little and kept close to Alex, her eyes wide and alert.

"This is uh..a bit of a special place." He didn't quite know how to explain it so that it made sense to the ghoul who really had no idea what was going on. He continued to pull her along, eyeing the cold and harsh light that appeared, then veered away from it and continued onward.

"Hunters are humans. They wear white jackets and carry weapons that were once Halloween denizens." He shook his head, his tone growing colder the more he spoke. "They can somehow come into our world dressed up like one of us, so you never know when they're around. They've kidnapped students before. They've turned students into weapons. They destroyed the horsemen isles. They're dangerous and not to be trusted." In the distance now he could see another light, but this one appeared to be warmer, and far more inviting then the last. Still, he was wary of it, not quite trusting what it might actually be.

"So, hunters can come to Halloween, but they can't really come here. They're like, in these golems that they control that look like us, but if you hit them they crumble like dry clay. We can go to the human world, but only through portals....the haunted house is like a world between worlds. Hunters can be here. Hunters are here, because I saw a few earlier, before you and Chryses found me." Speaking of the demon, where was he?

"Should we head towards that light, or do you want to keep going?" He'd let her decide, unsure himself of what to do next.

"Humans..." This truly troubled the shifter. "And they...they..." She couldn't even finish her sentence. It was all so shocking and extremely troubling. To think that students could be turned into things used to hurt other Halloween citizens... Maggie sighed, her chest feeling heavier than it had in a long time. And hearing that they'd destroyed the Horsemen isles was just as saddening and made her heart hurt.

"So...they dress in costumes? But it's not really them. Like, they're controlling these things from somewhere else, right?" It seemed kind of silly to her, but eased her mind a bit that the hunters themselves couldn't actually enter Halloween. She suddenly stopped dead, ears flying forward. "They're HERE? In the house?!" Her eyes went wide and wild. She would've crouched, but Alex's hand kept her upright. She must've looked like a kitten next to the tall boil.

"Is that why this fog is here? Is that why some of the other students attacked us? Because the hunters are here?" The beast, feeling her panic, brushed her conscious warmly to assure her that she was alright, that she could survive anything these hunters threw at them. Then, she noticed the light Alex mentioned. It seemed warm and inviting, and she needed warm.

"Yes, the light. Let's go there."

It was really just too much to explain, but it was keeping Alex's mind focused on something, and this something was a lot better then the other things he could be focusing on. Like snapping Yin's neck, or being torn in half by his zombro. Yes, this was a lot better then that by far. "Costumes? Ya, something like that, I guess. Honestly Maggie, I don't really know a lot about how it works, I just know that when they come to Halloween, they can look like anything." He stopped his movement, dropped her hand, and turned to look down at her, reaching out to grab her by the shoulders as he stared at her with one intense and pale grey eye.

"Yes, they're here. Or at least, they were earlier. I've seen four so far, only one of which I actually recognized. The fog...they seem just as confused about it as we do....but..." He couldn't help but think back to the beginning. Yin and Amrita, both students that had been kidnapped by hunters. Coincidence? It was hard to believe it if so. "I wouldn't be surprised if they know more about it then they let on. They're manipulative and again, I can not stress how much they are not to be trusted, no matter how nice they might pretend to be. I've lost a lot, because of them." He let his hands slip away from her shoulders as he glanced off towards the light, which seemed much closer now, a beacon that was slowly drawing him in.

"Yes, let's go towards the light." He reached out for her hand once more, and began moving towards the warm light.

"O-okay..."

Taking his hand again, she moved towards the warm light with Alex.

And so back into the fog the two of them went, though Alexander had to move a little faster then he was normally accustomed to in order to catch up with the ghoul who had taken off ahead of him. He would have chastised her, but since they were still so close to the light of the horseman encampment, he she was still fairly clearly visible, even with the fog swirling around, threatening to obscure his vision. When he caught up to her, he reached for her hand once more, not willing to lose her as he had everyone else.

"I'm really not sure where we should go to get started. Maybe if we go---" His voice cut off, and he stopped moving, cold hand gripping her's tighter then before as his head cocked slowly to one side.

"Do you..hear music?" He asked, brow furrowing in a frown.

"Come on, lets go and check it out." Probably not the most sensible decision to make in this situation, but they needed to go somewhere, and this was the first hint of direction they'd been given since arrival. Besides, music might attract a crowd which meant more students and really Alex just couldn't control his zombie instincts when it came to being attracted by noises. So onward he pulled her, until the fog began to shift and swirl, thickening and taking on new form, making him halt once more.

"Woah..." He turned his face getting a good look at what had pretty much just sprung up around them. It was like...a foggy version of Fright Night. There was even laughter, and the music..though it all seemed very muffled.

"Okay, this is just getting creepy..."

Head still held high, senses on alert, Maggie strode through the fog without fear. Allowing her feral side to creep in was probably the best thing she'd done in a while. Not only did it keep her insecurities and worries at bay, but it made her that much more dangerous. She'd been able to hear Alex grumble behind her as they left the Horsemen's camp, and allowed herself to smirk a little when he took a hold of her hand again. It made her feel that much more unafraid, not just because she knew she wasn't alone, but because it made her feel needed.

Stopping at the same instant Alex did, her ears swiveled in the direction of the oddly happy music. "Yes, I do." Her smirk died as she frowned deeply. This was not good, and her instincts screamed at her not to go.

But there could be other students. Grudgingly, she allowed herself to slightly trail Alex until he halted once more, the fog reforming...into Fright Night. Stepping up next to him, her lip curling into a snarl, Maggie took in the sight. "More like dangerous. I have a bad feeling about this, Alexander." A low growl escaped her throat as she scanned the sight, trying to listen past the music for any indication of other students.

As much as she didn't like it, she decided she'd follow Alex in if he decided to go. And for all she knew, Chryses had woken up and wandered into that fake Fright Night. With a sigh, she rolled her golden eyes to look up at Alex.

"So...what now?"

"You and me both." He muttered, still taking in their surroundings and taking a few hesitant steps forward. Why would the mists take on the form of Fright Night? This entire thing made little to no sense at all. "I'm sorry to tell you that while you're attending Amityville you'll probably inadvertently end up walking into quite a few dangerous situations, Maggie. I'm sorry you had to be a part of this." But he would still do what he could to keep her safe.

He didn't want to touch anything, didn't want to go anywhere near those fake, grey, mist formed booths, so he just kept going forward, eye casting around for any dangers, hoping that they could make their way through without having anything weird happen. It was stupid to hope such things, but he did none the less.

Of course, then the fog began to rush in, billowing up like a great storm cloud, roiling towards them. His grip tightened on Maggie once more as he held up an arm over his face, as though to ward it all off....

...and then when he lowered it, it was to the sight of a figure standing before them, with several misty figures standing beyond.

Wait, power? What was he fighting for? Well, that was easy. For his friends and loved ones. For a chance to get to play out their lives in peace and happiness without having to feel threatened or insecure. It was a dream full of false hope, but it was what he wanted, regardless. But then the figure began speaking of stealing, and the zomboil made to move forward in protest, only to find his limbs stiff and immobile. s**t. s**t s**t s**t!

Desperately, his eyes darted to the figures standing behind the man, seeking out some form of help. But all he saw were the faces of his friends and family members, greyed out, eyes downcast. If his heart could beat it would have stopped dead in his chest as a chill swept over him. "M--mom?" She was there, just behind the figure, but she refused to look up at him. The zomboil closed his pale eye.

"No, it's not her. This isn't real. Maggie, it isn't real, okay? Whatever you see, just remember it's not real..." He kept his eyelids closed and repeated this mantra over and over again in his mind. Not real. Couldn't be real. His mom wasn't here, because she had gone home. He had taken her to the train station himself. Not real.

"If I'm going to be in danger anyways, I might as well get used to it." Part of what she said was to ease Alex's worry, the other part to make sure she knew it. Maggie kept close to his side. She didn't trust this mist.

When the fog rushed in, she tensed, baring her teeth. She didn't realize they'd elongated, but hopefully nothing else had changed without her realizing it. Her eyes flickered from one figure to another, but she kept her sights on the darkest figure, the one standing directly in front of them.

Fighting for? She was fighting to survive, to get out of this damned mist and to find Chryses and all the other students. Her eyes flicked instantly to the weapon in the fog-being's hand. She would've crouched, would've shifted, if she'd been able to move. This was very bad.

Power? What the hell did she need that for? She'd come to Amity to control what power she already possessed. And who was this thing talking about? Return of stolen things? What...? This was too confusing. Looking at the shapes behind the figure, she realized Alex was there, eye not meeting hers. Then she heard Alex insisting it wasn't real.

Squeezing the real Alex's hand, she took a deep breath and closed her eyes, chanting the same thing he was. "It's not real....It's not real...."

Alexander knew that realistically he could not keep his eyelids shut tight forever. At some point, he was going to have to open them back up and face what was there in front of him, and somehow he was going to have to deal with it, as well as the figure asking him about something that he had supposedly taken. But this, for now, this was comforting. Even the feel of Maggie's hands in his, and her voice chanting the same words that were on repeat in his brain were just enough to keep him grounded.

But finally it wasn't enough. He sucked in a breath to help steal his nerves and let his eyelids open once more.

Only to be greeted by nothing more then white fog.

"Maggie? Maggie, come on! We need to keep moving." He began to move forward, pulling her along with him, as he continued to keep an eye out for any more misty figures, though what he should have been looking out for was something on the ground. His foot caught on something, and he tripped, stumbling forward, his hand loosening from it's hold on Maggie,s as he fell forward and held his hands out in front of him to break his fall. When he landed, it was not on to the floor like he had imagined, but instead his hands came to rest on something hot, sticky, and wet. Blood. He could smell it's scent, thick, sweet, and cloying in the air around him. "Maggie?" He turned, searching for the ghoul who he'd let go of but seeing nothing in the mist. He was alone except for this figure below him, which was gasping out in pain, it's breathing shallow as blood pumped between his fingers.

"Are you..are you okay?" He asked the figure, unable to truly make it out as he increased pressure with his hands, pulling his attention back to what was right in front of him. He'd worry about Maggie in a minute. But something about the figure seemed off, and almost made him feel angry. Something about the smell of the blood, fueling a dark need inside of him. His upper lip curled back in a snarl.

"Never mind. You deserve to die, human." He growled, then plunged his fingers into the wound, tearing, letting the blood flow more freely, finishing the job that had been started.

All she focused on were the words she was chanting, and Alex's voice next to her. Hearing him stop, Maggie opened an eye to look up at him questioningly. Suddenly noticing the figures were gone, she opened both eyes and quickly narrowed them, ears going back in agitation. She didn't like being accused of things she didn't do, and she certainly didn't like disappearing figures.

Without giving her time to react, she was being pulled by Alex again. Suddenly, he let go of her hand and was thrown head-first into the fog. His momentum sent her pitching forward as well, only she was able to stumble mostly, then fall to her knees.

Maggie felt something warm and sticky beneath her fingers. She knew what it was, she'd felt it many times before. Blood felt a lot different with fingers than it did with paws. She began shaking. Attempting to discern whether it was a student or a Horseman was difficult. Then she realized....

Hunters...

Alex had said there were Hunters here, and they were full of not good.

Sniffing her hands, she wasn't able to tell whether or not this blood was that of a human, or a student, or a Horseman. Maggie knew better than to shift. The presence of the blood would be too much for her to resist trying to eat whomever this was.

Guilt washed over her as she rose. She knew she'd regret this if it was someone who had really needed her. Turning away, she tried to steel herself and began searching for Alex. After a few steps, she heard a loud sigh, and then nothing. Stopping, she dropped her head and hoped whomever it was would rest in peace. After a few minutes, Maggie raised her head and set her shoulders, eyes still feral and golden.

"Alex? Alex? Where are you?"
