The land flattens from the high plains into the low plains. There are more trees here for cover, and the foliage is more lush. It is a beautiful part of the territory. The valley overlooks the plains, the low plains in particular, and prey is often plentiful here.

Dusk was falling over the land Ajax called home. His pack was called Archon, and it was beginning to thrive under his rule. Of course Summer's bounty had a hand in keeping things easy for the wolves while he found his paws as the new Alpha, but two seasons had passed without incident and the black pelted brute felt confident in his ability to lead the others through Winter's harshness, when it came.

He strolled lightly through the rolling grasslands of the lower plains, leaving soft clumps of thick, dark fur as he lost his heavy Winter coat now the weather had warmed considerably. It was a minor irritation, and the brute would pause, sit and scratch at it every so often to rid himself of a particularly stubborn clump. Ajax shook his fur out, sending loose hairs away on the warm, Summer breeze, and continued on his way. He had no real destination in mind, unusual for the Alpha, and was neither heading towards the dens or the river - the most frequented of spots in all Archon land. No, he was wandering in his domain, enjoying the evening as it fell, blanketing the earth in cool, refreshing darkness.

In truth, Ajax enjoyed time by himself just as much as spending it with his pack mates. Evening strolls had always been something he had enjoyed, and it was no different now he was Alpha. The brute thought back to the takeover. While he had been considered an adult for 18 months or so already, the ascension in the ranks proved to himself that he was full grown, dominant, and therefore capable of the responsibilities and pressure of rule. He had served as a Delta and then Beta, but felt he would be a better Alpha than his predecessor. It was instinct that had taken over - the fight was short but bloody. The older wolf had injuries and weaknesses Ajax would not encounter for years, and the lithe brute claimed an easy victory. He was a fair Alpha, and did not exile the loser as perhaps others would have done. But the former leader had left of his own accord barely a moon later, and a Sigma report soon after had confirmed his spirit was no longer of this world. Archon grieved that night, and with the following dawn, there was no doubt that Ajax was the true leader.

He stopped near a group of pine trees by the edge of the plains, shaking his head to rid himself of his memories. It wasn't necessary, but the evening walks often brought up feelings of nostalgia. Ajax knew he had to focus on the present and future, and with a definitive nod, decided to no longer think about the past events.

As he pushed himself to his paws, the wind changed and brought with it the scent of a leveret lying somewhere closeby in the tall grass. Ajax froze; eyes scanning the surroundings before he spotted the tips of the brown ears belonging to his quarry. Salivating a little, he crouched and crept towards his target with practiced ease.

*edited after dice roll*

With one, swift pounce, the young hare's neck was broken by Ajax's jaws, and the brute's hunt was over. Proudly raising his head and tail, the Alpha headed over to a small clump of trees where he lay at their trunks, slowly devouring his supper.

Ceniza

        In the rain,
        The pavement
        Shines
        Like silver
        All the lights
        Are misty
        In the river
        In the darkness
        The trees are
        Full of starlight

Standing on a rocky outcrop a smokey young wolf looked out across the lower plains of the pack's territory. As was the norm for this particular female she was alone. The fae had been keeping her distance from the pack and the main dens. Not because the other pack members had done anything wrong. They had not been cruel, not had they made her feel unwelcome. However the less time that she spent with the rest of them, the less questions would be asked. They would be innocent enough things at first. Where she'd come from, what her old pack had been like. It would not be long though before the whys followed. The less questions about why she was no longer with that pack the better. The young fae didn't need another pack deciding that she wasn't trustworthy enough to stay in their pack.

Wing gently pushed through Ceniza's fur and as she raised her head a myriad of scents flowed to her. The smell of prey, other wolves, so many different things, but none of them smelt of home. Letting out a sigh the grey wolf jumped off of the rock and made her way down the slop onto the flatness of the plains. Her head was held low as she allowed her thoughts to take her own path, vaguely aware of the grass stroking along her sides as she walked. For a while she let her defences fall and didn't focus so intently on her surroundings. For now the smells and sounds could go unchecked for a while.

Would this place ever feel like home to her? Would she ever really feel like she belonged here? Would it ever be the same? Of course it wouldn't. How could it ever be? After what she had done. How she had allowed that to happen. Not doing more that day. Fighting harder to stop what had happened. She did she expect to be trusted by this new pack? She didn't deserve them believing in her. Why was she even here? Coming to a stop Ceniza lifted her head and looked up into the sky. Standing out in the open she watched as night crept ever closer and wondered: Did they miss her?

The light continued to fade from the sky as Ajax took his time with his catch. He wasn't overly hungry and catching the leveret had been down more to instinct than anything else. He was laid comfortably on the soft, slightly dry grass beneath a small crop of pine trees, his catch held fast between his front paws. Ajax continued to survey his surroundings as he ate - he had never been one to completely relax and let his guard down.

The wind was warm and frequent, bringing with it the scents of his pack. One scent in particular intensified, and the brute paused his supper to raise his muzzle. It was slightly unfamiliar, and his hackles began to rise as he stood up and saw a she-wolf not too far from himself. Ajax relaxed when he saw her. It was only Ceniza, a fae he had accepted as a Tau barely a moon past. Her scent was still unfamiliar to his nose, moreso as she had kept her distance from the other Archon wolves since joining and had yet to adopt the pack's scent. Still, he had trusted her enough to allow her to join. She was, in fact, one of the first Taus in the pack accepted by him, and he still stood by his decision despite her reluctance to dive into the social side of pack life.

The Alpha watched as the grey pelted fae came to a stop and looked to the skies. He followed her gaze automatically but saw nothing of interest. He assumed she was lost in thought, and, like himself, was simply enjoying the evenings stroll.

He decided to raise his own muzzle to the darkening sky and let out a low howl; letting his voice carry across the plains, dying out before it reached the edges of the territory. It was not a calling howl, after all, it was simply the brute relishing the night and making his presence known to Ceniza. Once finished, he turned his gaze towards the fae and took a few steps towards her. "Are you hungry, Cezina? You are welcome to share my catch," Ajax offered, offering her a friendly swish of his tail.

Ceniza

        In the rain,
        The pavement
        Shines
        Like silver
        All the lights
        Are misty
        In the river
        In the darkness
        The trees are
        Full of starlight

Perhaps it was the time she had spent alone that caused Ceniza to react the way she did. A low howl traveled through the evening air and the she-wolf instantly dropped and flattened herself to the ground. The idea that she was safe inside the pack's territory and that the likelihood of being attacked by a trespassing wolf was extremely slim didn't get a chance to make itself known before she had already pinned herself to the ground. Even before living without a pack Ceniza had been taught you couldn't trust every wolf out there. Without a pack though that changed from can't trust every wolf to it being safer to not really trust any wolf. Ceniza hadn't tried to join any other packs, but she had certainly stumbled across the territories of ones that had made it clear they didn't want her around. Some had been civil in telling her, others had not. Really she was lucky that Archon had agreed to take her in. They didn't have to, after all, she was just another mouth to feed.

Lifting her head slightly she carefully scented the air. There was nothing she could smell though that was unfamiliar. Giving her head a rough shake the fae scolded herself for being so skittish as she climbed to her paws again. How could she be so stupid? This wasn't unclaimed territory, nor was it that of a pack that did not want her there. She had no reason to hide like a startled pup at the sound of another wolf. Straightening up she turned her head in the direction of the howl and instantly felt her stomach drop. Spotting the Alpha Ceniza immediately adopted a submissive posture, her tail tucked up underneath her as she crouched lower, not that it mattered as the dark furred wolf before her was larger than her anyway.

At the offer the smokey wolf tilted her head to the side ever so slightly. Ceniza didn't understand this behaviour from the Alpha. In her old pack everything had been about rank, to a strict degree. There an Alpha wouldn't even speak to a wolf holding as low a rank as she did now, let alone offer to share a catch with them. Had it been any other wolf in the pack Ceniza would most likely have refused. It didn't matter that actually she was hungry and had failed to catch her own meal earlier that day. She would have politely refused and gone in search again of something else to eat. It was not any other wolf though, would he be insulted if she refused him? Was it some kind of test to see if she would go against how she was supposed to act by accepting? The fae honestly didn't know.

Misty amber eyes were noticeably wary as the female slowly raised herself out of her crouch, though her tail remained where it was. There was a difference between accepting kindness and being disrespectful. "Yes, thank you." Not entirely certain how she was expected to address him Ceniza tried her best to keep it short and polite, her voice quiet and calm. She still didn't know Ajax well enough to know how he'd react, but accepting and risking it being a test seemed a nicer option than refusing, risking insulting him and possibly losing out on a meal. Having not taken part in any pack hunts so far Ceniza had only dared eat what she had caught herself, which didn't give her the best chances.

((Sorry if this sounds ramble-ish. I wanted to get this done before going to bed, but I'm tired so things might not make sense in some places. I'll re-read it tomorrow and try and fix any mistakes. sweatdrop ))

Ajax was a little surprised at Ceniza's reaction to his howl. She panicked; dropping to the floor and all but cowering before him. He knew she was nervous, that much was obvious from her scent and general behaviour before now. Ajax hoped she would break the cycle of fear, and he was at least being friendly, if not generous.

When the fae had gotten over her initial shock, she adopted a submissive pose. The brute hoped she would lose her fear and treat Archon like a family. It would take time, but he thought she would integrate well enough before too long.

He nodded at her agreement and took a few steps back towards the tree. Looking down at the half eaten leveret, he picked it up and stepped over to her again, gently placing it on the ground by her paws. Ajax took a step back to give her some space, then sat down. He didn't want to crowd her or make her more nervous than she obviously was. "Please, have the rest. I've eaten my fill," he said, lowering his muzzle to one front paw as he cleaned it of the little blood that had found its way onto his dark fur. "Have you considered a full rank or would you rather remain a member?" the Alpha asked, moving onto business. The fae had not said much of her past experiences and without her opening up, there wouldn't be much he could offer.

Archon was a reasonabl size, and there were enough wolves to function well enough; to the benefit of the lower ranks in terms of freedom and a life without fear or worry. Ajax knew they would encounter struggles at some point, that was life, it he wanted every individual to be in the best position for them, and he was willing to accommodate requests as well as skills.

He hadn't given Ceniza's rank too much thought, and he felt it would be good to get her thoughts - if she was willing to share them - to give him a better idea of how she would truly fit within Archon life.

The brute looked up, watching her from time to time. He chose not to look at her eyes directly, intimidation was not his ploy, but he wanted to get a better idea of the she-wolf as an individual. Of course he would be on his way, resuming his casual patrol, if she became too nervous or if another matter cropped up which called his attention. For now, he wanted to know more about the Tau.

Staying where she was the grey-furred female shifted uneasily as Ajax walked away to retrieve his catch. For those few moments she entertained fleeing or inventing some reason that she would need to leave. For her the situation was easily deemed as uncomfortable. She was unfamiliar with the Archon pack in general, but the top wolf? That was a different game entirely. She knew next to nothing about the Alpha, only his name. Her home had hardly been better though, the Alpha pair there never deemed the lower ranking wolves worthy of their company, it made this situation a peculiar one for Ceniza and she wasn't certain how to act in it.

After the leveret was placed by her paws the wolf let out an inner sigh of relief as the brute stepped back. She wasn't certain that she would have been able to eat had he stayed as close. As the dark wolf sat Ceniza cautiously settled down, dipping her head in thanks for allowing her the rest of his catch. Slowly she lay down on her front with the remains of the hare between her paws. Her movements were deliberately careful and would most likely remain so until she felt more comfortable in her new pack. Willing to lie down in such close a proximity was certainly a step in the right direction though. Ceniza couldn't say she felt completely relaxed, but seeing Ajax do something as mundane as cleaning blood off his muzzle calmed her enough that she was able to eat without keeping a wary gaze on the brute.

Fortunately enough the fae wasn't so hungry that she was incapable of eating neatly. There had been times before when need of food or lack of company had stopped her from trying to appear calm, as she did the majority of the time. Her way of eating however made it easy to pause when she was spoken to. Smokey eyes shifted to the brute's face and watched him carefully for a moment, she had found his word choice interesting. 'Remain a member' Ceniza was very aware that she was not a member of the pack. Not yet anyway. She was still under evaluation. Still a Tau. "I was a Sigma in my previous pack," she said, after a short pause. "I could do the same here. I'm a decent enough tracker and quick when the situation calls for it." She thought it best to be modest about her abilities. She didn't know Ajax well enough to joke about her prowess and finding things. She may have been one of the best in her old pack, but that meant nothing here, not amongst a new group of wolves. It would be up to the dark-pelted brute before her to decide how good she was.

Ajax stole a glance at the fae from time to time as he continued to clean himself. He wasn't one for bearing down on another and enjoyed his personal space as much as anyone else. When he was done, the brute shook his head and looked up, tail curled around his paws. Darkness had fallen completely, and the night was mild. It was also cloudy, with no sign of the moon and only the brightest of stars glistening through the wisps of cloud overhead. His ears twitched a little when she said she had been a Sigma once upon a time. It was a rank that would be useful to the pack.

"Perhaps we can test your speed and tracking abilities," he suggested, glancing around the plains as the wind picked up and ruffled his fur. "How much of the territory have you seen? Are you familiar with our land yet?" Ajax asked. Being scouts and trackers, Sigmas had to know every inch of the territory - know the shortcuts and hidden trails, where prey could often be found and how to see and track in poor weather. Ajax was thinking about placing her with a Rho for assessment rather than training. Perhaps a patrol or two. If she was up for it, of course.

The brute would be happy to show her the land if she needed. His presence would also deter any teasing or prevent the younger members of the pack from ignoring her. It was common with the lower ranks, and Ajax strongly felt the fae could and should live up to her potential as quickly as possible.

The river flashed in his mind and reminded the brute of his thirst. But Ajax did not wish to leave abruptly, nor did he wish to make Ceniza nervous. He was also interested to see how her knowledge was growing, if at all.

A sole wolf meandered through the pines. His ivory pelt flashed with each dip in and out of the brush. Up above a screech owl whistled. The wolf paused for a moment to admire the bird. Their golden eyes met for a brief second before the bird hopped off it's perch. It's wings unfolded, and in three mighty strokes, was above the tree line and beyond the wolf's sight. "What a marvelous thing it would be, to fly." He mused and continued on his evening stroll. He had just left the den after sufficient nap. Feeling particularly refreshed, he had his mind set on hunting. Ajax would need to approve of his plan, but Hanskah had a good feeling about tonight. It had been a few days since the pack had accomplished a successful hunt.

The light wolf's name was a fitting one. The word Hanskah meant "tall" in his grandmother's tongue, his nickname, Skah, meaning "white." Hanskah was indeed a tall, lanky brute. His legs were made for running. Some days he would run for miles for no reason at all. Perhaps it was the unbound, free way of the wolf. Or maybe it was his way of flying.

At the foot of the trail he came to a skidding halt. It was strange to not encounter a single pack mate on the mountain trail. Wolves always seemed to be coming and going from the den. Hanskah drew a deep breath of the rich summer air. There indeed was not a single familiar scent on the wind. Disappointed, he turned to the south. The elevation provided an eagle's eye view of much of the territory. The herd that occupied the land wasn't going to be out and about at the hour. The brute decided they would likely be hidden in the woods not far beyond the low plains. His mind set, Hanskah took off. His powerful hind legs pushed him off the ground. Airborn for a fraction of a second, his front paws touched down and the whole cycle repeated. He was a silver bullet dead-set on his target. Stable ground only went so far in this region. Soon he reached a terribly steep slope that only the skilled could scale. Skah peered over the ledge assessing the situation. A confident wolf, he was not the least bit daunted by the task ahead. One paw extended, he stepped out onto a boulder. The vibrations of rocks grinding below him send shier up through his paw pads and down his spine. "I must be careful." He thought to himself as he made his next move. Once again he had chosen wisely. The boulder that now supported him was sturdy as well. He made slow progress, but nonetheless made it three fourths of the way down the dangerous slope. Hanskah's next move was his only mistake. He leaned into the rocky wall to brace himself before hopping to a stone ledge. As he did so the rocks beneath him turned loose. Everything toppled downwards like a rocky avalanche. Skah kicked up his feet and made a mad dash towards the bottom. He was lucky to reach the bottom before the rocks came crashing down as well. Aside from sore paw pads, he left the scene in good shape.

The rest of the journey was more so tedious than anything else. Nothing but vast grassland with several scattered trees. The ivory brute picked up the scene of his leader as he neared the low plains. It was much relief. A heavy sigh escaped his maw and he quickened his pace. He could just make out the ebony brute alongside a wolf whose name he could not recall. His snowy plume wagged in a friendly manner and his ears fell flat in respect.

"Greetings Ajax," He said with a dip of his head. He then turned to the fae. "I am afraid I do not recall your name, please forgive me." He added with an embarrassed chuckle. He knew the fae as a Tau, but that was all. He felt somewhat neglectful to have not bothered speaking with her before.

Ceniza

"Very well." If he thought it best then it seemed the easiest way. It gave Ajax a chance to see how good she was and where she would fit in within his pack. Ceniza wasn't too proud to be tested, though she had known wolves that were. As she thought about the possibility she decided that maybe she even enjoy it. The challenge would be a welcome way to spend her time, putting her skills to the test and doing something she genuinely enjoyed. With no threat involved she didn't have to spend the whole time worrying that she was going to wander into some rival packs territory and have to flee for her life.

"I know enough of the territory to be able to get to the main locations, but I've not traversed enough to know the fastest routes to them." It was easy to get where she needed to go, but hadn't had time to or felt secure enough to explore all possible routes. With time she would come to find all the short-cuts and the quickest way from one place to another. For now it was only the speed of her own body that she could depend on and utilise. If she was expected to be a Sigma then Ceniza would need to spend at least a few days roaming the territory to make as detailed a mental image of the land as possible. The training in her old pack meant she already knew the ways of a Sigma, how navigate in uncharted areas, how to use the sky as direction, the tricks of tracking and such. All she needed to do was acquaint herself with all the smells and landmarks in the territory. She already knew the major ones, such as things leading to the main den and the river, it was more minor ones she'd have to master.

Although her expression showed no change the fae's ears pivoted as a distant movement was heard. Whilst still looking at the dark-furred brute she discerned it was too big to be any small prey and it was unlikely a larger animal was heading toward them. There was no mistaking there were wolves in the area, just as there was no way she could mistake the scent that drifted to her on the night air as anything other than that of a wolf. Ceniza may not know the scent of each wolf in the pack individually, but she still knew the group scent they all adopted with time. Any simpleton with a nose should be able to tell that difference.

The smoky female rose swiftly to her feet as white pelt came into view. She remained standing as the brute approached and whilst he spoke to Ajax Ceniza contemplated leaving. Unfortunately in this open an area slipping away unnoticed may prove to be a difficult task indeed. When the light-furred wolf turned to her Ceniza instinctively took a few steps back, though she did not crouch as she had before. Her response to back-up was born of no longer being in a situation that allowed her to face off against things she wasn't sure about. She couldn't be aggressive with pack members. So that left backing away and avoiding conflict wherever possible.

"Oh, that's alright," Ceniza answered, trying to appear at ease. She didn't really expect anyone to now her name, but in truth she was finding the situation uncomfortable now. Not only was she very aware that she was outnumbered, but had a slight suspicion that she was intruding on some kind of pack type business. "Well, I suppose I had best get onto that learning routes." The fae had every intention of slinking off, but was cautious about it, leaving time for protests. She'd rather not get in trouble for constantly running off, but she assumed that the other male had wanted Ajax for something in particular. She had clearly taken up too much of the Alpha's time already, what with it having now become full dark. She hoped that this all wouldn't come back to bite her somehow.

The fae spoke in a flighty tone. She held a polite stance and her tail wagged slowly. Her tail was a little bottle-brush, giving Hanskah the impression that she was not quite as comfortable as she was trying to seem. Hanskah sat down and arched his neck a little. Perhaps his height had intimidated her. His golden eyes gazed just past her. Eye contact was rude and often considered a challenge amongst the wolves. With such a shy fae, he was best to be careful.

"Well, I suppose I had best get onto that learning routes." She murmured before preparing to take off. Hanskah popped up to his feet and trotted to her side. If they were to hunt, she might come in handy.

"Ajax, I was thinking tonight would be a wonderful night to hunt. The herd must be around here somewhere." The brute could smell the musk left behind by the elk. He was ravenous. He turned to the Tau fae. "If we do hunt, you might want to stay around," He gave bowed his head respectfully. "My name is Hanskah, but it's alright if you call me Skah. What might be your name?" His tail bounced for eight beats from side to side.

The Tau kind of reminded him of his sister, Nauja. The ebony fae had been more cold than timid, but still very distanced from the pack. She had arrived a dog on a chain. Survival was the only thing that meant anything to her. Hanskah shook the image of the brute-ish fae from his mind. He wondered what types of things this fae had encountered before joining the Archon. "Once bitten, twice shy." He concluded.

Ajax seemed to be a surveying the area. While Hanskah kept most of his attention on the fae, he couldn't help but notice his leader's posture. Hanskah just hoped they would hunt.

Ajax looked up as they were joined by a white-pelted brute; Skah, one of Archon's Deltas. He had been half expecting a visit from one of them before long, and he chuckled at the brute's request. It was by far the best time of year for hunting, and though he had just eaten, Ajax almost bristled at the thought of the thrill of the hunt.

Skah and Ceniza exchanged pleasantries. The other brute picked up on her anxiousness and reacted accordingly. The fae wanted to make herself scarce, and Skah wanted another member to hunt. Ajax wasn't going to force her to join, but on the flip side he didn't know how well she'd do in a group hunt. There were no shortages of members on whom he knew he could undeniably rely. With a large hunt, he didn't want any unknown variables. He mulled it over for a minute before coming to a decision. "Ceniza, I'd like you to meet me at my den tomorrow at dusk," he nodded. It was an order and a dismissal, if she wished it to be. He hoped the fae wouldn't be too relieved, but it would give her time to calm down, rest, and prepare herself.

Ajax then turned to Skah, "how good of you to join. Sidus and Nox are on patrol at the moment. I would like to think they are nearly finished. I shall meet with them and get their report. See if you can find Jetta or one of the other Deltas and I shall meet you at the mountain trails before dawn. We'll get a hunt tonight, don't worry. I shall join, so if there is a minimum of three of us, that should do just fine. Any more Deltas is just a bonus."

The Alpha threw his muzzle back and let out a howl, a message for Nox and Sidus to state their position. Often, most reports were given at the densite, but with so many wolves scattered through the territory, it was harder. Ajax would wait for the returning call before heading in the direction of the patrol.

He got to his paws and shook his fur out, grinning at the Delta brute. "First large hunt of the year. Are you rested and ready?" the Alpha asked. He had faith in the Deltas. They had a hard job keeping such a big pack well fed, and they hadn't failed yet. In truth, Ajax was excited about the prospect of he hunt. The patrol report would contain vital information for the successful hunt - herd numbers, position, movement, any young, sick or old animals. It meant they would not need to follow a herd for ages, that they could target animals from the get go and save both time and energy. The Alpha tingled with anticipation, ears perked all the while for the answering howls of the current patrol.

Ceniza

        In the rain,
        The pavement
        Shines
        Like silver
        All the lights
        Are misty
        In the river
        In the darkness
        The trees are
        Full of starlight

As the paler male moved to her side Ceniza was left to wonder what he was thinking. She really couldn't tell what his purpose in coming nearer to her was, especially when he then spoke to Ajax and not to her. Surely he should have either stayed put or approached the other brute if speaking to him was his intention. She wasn't threatened by the new wolf; his motives just confused her somewhat. The fae wasn't able to control her reaction however when a hunt was mentioned. Her ears pricked up and the flash of excitement was obvious in just the way she stood, even if she did remain still.

It felt like an eternity since she had last been part of a pack hunt or hunted with anyone for that matter. For what seemed the longest time she had hunted alone, taking down just enough to fill her own belly. The only challenge in that was catching it. The smaller prey seemed the more agile really, to her at least. Still, perhaps she would be intruding? Being as low ranking in the pack and not a designated hunter after all. Maybe it wasn't her place to be part of the hunt. Though it did feel like Hanskah was inviting her along, perhaps it would be alright for her to tag along and be part of it.

Her spirits somewhat lifted by what felt like friendliness from the Delta, the female seemed to have an easier time finding her voice. "I'm Ceniza." Now not only did he know her name, but she had learned the name of another of the pack. Hopefully before too long she would be able to say with confidence that she knew every pack member's name and really be pack of the group. All she had to do was prove herself, prove that she was a worthwhile member and not just some stray that had wandered in to get free meals and laze about. This could be her first step in doing that; showing she could work in a team, as a unit, for the better of the pack.

Or not. The Alpha wolf's few words to her sounded like little else than a dismissal. A very final one at that. It sounded much to her as a way of saying he did not expect to see her again before that time and to stay out of trouble and out of the way until then. Ceniza's ears flattened, she'd been dismissed by her previous Alpha before, although he often used even fewer words. Clearly from that moment on the fae was no longer required, as nothing else said was directed at her. Probably best to get on and do what she had said she would then.

She gave a respectful bow of the head to Ajax to show her acceptance and understanding before looking to Hanskah. "I hope to see you again before too long, Hanskah." With that she turned from the pair and trotted off across the plains. She needed to find a place to settle down for the night anyway, it was worth looking whilst she learned some of the terrain. Hopefully she find a place out of the way, the fae did not yet feel secure enough in her new location to sleep out in the open. She headed eastward; there was a forest there and a large one at that. It would be good to learn at least some of its interior, being able to learn all of it was certainly not something she could manage in one night, and if she was lucky she might find an old abandoned den somewhere amongst the trunks that she could rest in.

It was a warm day and had been a little unbearable for the fae and she sought shelter from the heat. As the sun had set it had cooled down, becoming more pleasant for the fae. Sometimes it was hard to have a dark coat, especially during the summer, but it paid off on hunts late at night, hiding her from her prey. Vaermina stretched her long limbs and yawned and then rolled in the cool blades of grass to scratch an itch on her back. Rolling back to her paws she stood and shook her pelt free of dirt and grass. She took a deep breath of the night air and let it out with a huff. The night was young and she was full of energy. Perhaps a run would help. Darting off she let her paws carry her towards the low plains. Wind whipped through her pelt, paws pounded against the hard packed ground. It was exhilarating to just run. She felt alive and free when she did, her lithe form gliding swiftly over the ground.

Her run slowed to a trot and finally to a walk. Her sides rose and fell swiftly as she panted from her run. Even though the run had exhausted her some she felt compelled to keep moving. She continued to walk, letting her pulse return to a steady rhythm, moving further into the lower plains. Vaermina paused as she heard a howl rise into the air. She recognized it as her alpha, Ajax. He was calling to Sidus and Nox. She wondered what he wanted to see them for but knew it was none of her business. Her curiosity won out though and she made her way towards the howl.

When she found her alpha she also saw another wolf, the delta Hanskah, though he usually went by Skah. Tail wagging friendly she approached the two brutes, head lowered in respect. “Hello alpha Ajax, delta Skah.” She said to the two brutes, stopping a couple feet away from them. When she first joined Archon she’d been nervous around all the wolves, at least until she got to know them better. She was still a little timid at times around them but her confidence had grown while living with them. She felt safe and secure with Ajax, he was the alpha of the pack and protected and cared for them all, and Skah was a nice wolf too. “I know the howl wasn’t meant for me but I was near and my curiosity had just gotten to better of me.” She admitted, lowering her eyes sheepishly. Now she was having second thoughts about following the alpha’s howl. Perhaps she should have just ignored it and returned to the dens. “I’m sorry, it’s none of my business. I was just curious.” Vaermina let her eyes drift up to the alpha to gauge his reaction to her showing up unexpectedly. Even though she’d grown used to her new pack, her younger years being picked on by her pack and siblings was still ingrained in her and she was afraid she’d done something she should not have.

"I'm Ceniza" This time the fae spoke in a much bolder tone. Hanskah smiled gently. Perhaps this little fae would prove herself a worthy member of Archon. At Ajax's dismissal she dipped her head to both brutes politely. "I hope to see you again before too long, Hanskah." Skah exchanged the gesture. His eyes were woft as he gazed upon the fae.

"Ceniza...that's quite a lovely name. Take care." He offered a friendly wink as she padded off. He then turned to Ajax. The ebony brute seemed to be surveying the area. A well attuned Delta himself, Hanskah lifted his maw to sky and drew a deep breath. There was a strong smell of elk musk on the breeze. As Hanskah did so, the Alpha wolf released a howl directed to a patrol. Hanskah waited patiently for him to complete his call. The last of the low notes faded off and Ajax turned to Skah. The dark brute wore a wide grin.

"First large hunt of the year. Are you rested and ready? He asked. Hanskah could sense his leader's anticipation. When even the mighty Alpha looked ravenous, it was time to hunt. Hanskah nodded. Not a wolf to tell a lie, Hanskah didn't utter a word. The truth was, he hadn't slept well in a while. His sleep was haunted by dreams of his natal pack. He would wake up panting and his nest a-mess.

Not wanting to linger on those thoughts, he shook his head violently in hopes to rid of them. His gaze shifted to the horizon in which a little ebony fae was trotting over. He wagged his tail in excitement. "Nauja must have heard Ajax and come to report!" He thought to himself. To his acute disappointment however, the fae was not at all Nauja. It was Vaermina, a pack member. The fae lowered her head in respect as she approached the brutes. Hanskah rose to his feet and wagged his tail slowly. His eyes flashed just past the fae and he nodded his acknowledgements.

“Hello alpha Ajax, delta Skah.” She said, stopping only a little ways away from where he stood. Hanskah, though appreciative of the formal greeting, was a little flustered by her appropriateness. It was different with the Tau fae he had just spoken with. This young fae was a pack member.

"Hello." His reply was simple, but that was plenty for the time. The ivory brute slid back down into a sitting position. He felt as though he would be staying a little longer. Then he would seek out the other Deltas.
