Otto awoke, pieces of what had happened slowly shifting into place. He recalled there being a sudden alarm as the recently fixed portal was overcome. Tendrils and hands pulling hunters into it.
So.. where was he now?
Just fog. Thick, encompassing fog. He called out, but his voice hardly carried at all. With a groan, he got to his feet. All alone again...

Eva was really starting to get tired of this fog business. Despite knowing that it was pointless to even try, the girl reached out and gave a half-hearted wave of her hand, trying to dispel the fog. She couldn't see anything--not where she was, nor whether there was anyone else out here.
..."Anyone else" being either a friend or one of those insanity creatures. In either case, Eva would much prefer to know than be left in the dark like this.
"HellooooOOOOO?" Ignoring Chara's protests, Eva cupped her hands around her mouth, breaking the silence with a rather loud call. "Anyone out there?"

It was faint, but despite the lack of echo in the dense fog, he caught the sound of Eva's voice.
Otto approached the dim silhouette of his friend in the fog, slowly until he recognized her. "Eva?" He asked, tapping her shoulder to be sure he wasn't hallucinating.
His gaze moved round where they were, trying to catch anything else in the dense fog. He dared not let his guard down, even with Eva present. Or maybe it was especially because she was present.
Eva nearly jumped out of her skin at the sudden voice accompanied by the touch on her shoulder. She whirled around, holding Chara up and over her head like a baseball bat...only to nearly drop her weapon in relief when she realized who it was. Without hesitation, she threw her arms around the boy in a hug.
"Puppy! Thank god you're safe." As if to confirm this fact, she drew up and looked him up and down. Satisfied that he wasn't hurt too badly, she let go of him and made a vague gesture towards their surroundings.
"How long have you been wandering out here? To be honest, I'm not really sure where 'here' is..."

"Glad you're safe too..." Welp! Eva hug. he should have seen it coming, really. What was more surprising was he was growing so used to them, he even half hugged her back.
With one arm, cause that'd what cool guys do, right?
"Um.. not long. I just sort of woke up.."

Oh ho, that wasn't really the response she had been expecting! Eva had been expecting a snarky, "of course I'm safe" as opposed to his greeting (he had even hugged her back!), but that didn't mean that she was complaining. He really was different from the Otto she had met way back when she first woke up at Deus Ex.
"So we're in the same boat," Eva smiled wryly, turning to eye the fog with a little grimace, "The fact that I can hardly see a few feet in front of me doesn't help things, and--...is that a light up ahead?"
...Or was she seeing things? Fingers grasping Chara a little more tightly, the girl squinted in the direction of the light.
"Is it?" Otto replied back, looking for whatever light Eva seemed to be looking at. "I dunno... it's too murky to see." Was a light enough of a clue to go on? It was that or sit in the fog and pray, really.
"C'mon.. let's check it out... slowly." No sense walking into a trap.

"Sounds like a plan," Eva murmured, instinctively lowering her voice to a softer volume. Careful to stick close to the blond boy, she slowly began to make her way forward, noting with some interest--and confusion--that there seemed to be more than one light.
"...What do you think, Puppy?" As they neared one of the lights, Eva felt herself shiver slightly. Was that one giving off a slightly...cold feel to it? How strange. What were the others like?
"I dunno.. following lights? That is just asking for trouble." Otto murmured to Eva. "Let's look for something else."

Seeming content with Otto's reply, Eva gave a small nod of agreement before carrying on, ignoring the strange, cold light. As they continued on, they passed a similar light, except this one seemed to be giving off a strangely warm sensation. Again, they moved past it.
However, when they reached a third light, the girl frowned and turned to look at the blond with a questioning look. "There sure are a lot of these things aren't there? Honestly, I wonder what they are?"
She took a hesitant step towards the light, only to flinch when Chara suddenly let out a sharp order for her to get back right now. Unfortunately, she was not fast enough, finding herself being flung backwards as something swung out and hit her.
What they were was nothing good. Otto and Eva were flung back. Whosoever was beyond that light, they didn't want to be found by two hunters. Otto staggered back after the nasty hit, rubbing his arm gingerly.
"Well so much for that plan...Yall right, Eva?" His eyes looked around as the fog shifted into something like Fright Night had been. His hand moved to tough a post, but it lost its shape as he did so.
"What's goin' on now..."

Wincing, Eva wrapped her arm around her middle as she pushed herself back to her feet, stumbling slightly but managing to catch herself at the last second. Letting out a sheepish laugh, she turned to look at Otto with a small smile.
"A little...winded, but not...too bad," She replied, dropping her arm as she slowly straightened up again, "What about you?"
The girl froze then, her muscles tensing as she suddenly heard a strange, phantom laughter from within the fog. Slowly, things began to shift...and instead of finding themselves lost within a thick, shapeless fog, they were suddenly at a festival. She brushed her fingers against some of the objects like how Otto was, noting how her fingers simply passed through. Some kind of illusion, huh?
And then, from the corner of her eye, she noticed a part of fog coming right for them.
"I'm fine." Otto replied quickly, staring out as the fog continued to make shapes.
The figures that soon appeared made Otto a little more convinced this was some sort of trap. He'd seen so many traps in his short life it was getting easier to tell. He did not recognize the figure speaking. The familiar figures behind them made him shudder. All of them hunters. Familiar hunters, Staring and judging. Nightmare fuel he often dreamed about on his own without the aid of a fog monster. Despite feeling it was an illusion, a trap, it was no less unsettling.
But he had Eva with him. The real Eva. As long as he wasn't alone, he didn't buy into what was being shown. Not for now.
Otto whispered to Eva, "I dunno bout you but I ain't buyin into this s**t. We gotta get outta here."
Otto rfelt uneasy as he realized he couldn't even move. His feet planted in the ground. Even his arms and neck, stiff. He could think, breathe, talk. Nothing more.
s**t.
"Let us go. We didn't take nothin'.." Unless it was a Horsemen, then uuh... "Or at least let her go." He murmured, thinking more of Eva than himself. If anything, if she was let go, she could go get help. He'd seen and been through so much already. He'd endure more if it meant Eva would be spared.

The sudden appearance of a figure was not entirely unexpected--after all, Eva had been certain that something was going to show up--and she was actually a little relieved to see it. After all...at least it wasn't a giant monster, right?
...Didn't look like one right now, at least.
Unfortunately, she felt a bit of panic flit through her when she realized that she couldn't move, her body suddenly stiff and immobile. This panic was only elevated when she focused on the other figures that stood behind the first, her heart skipping a beat when she realized that they were all very familiar--and very dear--faces. Reine, Clerise, Gale, Jude...
...And there was Otto. Upon seeing him, the girl actually let out a mental sigh of relief. That meant that the things behind the figure were simply illusions, right? After all, the real Otto was right beside her.
She opened her mouth to insist that they did not take whatever it was this person was looking for, only to be startled when she caught the blond boy's murmur. Wait, he...? She tried to turn to look at him, only grit her teeth in frustration when her neck wouldn't move.
"For the last time, we didn't take anything from you!"
