********* had gone to visit Ellie in the evening to give a status report as to Eunomia's most recent encounter with danger. It had left the new Super senshi quite injured, and whether or not Eunomia's pride would be damaged by the information spreading around, it needed to be spread to the right people.

Though the team's captain seemed contemptuous as usual when it came to the subject of Eunomia, there was an underlying concern with the information she was told.

"You did the right thing..."

Those were Ellie's words to her. Of course, the blonde girl wasn't going to keep the manx around, and the manx wasn't going to hang around too long. ********* had work to do and places to go and people to see.

However, Ellie's home being close to the park always was quite a problem. It was very distracting, since many energies of order and chaos tended to pop up in the park. For this evening, she was fortunate that the energy she sensed was order. It was not a senshi, which left only one other option.

Blindly, the manx followed the energy, each little step she took jingling out a merry little sound. Whichever Page it was that she was sensing would pretty easily be able to tell that she was approaching.

Bell collars weren't exactly quiet.

Kicking rocks was probably not the most page-ly thing Aventine could have been doing, but when there wasn't a youma or any other chaos signature in the area, she just wasn’t sure what to do. There hadn't even seemed to be any other knights or senshi in the area for her to chat up, so kicking rocks was just about the only thing keeping her out here. It was strangely mind numbing, in a peaceful, nostalgic way. She could mindlessly follow the rock and nudge it with the toe of her shoes without applying too much thought, all the while letting her thoughts wander. She walked at a slow pace, fingers laced together behind her back.

She had plenty to consider, and something about the night just made it so easy to reflect on past happenings—particularly considering all that had happened since she first awakened. Mostly she focused on the bad, if only because the good was easy to accept. The bad—not so much. Her forehead still hurt when thinking of Nickeline, and she was certain some of the other wrongly aligned senshi had let their fair share of marks. Even now some of them seemed to be aching.

She let out a heavy sigh—and then blinked when she heard the faintest tingling noise in the very near area—and then realized that the bell wasn't the only thing she was picking up.

She might still be learning, but she could still how to pick up an aura, and she knew that one was close. Thankfully, it wasn't the sort that would send shivers down her spine, so she breathed a sigh of relief. Still, not being able to see someone was annoying, so she called out a faint, "Hello?" as her eyes scanned the nearby area.

Someone had obviously noticed her presence. A female someone. The voice was a giveaway. If the manx was reading the energy signal right, it was most likely a Page.

Which in itself didn't say much to her. The knights as a whole were quite varied compared to the senshi. Perhaps her view was skewed a bit, since fukus did have a tendency to vary quite a bit, but the Mauvian felt that fukus were fukus and didn't vary nearly as much as the uniforms the knights wore.

Eventually the source of energy came into view (far earlier than it probably did for the Page trying to locate the guardian cat), and in a jovial tone, the manx asked as she trotted forward "Might I ask what that poor rock did to you, Miss Page?" She chuckled at the end, signaling she was just teasing.

Aventine blinked as the cat emerged and—thankfully—this hone was far easier to find than the one in the tree. And seemed immediately to be a fair bit more friendly. "Oh, I just."

She looked at the rock, for the briefest second wondering if she had some reason to feel bad for it. Was it some magical sentient being, too?

…Oh, please, that was stupid.

"Yeaaaaah," she draweled when she realized she didn't have a particularly good reason for having kicked it. "I was just thinking a lot, that's all."

It still felt weird talking to a creature that could understand what you were saying while still looking so damn cute. She crouched as the cat approached, as one might to do hold a conversation with a small child. "—And it's not 'Miss Page', just Aventine, I think. What about you?"

The feline let out another chuckle as the girl crouched down in front of her. "I apologize, but you see... I don't just magically know the names of knights. It's not my specialty... my specialty is more towards senshi, Aventine."

She nodded her head at the inquiry and rather easily lowered her upper body into a sort of kitty-bow. "My name is *********... and as you can see, I am a cat! Now..."

She lifted her upper body up and sat her haunches down where she had been standing. "...being a cat, I am of a curious nature... might I ask what you were thinking about? If it isn't too personal that is. I wouldn't want to pry where I am not wanted."

Well, if that wasn't just the cutest damned thing she'd ever seen. Aventine couldn't wipe the grin from her lips; she seemed just tickled at ********* antics. "Tons," she confessed, figuring there couldn't be any harm.

…Though, she'd been wrong before.

"I suppose I'm still trying to figure this whole thing out. You specialize in senshi?" she asked. The tip of her shoes were biting into her toes a bit at this angle and she was quickly becoming uncomfortable, so she rocked herself backwards until she flopped onto the ground beneath her. Getting off her feet for a minute or two sounded great—and felt spectacular.

"What does that mean you do, exactly? —Is there someone that specializes in knights, too?"

New knight was new, and it was seemingly apparent to the feline as the girl seemed to question the feline. After the girl had managed to get herself onto the ground, ********* did not seem to see any reason against claiming a spot in the girl's makeshift lap. Immediately she sprang into action, popping into the girl's lap, scrambling to make herself a nice resting spot.

"Mmmm... cozy!" she cooed aloud before she proceeded to get to some business. "Yes... I specialize in senshi. You see... cats... like myself... specialize in senshi. You can say we have a sort of connection with the group. A cat with a sort of star upon their forehead usually is what many call a 'guardian cat'... though, some have much darker stars...."

There was a pause as she let out a sigh. "There are some that have been taken by the Negaverse..." There was another sigh, louder than the first before the feline shook her head (accented with a jingling sound of her collar) and seemed to perk up slightly.

"I do not know if there are any who specialize in knights to be honest... I've met several knights, so in all honesty... I think that might be your best bet. Try to seek out other knights?"

When ********* moved into Aventine's lap, she was absolutely delighted. A smile drew onto her face and she immediately set about petting the cat's soft fur. Guardian or not, she couldn't resist petting anything so damn cute. If this wasn't motivation enough to want to get a cat, she didn't know what was.

"I guess I can do that," she replied; it seemed like a sensible thing to do. "I've met some already." Caelian had been helpful, and Troy was…special, in his own way. "But…I guess I didn't have all the right questions prepared for them. It was more like, 'Ah, oh my god, what is that thing!'"she exclaimed in mock shriek. She calmed quickly and moved so that she could pet ********* with both hands. It was instinctively that she went for the underbelly, whisking her fingers over the fur pleasantly. "I met one cat before you—Zirconia? She wasn't all that friendly but she didn't seem bad. What happens to the kitties that go with the Negaverse?"

********* had seemed disappointed, though beyond knowing that the Negaverse was bad, she was relatively limited in knowledge of their practices.

Not all cats enjoyed having their underbelly touched. However, ********* seemed perfectly at ease with fingers tickling at her tummy. She wasn't quite purring yet, but she seemed comfortable enough.

With a brief chuckle, she commented "I take it you met them right as you learned what a Youma was?" It was honestly one of the few things that she could think of that would yield such a predictable reaction. She had seen many a fresh senshi show up, have that reaction, then be expected to not only confront the youma, but to defeat the youma as well.

The mention of a familiar cat caused her ears to perk up, and at the description nod her head. "Zirconia... um... how to say it nicely..." How did one call her soul older than dirt without offending the not-even-present feline. Eventually it was silently decided that maybe it would be wisest to not even contribute with the mention of age.

"Well... she's had a rough time of it... so her mood isn't exactly all that stellar at times." That was probably the best way to address Zirconia's situation at best.

Since it had been asked, the manx did easily answer part of the problem with going to the Negaverse. "...well... number one, they lose their memories... that's kinda a really big bummer."
PostPosted: Sat Oct 20, 2012 10:50 pm

Aventine nodded at ********* question of youma, though was eager to learn more about both Zirconia and corrupted cats, so managed to keep her mouth closed. While she would have liked to pry more about Zirconia, she figured it best not to put ********* in the uncomfortable position of telling someone else's story. Had ********* willingly generated more information, she might have asked more about the topic, though that she had sort of glazed over actually teling her much about the other cat, Aventine focused instead on the topic of the Negaverse. "That sounds horrible," she said, brows knit as she pondered the situation. Her fingers hadn't stopped gliding over ********* first, nor did she give any indication that she was growing tired of petting the cat.

"Memories are like. The one thing you keep with you your entire life." Until you get dementia and start forgetting everything, but—hey. That was grandma's story, not hers. "Did they like, not know what they were sacrificing when they went with the Negaverse or something? I just can't imagine anyone willingly doing something like that when there's so much at stake…aren't the Negaverse bad, anyway?"

An ear flicked on her head. "Well... I am not certain if the Negaverse was something they willingly were recruited for. I have never been witness to a conversion... but if they handle it like how they have handled a few senshi in the past as well... they were possibly taken by force..."

It was a sore subject, but ********* was willing to put the information out there with as much of a smile as she could. The more knowledge the knights and the senshi had, the more power they had to prevent things from getting worse.

The question of the Negaverse in the scheme of all things should have been easy to answer, black and white. However, any Mauvian worth their title as guardian would have looked at a few of the shades of grey. "Overall, the Negaverse is a force of chaos, and forces of chaos have a tendency to not look out for the well being of those around it. They seem to want others to merge, or else you are an obstacle in the way. In the past they were known to slaughter humans... everyday normal people... just to reep starseeds from them. I have heard some of the soldiers amongst their ranks claim they do everything for the well being of the Earth. So, killing for their vision of a 'greater good'... which doesn't feel like a greater good in all honesty."

The feline heaved a sigh, seeming to snuggle into the lap a bit more. "However, not everyone goes to the Negaverse willingly. Which only means... that not everyone in the Negaverse truly 'fits in'... not everyone is bad in the Negaverse. What the Negaverse does is bad, but there is a chance not everyone believes in what they do..."

********* rolled her head as best as she could to face Aventine. She chuckled lightly. "I don't know if that was the answer you were looking for... but alas, things aren't just dry and cut when it comes to the things going on in this city..."

Aventine's lips pursed in thought, and she realized it was probably a very good idea she'd bumped into the cat tonight. She'd had her doubts about their opponents, though anyone that was going to force themselves or something on another was guaranteed to be someone that needed to be put down—no matter how nice they could act.

Of course, she couldn’t even cling to ********* insightful information for long before she was drifting back into uncertainty. Initially, she was certain that ********* was leading her into all the reasons why she shouldn't take the Negaverse lightly, and how they were all terrible, bad villains—though by the end, she found herself not having the faintest clue what to take of them.

So, the Negaverse could pluck anyone into their ranks, regardless of their wishes? So not all of them were bad?

Some of them…could be saved? Some might actually be allies?

"I don't know if that's the answer I was looking for either," Aventine confessed, "but it's a damn fine answer if I ever heard one. I guess there's a lot of food for thought, there. Kinda makes me wonder what exactly I should be doing, like—fighting them? Or trying to fix them?"

"If I were to were to offer my two cents... I'd say that the duty of a knight would be similar to a senshi's... in that... you protect the innocents." There were plenty of people who were not involved in this strange war of Chaos and Order who were constantly put into the middle of the crossfire. Youma constantly snatching them up for energy or starseeds, and the agents frequently using them as potential hostages.

"Fight when necessary, but you don't have to go out looking for a fight... if that makes sense?"

Her nose twitched and eventually she seemed to roll to having her belly facing the knight. With both of her paws, she reached out towards Aventine a bit.

"Okay... this is a random change of subject... but I have to say... you smell nice!"

This cat was too damn cute.

How was Aventine supposed to focus on all this helpful information when ********* was being so damned adorable? She just wanted to hunch over and tickle her little belly, or take each of her paws in her hand and squeeze her little feet.

It was too hard to resist.

Aventine flashed a smile and then combed her fingers through the fur on ********* underbelly, fingers whisking over the cat's belly.

"Thank you!" she replied pleasantly. "It's the perfume, probably. I've been playing with it." She moved one hand from ********* to reach for the perfume she'd tucked down her bodice. Presenting it with one hand, she sloshed it around in its pretty little bottle. "I'm not totally sure what I'm supposed to do with it other than freshen up, but hearsay is that one day it'll do something." It was obvious that Aventine didn't have a whole lot of faith in that idea, though she shrugged and offered, "You want a spritz?"

The manx's nose twitched as the perfume bottle was presented to her. It got close to her, and she seemed to paw at it slightly, as if trying to grab onto it and drag it closer to her for further investigation.

She chuckled a bit before mentioning "Well, I honestly don't know... as I mentioned... my specialty is senshi, not knights. However, you are probably right. Probably will do something handy a bit later."

She tilted her head a bit to the right at the final question. "Hmmm... somehow I think that would be a waste on someone such as myself. I am not really an indoor cat, so the smell wouldn't last very long if at all."
