Aventine had met all sorts in the days following her awakening as a Page of Venus. She had met Dark Mirror Senshi, Negaverse Agents, Corrupt Senshi, cats, normal senshi—and yet, of all the people she could have run into this evening, it had to be a youma.

No, it couldn't be a nice ally or something—couldn't be a friend to help her out or reassure her that this whole gig was totally worth it. She was still a bit shaken from her battles—not because she'd never been in a brawl before, but because she still seemed to be struggling to get the hang of things.

She could handle a few bruises if that meant she could understand this whole war a little better, but youma? Well, ******** them, all they did was his and spit and try to kill you.

She had known only a few number of these so-called youma, and was increasingly impressed with the number that crept through the night unnoticed. Maybe she had been blind before, or maybe they were just more attracted to her now that she was powered up. Either way, they all seemed to want to kill her.

Case in point: the giant ******** bug in front of her.

She'd snuck up on it—accidentally; while pushing her way through the bushes, she'd kicked it. It had been even less impressed than she was.

For a few minutes now (she wasn't sure how long) they'd been trying to best each other. It had the advantage of being larger than her—a big, Mantis type creature with four legs to run on and two scythe like arms it had been swiping at her with. She had avoided them thus far—and even injured one, so far as she could tell. The youma had been favoring it's left limb, though instead of hindering it, it had came at her twice as hard with the right.

Even now, when she thought she'd had the upper hand, it was proving particularly difficult. She had thrown a rock—thought she'd blinded it in one eye—but the pain had only spurned it to fight harder. She was attempting to regain her footing even as it was priming to attack. One scythe-like appendage drew to the sky, and it was with a sinister, screech-like clicking noise that it prepared to strike her.

When Troy detected the aura of a nearby Knight, he quickly got excited. It was nice - and apparently rare - to be on patrol and come across a fellow good guy (or girl) instead of a bad guy (or girl). However, as he ran towards the aura he realized that he couldn't have it all - his fellow Knight was in danger with a gross insect-like youma ready to strike down upon her.

He had to do the noble thing. He couldn't let this poor girl be youma food! He needed to act like in the movies - act like a Knight in shining armor swooping in to rescue her.

"Hey, you mother ********! Get the ******** away from her!" he shouted. Okay, so he wasn't quite the prince charming in his word choice. He charged forward and full-body tackled the youma just in time to push it away from the other Knight, but that wasn't his best idea.

Or maybe it was. He didn't have many good ideas.

The youma quickly picked itself back up, now toppling Troy over and standing over him, its monstrous mouth clipping away just a yard away from his own face.

"Aw, s**t," Troy groaned. He tried to pick himself up, but the youma's legs were pinning him down.

Aventine had been so caught up with the youma that she hadn't even realized there was another person with her until she heard—and saw—him come into vision. She ought to have been grateful that some knight in shining armor had come to her rescue, but instead she couldn’t help but feel a bit offended that someone had caught her in a moment of weakness.

Occasionally she could have a soft spot for handsome men there to rescue damsels in distress, but she hardly considered herself as such. She totally had all of that under control.

"Are you trying to get yourself killed!?" she demanded, impressed by his initiative, but discouraged that he'd interfered. She wasn't just about to leave that poor guy to be the youma's next meal—plus, she had to redeem herself and show him that she didn't need saving. At least, not half as much as he did.

Lunging from her position, she hoped that the youma had taken enough damage that it was going to crumble soon. She was particularly vicious, and even as she went on with her own full body tackle, with one hand she beat it over the head with her perfume bottle, and with the other she was trying to claw out its eyes.

Jesus ********.

This girl was psychotic! He knew girls could fight dirty, but he hadn't expected her to go all out like that. He wasn't sure if he was intimidated or intrigued by her, or both. He watched as she clawed at the beast's eyes, bashing at its skull until it burst into youma dust.

"Damn girl," Troy gasped as he picked himself off the ground. "Ya sure know how to take care of yerself, huh? I reckon its a good thing I saved ya then, else ya'd have been all...you know. Dead. And that ain't much help to nobody."

"Name's Ricky Cunningha---s**t," he stopped himself. "Troy Page, I mean. My name's Troy Page."

Aventine was slightly out of breath by the time the youma puffed into a cloud of dust, and even then she hastened to upright herself. She immediately set about fixing her hair before she turned to 'Ricky Cunningashit-slash-Troy'.

…Cunning as s**t was probably close enough, and she had half a mind to let him know that. Unless he was using an alias to try and get someone else in trouble, but right now she wasn't so sure about that.

"Saved me?" she questioned, in a tone that said she disagreed with his statement. "Well, Troy Page," she huffed, closing the distance between them so they could speak conversationally. "Hate to burst your bubble, but you didn't save me. I think you've got who did what a little backwards. Aventine," she introduced, a fair share of pride in her voice as she tried to put that display behind them.

Processing....processing...and understanding!

"What?" he asked dumbly, a bit of a delayed response. What world did this girl live in? "Nah, you're just kiddin' right? You'd be more deader than my Fat Aunt Gertrude's sat-on cat if it weren't for me. I mean, I reckon you helped me out a little, but I saved you first Miss...Aveline....Valentine...er, ********, I forgot your name already."

She shouldn't feel bad about that though. He'd been on dates where he forgot the girl's name, so surely forgetting the name of a girl who just introduced herself thirty seconds ago was excusable. Right?

"Aventine! How could you just—did that thing hit you in the head or something?" she demanded, more upset that he was insisting she needed to be saved than that he'd forgotten her name. Of course, maybe he had a point. She did distinctly remember bracing herself to be hit when he'd jumped in—but that didn't mean anything.

What were the chances that the thing would have killed her, anyway? For all she knew, it would have missed. "Do you need me to take you to the hospital and drop you off there? —I mean. Maybe that thing whacked you a little too hard when you were 'saving the day' or whatever you wanna call it." Judging by the way she threw her hands into the air and waggled her fingers dramatically, she still wasn't ready to acknowledge that maybe he'd just done her a hell of a favor by barging in like that.

"Naw, I didn't hit my head," Troy shrugged. Why did people always ask him if he hit his head? Normally its phrased as asking if he hit his head as a baby, but how would he know the answer to that? Some people asked the silliest questions. People could be so stupid like that sometimes! Jeez! "Definitely can't go to the hospital, ain't like I got any of them medical insurance or nothing. Not that I even need to go or anything just uh..."

His mind was losing its train of thought.

"You all okay though?" he asked. "It'd be a shame for you to get hurt. Even if you don't thank me for helpin' you from dyin' and all."

Aventine pursed her lips even as she crossed her arms over her chest. "Yeah, well. Thanks," she grumbled, finally admitting that maybe she owed Troy that much. "And you're welcome for saving your a**, too."

…That way they were at least even. Aventine, much as she might not like to admit that anyone had saved her, could at least tolerate it if they were on even terms. "…But I gotta ask. How, exactly do you keep up this job and not have medical insurance? Kinda seems like. —Do you have a death wish or something?"

Her demeanor had shifted; she seemed a bit more conversational instead of agitated, though there was an undeniably judgmental tone to her voice.

"This ain't my job," Troy said with confusion. Was she getting paid for this? ********, he'd love to be paid for this! "Nah, for money I uh..." Well, he had no shame in really...anything, but it was always awkward to talk about his new job with strangers. Not that she knew who he was, or anything. "...I take my clothes off. I also take care of people's bushes and things."

That probably came out much dirtier than intended, but oh well.

"I don't really get insurance from them jobs," he said, then finally realizing her meaning. "Aw, wait. Though if you just mean job like...thing that you do or something, then I reckon you got a point there."

He never really thought about what he would do if he was seriously injured in battle.

"And uh, thanks, don't mean to have forgotten."

Rather taken aback still by his first statement, Aventine was too caught up thinking about that to really appreciate his gratitude. It took her, perhaps, a bit too long to realize that he was talking about two jobs, though she still blinked slowly. "Ohhh," she mouthed, nodding. "—Wait, so are you a stripper or model or something?"

Or a prostitute?

Not that she was looking.

There was something rather amusing about the idea of Troy taking off his clothes, and it wasn't long before Aventine was giving him a good look over, trying to figure out what he looked like under that savvy getup.
PostPosted: Fri Oct 26, 2012 10:01 pm

"Nah, I ain't a model," Troy laughed. s**t, he was already taking his clothes off for money. Why hadn't he thought of modeling? "I strip though, yeah. You can come see my show if you want...er...that sounded creepy didn't it?"

He was more or less inviting a girl he just met to see him almost naked, but after just the few weeks of stripping there'd been countless girls that have seen him that indecent without so much as giving him their name. Well, maybe their name and phone number scribbled on a dollar bill he'd pull out of his g-string at the end of the night, but that totally didn't count.

But he couldn't help but notice her checking him out, so maybe it wasn't completely off base.

Arms still crossed, she raised a hand to her face and tapped on her cheek thoughtfully for a few seconds before she nodded. "You know, I've never been to a strip joint. It's on my list of things to do before I kick the bucket, but I was kinda thinking I'd be an old, windowed granny before I hit up a place like that. A girl could get a bad rep for hanging out in joints like that, you know. Of course, if you're inviting me, it would be rude to decline. Or, you know. I could take you out to dinner or something and you could give me a private show back home," she offered, unable to resist.

He might not have been the brightest guy she'd met this week, but by no means was he the most unattractive. The grin on her face made it difficult to tell if she was flirting or teasing, though she'd have been satisfied if he took it either way.

"I've never done a private show before unless you mean like--oh."

"Erm," Troy scratched the back of his head. Yeahhhhhhhhhh boyyyyy, he thought to himself, and the dopey grin on his red face made that pretty clear. Especially as he was now the one being unsubtle about checking her out. Normally he liked to be the one to ask a girl out and pay for the dinner, but he wasn't exactly going to turn down a free dinner or a night of fun. "Well, yeah. I'd be up for that, anytime. If yer uh, serious about that."

If the red on his face hadn't been so damned adorable, Aventine might have let him off the hook with a laugh and a playful push. "Well then," she grinned. "I'll treat you to dinner. For saving my a**. And you don't have to worry, I'm not going to take you home, throw you to the ground and have my way with you or anything. You don't even have to walk out of the restaurant with me if you don't want to, I just figure a normal night might be nice. I'm still getting the hang of," she hesitated, and then just gestured to her get up. "This."
